Full Name: Loki Laufeyson
Nickname(s): The God of Mischief, Loki of Asgard, Loki of Jotunheim... Reindeer Games, Rock of Ages, and others courtesy of Tony Stark
Age: Potentially several thousands of years
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: Several hundred pounds
Gender: Male
Race: Jotun (Frost Giant)
Alliance: Chaotic Selfish
Home: Asgard
Franchise: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Physical Description
Loki is quite tall, slender yet muscular, and a lot younger-looking than his age would imply. He sports pale skin, blue eyes, and long, curly, raven hair; under specific circumstances, his skin and eyes can temporarily change to their natural blue and red respectively. His attire varies from time to time, but his current armor consists of a black jacket with brass trim and green fabric lining the interior and upper sleeves, black pants, and long black boots; occasionally, he will also don a long green cape and a brass helmet with long, curved horns. He can easily change his attire when needed, bearing a penchant for suits.
Weapons and Accessories
In the past, Loki has wielded various magical staffs, but at present, the only weapons he makes regular use of are throwing knives, which he is able to summon (potentially en masse) via his magic.
Abilities/Powers
As is typical of his race, Loki possesses superhuman strength, durability, dexterity, healing and longevity, as well as a high tolerance for freezing temperatures and potential cryokinesis (though he has only been portrayed using this ability once or twice). His defining ability is his magic, which he can utilize to create complex illusions, disguise himself via illusions or shapeshifting, influence people's minds, send his astral projection across vast distances, summon faraway objects, and telekinetically manipulate nearby objects; whether or not this is the extent of his sorcery is unknown, but personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he had more tricks up his sleeve.
Weaknesses
While he can handle himself extremely well in a fight, he depends more on brain than brawn; those who manage to see past his illusions can beat him with enough brute force. Loki's most glaring weakness, however, is his inflated ego, which can lead him to severely underestimate his opponents, act on his own selfish whims without considering consequences... or simply be blindsided mid-monologue by an enormous green rage monster.
Skills
On top of Loki's mastery of the mystic arts, he also possesses a near-genius level intellect and is devastatingly skilled in armed and unarmed combat, a highly accomplished strategist both in battle and general tactics, and a renowned manipulator, easily able to deceive and influence people with his silver tongue and his trickery.
Personality
Loki, by and large, is a mischievous character, carrying an unpredictable nature, caring about himself above all else, always eager to prove himself and willing to try just about anything he can to do it. In contrast to the brutal nature of most Asgardians, he has developed a sharp intellect and acute mind, preferring to beat his opponents with wit and cunning rather than strength. When he takes on a challenge, he is pitiless and obstinate, ready to destroy everything in his path for his goals. However, beneath his egocentric and manipulative predisposition, Loki is fueled largely by a desire for respect and self-actualization, having been led to believe that he is destined for greatness and wanting little more than to be recognized for it and prove wrong all those who say that he isn't what he thinks he is.
History
SPOILERS AHEAD, PARTICULARLY IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THOR: RAGNAROK YET.
Loki was born the son of Laufey, leader of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, who abandoned him due to his small size. He was found by Odin, who took him in with the intent of using him to establish peace between Asgard and the Frost Giants, but these plans quickly became moot. As such, Loki was raised as a prince alongside Odin's true son, Thor, and while he established a close bond with his adoptive mother –Frigga, from whom he learned magic– he always felt unappreciated in his father's eyes and thus developed a lifelong jealousy of Thor.
When the time came for Thor to claim the throne of Asgard, Loki secretly allowed several Jotuns to enter Asgard and disrupt the coronation. Eager to launch a counterattack, Thor –accompanied by Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three– travelled to Jotunheim and attacked the Frost Giants; during this fight, Loki's skin briefly turned blue upon contact with one giant's freezing touch. Upon being rescued by Odin and returned to Asgard, Thor was stripped of his powers and banished to Earth. In his absence, Loki learned of his true parentage from Odin, the revelation that his life had been a lie infuriating him. The stress of the impending war and his family falling apart then caused Odin to enter the Odinsleep, and in his and Thor's absence, Loki took the throne.
Loki then struck a deal with Laufey, offering him the chance to slay Odin in his sleep, but this turned out to be a ruse to kill Laufey and use his assassination attempt on Odin as an excuse to wipe out the Frost Giants. After sending the Destroyer to kill Thor on Earth as well –ironically leading to him regaining his powers– the reformed Thor confronted Loki and stopped him before he could destroy Jotunheim with the Bifrost Bridge. As he fell into the abyss below, Loki was caught by Thor and the revived Odin, to whom he pleaded that he was doing what was best for Asgard; Odin sadly rejected him, leading Loki to let go and allow the void to claim him.
