Franchise: NESverse
Physical Description
Andromeda largely resembles a human, with several key differences. Her skin is pastel pink with swirled, lavender markings around her eyes and torso, her hair is golden yellow with long bangs partially obscuring the left side of her face, and her eyes are a bright, peridot green with white sclera. She also possesses opposable, monkey-like feet and a long, forked tail, while she lacks visible ears and canine teeth. She usually wears jeans and a dark blue shirt with a star and planet emblem; sometimes she'll wear green tennis shoes, but she's more comfortable going barefoot.
Weapons and Accessories
Andromeda is the host of Kalivar's Beacon, a weapon crafted from an artificial, hard light substance. The Beacon acts similarly to an astral body, able to extend from the physical body and take on a variety of forms, such as a staff, sword, shield or whip. It can also be superheated at will, allowing it to slice through solid objects with ease or produce blasts of blinding, even semi-physical light. Her only other noteworthy tool of trade is her rhossul, an instrument resembling an ocarina.
Abilities/Powers
At present, the only particularly useful power Andromeda can summon from the Beacon is the power to generate spurts of light, ranging from small flashes to glaring bursts. Aside from that, her natural abilities in accordance to her race are immense agility, reflexes, endurance and dexterity, a heightened sense of hearing, holding her breath for nearly an hour with no physical consequences, and a healing factor slightly faster than a human's.
Weaknesses
Despite having Kalivar's Beacon bonded to her spirit, Andromeda has almost no control over it, as its full power seems to be sealed away. Even projecting its light quickly drains her energy; creating especially powerful bursts can render her unconscious almost immediately. On top of that, while this is by no means a detriment to her wellbeing, Andromeda was born mute, which does hinder her already flimsy social skills.
Skills
Typical of her race, Andromeda is masterfully acrobatic, allowing her to effortlessly pull off risky stunts, climb trees, and remain active and alert without easily tiring. She is quite gifted at playing the rhossul, a talent she utilizes somewhat infrequently in front of an audience. She's also a rather useful cook, cleaner and healer, having extensive knowledge of various herbs and essential oils and their practical or medicinal uses.
Personality
Andromeda is the archetypal shrinking violet. She's shy, quiet (even ignoring the fact that she's mute), and dislikes having any sort of attention on her. Despite this, she is a very kind, caring, generous person who's happy to help others should she feel the need to or be given a good reason to open up. While she's usually one to avoid the limelight and any sort of stressful situation, Andromeda secretly craves validation, companionship and approval, making her seem somewhat needy and clingy towards those she trusts. She often sets impossibly high standards for herself to obtain and preserve that approval, falling into fits of depression and low self-esteem when she fails, but more than anything else, she would prefer to be accepted as she is rather than what other people want her to be.
History
Almost a century ago, an alien race called the Msilika established an outpost in the deserts of the planet Bairiasinedraith-lebethryngala following the destruction of their home world and the scattering of their people. Sometime after their settlement, a Msilikon found an abandoned infant Rangchamirnoiatatakaial –the native race that the Msilika nicknamed Peaceful Warriors– and decided to raise it as his own, naming him Kalivar. In his adulthood, Kalivar forged a weapon out of tormith –an artificial, hard light element of the Msilika's own design– and used a Peaceful Warrior technique to bind it to his spirit. With this weapon, dubbed Kalivar's Beacon, he protected and served both the Msilika and the Peaceful Warriors, becoming a hero to both. When Kalivar died, the Beacon seemed to disappear along with his spirit.
Many years later, Andromatuitxingvagar was born in the Peaceful Warrior clan of Gammadvenaekhngae. Shortly after her birth, the clan's medicine woman discovered that Kalivar's Beacon had been reincarnated and was lying dormant inside Andromeda. Aside from her muteness, this didn't seem to affect Andromeda in any way, and thus her parents sought to raise her as a normal Peaceful Warrior. Eventually, a band of Msilika approached the clan and offered to train Andromeda how to use her powers, but her parents declined their offer. Thus, several rogue Msilika –believing Andromeda belonged with people who better understood the nature of tormith and the Beacon– kidnapped her and brought her back to their outpost. Though their leader disapproved of their methods and warned that the Peaceful Warriors could respond with hostility, he nonetheless agreed to let them train Andromeda.
In the years that followed, the Msilika attempted to teach Andromeda combat and force the Beacon to activate. None of their efforts proved effective, as Andromeda had no desire to be a fighter and was never able to deduce how to tap into the Beacon's full power. As such, most of her "training sessions" amounted to her receiving physical, verbal and emotional abuse from the abrasive Msilika, leaving her feeling useless and out of place. She attempted several times to escape the outpost and return to her home jungle, but she would always either wind up recaptured by the Msilika or be sent away by Peaceful Warrior clans who wanted nothing to do with the Beacon. During one such escape attempt, Andromeda was found by Aether, a laikaor in search of a Peaceful Warrior to protect, and the two formed a soul bond, with Aether becoming Andromeda's guardian and voice.
Despite Aether's attempts, Andromeda remained a prisoner of the Msilika. One day, however, a large band of Peaceful Warriors led by Andromeda's parents stormed the outpost with intent to free her. This siege ended with several Msilikon casualties and the deaths of almost every Peaceful Warrior in the band, including Andromeda's parents. Scarred by the event, desperate more than ever to escape her environment, but fearful of returning to her own society for the damage she had caused, Andromeda managed to steal a Msilikon ship and, with Aether's help, flee the planet, setting a course for the first inhabitable planet they could find.
Soon, their ship crash landed on Earth in Lake Erie, where it was found by Swift Watanabe. After using a Msilikon invention to transfer knowledge of their respective languages into each other's minds, Aether explained their story and Swift, taking pity on them and knowing the dangers they would be in on Earth, offered the two aliens sanctuary in her remote lakehouse. Andromeda has been living with Swift ever since, trying her hardest to put the trauma behind her and forge an identity on her own terms. She has long given up on trying to wield Kalivar's Beacon to its full extent; she has simply accepted the fact that she is not meant to be a hero.
Other
Like all Peaceful Warriors, Andromeda is a vegetarian. Also, even though she can understand spoken English, she doesn't quite know how to read or write it.
