Aether, in many respects, resembles an Earth cat, although proportionally she's slightly bigger than a small dog. She's a quadrupedal creature with sky blue fur, sporting triangular, dark blue ears, dark blue eyes, a bushy tail, and white, cloud-like markings along her back, tail and hind paws.

Abilities/Powers
Aether can manipulate all facets of the weather. Her primary power is to generate clouds and gusts of wind, both of which she can ride on. From her clouds, she can release rain, snow, sleet, fog, lightning, and all manner of meteorological phenomena, and she can drastically increase or decrease the temperature of any given area instantly. She's also immensely strong despite her tiny size, allowing her to lift fifty times her own weight. On top of that, her soul bond with Andromeda allows her to establish a telepathic communion between them, making her constantly aware of Andromeda's thoughts, feelings and present situation.
Weaknesses
Her weather powers can drain over time with extensive use, particularly when she's deprived of the sunlight she needs to recharge. Also, due to their soul bond, if Andromeda dies for any reason, Aether will die too.
Skills
Aether's greatest asset is her knack for diplomacy. She often takes on the role of mother figure and mediator among her group, calming others down, helping them see things more clearly, and persuading people to get along. When that doesn't work, she can just as easily drop the niceties and beat those necessities into your head. On top of helping people solve personal problems, she's good at solving practical problems and puzzles as well. Really, her entire purpose in life is to fix things and ensure others' wellbeing.

Aether is very much the peacekeeper type, always striving to keep those around her safe and under control. She's usually very serious, straightforward and by-the-book, never one to go against the grain unless she's standing up to corruption or injustice. Most of the time, she is fully convinced she knows what's right (to her credit, she usually does), and she can be quite stubborn and difficult to persuade otherwise once she sets her mind to something. She strives to remain rational and logical, even in intense, emotional situations. It's not that she lacks empathy, far from it; she just tries to keep her head on straight at all times so she can properly console others when they're under duress. Aether simply wants what's best for those under her care.
History
Aether was born on the Dark Moon of Bairiasinedraith-lebethryngala. In keeping with the customs of the laikaori, when she came of age, she entered the caverns of the moon to face her trials and receive her powers. Most laikaori receive power over only one facet of the weather; Aether, through the choices she made during her trials, was granted power over all of them. This concerned those around her, who responded to her abilities with either jealousy or fear that she was overpowered. Her siblings were especially vocal about this development, as they seemed to be under the impression that Aether believed she was better than them and responded with abuse and disownment. Wanting to escape this environment and put her abilities to good use, Aether left the moon at a younger age than what was considered normal and journeyed to the planet, following her laikaor instinct to seek out a charge.
Shortly after arriving on Bairiasinedraith-lebethryngala, Aether found Andromatuitxingvagar, a Peaceful Warrior who had become lost in the desert after escaping from the Msilikon outpost. Wanting to help, Aether forged a soul bond with Andromeda and became her guardian, as well as a voice for the mute Peaceful Warrior. Upon learning of Andromeda's plight as the unwitting host to the legendary weapon Kalivar's Beacon, Aether sought to free her from her life of bondage, comforting and consoling her when her efforts to dissuade the Msilika proved fruitless. Then a large band of Peaceful Warriors led by Andromeda's parents stormed the outpost with intent to free her. This siege ended with several Msilikon casualties and the deaths of almost every Peaceful Warrior in the band, including Andromeda's parents. Scarred by the event, desperate more than ever to escape her environment, but fearful of returning to her own society for the damage she had caused, Andromeda managed to steal a Msilikon ship, with Aether creating a storm to keep the Msilika off their tail so they could escape and depart for the nearest inhabited planet.
Soon, their ship crash landed on Earth in Lake Erie, where it was found by Swift Watanabe. After using a Msilikon invention to transfer knowledge of their respective languages into each other's minds, Aether explained their story and Swift, taking pity on them and knowing the dangers they would be in on Earth, offered the two aliens sanctuary in her remote lakehouse. Aether has been living with Swift ever since, helping Andromeda overcome the trauma she had endured and adapt to their new life on Earth.

Like all laikaori, Aether is a producer, able to sustain herself only on water and sunlight; she's capable of eating if she wants to, but it's not a biological necessity. Also, only Aether can ride on the clouds and wind currents she creates; anything else that tries to sit on one of her clouds will fall through.
