Befitting the Count of Monte Cristo, Avenger is a well dressed man, who appears far younger than he should. Edmond Dantes is commonly adorned in a fine suit and fedora, however he is also known to wear a black cloak, and dress shoes. Dantes is extremely pale, courtesy of spending so much time away from the light, and has a thin figure. He has crimson red eyes, and wild, white hair.

Abilities/Powers
Monte Cristo Mythologie: The Monte Cristo Mythologie is a conceptual weapon, that encompasses Edmond Dantes’ way of life, as the very personification of revenge. It imbues Dantes with powerful magical abilities, allowing him to fire blasts of magical power, rendering him immune to most poisons and mental attacks, and also allows him to hide and falsify his Servant parameters, allowing him to appear much stronger or much weaker than he really is.
When the Monte Cristo Mythologie is fully unleashed, called by its true name, Dantes is able to project and surround his body in the black flames of hell itself. Its power is truly ancient, a relic from the Age of Gods, and these black flames can shatter magical barriers and even burn the very souls of the target—nullifying powers of regeneration and reincarnation.
Wait and Hope: Dantes’ first Noble Phantasm, this power reflects Dantes’ own miraculous recovery after facing certain death in the Chateau D’lf. This power allows Dantes to resurrect himself or an ally back from near death, bolstering all of their parameters (speed, strength, endurance, magical power, mana and luck) by one rank.
Enter Chateau D’lf: This is Dantes’ true Noble Phantasm, which embodies his great achievements as a Heroic Spirit. This Noble Phantasm reflects Dantes’ feat of escaping from the inescapable Chateau D’lf, and, as a Heroic Spirit’s Noble Phantasm, it allows Dantes to escape from any and all forms of imprisonment. At the height of its ability, this even allows Dantes the ability to temporarily “escape from the imprisonment of time and space”, allowing Dantes to move and attack at incredibly high speeds, as well as exist in multiple locations simultaneously.
Weaknesses
While, as an Avenger, Dantes has few direct weaknesses, as a reflection of his abysmal fate, and his betrayal by all of those he considered friends, Dantes has a luck stat so abysmal that it is reflected by him not even having one. Additionally, Dantes must endure continual mental torment, since, as an Avenger, he is the personification of vengeance, and can never achieve the closure in his life, that his original self did.
Skills
Weapon Mastery: Dantes is a master of all weapons commonly used in his day. Among the weapons he is proficient with, he includes, swords, pistols, carbines, knives and hand to hand combat.
Dark Vision: As a result of spending nine years in the lightless Chateau D’lf, Dantes has developed the ability to see in perfect darkness.
Personality
As an Avenger, Dantes possesses a truly twisted personality. Specifically, summoned in this form, Avenger does not actually consider himself to be truly Edmond Dantes, but rather a personification of the man’s hatred and vengeance. Avenger notes, bitterly, that at the end of his journey, Edmond Dantes was able to let go of his hatred and vengeance and forgive many of those who had wronged him—something Avenger is incapable of doing by his very nature. Thus, this distinction leads Avenger to conclude that he must not be Edmond Dantes, despite being summoned as him.
Avenger is a giant ball of hate and anger, directed at the very world itself. He claims to oppose irrationality and malice, but is hypocritical, as he succumbs to these very vices himself. He is not without a superficial charm, being eloquent in speech and mannerisms, but this is a thin façade, easily penetrated, through which his utter contempt for the evils of the world leaks out. Avenger is envious and fiercely jealous of those who live without sin in their lives, since it is something that he cannot achieve. This can take the form of hatred towards such people, particularly notified in his confrontation with Joan of Arc, where, faced with a maiden who had cast aside her own hatred and self-interest in pursuit of purely selfless goals, Avenger was driven into a vengeful madness, attempting to find some flaw in the Ruler class Servant.
History
Edmond Dantes, the Count of Monte Cristo is one of the greatest revenge stories in the world. A sailor by trade, Dantes came upon several good fortunes in his life. He became betrothed to a beautiful and faithful woman named Mercedes, and, following his ship’s Captain’s retirement, he was named his Captain’s successor. Dantes was a well respected and enviable member of the community. But these traits ultimately led to Dantes’ downfall. A group of those Dantes had once called his friends, conspired against him, jealous of Edmond’s good fortunes. A childhood friend of Mercedes, who had fallen desperately in love with her, sought to remove Dantes from the equation. A shipmate of his, jealous of Dantes’ promotion over himself, sought to claim the position for himself. The two conspired to have Dantes framed for a heinous crime which he did not commit. Despite Dantes providing proof of his innocence, the very evidence that would have exonerated Dantes, incriminated the overseeing judge’s family. Thus the evidence was destroyed, and Dantes was sentenced to life imprisonment, without parole, in the Chateau D’lf, a prison from which none had ever left alive.
For nine years, Dante was imprisoned in the Chateau, whilst those who had imprisoned him flourished. His mutinous shipmate was made Captain, his jealous rival in love claimed Dantes’ fiancé, and in the nine years Dantes was held, he began to fall into despair. Life in the Chateau was hard, and Dantes developed immense strength and speed. Additionally, in the lightless dungeon, his eyes adjusted over time, becoming able to see perfectly even in complete darkness. Still, these gifts did not avail him, and he began to contemplate taking his own life.
It was then, that Dantes was saved by an eccentric old man, Abbe Faria. Abbe taught and mentored Dantes for some time. Through their interactions, Dantes learned of an unimaginable treasure that lay on a hidden island, Faria being the sole living being who knew of its location. He imparted this information to Dantes before the old man finally passed away of natural causes. Faria would prove to be Dantes’ salvation, for after the old man died, Dantes hid himself in Faria’s body bag, being the first ever to escape Chateau D’lf. After escaping, Dantes sought out the treasure that he had been told of, promising to avenge himself on all those who had wronged him. For fourteen years, Dantes built up his fortunes and concealed his identity as the mysterious and enigmatic Count of Monte Cristo island. He learned all he could of those he sought to take his revenge upon, and when the time was right, struck upon Paris and wrought a terrible revenge upon all of them.
At last, at the end of his journey, Dantes was able to absolve himself of his grudges, regret and hatred, and absconded from Paris forever. The story of Dantes’ tragic life and vengeance became known as one of the most famous revenge stories in modern literature, allowing Dantes to be incarnated in the Throne of Heroes, as a Heroic Spirit. Thus the story of Edmond Dantes gave birth to Avenger.
