Full Name: Ryan Summers
Age:
20
Height: 5'9
Weight: 310 lbs [due to most of his body being metal alloys]
Gender: Male
Race: Cyborg
Franchise: OC
Physical Description
With an appearance of around 17 years of age, Ryan appears relatively unassuming at first glance. He does not have a very powerful build, and while he doesn't look like he's out of shape, he doesn't look like a fitness god either. He has a pretty plain, ordinary build. Short, light brown hair that is slightly messy, and Caucasian skin tone. Ryan is fond of hoodies and long pants, with sneakers as his usual apparel, and it's not uncommon for him to wear the same outfit day in and day out. His favored outfit is a black hoodie and jeans. The only initial distinguishing feature of Ryan is that he has heterochromatic eyes. His left eye is blue, while his right eye is a bright yellow. The reasons for this is well.... because his right eye isn't an organic eye. It looks virtually identical, but in fact, is mechanical. Approximately 86% of Ryan's body is actually cybernetic, with only parts of his face, and many of his internal organs still being human, cunningly disguised. His plain appearance is entirely designed to make him appear less assuming so that people will not pay as much mind to him and discover this. Ryan tends to carry himself with a sort of slouch, and usually has his hands buried in the front of his hoodie.
Weapons and Accessories
Cybernetic Body: Ryan's cyborg body has a number of useful upgrades both in and out of battle, including the following:
+In-built cellphone: Ryan has a cellphone literally built into his body-- specifically his left forearm, and produces his own reception and Wi-fi, allowing him to facilitate communications even in regions that would not normally register service, albeit only with others using the same network as him, in such situations.
+Recording device: Ryan's senses can double as recording devices, allowing him to make a replayable record of anything he sees or hears if he so chooses.
+Flashlight: Ryan has a flashlight application built into his right eye.
+Shock Cannon: Ryan's left arm contains a series of magnetic amplifiers that allows him to fire concentrated bolts of electricity, weaponizing his own battery. This is a powerful blast of electricity and can be considered Ryan's trump card, but heavily drains him, and cannot be used consecutively, without putting Ryan into Emergency Power Conservation Mode (EPCM). It is possible, however, for Ryan to use a lower power version of this, for more mundane purposes, such as using the intense heat generated to weld metal.
+Grappling Line: Ryan can fire a steel cable tipped with either a powerful magnetic anchor, or a steel dart to anchor something from his palms. Of its own volition, the line can sustain up to 3,000 pounds before snapping.
+Sonic Pulse: Ryan is able to produce a sonic emission from his body that acts similarly to echo-location, allowing him to see even in complete darkness, and can use this to map his surroundings. It has an effective range of 200 feet.
Abilities/Powers
+Enhanced Physique: As a cyborg, Ryan possesses vastly superhuman speed, durability and strength. While his abilities are typically determined by how much of his power he can use, Ryan is typically able to lift about two tonnes, and run at speeds up to 230 miles per hour. By diverting more of his power, he can magnify these statistics about ten times over, but this will drain his battery within about two minutes, making this more of a weapon of last resort. Ryan's body is mostly metallic, also providing him greater durability than humans. Also, he can detach his left eye, while still being able to remotely track the information from it, if he needs to use it for long range surveillance.
+Metallic body: In addition to the enhanced durability afforded by his metal body, Ryan's body is well insulated and the metals used are heatproofed. While not immune, he is highly resilient to high temperatures and external electric currents.
+Sustainability: As long as Ryan has a source of power, he does not need to consume food or water, and while he does need to go into a "sleep mode" at times, to recharge, he is usually still aware of his surroundings during this time. He is also able to survive in locations without oxygen (such as space, or the deep sea) for up to an hour at a time, provided his head is protected.
