"... As long as he's not trying to eat us, I suppose I'll let this Proto do whatever he wants. Maybe he'll knock out a fleet or eat the top officer." Will sighed and sat down, about to process whatever it was that may occur. "Anyways, on a more pressing note... an... acquaintance of our's has pissed off a bunch of war-happy angels and they probably want us all dead. Not that we provoked a fight, we're just sticking up for this island..."
"Ooooh. That sounds like a problem." Again, Leanne didn't sound concerned about the angels and their homicidal tendencies. "Val, yeah? What're you doin' here?"
"Looking for information that may be related to where Seeker went. I'm not sure if it was angels..."

"Yup. That was kinda my hope too, Will." Ranuen admitted, regarding Proto just generally causing some problems for the angels. "He's definitely a wild card. Dunno how reliable he is, but I think we can bet he'll at least be a nuisance to them, right?" He commented, before looking back at Leanne. "You... don't seem to fussed about the situation. Is this sort of a standard affair for you guys?"
Life or death battle was one thing for Ranuen, but being some big protector of an island against an entire army? That was new for him. But in truth, he didn't know a ton about Will or Leanne's situation. Or Percy's. Maybe this wasn't so much a first for them afterall? Leanne at least didn't seem to be particularly concerned so.... that was a positive.
As Val spoke, Ranuen looked over at her. "I mean, angels are certainly the new faces on the block, so that's kinda suspicious, but on this island? Could be any number of things." Ranuen sighed a bit and looked at Will. "Speaking of which, I should probably be conserving my strength shouldn't I?" He grumbled a little towards Will, whom Ranuen realized was probably the only person present that was aware of his combative handicap. "Just in case some of them show up, I don't want to run outta magic at a bad time. Probably nothing'll happen but you know. Since we are kinda on their hitlist as well..."

"Oh, uh, yeah! It'd be kinda a big problem if that happened. Well, go on. Just hop on my shoulder for now, I guess." Motioning to his shoulder, Will decided he'd let Leanne know of the true scale of the angel forces later. For now he'd just roll with her attitude. "So... you don't think it was angels?"
"Those feathery things molt like crazy and can't be assed to clean up." Val replied, looking into her book, flipping a few pages, frowning. "Listen. Seeker's made themselves an enemy of this cult for getting a few of their members behind bars for life." She turned her book towards the group, several passages and words censored by a dark ink. "It wouldn't surprise me if they took 'em as revenge. But read this."
"... Is that...?"
"... Nrgh... that's fucked-up, and I know what scaphism is."
"... Oh, right. You probably can't read the Paradiso script. The gist of it is that there's some kind of sacrificial something. Unfortunately, whoever had this book before me censored, what I am going to assume are the details and what the performer gets..."

Ranuen grumbled a small bit, disappointed that introductions and first impressions on Leanne, as well as... current(?) impressions on Val were about to be dissuaded, but he'd brought it up because he'd considered it a viable point, and now Will was agreeing with him. "Yeah, alright." He grumbled as the swordsman quickly diminished in size. He walked over towards Will, still staying keyed into the conversation up above now. "Angels molt like crazy?" He did not know that and would be putting that knowledge aside for later to be able to make quick judgments as to angelic involvement in the affairs down here.
The talk about the cult was interesting as well. "Huh.... So.... that's a lead." Ranuen noted. Seeing Val pull out a book and mention to "read this" he frowned a bit, mostly due to the fact that she was presently holding the book way over his head right now and he had no way of doing so. But it seemed that he probably wouldn't have been able to read it anyways. "A sacrifice!? ....Ah geeze..." That did not bode well for Seeker. "So I'm guessing that Seeker might be the man of the evening, huh?" He suggested, racking his brains for any information he knew about rituals and the like. "If this is some major deal, it'll probably happen on a significant night or day or something, right? Are there any special events happening soon? Some special day, or even something like a full or new moon or something in the near future you guys know about?" He asked.
It was when Ranuen actually reached Will, that he suddenly realized that he'd left actually getting to Will's shoulder from the ground out of his calculations. Oh well. Ranuen checked Will's pant leg and shirt, planning on how to climb up him to the shoulder. It'd be fine, as long as nobody lost track of where he was on the ground, right?

"Oh, uh, right. Hang on." Reaching down, Will picked Raunen off his pant leg and placed the little man on his shoulder. "Sorry if this seems patronizing, but I figure you'd rather be patronized than stepped on, yeah?" Turning to Leanne and Val, he rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry. I'll let Raunen explain this..."
After Raunen explained his issue, Val continued. "... I see. Don't shrink on them, or so help me old gods, I will kill you if those angels don't. Back to business. If there is any time, then it's also censored. How convenient. No, really. Look." Showing the inside of the book, the passages were indeed censored, as were several areas that could have been pictures. "If there is no time... and there isn't any... Shit. I need to grab Flint. We need to do a few sky scans..." Turning away before someone could see the panic in her eyes, Val power-walked out of the museum. "Flint! Flint! Get your ass in gear!"
"... Okay, I'm no friend of Seeker, but it seems wrong to leave her at the hands of a murderous cult." Standing up fast, he quickly made sure Raunen didn't fall. "Whoa! Careful!"
"Yer doin' it 'cuz you think Val's hot, bro." Ahh, there's the usual snark from Leanne.
"Shut up, Leanne."
"Val I love you, Val I do, when we're apart~~~"
My heart beats only for you~.

As Will picked Ranuen up, he sighed. "Don't worry about it. I've gotten used to it, to the point I don't really mind anymore." He replied, almost glumly. "Being picked up or stepped on is far from the worst thing that's happened to me since this happened." He added as Will placed him on his shoulder, before giving the very quick cliff notes to Val and Leanne. Quick, because it still remained an uncomfortable topic for him.
He was certainly.... surprised by Val's warning. It might have to do with the fact that Val had gotten significantly more intimidating, the moment she became the size of a skyscraper relative to Ranuen. "I will..... definitely keep your warning in mind then, Val." He replied, shaking slightly. But Val now seemed to be very nervous about something, as she headed out quickly, and Ranuen glanced at Will. "I'm assuming you're going to go and assist your princess, aren't you?" He commented, trying to regain some of his prior optimism, and Will confirmed that he seemed interested in helping out Val.
"It's literally written on your face, and I can tell that your heart started beating about a dozen times faster the minute she showed up." Ranuen replied. "But that said, I don't mind at all, getting a chance to cut loose on some unfortunate punks, you know. What about you Leanne?"

"... Trust me, Raunen. Given the legal opportunity, I will kill you for that remark." Will sighed and looked in the direction Val had left. "Well, no point in waiting. Gotta... go... do something! Hold on tight!" Wow Will, apparently you can be fast when your princess is in trouble.
She is NOT my princess!
Leanne chuckled, before following after her very-flustered big bro. "Just like the old days, eh? Teasin' Will about his crush on Val... I think we'll be fine!"
Yes. We will be fine.
A grey beast watched as these strange entities left...

Ranuen chuckled wryly at Will's frustration. It was maybe just a little mean, but he couldn't help it. As someone with his own little berserk button, he would well know how irritating it could be to have it poked, but one could never say Ranuen was perfect. At any rate it was bringing his spirits back up. "Well, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any laws passed on killing ants then." Just a bit of self deprecating humor there. As Will took off though, he grabbed hold of his shirt, and indeed, held on tight.
Hearing Leanne behind him though, Ranuen's grin grew. "I feel like we're gonna get along just fine, Leanne."