Alone, floating through space and time, Loki was eventually found by Thanos and the Other, with whom he made a deal: Having lost out on becoming ruler of Asgard and now setting his sights on ruling Earth, in exchange for the Chitauri army needed for his conquest, Loki would retrieve for them the Tesseract, a powerful artifact containing the Space Stone that was currently being held by S.H.I.E.L.D. He began mentally influencing Erik Selvig, a scientist recruited to study the Tesseract, into developing equipment that could harness the cube's power. In time, Loki activated the cube and transported himself to Earth, where he used the Mind Stone-empowered staff given to him by Thanos to take control of several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, including Selvig and Hawkeye, before stealing the cube and escaping.
While his mind-controlled agents developed a machine that could use the Tesseract to open a larger, more stable portal, Loki allowed himself to be captured by Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow. They were quickly intercepted by Thor, who tried to reason with Loki to no avail and subsequently allied with S.H.I.E.L.D. Onboard the helicarrier, Loki's presence proved disruptive to the heroes, turning them against each other until Hawkeye and the rogue agents arrived to break him out. In the commotion that followed, Loki escaped after killing S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson, an act that compelled the Avengers to set aside their differences and rise against him. With the completed machine, Loki opened a portal that allowed the Chitauri to invade New York, where they combatted against Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, and the liberated Hawkeye. Once the Chitauri were defeated and Loki was beaten into submission by the Hulk, Thor returned to Asgard with Loki and the Tesseract.
Loki was promptly imprisoned by Odin for his crimes, though Frigga took it upon herself to make him comfortable in his cell. After spending some time in the dungeon, Loki witnessed the Dark Elves' invasion of Asgard, expressing genuine grief and anger when he learned of Frigga's death at the hands of their leader, Malekith. With Odin having shut down the Bifrost, Thor approached Loki for help in escaping Asgard to confront the Dark Elves. Loki agreed, leading Thor and Jane Foster –who had become the host of the Dark Elves' weapon, the Aether, itself the liquified Reality Stone– through a portal to Svartalfheim, where Thor and Loki tricked Malekith into drawing the Aether out of Jane. Thor's subsequent attempt to destroy the Aether failed, and while Malekith escaped with it in his control, his second in command, Algrim, kept Thor placated. Loki saved Thor by killing Algrim, but was himself stabbed in the process.
Presumed dead, Loki was left behind while Thor and Jane discovered a means of returning to Earth to defeat Malekith. However, Loki, having survived, disguised himself as a guard and returned to Asgard, informing Odin of Loki's "death." He then pacified Odin, sent him to Earth where he was placed in a retirement home, and disguised himself as Odin. When Thor returned, he renounced the throne and honored Loki's sacrifice, granting Loki the chance to continue posing as Odin and remain on the throne. During his reign, Loki dedicated most his time to self-glorification, neglecting the other realms under Asgard's rule. It wasn't until years later that Thor learned from the fire demon Surtur that Odin was not on Asgard, leading him to expose Loki's ruse.
At Thor's insistence, Loki took him to Earth to retrieve Odin, only to discover that the retirement home he was left at had been demolished. Thor was then offered directions to Odin's location by Dr. Stephen Strange, with the promise that Loki would be promptly sent back to Asgard. When the brothers reunited with Odin, he informed them that he was dying and that his passing would allow his firstborn child, Hela, the ambitious and power-hungry Goddess of Death, to escape her imprisonment. Odin then faded away, and Hela appeared shortly thereafter, destroying Thor's hammer Mjolnir when he attempted to fight her. Loki, startled by her display of power, ordered the Bifrost to be opened, but Hela pursued Thor and Loki through the bridge, ejecting them both into space.
From there, once again lost in the void, the fabric of space and time split for Loki, resulting in two iterations of him being sent down two differing paths. One path led him to Sakaar, a planet of garbage ruled by the demented Grandmaster, subsequently sending him and Thor down the road to Ragnarok, the prophesized destruction of Asgard. The other led him to a strange planetoid at the center of all realms...
Other
There may or may not have been a period of time during Loki's imprisonment where he was forced into community service as a substitute daycare instructor. I dunno. That's just my headcanon.
