Uno seemed surprised, but her face suddenly burst into a huge grin. Dexter had actually acknowledged her as something other than a simple robot, "Okay, see you then! I mean," she turned to Mandark, she could practically hear his twitching, "Providing I don't have to screw up your files or something... Uh, Mandark... sorry?"

Ah, yes. Mandark's twitch. Set on by only a few things. Awkward moments, losing, and his programs being nice to his arch-enemy. But then... he stopped. And for a second, a mere second, his eyes dulled a dark red. For a deep second, he had a rather maniacal cackling going on inside of himself. Not even his USUAL one. It was more... dark. Low.
For a brief second, he wasn't just some random, chaotic neutral guy. No. For a brief second, he was truly...
Evil. Chaotic evil, even. And then a smile found it's way onto his lips. His pupils went out of view, the angle of his glasses obscuring them.
"Yeeees... I am certain that Uno and I shall be seeing you around. But hey, before you go, tell me more of these... 'Dark Insects'." He asked, fingers laced together.
"It's quite alright, Uno." His voice was still seething with dark intentions.
He had a certain, ah... 'wager' for the other boy genius, depending on his response. However, if he choce not to tell Mandark about said insects, well...
...there was always plan B.

Dexter raised a brow. He had never seen this type of grin on Mandark's face before. It was the same grin a spider gives a fly trapped in its web.
"...I'll give you files ONLY if you agree to aid in these creatures' destruction."

Uno at first thought Mandark was mad at her, but his reassurance that things were fine seemed to settle her. Which was disconcerting in its own way, as that "reassurance" would have scared the crap out of most. In fact, to her it was almost comforting, but for reasons she couldn't nail down. She turned towards Dexter again, and crossed her arms. And also spoke in a voice that was a bit darker than previous.
"What makes you think I won't get the files without your permission," she said, her usually calm look becoming just enough darker to illicit worry.
She didn't realize it, Dexter couldn't, but Mandark may have sensed things. She had been formed from a psychotic computer virus, after all. It seemed more of his programming was inherent in her than was easily apparent... but at this point only Mandark may pick up on that. A bit of the digital distortiong from earlier rose off her shoulders and up from around her head, but once again it wasn't targeted at Mandark.
In fact, it was specifically targed at Dexter's systems, and she seemed to be tyring to make some kind of point with the display...
(OOC: Aka it would be a great twist for one of his weaker systems on hand to crap out. XD)

The sadistic grin upon Mandark's face increased in size. At this point, it was apparent that it was physically impossible for him to smile any wider. He was like the Cheshire Cat, merely lacking the power of invisibility. Because his invisibility backpack was still back at his base.
"Why, of course I'll aid you. I wouldn't be a gentleman if I didn't. In fact, I'm willing to set up a minor... wager, with you. The parameters being, of course, whomever destroys the most creatures gets to keep the laaaast ooone." Mandark stated, in a low, sing-song voice.
And then he turned to Uno. He had a plan, a very shabbily put together plan, but a plan indeed. And as much as much as he wanted to commend her for her sudden turn for the more chaotic, he needed the boy to trust him as much as possible. Which, considering the two characters in question, wasn't a lot. But Mandark was prepared to 'milk' his chances, so to speak.
"Now now, Uno. We wouldn't want to steal from him, would we? No, that would be wrong. While I do like your sudden change in your predecessor's direction, I'm going to have to ask you to refrain." Mandark glanced in Uno's general direction. And there it was again. That flash of malevolence. It was clear that if she persisted, he was prepared to repeat himself.
His tone was, actually, slightly commanding. There was a bit of masked malice within his voice. For a mere nanosecond, a frown crossed his face, before disappearing to reveal his unsettling grin.

Straightening up, Dexter whipped out his handheld and checked it. There it was, the computer's mainframe, opened, after he had meticuliously set up its security systems before leaving with it. None of the files had been removed, damaged, accessed or even touched... but still. These two meant business.
And predessecor? Mandark made more than ONE of these?
Dexter came to the conclusion that this was becoming potentionally a very, very dangerous situation. But when had that ever stopped him before?
Besides... keep friends close and enemies closer.
He raised up his hands defensively, doing his best to play it cool. Mandark's current expression didn't help much. "Now, now, there's no need for force... I always welcome a challenge from a... worthy opponent."

Uno's eyes locked with Mandark's, and it was likely the timing of his order that prevented any damage to Dexter's files. She nodded and her aggressive stance faded juuuust a little. Enough to cause the distortion rising off her to fall in any case. The fact that Mandark was still keeping his dark expression prevented it from falling too much. Her glare made it apparent she could cause the distortion to rise again. But she did nod and took a step back. She still didn't have full control and wanted to avoid accidentally damaging Dexter's files.
Besides, the other boy seemed willing to cooperate with Mandark for now, and if he was getting what he wanted there was no need to act up. Yet. She waited for the situation to advance.

"Of course, you must realize. The creatures managed to make it this far out into our universe, in keeping with my theory on the 'multiverse'. If one of us was able to, say, study them, we'd be able to create a similar propulsion system and have Homo-Sapiens out here by this time next year. If not further. It would be one of the greatest contributions a single scientist has ever given." Mandark continued, flicking his wrist.
"But of course you also realize that the creatures could be used for... evil. They could be... cloned. Or, even more, their propulsion system and their means of attack could be copied. Now, if either you or I were to be the ones to study them, we'd be able to ensure that the worst-case scenario wouldn't happen. But you must also realize that the one of us to study them has to... 'earn' that privilege. However, we must be on equal playing grounds. Which is why I wish to obtain any and all files you have on the subject." Mandark finished, hands going to his arm-rests. He pressed a few buttons on a keyboard-like device at the arm. A small map appeared.
"I've detected... odd readings from various parts of the Island. Quite a few of them have dissipated since I discovered them, however. And then there's this odd... spectral field I'm picking up, somewhere over in the mountain areas. I'd almost call it 'magic', if it wasn't a preposterous idea. I pick up a similar region from the apartment area of Void City. I'm curious as to which of these I should note and which I shouldn't."

Hmm. Interesting. Dexter would get something out of this after all.
"I see you have information I do not possess either," he noted. Looking around and finally noticing the slight carnage around them, he added, "Shall we trade such infomation elsewhere? Before the mall's manager pins the electronic disruption on us?"

Uno glanced at Mandark. She'd go with whatever decision he made. She didn't know much about how programs and viruses were traced, so she was pretty in the dark about Dexter's statements. Although to those that knew their home canon... you put these two in a room and there would be questions if things weren't being blown up. Throw in a Dee Dee look alike and it was surprising they hadn't been accosted already.

Ah, that was right. In retrospect, it was probably a bad idea to bring a sentient virus to a music store. Or anywhere near electronics, for that matter. Mandark's head whipped around, and his face switched from his aforementioned expression to one of surprise, and... slight amusement.
"Quite. I suppose we could always head back to my laboratory...?" Mandark asked, quirking a brow. He had no problem bringing his enemy back to his lab, because... really... could it have been destroyed worse than it already had been?

"....of course." Dexter wouldn't admit that he HAD no definite laboratory yet. He had already been chased out of the Industrial Park by some shady characters, and he only had a temporary workplace at the hotel. Not that Mandark had to know that. He was growing tired of the nerd upstaging him at every turn.
He nodded to both of them. "Let's go, then. Posthaste."
