Full Name: Nyx
Nickname(s): “The monster of Nohr”
Apparent Age: 13
Actual Age: At least her seventies, if not into triple-digits. Doesn’t age.
Height: ? (Short)
Weight: ? (Light)
Gender: Female
Race: Human (cursed)
Alliance: Neutral
Home: Nohr
Franchise: Fire Emblem (Fates)
Physical Description
Nyx appears as a young girl with very pale skin, light red eyes, and very long and voluminous dark, faded purple hair. Atop Nyx’s forehead and on her cheeks are pale red markings. She additionally wears a gold circlet and a pinkish-purple veil covering the lower half of her face. The rest of Nyx’s outfit is a bit… unconventional, so the picture is a better reference.
Weapons and Accessories
Upon arrival, Nyx carries a Fire tome and Bird Spirit scroll from her own world. While weak and denying Nyx the ability to use critical hits or offensive skills, the Fire tome is very accurate and makes her less likely to be struck by a critical herself. The Bird Spirit scroll is somewhat more powerful than her Fire tome, and makes her more evasive, as well as slightly faster and luckier, but it cuts into her already-low ability to take physical attacks.
While useless to Nyx herself, she also has a Beaststone, having found it not too long after she landed. When used by a Wolfskin or Kitsune, this allows them to transform, making them faster and more accurate, as well as conferring a resistance to critical hits, it also cuts into their ability to take physical attacks.
Abilities/Powers
Nyx is well-versed in magic, particularly curses and hexes. Amongst these curses include the ability to censor foul language, or all words outright on its victim. As a result of a curse she cast in her youth, Nyx does not age.
In battle, Nyx has a number of skills that can manifest. Her mastery of magic takes the form of her personal skill, Countercurse. When struck by a magical attack, half of the damage done to her is reflected back to the caster. Nyx’s magical mastery has given her knowledge on how to reflect every spell.
Her next skill, Heartseeker, reduces the evasion of all enemies adjacent to Nyx by 20. Nyx’s presence invokes feelings of dread in her enemies, making them less evasive.
Nyx’s next skill, Malefic Aura, makes any enemy within two squares of her take two more damage when hit by a magical attack. Nyx’s body gives off an aura that cuts into the resistance of nearby foes.
Finally, while she has no recollection of learning it, Nyx also has Pass, which simply allows her to pass through squares occupied by enemies. Due to her small size, Nyx can simply slip past her opponents.
Weaknesses
Nyx is very vulnerable to physical attacks, especially when equipped with her Bird Spirit scroll. She’s also not very physically strong and can be more easily weighed down by heavier tomes.
Skills
As mentioned in Abilities, Nyx is well-versed in curses and hexes. As an avid bookworm, there’s a very good chance that Nyx has read up on whatever an issue may be. She’s also a great cook, although her sophisticated style may be a bit of an acquired taste.
Personality
Nyx has a generally gloomy and pessimistic disposition, with the wisdom of an older woman. Nyx desires to atone for her actions; as a result, she became a social recluse. She prefers to not interact with others, only doing so when is necessary or when approached.
That being said, Nyx is not entirely cold. She is fully capable of humour and kindness to others, and loves to read romance novels, though she’d rather keep the latter secret.
History
Nyx was born to a family of talented Nohrian mages, and was a prodigy in dark magic. However, Nyx became arrogant, and began testing her abilities on innocents, killing many in the name of her “fun.” It came to an end one day, however. Nyx cast a curse so dark and powerful on an entire village, instantly killing everyone and transferring the villagers’ life energies into her, cursing her to remain a child forever. She grew suicidal and depressed, eventually deciding to hide herself away from the world as her atonement.
Many years later, a white-haired child entered the Nohrian royal family.
When the Yato blade stayed in Hoshido, Nyx foresaw the arrival of the Hoshidan army, and evacuated. What happened to her after is unknown, although she was amongst the few unaffected by Hoshido’s campaign.
When the Yato blade left for Nohr, however, Nyx found herself around Fort Dragonfall, where a group of Hoshidan soldiers had occupied the fort. Believing her to be a young girl, the Hoshidans tried to take her into protective custody, but she managed to evade them. When a Nohrian army lead by Corrinne entered en route to Port Dia, Corrinne found Nyx, initially mistaking her for a child. While Nyx initially refused to join, she found herself wanting human company, and joined Corrinne’s forces, offering advice on a weakened section of the fort’s walls. Nyx accompanied Corrinne throughout her campaign, and in one iteration, against Corrinne’s twin, Corrin. Although no official records of Nyx survived, the bards sang of an eternally young fortune-teller of eerie skill.
When either twin refused to take a side, however, Nyx found herself in the Sevenfold Sanctuary. Corrinne found her, and asked her if she needed help. Nyx initially refused, but was impressed by Corrinne’s determination at such a young age, believing that they could understand her. Eventually, it came time to jump into the Bottomless Canyon. But even she could not predict the icy world that they could have landed in...
