And So The War Begins

"D-DOUBLE D!!"

No one was fast enough. Though he had risen a force field, Lucifer's swipes had shattered the protection, launching him to the ground. Disoriented, and his friends hurt and out of reach, there was no stopping Lucifer's next attack.

Even so... he still was not afraid.

[Felix Falora]

Lucifer quickly raised his foot and brought it crushing down on the little boy. A sudden snap caught Felix's ear. It pierced his very heart and soul like a bullet. "E... EDWARD!!!!!!!!!" Quickly darting out to him, though the speed proved even he, with his new powers, wouldn't have made it in time, Felix appeared in front of Edd and immediately drew his sword, sending wave after wave of slashes and slices into Lucifer before knocking him back and sheathing his sword so he could look over his love.

"UNH...!"

"NO!!!"

"DOUBLE D!!!!"

It was an unbelievable pain that spread through his torso as he felt his spine and sternum shatter under Lucifer's boot... but the pain ebbed away quickly, warmed by the blood flowing from the wound in his chest.

It wasn't as terrifying as he thought... dying. Sounds around him dulled into a gentle hum... his muscles began to relax... he had suffered more pain from lesser wounds.

"No no no no no no no...!" Ed sobbed as they all began to gather around him. "Tell me it's an illusion, Mi!!"

"It's... n-no-no..."

"My god...!" Fletcher swallowed, the situation barely sinking in. "E...Eddward...!"

[Here comes Roland again! Don't worry, I won't do anything to interfere with the plot-line you've got going... (Smirks) So here's a good idea.)

When pushed aside at Felix's insistence, Roland took the oppurtunity to drag a still unconscious Shadow over to the Sidelines with the others. After healing a few more wounds he took to watching the battle like everyone did...

However, NOTHING prepared him for the fate that had been handed to Double D.

Everything was a blur, it was unbelievable. But Roland kept his cool, maybe there was still a chance.

"Stand back!" He pushed through the crowd and over to Double D. "Give him some air!" Once he pushed through the last person, he quickly pulled out his mace. "Stand back, I'm a Sage but I know some healing spells." Falling to his knees, he put himself on the same level with Double D, "Young one, if you can hear me, try to stay with us." Upon no rational response, he started to sweat. "No..." Quickly lifting his mace, a bright white light appeared. "CURAGA!!"

There was a bright flash... Roland looked down to Double D...

It had no effect.

"No! Don't let it be that!" He lifted his mace and tried again. "CURAGA!!" Another bright flash, but still no sign of recovery. He tried again, still nothing...

After a moment, Roland lifted himself to his feet, using his mace to help with that, he suddenly seemed to wobble greatly. "I've tried... Something's wrong... With these wounds... My magic... Can't heal it..." He turned to the others, "He's went the extra mile, that devil has enchanted these wounds where I cannot heal them..."

He turned to Lucifer, growling like an wounded animal. "How dare you?!? You Cowardly, Murderous, Demonic, Foul~?!?!?!?!?" He was knocked aside by a simple movement of a hand from Lucifer. He wasn't out, but he was injured a bit. "How true it is for you to be called the Deciever!! For you to strike so low!!!"

[By the by... Did I see right previously that Lucifer is weak against Holy Water?]

"CRAP!" Matilde was losing it. "What the hell do we do NOW?!"

"F.....f...." Choking past the blood coming up from his throat and running down the corners of his mouth, Double D used all the strength he had left to look up at his beloved. "F......Feee... lixxx..."

[Felix Falora]

"What have I done?!" Shinichi cried.

"Edward! Oh god... No..." Trevor muttered.

Back at the apartment, Masahiro's eyes widened. In the room, Marion began to cry loudly. Nazz and Schrodinger looked up as they both noticed the angel's reaction along with the babies. "What's going on?!" Nazz asked in an almost panicked tone, unsuited to her character.

"Lucifer... killed... Edward..." Masahiro breathed.

"NO!" Nazz shouted immediately, hardly able to believe it. "YOU'RE LYING!"

"Oh mein god," Schrodinger merely breathed. "Felix... Von't he...?"

"Edward!" Felix cried. "I didn't think he'd... I'm so...!"

(forgive the mild godmodding up ahead.)

"....wait..." Eddy sat up, suddenly breathless. "Wait wait wait wait...!" Quickly, he leaned forward. "L-l-look at the wound!!"

Uneasily, they did so. A typical, rust-red stain injury...

...but deeper in... the blood was stained ivory white.

"Wait..." Ed suddenly gasped. "...n... No! NO WAY!!"

