Full Name: Daniel Mallory
Nickname(s): Danny, Dan, Spaz, Fuzzy Cthulhu
Age: 21
Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 290 lbs.
Gender: Male
Race: Monster (Formerly Human)
Alliance: Neutral Good
Home: Brownsville, Kentucky
Franchise: Agartha (Original Story; Working Title)
Physical Description
Once a fairly average human, Danny has been transformed into a monstrous state he himself refers to as "Fuzzy Cthulhu." He's quite tall by human standards, as well as noticeably chubby. His body is covered head to toe in short purple fur with blue stripes on his cheeks, arms, cat-like tail, and bat-like wings. In place of his hair, he possesses fully functional, purple tentacles; his head is further adorned with stubby horns, pointed and fringed ears, glowing orange cat eyes, a mouthful of fangs, a long tongue that doubles as a proboscis, and a set of gills. Claws tip his hands and prehensile, birdlike feet, and pointed spines jut out of his elbows, back, and tip of his tail. The simple attire he has been provided consists of a plain silver tee-shirt and jeans, properly adjusted for his numerous appendages.
Weapons and Accessories
Aside from his own claws, Danny doesn't possess any personal weapons, and he isn't particularly liable to pick any up either. He does have his phone with him, at least, though the screen is a little cracked from his rough landing.
Abilities/Powers
Danny's monster form provides him with a boost to his physicality, granting him strength and durability beyond peak human potential. His senses of smell, taste, hearing and sight are highly acute, with his night vision of particular note. He is capable of gliding and short spurts of flight with his wings (still getting used to this one), and his gills allow him to breathe underwater as well as on land.
Weaknesses
Considering he has spent little time in his monster form, Danny has not fully adjusted to his current anatomy, rendering him incredibly clumsy and liable to trip over his own two feet.
Skills
Despite what one might think for one so well-rounded in the world of video games, Danny was a fairly athletic guy prior to his transformation; when he gets going, he's pretty decent in a fistfight and in general self-defense. He knows his way around lighting systems and the computer programs that run them, as well as the hardware and software of computers themselves. However, his secret passion is writing and storytelling, and when he's truly in the creative mood, he can weave some pretty engaging prose.
Personality
At a glance, Danny is a somewhat hard guy to read. He generally comes across as lazy, unmotivated, emotionally lax, and often grumpy, all of which is true to an extent. The fact of the matter is that no one knows Danny more than himself. He knows what he likes and what he wants, but he struggles when it comes to pursuing it, and he's generally loathe to ask for help, given his history of receiving advice he didn't want or ask for. He would much rather enjoy what he has in the moment than try something new and risk disappointment. Live with him in that moment, and you'll find that Danny can be a fun, laid-back, and dryly humorous guy. Push him out of his comfort zone, and he will invariably get defensive and aggressive. Look deep inside him, and you may see a kid full of self-doubt and an acknowledgement that he has no idea what he's doing.
History
Danny was born and raised as a normal human kid in Kentucky. When he was twelve, his parents underwent a rocky divorce; his mother quickly remarried while his father moved out of the state and severed his ties with his family, an abandonment that Danny never fully recovered from. His older sister, Clary, got pregnant her senior year of high school and dropped out, eventually marrying Levi, her long-time boyfriend and the father of her daughter, Moira. Following his own graduation, Danny attended a local college with an undecided major, managing only a single semester before dropping out himself.
Feeling pressured by his family to either try school again or pursue a career he had no interest in, Danny moved out of his mother's house and in with Clary and Levi. There he spent three years playing video games, picking up and quickly quitting numerous part-time jobs, and writing some occasional short stories as he waited for inspiration to come to him. Following an unpleasant reunion with his mother and stepfather at Moira's birthday party, Danny got into a heated argument with Clary that ended with him storming out of the house. He eventually wound up at Mammoth Cave National Park, where he stopped to blow off steam and reminisce. After hiking through the caves, Danny found himself drawn to and blinded by a strange light, resulting in him falling down the cave's Bottomless Pit.
Surviving the fall thanks to the light, Danny wound up in the subterranean continent of Agartha. While unconscious, he was found by two members of the kingdom's monster population: a girl his age named Kiko, and her uncle Landon. Urged by Landon, Kiko used her magic to transform an unknowing and unwitting Danny into a monster to help him blend in, draining her energy in the process and leaving Danny stuck in his new hodgepodge form. With few other options, Danny teamed up with Kiko, Landon, and eventually another monster named Ara to find a way to become human again and return to the surface...
(The full story is still a work in progress. Details here may be ironed out in the future.)
Other
Ever since becoming a monster, Danny's developed an insatiable appetite, something he is deeply ashamed of.
