(OOC: Me and FF. YGO/Persona. Yadda yadda.)
"E-excuse me, I was wondering if you could tell me-"
"Look, kid. Go sit down. We'll get to you when we can. Adachi-san, just hurry up and get back here!"
The sixteen year old boy named Ryou Bakura turned away as the police officer hung up the phone. He felt his head swim and had to concentrate on an action as simple as lifting his head to his hand. He thought he was going to black out again. How long had he been out this time? He felt his head swim and took a few deep breaths as he gathered his thoughts. The last thing he remembered was.. oh, right. Yuugi in that underground area.
He'd blacked out again before they could tell him where he was. It hadn't been familiar, but so many things didn't lately. Lately being an odd word to use. How often had he been awake in the past year, anyhow? He closed his eyes. It was that spirit in the Millenium Ring, right? That's when his life had gone to hell. He had woken up in an alley, who knows how he got there. Probably that spirit. He looked down at his shirt. The Ring wasn't there. It was some kind of small miracle.
Bakura looked at his arm. It looked like he'd fallen down recently. Then again, it wasn't uncommon for him to wake up with injuries. During the Battle City Tournament, some foreigner his age named Namu had found him with a deep slice in his arm. He had been in this condition when he woke up in the alley, and honestly wasn't sure how he'd made it to the police station without falling down. He was really hungry, too. He felt his forehead and winced. He had a cut there, but it wasn't deep.
"-id? Hey, kid, you okay?"
"...huh?" Bakura looked up and saw a police officer was standing over him, "Oh... s-sorry."
The man looked concerned, "Hey, what happened to you? You okay?"
Bakura nodded, "I-I've had worse. Can you tell me where I'm at? I woke up in an alleyway..."
Oh, someone new to the Island, "You're at a place called Dimension Island. Do you know about the multiverse?"
"Multi...verse? No, I.. I..." Bakura's eyes rolled into the back of his head.
The police officer caught him as he fell forward, "Hey, kid? Kid? Hey, someone help me over here!"

Adachi hurried down to the police station. It figured that he'd screwed up on his paperwork after spending oh so many all-nighters at the station. After all, he was the only one who knew anything about Apathy Syndrome, and he was the most incompetant member on the force. He wasn't even sure WHY he was on the force in the first place; here owning guns wasn't illegal if you weren't a police officer. He guessed it was because he didn't know anything else when it came to jobs.
He pushed the door to the police station open just as the officer caught the whitehaired kid.
"...Hey, someone help me over here!" the officer yelled. Adachi ran over.
"What's going on?" Adachi said nervously. This didn't look good...

"Oh, Adachi! This kid stumbled in here half conscious. We didn't realize it was this bad when he came in. Dammit, the hospital is still down too. What are we supposed to do with him...?"
The "white haired kid" looked out rather cold. With the recent cases of Apathy Syndrome, it wasn't all that reassuring. That thought seemed to cross the cop's mind as well, and he straighted Bakura and looked him in the face. He shook his shoulders and by some miracle Bakura's eyes fluttered open.
"Wha-wha...?"
"Oh thank god. Hey kid, can you hear me?"
"...I'm hungry..." Bakura was still speaking rather meekly.

Adachi breathed a sigh of the relief as the white-haired kid spoke. Thank god, not another case of Apathy Syndrome. When the kid said he was hungry, Adachi looked to the other officer.
"I think there's still some food in the back!" Adachi said. He ran off to the back room, where the personal fridge of the force was. Takahashi-san wouldn't mind if he borrowed his lunch to feed some half starved new arrival, hopefully. After grabbing the bag full of sandwiches, Adachi ran back out to the entrance of the police station.
"Are sandwiches good?" Adachi asked.

While Adachi had been in the back room, the officer who had caught Bakura helped him steady himself. He probably needed a doctor. He was alert enough that he wouldn't need to be transferred to Bonsai Village, but he still wasn't in that great a shape. The brusing and few cuts seemed consistent with something falling on top of him.
Bakura looked up at Adachi's question, "A-anything's fine."
Really, the way Bakura spoke made Yuugi look borderline rude. It wasn't just the words themselves. They both seemed to favor the same level of formality. Bakura was a bit more formal, but not by much. The majority of the difference was how much of a kicked puppy Bakura was acting like.

Adachi handed Bakura the bag of sandwiches. This kid was way overly polite. He was more polite than that one improbably haired kid Dojima's nephew had been hanging out with.
Wait, two improbably haired kids. That's right, after he'd dropped the puzzle into the other world, the second one had shown up.
It was a damn good thing the police didn't know about the murders in his world. And he didn't intend on telling them that something like those murders from before had happened in his world. Of course, then the Shirogane kid had shown up again... Adachi hadn't seen him, but he had heard people at the station talking about him.
He looked back over at Bakura. "You want anything else?"