His stunned response was followed by a beam of light shining down from the heavens. They all backed away as Eddward was lifted off the ground; still mildly limp from physical weakness, but very much alive, judging by the enduring look on his face.

A voice spoke from on high...

"One's spirit cultivated from all the forces of good,
One whose mortal heart, immortal soul so pure..."

Double D let out a groan, not one of pain, but more of a release. A soft light began to glow around his chest, his wound healing.

"One so brave, so noble,
Who made the ultimate sacrifice..."

He continued to groan, the more the light spread. It especially gathered near his back.

"Rarely are such requirements met
For one to become a true carrier of light...
Yet here you are."

Burning with life, filling with a power rarely given, he let out a soft cry and arched back.

"Accept the affinity of light...
The first ever human soul..."

And from his arched back, in a series of sparkles, translucent shapes of blue and violet pushed themselves out. They weren't connected by skin, but by something much deeper.

"...to earn the right to the wings of an angel."

The crying suddenly stopped and Masahiro's head rose again. He looked out the window and his eyes widened. A beam of light rose to the sky. "It's... impossible," he muttered.

"E-Edward!" Felix gasped as the boy was overtaken in the beam of light.

"Damn!" Trevor said. "Now there's something you don't see everyday!"

As the voice spoke, Felix's eyes widened. "The first human... to earn our wings..."

"IMPOSSIBLE!" Lucifer roared. "A HUMAN EARNING ANGELLIC WINGS?! IT IS UNHEARD OF!"

"NO! FREAKING! WAY!" Eddy cheered loudly as their friend revitilized right before them.

"YAAAAAAAAAY!!!"

"My god..." Fletcher found himself breathless. "Eddward's... he's...!"

"It's... amazing...!" Michiko whispered in awe.

"Awaken... Angel of Light."

They all kept their eyes glued to him as the light dimmed and he floated down gently, staggering a bit as he fell into Felix's arms, moaning. Nothing had physically changed about him, dizzy eyes still fresh blue, body still small and lanky...

The only difference were the beautiful wings that hovered just above his shoulder blades, where wings usually protruded from. Their color progressed from violet to blue outwards, swirling and translucent... just like his force fields, but in the shape of otherworldly feathers.

Observing them numbly behind him, Double D dragged his disoriented gaze up to Felix's. His facial expression was almost comical.

"D...does this mean... it's not my time yet?"

[Felix Falora]

Felix looked at Double D as he held him in his arms. "Edward," he gasped. "You... You're the prophesized one?... That means..."

"ENOUGH!" The roar took them off guard as Lucifer stood tall. "I will not be made a mockery of."

"... ... ..." Felix put Double D back on his feet softly. "What do you say, my love?" Drawing his sword, holding it in a regal manner, he smirked softly. "What say you and I destroy this unholy beast together?"

"R...really?" Double D's face brightened up considerably at that. "...Nothing... would make me happier, Felix."

"WOOO!!"

"KICK HIS ASS, GUYS!!"

"HAHAH, YEAH!"

Seeking to equally arm himself, Double D experimentally head out his hand, and with far less concentration than it took before, and force field pulsed and instantly changed shape, stretching and flattening out into a short sword. It glowed a warm yellow light, surprising him. "Well... that's new."

[Felix Falora]

(Play epic battle music here)

"Indeed," Felix said as Lucifer roared.

"I WILL EXTERMINATE YOU, PESTS!"

"Now... we finish this!" Felix said as his figure dissapeared in what seemed to be an afterimage and he knocked Lucifer into the air with but a single stroke of the sword towards Double D. As he was struck, Lucifer began to shrink in size; a bit of twilight energy within the blade negated his magical abilities. By the time he'd reach Double D, he would be normal size again.

Double D knew what he had to do. He drew his weapon back, and as Lucifer was sent his way, he swung forward and plunged the translucent blade into the heart of the Prince of Darkness.

Needless to say, with the heavenly light piercing him, this time the attack was most effective.

[Felix Falora]

Black blood oozed from Lucifer's mouth as he immediately attempted to slam Double D down. This time, Felix was fast. Like a bullet, he sped in. With one slash, Lucifer's arm came off. A roar of pain echoed across the world and then Felix helped Double D pull the blade from Lucifer before the finale... "Edward... combine your powers with me. The only way to defeat this demon for good... is to exterminate his very spirit."

"Ahh...alright!" Though he wasn't quite sure how to go about doing so, he trusted Felix to take over once he took his beloved by the hand. Instantly, he passed into a trance, feeling the very fibers of his soul mingling with Felix's...
