Hanging out with friends was always fun. A date with her boyfriend was a surefire good time. But sometimes a girl just needed a night to herself.
It was a cool fall evening, a pleasant hush enveloping the city as a crisp breeze carried the fallen leaves through the streets. The last golden rays of sunshine were starting to dip below the horizon, turning the sky a blend of reds, pinks and oranges. In the quiet atmosphere, filled only with the sounds of the low wind and distant traffic, Swift sat on a bench in the Plaza and watched the sunset, a cup of Chai tea in her hands, headphones tucked into her canine ears as he iPod shuffled through her Nightwish collection.
A moment of peace... She had to admit, it felt nice. The wolf hanyo was almost always on edge, and even now she knew better than to let her guard down completely. But at the very least, Swift could appreciate the serenity while it lasted.

"Hehehe... we should come here more often~!"
Flint stared into the object in his hand- a massive sapphire carved into the shape of a human skull. Yeah, it'd cost him a lot, but it was sure to be one of the stars of his collection! Besides, human money wasn't that big of a concern for him. He would've probably broken in and stolen it had the old man not been willing to part with the sapphire skull. It'd certainly look great next to the femurs and actual skulls.
"Ha... this place has been great for my collection... Now, let's just see what else I can get my claws on! Hey, that looks n- Gah!!"
As the dragon pelt had not been paying attention to the streets, and found himself tripping over someone else's leg. The sapphire skull went flying out of his hands. "Oh gods, oh gods, oh gods-!!"
Chink. The morbidly-shaped sapphire remained undamaged, as sapphire has a Mohs hardness score of 9.

"MMH-!" A few drops of Chai tea spilled onto Swift's jacket. With the cup obscuring her vision, she hadn't noticed how close the passerby was until he tripped over her outstretched legs. The hot liquid hardly deterred her; rather than fret over it, she set her cup aside and crouched over the downed man.
"Whoa, hey, sorry about that! Didn't se ya there!" She offered him a hand, not thinking too hard about how he might react to her clawed fingertips, never mind the intricately-detailed bronze ring on her finger.

"Gahrl..."
After Flint tripped, a hand with claws was extended, presumably to help him up. The dragon didn't think too much of the claws- judging by the ears, she was probably a wolf pelt that chose to keep her ears out for whatever reason. The ring, however... It's pretty tiny, but it's really pretty! I gotta have that!! But somehow I doubt she'll give it to me.
"I, uh, was doing just fine on my own," Flint said, although accepting the hand to get back to his feet. "Nice ring you got. Would be a shame if ya lost that finger, huh?"
Whatever the girl expected after that line, the green-clad man turning to merely pick up the sapphire skull and begin inspecting it for damage probably wasn't it...

Swift's left ear folded back slightly, as much as the headphone tucked inside it would allow. Her eyebrow perked into a suspicious grimace. "Uhhhhh... Yeaaaaah..."
As soon as the man was back on his feet, Swift stuck her hands in her pockets, her bright amber eyes flicking between him and the sapphire skull he had picked up. Her polite tone had quickly reverted to one of skepticism and discomfort. "Well, uh... hope you and your little trinket are alright. Sorry again."
She backed away from him and picked up her tea with her left hand, the one that didn't have the ring, ready to move past that awkward encounter but still keeping him in her line of sight.

"Suppose there's nothin' in this plaza."
Flint said this aloud, and after deeming the sapphire skull undamaged, stuffed it into a pouch. Afterwards, he tensed up slightly, before jumping into the air, producing a small burst of smoke. Where Flint once stood was now a purple wyvern, pure blue eyes scanning the horizon. "Let's see what else this has to offer."
The wyvern took flight, seemingly heading off into the skies above and far away from the plaza...

............Well then.
Swift watched this occur with wide, albeit vacant eyes. Strangeness in and of itself was not exactly strange to her. She had seen plenty of her friends transform into other creatures, be it benign or mythical, voluntarily or otherwise. Heck, she'd seen one of her best friends take on draconic traits before. But that? That was a new one. She didn't look surprised or scared by Flint's altered form. She simply looked half dumbfounded and half "yeah sure, why not". She almost would have been impressed if she wasn't already so put off.
But hey, that was Dimensional Island for you. Seeing a man turn into a wyvern wasn't going to completely ruin her night, but at the very least, the mood had been effectively killed. Now seemed like a good time for Swift to head home.
"Meh..." With a weak shrug, Swift turned around and started to do just that. As she strolled down the sidewalk, she kept her eyes on the skies, peeled for that purple beast.

Yeah, that's right... out of sight, out of mind...
Confident that the wolf pelt (or so he thought) had forgotten about him, Flint flew low to the ground, hunter's instincts kicking in. Keeping his wingbeats silent, his breathing low...
Suppressing a growl, the wyvern made a lunging movement for the wolf girl, his head colliding with her back, followed by quickly shifting back to his humanlike state, the same smoke appearing, Flint using it as a cover as he scanned for that ring...

The wyvern was downwind, his wingbeats soft and smooth. Swift only sensed him coming a split second before he hit, giving her no time to react. She felt to the ground with a low yelp, her tea mug flying out of her hand and spilling the rest of its contents upon impact, her headphones slipping off her head and clattering to the sidewalk.
Swift was quick to scramble to her hands and knees as smoke surrounded her. She could now very clearly smell the dragon man as he reverted to his humanoid form and searched the ground, presumably for her ring. Did he not realize it was custom fit for her finger and wouldn't just fly off by gravity and momentum alone?
Well, he struck first...
Yoki charged through her body as Swift leaped off the sidewalk, swinging her arm and raking her claws through the open air. Pink energy extended from her fingertips, striking Flint across the back like four bladed whips. Then, without missing a beat, Swift touched down and bolted away from the scene with inhuman speed.
"Bakayarô!!!"

"Y-YIPE!!!!"
When Swift's pink energy waves struck Flint, the draconic man yelped as they tore into his back. He cursed his pitiful magical resistance as he once again fell to the ground...
Once he had recovered from the attack, Flint looked around. No sign of the wolf lady. Sniff... sniff...
"I know where you're goin', little meatling. Shame, your pretty face isn't gonna be too pretty after this."

Great. Just what Swift needed. A treasure hunter. And a dragon one at that. Talk about stereotypes. Judging by that giant sapphire cut in the shape of a freaking skull, she would've figured a tiny bronze ring would be small potatoes to this creep. Apparently not.
Well, he wasn't getting it without a fight, that was for darn sure.
All things considered, though, Swift wasn't in the mood for a fight. She simply sped through the city at top speed, aiming to get to the apartment complex as fast as she could. She'd defend herself if she had to, of course. She wasn't about to lose her ring to this guy. Neither of them would be happy with the results if she did.

"Hmm... Hehehe~"
Figuring his chances would be better if he struck from the air, Flint once again transformed and took to the sky, following the scent of the wolf lady. Clearly one of the best thinkers of his time.
"One way, or another, I'm gonna get'cha...!"