Bakura waited until Adachi had opened the bag before practically ripping into it. In the short time Adachi had his internal monologue Bakura had already wolfed down half a sandwich. He was halfway through the other half when Adachi asked his question. He obviously had to work at getting the food swallowed and for a second it seemed he was gonna choke. He took in a deep breath once he got it down and hesitated.
"Are you sure I'm not a bother?" It impled he did have more to ask.
"Nah, we're fine with it. Adachi, watch this kid for now. I've got stuff to do. I'll let the chief know you're busy."

Adachi looked up. "Uh, sure, okay. Thanks."
After the officer had left the room, Adachi looked back at the kid. He seemed half starved to death... and he was beaten up... had he been in some kind of abusive home or something before he came to the island? If his parents were on the island too, he could have possibly done something about it, but...
"Hey, what's your name, anyways?" Adachi asked.

Bakura took another swallow. One and half sandwiches now, "Oh, m-my name is Bakura Ryou."
The man was speaking Japanese, so he saw no reason to introduce himself with his surname last. He quickly polished off the second half of his second sandwich. He wasn't making eye contact as he continued to speak.
"The other officer said I was someplace called Dimension Island... I-I'm sorry but I don't have a passport..."
Well, there was always the embassy. But trying to explain that he had no idea how he got here? He was only grateful the people here spoke Japanese. He could speak English when forced to, but it was hard. Would he get in trouble for being here? He was a teenager, hopefully they'd just deport him.

Adachi smiled as the kid, who was apparently named "Bakura", worried about his passport.
"Haha, don't worry! No one who's here is here because they were supposed to be," Adachi explained. "Truth is, a lot of us got dropped off here by portals and stuff. Thankfully, no one here really minds. You always see a lot of strange people because of that, though."
Like that kid with the gravity-defying hair. He was a weirder one. "...and his puzzle thing, that thing gives me the creeps," Adachi said to himself. He suddenly flinched as he realized he'd said that out loud. "Uh... you didn't hear that, alright?"

Bakura was about to ask for something to drink when Adachi tripped over his own tongue. When the man expressed concern over saying it, Bakura decided not to ask. He shook his head as Adachi asked if he'd heard it, not having enough time to think of saying 'heard what?'
"Um... could I get something to drink..?"
Still, puzzle? It was possible, he supposed. Bakura still didn't really get the concept of more than one Japan, and Yuugi was rather famous. Some had scoffed at the idea of a person being famous over a card game... those people overlooked the impact something as amazing as Kaiba Corporation's "Solid Vision" system could have. But if he asked about Yuugi he'd be showing he'd heard him. So he kept quiet.

"Sure," Adachi said. He walked off to another room. He returned a few minutes later with a bottle of water for Bakura. He handed it to him.
"Here," he said. "After you get done eating, I'll go get you a phonebook. It might be a good idea for you to see if any of your friends are here too; it'll help with getting somewhere to stay."
That was typically what the force did with cases like this: hope that there was someone the person knew on the island.
"...Maybe I can get that paperwork done tonight... Hopefully I won't run into that spiky haired kid with the puzzle again..." Adachi mumbled to himself.

Bakura was drinking the water a bit fast when Adachi mentioned "spiky haired kid with the puzzle". He almost choked. Okay, he did choke. He went into a coughing fit with the hand holding the bottle against his chest and one finger raised. Hopefully Adachi would understand that meant he'd be okay. After a few moments and a few deep breaths Bakura spoke again.
"Did you say... um, that person you mentioned... would his name be Yuugi?"
Somehow it had gone completely over Bakura's head that Adachi was nervous about the kid.

Adachi just about had a heart attack when Bakura started choking. He about had another one when he asked his question.
"Yeah, I think so... he's got this Egyptian friend named Atem," Adachi said. Shit. From the sound of things, Bakura was Yuugi's friend. "Uh, I better shut up now before the boss yells at me again."

The name Atem meant nothing to the teenager named Ryou Bakura. Nor did the nationality. But it meant something to someone else. The combination of the name and Egyptian? Oh, it more than meant something to someone else.
Adachi had looked away as he said he had to shut up. The office was too busy to be paying attention to the bumbling rookie (even if he wasn't in reality, he was in the office and they rarely let him forget it) and the kid he was talking to.
It meant that no one saw the oversized pendant rise from underneath Bakura's shirt like it was rising out of water. The sturdy rope that it hung on came out from what seemed to be under his neck. They didn't see Bakura's expression change to something darker, harsher. His stance shift from meek and reserved to something one might expect a fighter to have.
"What did you just say?"
And then the way of speaking. It was extremely informal (read as downright rude). The pronoun he game to Adachi was drastically different than what "Bakura" had just been using. There were things that were odd to the man that was speaking, but there were more important matters at hand. Egyptian and Atem... Adachi would find the narrow gaze of "Bakura" staring at him harshly... not unlike the difference between Yuugi and Atem before Adachi had dropped the Puzzle in the tv world, really.
