Full Name: Saya Watanabe
Nickname(s): Swift, Wolf Girl, Half-Breed (don't call her this if you know what's good for you)
Age: 22
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 120 lbs.
Gender: Female
Race: Wolf Hanyo (half human, half yokai)
Alliance: Good
Home: Her lakehouse in a small town on the edge of Lake Erie
Franchise: NESverse
Physical Description
Swift is on the shorter side of average height, with a thin frame that belies the muscle beneath. She has lightly tanned skin, messy, cool brown hair usually tied in low pigtails, and almond-shaped eyes with amber irises. She possesses distinct wolf-like traits, namely fangs, claws, and canine ears and tail with fur the same shade of brown as her hair. Her usual outfit consists of a pink camo shirt, a brown vest, brown pants, pink and white tennis shoes, a brown newsboy hat, and a bronze ring on her right ring finger.
When she reverts to human form, her eyes turn green, her wolf ears become human ears, and her fangs, claws and tail retract. When she reverts to yokai form, her fangs and claws grow longer, the whites of her eyes glow yellow, and she acquires black vein-like markings under her eyes.
Weapons and Accessories
While she does possess a katana handed down to her by her father, she prefers to fight with her claws. Her only other noteworthy accessories are her ring, which keeps her human and yokai blood balanced, and her wardrobe of disguises and cosplay pieces.
Abilities/Powers
Swift possesses immense strength, speed, reflexes, agility, stamina and dexterity, allowing her to lift up to four tons, run up to fifty MPH, leap up to fifty cubed feet in one bound, and heal from almost any injury or illness at an accelerated rate. Her senses of smell, hearing and sight –including night vision– are also extremely well-tuned, even beyond those of a normal wolf, making her an excellent tracker. She can channel her yoki (demonic energy) into her claws, using it to either greatly extend their reach or be flung as bladed projectiles, both of which can cut through thick objects with ease; this ability is strengthened if her claws –and by extension, the yoki expelled from them– are covered in a physical substance, usually her own blood.
Weaknesses
Swift's abilities, while strong, are not as strong as those of a full-blooded yokai. On top of that, the mix of human and yokai blood within her is naturally highly unstable. In order to keep the balance in check, she not only has to constantly wear her ring –the aura of which is designed to limit the power of her yoki– but she transforms into a full human on days before the moon is at its fullest, losing her powers in the process before changing back at nightfall. If her ring is removed, she runs the risk of her yoki taking over in self-defense situations; if it does, she loses all human sensibility and self-awareness, driving her into a fit of relentless, feral rage.
Skills
Swift very much enjoys putting her physical prowess to good use; she's highly adept at most physical activities, and although she's not trained in any specific form of combat, she is an incredibly proficient fighter, more than capable of holding her own against opponents many times her size. She has a knack for puzzle-solving, navigation, and as stated before, tracking. She considers herself a cosplay-donnaire (never mind the fact that that's a made-up word); as such, she knows how to assemble a good costume and don a good disguise. She can also kick your butt at Smash Bros.
Personality
Swift is full of a great deal of confidence and energy, making her highly resilient and eager to pump others up when there's action afoot. She can be foolhardy whenever she's truly in over her head, but she's not so impulsive that she can't see the error of her ways once she calms down. More than adventure, Swift yearns for truth and justice, and she will gladly tear down anything that opposes her or her friends' ideals. Her aggressive, rebellious tendencies can lead her to act pessimistic, uncompromising, and downright bitter and bluntly sarcastic at times, particularly towards those who get on her bad side; if you truly tick her off, pray she keeps her claws away and simply screams at you at the top of her lungs. Get on her good side, though, and she will die on a hill for your sake. She may seem volatile and angry on the surface, but when all is said and done, Swift only fights because she wants to do right by her friends and by what she believes in, and when it comes to the latter, she genuinely knows what's important and worth fighting for.
History
Swift is the daughter of Angela Ferguson, a travelling journalist, and Watanabe Roukan, a wolf yokai living among humans in Kyoto; the pair met while Angela was writing a story there, forming a still-withstanding long-distance relationship that eventually culminated in Swift's birth. She grew up in her maternal grandparents' house in northern Ohio on the coast of Lake Erie, raised by her grandparents and her mother with Roukan making occasional visits. Due to her nonhuman attributes, she was kept hidden from society for most of her life, yearning for adventure outside the lakehouse.
By the time she reached young adulthood, Swift snuck out to drive her grandparents' speedboat on the lake, accidentally discovering a remote island where an excavation crew mined for soul crystal. Swift revealed that she could track the crystals' scent, prompting the superintendent to train and hire her. Soon thereafter, Swift met several residents of Summer Snow Valley, who had travelled to Lake Erie to find a suitable habitat for a baby leviathan. She offered to help them, quickly forming a friendship with them and an eventual romance with Evan Anders. With help from Summer Snow's resident inventors and a bit of soul crystal, Swift was given the means of powering the lakehouse off the grid. Between this and her new job, she proved self-sufficient enough to allow Angela to return to her travels and let her daughter care for herself following the death of her grandfather and forced retirement of her grandmother.
Over the years, Swift acquired several housemates: Jake, an amnesiac ghost boy; Rob, a former criminal turned into a rat; Andromeda, an alien who possessed a powerful bioweapon and had journeyed to Earth to escape her bondage; and Aether, Andromeda's companion and guardian with the power to control the weather. She also crossed paths with Natalie and Team Popcorn during a scuffle with a rampant demon. Together with her housemates, Team Popcorn, and the Summer Snow Valley crew (collectively calling themselves the NES), Swift has been given many opportunities to exploit her newfound freedom and satisfy her lust for adventure, and she happily anticipates many more to come.
Other
A total Disnerd, even if she's loathe to admit it. Also has extreme coulrophobia.