Weaknesses
-Limited Battery Life: Ryan's cyborg features are powered by a pair of batteries located in his torso. For maintaining everyday life, these batteries are able to subsist on the natural bio-electric currents of Ryan's body, and are incredibly energy-efficient. Under normal circumstances, they can last nearly indefinitely, provided Ryan lives a somewhat normal life cycle (provided he has a minimum of 4 hours of "sleep" per day), however, if Ryan draws on some of his body's more draining functions (flashlight, sonic pulse, enhancing his physical abilities beyond their normal limits or the Shock Cannon for example), this battery life can drain shockingly quickly. If Ryan uses up too much of his battery, then it will force Ryan into a Low-Power mode, which he cannot end voluntarily, until his battery life is restored to a certain level. During EPCM, Ryan's physical capabilities are about that of a normal human, though he is notably slower, and less agile, due to being significantly heavier than a normal human, and he cannot use any of his advanced functions, besides his grappling line.
-No self-healing: Due to most of his body being mechanical, most of Ryan's body does not heal on its own like a human body would. Damage he sustains, sticks unless he can get to someone who can repair him. Granted, there ARE pros to this situation, as in situations with a mechanic good enough to repair Ryan he can get back into action much faster than a human, in situations where a mechanic is not available, Ryan is unlikely to be very useful in extended situations where he may accumulate considerable damage, as even minor damage can add up over time.
-EMP: As most of his body is machine, anti-mechanical tactics are extremely effective against Ryan, and EMP is potentially fatal to him, as his entire body is essentially on permanent life support. While hardy, if Ryan's electronics are disabled, he is effectively a conscious vegetable.
Skills
Mechanical Engineering: Ryan has some passion for mechanical engineering, perhaps as a practical choice, given what he is. He's not very good at it, but he can do basic repair-work, and can provide self-maintenance, assuming he has the tools for the job.
Personality
Ryan is someone who is easily excitable and very prone to extreme moods. That's not to say he's bipolar, just that his reactions to sudden changes are pretty extreme. When he's shocked he's shocked, and when he's happy he's a bouncing bubble of joy, and when he's pissed, he's blazing. But despite that, while his mood swings wildly according to the situation, he usually attempts a mild-mannered demeanor, to go with his appearance. The key word here being "attempts". He is not usually successful Ryan is incredibly curious and tends to stick his nose in places it doesn't belong without thinking, and is the sort of person to get involved in something way above their head, without even thinking or realizing it. He possesses a high level of academic intelligence, especially when it comes to physics and machinery, and is passionate about the study of new technologies.
History
Ryan would have liked to have lived an ordinary life. Or as ordinary as one gets anyways. He was a more or less, normal kid going through most of his life. The only distinguishing feature of his life, was that his father was an especially well regarded doctor, and so he had a great deal of luxuries afforded him, as as result. The best education money could acquire, and clearly inheriting some of his father's aptitude, Ryan was able to apply himself well in classes and school, but had very little aim in life. Right up until he was involved in what should have been a fatal car accident at the age of 17. The collision totaled both vehicles, and Ryan was caught in the middle of it. The closest thing to a miracle was that the collision had not instantly killed him. But Ryan was not going to survive it. No chance. The injuries crushed many of his vital organs and his body was inoperable. His skeleton was crushed, and all that mattered was whether he'd die in a few days or a few hours. Or would have, if his father hadn't done something drastic. Using the family wealth, Ryan's father called in favors from everyone he knew. Ryan's human body was gone. So they built him a new one. Top engineers from around the world, scientists, and the like, Ryan's father paid them all off to reconstruct Ryan's shattered body and save his life. Time was short, but the operation was successful. By the end of the operation, all that was left of Ryan's original body was some parts of his face, such as his left eye, his mouth, and large pieces of his skull, and his internal organs. The vaguest remnants of a human inside a walking piece of life support.
Thanks to the operation, Ryan was able to continue living, but his life was somewhat emptier than before. He realized now, that his prospects had shifted. He was something new. That hadn't been seen before. Better in some ways, but would he be worse in others? A normal human could live well into their 90's. Ryan was dependent entirely on technology now. If his new technological body failed, he would die. Relationships? Were those even possible now? Ryan was, in some ways, permanently trapped at the age of 17. His mechanical body wouldn't age like other people. A normal life.... an ordinary life... that seemed impossible now. Ryan worked hard not to lose hope and stay determined, learning to make the most of his new body, hoping that one day, the reason for his existence would be made clear.
