"Hey, what's going on?" 4, with little care for what people typically deem polite, opened the apartment door and stepped in. "I haven't stopped by for a while, so... uh..." he stopped. He was no good with people, but he could tell when something was wrong.
"Crap. What happened?"

Double D sniffled, glancing between Felix and the door. "I... I.. alright..." he eventually mumbled, trying to take hold of the door again without much luck. The claws really got in the way. "Ngh... aw, come ON...!"

Finally, the door opened for him, and he jumped back slightly at Eddy's odd look.
"Okay, seriously," he muttered. "What's going o...?"
Double D didn't bother hiding his hands. When he finally gained the courage to glance up, he found Eddy's stare to reflect shock, most definitely.
"Whoa... the heck...?"
"I...I..."

"Oh... my... god..." Trevor looked frightened and hid behind Masahiro.
Masahiro backhanded Trevor. He, surprsingly, looked normal.
"We don't know what's going on," Felix said softly. "But other then appearence, Edward hasn't changed in the slightest! If anyone has a problem with it, they can either leave or deal with me."
"No need to get defensive," Masahiro said softly. "If this didn't happen, I would've sworn Double D had not turned into a true angel at all."

"Uhhhhh..." Seeing Masahiro's vicious slap, and aware of Felix's own power, Eddy wisely backed off. "I-I-I don't got a problem! No, sir!"
"Double D..." Ed gasped lightly, but in sympathy, not in fear.
"High Ones..." Skywise breathed, properly shocked as he looked over Double D's claws. "It's still something we should worry about, though. Not be afraid of, but definitely concern ourselves with."

"We should definently defend him, that's for sure. I've heard stories about this. There are apparantly two kinds of angels... highbourne and commoners. Highbourne, such as myself and Felix, are born naturally fine. Commoners are born without all the powers we have. They're usually half-angels, like Marion might be, or full angels birthed from a human. But commoners go through some sort of transformation. At first it looks demonic and it causes the commoner to look deformed and monstrous. The first few commoners to go through this were shunned and hated. They fell due to the anger and hatred they built up. But after one commoner persisted throughout all of this, he became a highbourne. Suddenly the transformation was seen in a higher light. They say it's easier to change now and some angels in Heaven acclaim to being former commoners."
"What does any of that mean?!" Trevor asked.
"Well... since Double D became an angel from a human status, he's probably even lower then a commoner... maybe he'd have been considered scum if such a thing were to become common," Masahiro said. Of course Felix now loomed over him, but a quick flash of his eye and suddenly Felix was back next to Double D. "I'm not insulting Double D nor am I insinuating in any aspect him becoming an angel is bad, but some angels, despite the holiness of the race, can be quite... snobbish. But after the transformation, Double D should become a highbourne, like Felix and myself... but as he is a human turning into an angel transforming, I don't know what the transformation will be like. Some angels have had minor showings of demonic appearence. Others have been moderately changed, skin turning jetblack, claws, fangs... But Double D might just show major changes... He may even come to temporarily look exactly like a monster."

Double D squeaked in horror, covering half his face, but still showing wide eyes of terror. Is that what he was destined for? Is this what his wings granted him? Was this punishment for something he did wrong...?
"So, you're saying he has to turn into a monster before he can become a real angel?" Raz made a face. "Uh... okay... sounds paradoxal, if you ask me."
"A...monster..."
"Aww, Double D..." Seeking to comfort, Ed stood by and grinned typically. "You're no monster! Even if you look like one, I'll never believe it."
"Yeah, seriously," Eddy stepped up, sticking a finger into Double D's chest. "The higher-ups knew this would happen, but they gave you wings anyway. If they didn't think you deserved it or could get through this, they wouldn't have made you an angel in the first place, right?"

"You'll be fine," Masahiro said. "The change is painless and a one-way trip. After you become a highbourne, you will never have to experience it again... so I've heard."

"I....I hope s...!" He gasped, holding his own mouth shut.
"Double D?"
"Mh... mh tehth..." he grunted. "Fels.. odd...!"
Without thinking, desperate to know what he meant, Ed leaned in and propped the corner of Double D's mouth open with his thumb. Despite the lad's widened eyes and whine of protest, the investigation revealed elongated fangs.
"Whoa."

"I could be wrong, of course," Masahiro said, getting a look from Felix when Double D said he felt something. "I didn't go through it and neither did you."

"It didn't hurt... jus felt weird," Double D clarified, slightly lisping as he rubbed them. "I felt them stretch, ish all..."
"This is all too strange," Fleetfoot noted. "But at least it's only temporary, and you'll complete your conversion. Maybe more powers will be at your disposal afterwards."
"You said he's an Angel of Light, right?" Skywise reminded. "Maybe that means he'll gain more light-based powers, rather than the elementals you two have. I've heard healing arts are affinited with light."

"Hey, we have light-based abilities," Masahiro said. "... They're just not the best."
"Maybe he'll gain access to spells like Holy," Felix said. "No one except the purest of individuals can get spells like that."
"... ... ... You realize that's a Final Fantasy spell, right?" Masahiro asked Felix.
