Himitsu seemed unphased. She looked down at the wooden child's hand with pity in her eyes. You know, the type of reaction known for pissing off anime villians, "If you would like to try, I would not blame you. I apologize, it was rude of me to speak in such a way towards the man you regard as your father. But would one who truly cared for you have used you as such a guinea pig?"
She was speaking about the man in past tense. Which likely meant the words would be lost on Eriol. She was preparing for the boy to attack her. At least his focus had shifted away from his "dead" brother. She wanted to attempt repairs on Kerro, but she had not the same powers as Eriol's Creator. He would not come out the same. And she hoped to get Eriol past his blind adoration of his Father first.

Eriol let go, and looked to the side, his bird hat askew and one side of it covering the eye where most of the paint flaking seemed to be concentrated. He looked almost... innocent.
The Creator hadn't just treated him like a guinea pig. When not in use, Eriol was ignored. Just another piece of furniture. The Creator had loved Yui, not him and Kerro. That had been why he'd snapped.
"I just want him to look at me... like he does Yui..." Eriol mumbled.

Himitsu felt her heart ache. For all the stoic nature she tended to show people she didn't like, she had a rather large heart. Cases such as this would cause her to pass up an artifact, and had in the past. She kept her ground, unsure how the doll would react to any sudden movements. She wasn't sure how to respond...
"Is that why you act as you do? For the attention?"
She was ready to hop out of the way of an attack. She felt so sorry for the doll... that anyone could create life only to kick it to the side. There was a reason she disliked the man the doll called Creator. Had disliked, perhaps. As far as she knew, the man was dead. The fact that two of his creations were on the island... if "Yui" were here as well, she hoped he would remain away. This doll was too off balance to be running into his youngest "brother".

Eriol nodded. If he were human, he would be regretting saying what he had said, but he was a doll, and dolls did not feel regret. In a way, though, he liked Himitsu. She reminded him of the Creator, but in a good way.

Himitsu nodded. She had thought as such. It seemed possible the doll did not know that his Father was dead. And she couldn't tell him, not being sure herself. She knew full well those with powers could live past any normal life expectancy. She was a walking example of this phenomenon. She stepped forward, "There are other ways to earn attention."
She stopped again, however. She still had to pick her words carefully. She had to. The doll seemed unpredictable. She wanted to tell him of his "siblings", but she worried towards his reaction...

Eriol looked up expectantly at this. He hadn't been able to think of any other ways to get the Creator's attention. Before, the Creator had finally acknowledged him after Eriol had killed many people, so he'd thought killing was the way to do so, but it didn't look so.

It seemed to be going well... "Have you tried to help people?"
The thought of bringing Yui up crossed her mind. If she recalled things correctly, Yui had been kind. Kinder than Eriol's broken nature, in any case. But she was gaining ground, now was not the time to drudge up feelings of sibling rivalry. The contrast to the events of earlier was darkly humorous. Cain and Abel. The three clockwork dolls. No, it was almost creepy. This didn't effect her expression as she waited for Eriol's response.

Eriol nodded. That had been the first thing he'd tried with the Creator, but Eriol had just been shrugged off. It had been infuriating.
--------------------
Ion checked a clock nearby. It had been about twenty minutes. Well, that was close enough. He got up and walked back into the shop.
"Is it okay for me to come back now?" he asked.

Himitsu thought for a moment. She was actually rather infruriated. The man had apparently ignored both the peaceful and violent reactions of the doll. If he had disliked the doll so much, he should have destroyed it. But not only did he keep him around to use, he kept the sentience. It was even possible he'd wanted the doll to become destructive. She looked up as she heard the bells jingle and a thought crossed her mind.
"Do you want to help around the shop? A lot of the items react to organic beings, it would be helpful to have a life that wouldn't react to that."
She'd chosen her words carefully. She had made a point of acknowledging that Eriol was alive. The most important part, however, is she was trying to give him a use. To allow him to feel like he had a purpose that only one such as he could do...

Eriol looked up at Himitsu hopefully. That sounded wonderful. He could make himself useful. And this old lady didn't look like she'd ignore him. But it didn't feel right doing this for no reason.
"...Let's make a deal," Eriol said. That seemed better. He liked deals. "I'll work for you, and you... you can fix me and my brother. I'm falling apart... so I won't be much help in this broken state anyways."
This way seemed best to Eriol. He wasn't going to ask her to fix the key either; if he couldn't do it, she probably couldn't either.

Himitsu smiled warmly, "That is perfectly acceptable and a very fair request... But I'll be honest, I can't guarantee perfection. Would you like to come with me to greet the young boy from before?"
She glanced towards the front. The boy was probably wondering what was taking so long. She hoped by specifying young there would be no confusion about which of the two "visitors" she spoke of.

Eriol nodded. He liked this woman.

After a while, Ion looked up from the book he had been reading, as he saw two people walk out of the back room. It looked like the wooden doll had calmed down a bit.

Himitsu gave a polite bow towards Ion, "I do apologize about earlier. This is..." she paused and blinked, "Oh my. I forgot to ask your name. I'm Motomeru Himitsu."
She was being polite as was standard in Japan. Always introduce yourself when asking the name of another. Eriol and his Creator had been Chinese, and they favored introductions via surname first. She chose to stick to that.

((OOC: Technically Eriol's creator was a European guy who went with Marco Polo to China and never came back. XD))
Eriol glanced at Himitsu before doing the same. "And I am Eriol."
Ion stood up. "I'm pleased to meet you both. My name is Fon Master Ion of the Order of Lorelei. Um... I'm pleased to meet you, Motomeru."
One of the fun things about being from a land where everyone's names were first name first was meeting someone who ordered their name last name first. Obviously, Ion had never met someone of chinese origin. Since Himitsu had travelled many worlds, though, she would probably recognise the significance of the Lorelei in his title.
((OOC: Lorelei was a siren in German myth. :3 She led sailors and navigators to their deaths by leading them into dangerous areas of the river she inhabited. Fun stuff.
Funnily enough, in Tales of the Abyss, Lorelei is very much male.))

Himitsu chuckled, "You can call me Himitsu. I apologize, I gave my surname first. Fon Master, hmm? Sounds rather interesting. Is there anything in particular you're looking for?"
Lorelei... she knew that term from somewhere. She gestured towards Eriol, "He's helping me around the shop."
