Physical Description
Kaden is a tall, slender young-looking man with orange hair and brown eyes. He does not have human ears, instead having a pair of orange fox ears higher up on his head, in addition to a fluffy, and very well-groomed, fox tail. His typical outfit consists of a sleeveless, dark blue robe that leaves a fair bit of his chest exposed, a long-sleeved black undershirt (that also exposes his chest) and pants, a pair of sandals, and a white-and-blue striped scarf and sash.
When transformed, Kaden takes the form of a large orange fox with red eyes and brown paws, with blue embers of foxfire floating close to his shoulders.
Weapons and Accessories
Upon arrival, Kaden carries no conventional weapons. Instead, he is equipped with just his Fangs; these fangs are capable of easily piercing human flesh and do not wear out, instead growing stronger with repeated use.
When not transformed, Kaden is capable of delivering a fairly powerful Kick in self-defence.
(Fang stats: A Strike, 9 Mt, 80 Hit, 0 Crit, 0 Avo, 0 Ddg)
(Kick stats: A Strike, 1 Mt, 80 Hit, -5 Crit, 0 Avo, 0 Ddg)
Abilities/Powers
As a kitsune, Kaden can use the energies stored within Beaststones to transform into a giant fox. Additionally, due to being splattered with a strange chemical very shortly after arriving in the lab, he can instead opt to build up his energy and transform without a Beaststone, resulting in a stronger beast form.
Kaden also has some latent magical potential, although to be blunt, he’s not very good at it.
In battle, Kaden has a number of skills that can manifest, the first of which is his personal skill, Reciprocity. When healed by another character, the healer regains HP equal to half the amount healed by Kaden. Kitsune magic blesses those who heal them, granting them some health back.
“Evenhanded” takes advantage of Kaden’s biorhythm, adding 4 to damage dealt on even-numbered turns. A kitsune’s biorhythm runs opposite to a wolfskin’s, and this skill is one example.
“Beastbane” is much simpler. Kaden’s natural instincts allow him, when transformed, to easily strike vulnerable points on his fellow beasts and beast-like creatures, increasing the damage he does.
Finally, while he doesn’t remember learning it, Kaden also has “Rally Magic.” With a magical shout, Kaden can increase the Magic stat of nearby allies by 4 for a brief period.
Weaknesses
Kaden is vulnerable to physical attacks, especially if he uses a Beaststone to transform, especially to weapons such as Beast Killers and enemies with the Beastbane skill. Although normally good at taking magical attacks, Kaden has a weakness to fire magic.
Although Kaden can transform fast without a stone, he has trouble sustaining his beast form in a prolonged fight.
Skills
Kaden has good leadership skills, as a result of his time as the chieftain of the Kitsune Hamlet. He is also good at grooming other creatures, including pegasi, and knows how to care for animals.
Kaden can also cook, and his style is often described as Elegant by those who eat it.
Personality
Kaden is playful with a mischievous side, and has no qualms about teasing people he interacts with. He can be a bit of a narcissist, and is quite proud of his fur. Don’t be surprised if you catch him grooming himself in his downtime. Kaden believes in repaying all debts, no matter how small, and is willing to go out of his way to do so.
However, in dire situations, Kaden is fully capable of being completely serious, and is quite protective of both his fellow kitsune and human friends.
History
Kaden was born in the Kitsune Hamlet in a Hoshidan mountain range, and while much of his past is unknown, he succeeded his father as the village chieftain. However, he had an unusual tendency to wander off, and often incurring debts. One day, a chain of debts lead to him being dragged into a conflict…
When Corrin and his army arrived in Cyrkensia, Kaden had owed a performer, Layla, a favour. Taking a chance to capture King Garon, who was also present, Azura agreed to replace Layla in the performance. Kaden, while glad, now saw himself as being in debt to Corrin’s army, and tagged along, ultimately accompanying the army all the way to Castle Krakenberg.
Along the way… Kaze, who had married Azura, perished in saving Corrin. Seeing how distraught Azura was, Kaden spent time with the young widow often. However, Kaden found himself falling in love with Azura, and was conflicted about his feelings. Those feelings were left unresolved, as Azura dissolved into water after the defeat of Garon. Kaden never forgot about her, even as he returned to the hamlet…
Meanwhile, running concurrently to the above…
Kaden had successfully managed to resolve his debts, and returned to the hamlet before Corrinne ever arrived in Cyrkensia. He would have remained neutral throughout the war, had the Hoshidan army not forced Corrinne’s army into the mountain. Appearing before the Nohrians and acting friendly, Kaden had his fellow kitsune surround them, and following his elders’ advice, attacked. His attack was unsuccessful, however, costing Kaden, and a number of his fellow kitsune, his life.
That’s not how it ends, however…
Once again, Kaden found himself in debt to Corrin and his army, and when the Nohrian army attacked after Azura’s unsuccessful attempt to incapacitate Garon, a girl similar to Corrin, calling herself Corrinne, appeared with the rest of the Nohrian army. As the rest of the group clashed against the Nohrian army to buy Corrin time to escape, Kaden clashed with Corrinne, sensing something… off about her.
When the army reached Castle Krakenberg, Xander guarded the throne room. When the crown prince was defeated by Corrin, Corrinne appeared, taking Siegfried and challenging Corrin to single combat. Although Kaden fought against the remnants of Xander’s forces and Corrinne’s troops, he knew something wasn’t right… When Corrin refused to take Corrinne’s life, he watched, horrified, as Corrinne ran Siegfried through her chest. This haunting image, and Azura’s dissolving, stayed with Kaden for the rest of his life.
Fortunately, it didn’t stick.
Once again, Kaden successfully managed to resolve his debts, but after his return to the hamlet, a young man with white hair met Kaden just outside the village. This man, Corrin, warned Kaden of a group of Nohrian soldiers, saying that they would attack the hamlet if they passed through, and that their leader was a woman who looked much like him, and that he needed her sword. Sensing something, Kaden chose to trust this man, and when Corrinne passed through the hamlet, he attacked her with his fellow kitsune. Determined to help Corrin, Kaden fought his hardest, but was ultimately killed…
One more time…
Once again, Kaden found himself in Cyrkensia, where he met his fellow beast, Keaton. However, the town was attacked by invisible soldiers, and the two sprang into action to defend Cyrkensia. The two were wounded in their attempts, and when a small army lead by Corrin and Corrinne arrived in the destroyed town, Kaden tried to warn the group to stay away. Camilla had Sakura heal the pair, and with Keaton, Kaden explained what had happened. As this happened, however, a Hoshidan army lead by Ryoma and a Nohrian army lead by Xander appeared, each blaming each other for the destruction of Cyrkensia. Determined to help, CorrinKaden joined a strike force lead by Corrin going to the right, where together with Azura, he fought a Wyvern Lord named Scarlet, ultimately defeating her.
Kaden remained with the group as they went to Notre Sagesse, and then towards the Bottomless Canyon, witnessing Ryoma and Xander strike a truce to deal with the “true enemy” that Corrin and Corrinne had spoken of. Kaden jumped into the canyon alongside Keaton, Orochi, Hayato, and Nyx… But wound up in a world of ice and snow, his Beaststone missing...
