(OOC: GODDAMMIT, I'M NOT TYPING THIS OUT AGAIN, IF YOU WANT IN, GO READ ONE OF OUR OTHER THREADS, THE DISCLAIMER'S IN THERE.
*uncapslocks*)
Takahashi let out a bit of smoke from the cigarette he was smoking. He was supposed to be patrolling the festival, but at the moment, he was taking a break near the entrance to the shrine. He never liked festivals. Never had since that stupid festival back in his home dimension. He was hoping no one died after this one; people always had back in Japan, but here, there weren't no festivals, so no one got killed by Oyashiro-sama or whatever the hell their stupid shrine god was called.
He stood up as he suddenly saw Adachi come into view, check to make sure no one was watching, and order some takoyaki from a stand.
"Adachi! Get back to work!" Takahashi ordered. Adachi jumped and nearly dropped the whole thing.
"Y-Yes sir, sorry sir! ...Can I finish this first?"
"No! Get back to work!" Takahashi growled. Adachi sighed, and took his takoyaki with him as he ran off to do patrol. Takahashi sighed and blew out another puff of smoke. He turned as he heard people coming up the stone steps. At the head of the group coming up the stairs was that same silver haired boy who had confronted the shrine's head and miko the day before.
"Well, nice to see you around. Last I saw you, you'd run off with your tail in between your legs," Takahashi said. Souji glared at Takahashi. This guy again.
"You know, smoking kills," Souji said. "Where's Izanami?"
Takahashi lowered the cigarette. "Couldn't say. You mean the goddess or that maiden you called her yesterday?"
"They're the same person," Souji said.
"She's inside, preparing for the main event. I wouldn't bother her. Might get cursed," Takahashi said.
"Thanks for not helping," Souji said. He walked forward until he was sure the group wasn't blocking the steps, and turned around once he was sure they were far enough away.
"Me, Minato, Teddie, Kanji, and Naoto are going to go find Izanami. We'll see you guys later on. Right now, just have fun without us, okay?" Souji said. He smiled. Naoto looked over at Bakura. She had heard something earlier when he bowed. He was obviously wearing something large and made of metal under his shirt. And the fact that he had brought it with him instead of leaving it at Adachi's apartment (she had found out he was staying there on the bus ride to the shrine) meant he either didn't feel safe leaving it at home, or he couldn't take it off for some reason.

Bakura had remained quiet on the bus. Anpu hadn't said anything to him since the lecture about the deck. Several times on the trip he had pulled at the cord around his neck or reached into his pocket to make sure the cards were there. It wasn't like he expected them to be stolen, it was just that both things made him nervous.
He'd been into all kinds of games when he was younger, but if he ever got out of this nightmare he'd find something else to get interested in. Science, research, something other than games. Or Egypt. He was never visiting that country and told himself he'd figure out a way to politely decline any "souveneirs" from there. He still had the Monster World figures and board. He'd sell those, some of the pieces he owned were rare enough they'd be worth good money.
As if wasn't enough, that... person, he wasn't sure about "his" gender, kept staring at him. He used boku, but he'd known girls who did before, so it wasn't out of the question. He looked closer whenever Bakura tugged at the rope around his neck. Well, it was possible Souji or someone had told him about it. Yuugi looked concerned too. It had ended with him spending most of the trip staring out the window, as far away from Atem as he could manage.
He'd been maintaining that distance the whole time. As the group went up the stairs the Shrine, he had hung near the front. Yuugi always stuck close to Atem, but seeing as how they were from the same world and didn't have things like killing the othe unwillingly to worry about, it was fine.
As the group reached the top of the steps, they were forced to stop. A man smoking a cigarette was addressing Souji. Bakura wasn't sure who he was, but the others did. Probably something that had been discussed as he was trying to supress Anpu.
Ryoji found himself disliking Takahashi as well. He wasn't the world's most observant person, but the "jokes" the man were making implied something. Even he could tell that. He hadn't batted an eye at the "same person" line. Either he thought Souji was nuts or that concept was somehow normal for him. Teddie didn't like him merely because Souji seemed annoyed by him. Atem found himself staring hard at the man, which earned a smirk. Yuugi thought Atem was reading too much into it.
The group followed Souji inward. Atem nodded as Souji made his announcement. Ryoji looked worried. He doubted for whatever reason if Souji was really being used by Izanagi that he'd have a choice. He closed his eyes as he felt another sharp pain, but managed to avoid wincing. They'd send him home if he showed signs of more headaches.
"Seta-kun, everyone, please be careful," Yuugi said.
"I'm interested in this goddess,"
Bakura's eyes widened, but his position meant only some of Souji's group could catch it. And Takahashi if he was anything like his eerily observant mentor. Bakura looked back towards Yuugi and Atem.
"....will you leave Yuugi-kun-tachi alone if I cooperate?"
Anpu caught the full implied meaning. He scowled, "Alright. It's easier if I have your cooperation here. Make an excuse to split off from the group as soon as you can. I don't like the way Naoto keeps looking at us, and the Pharaoh is nothing if not observant. I don't want to change in front of either of them."
"I'll do my best..." Bakura smiled at anyone that looked at him.

Souji and Naoto both glanced toward Bakura when Bakura's eyes went wide. Naoto was confused as to why, but Souji had an idea. Most likely, Anpu was trying to force dominance again. Bastard. He looked back toward Naoto, Kanji, Teddie, and Minato, and nodded to them before walking forward. Minato, Naoto, and Kanji followed after.
"So you're definitely sure it's Izanami here?" Kanji asked. Souji nodded.
"If I wasn't, I wouldn't be doing this. Besides, she made direct references to being the one who gave me and Adachi our personas," Souji said. He suddenly turned his head as he thought he saw Adachi out of the corner of his eye, but shook the thought away as he headed toward the honden. They couldn't go inside through the main doors, that would attract too much attention. Minato was already looking for a side door, which he found.
"Looks locked... that's kind of odd," Minato said.
"If Izanami is inside preparing for a ceremony, then it would make sense if it's locked," Naoto stated.
"...Maybe we should wait for her to get done with the ceremony, then," Souji said. He was feeling a bit apprehensive.
"Come on, you're not giving up now are you? You were so eager to get down here before," Minato said. Souji was about to stutter out something, but Kanji moved forward and pushed both Souji and Minato out of the way.
"Move. You think too much," Kanji said. He then, quite simply, kicked down the door. "Knock knock."

"Atem, Ryoji-kun, Bakura-kun, come on!"
Yuugi had moved forward and was waving towards the two taller teens. Atem glanced at Ryoji and then Bakura. The white haired teen was smiling, but it didnt seem to reach his eyes. It wasn't Anpu then, it would be more convincing if it was. Which meant something was weighing down on Bakura. He gave a reassuring smile. It was likely the thoughts of the Puzzle. He walked over to him.
"Yuugi will be upset if we don't go, Bakura."
Bakura hesitated. How was he supposed to get away from the group without Atem being suspicious. He glanced around, and realized Atem was watching him. He turned back and nodded, "Actually, I need... the bathroom, I need to use the bathroom."
"You could ask someone," Ryoji said. He had joined Atem.
Atem throw a hook, "I don't think we should go by ourselves. Souji-kun is worried about Izanami, and that is reason enough for me to feel worried. Ryoji, do you mind?"
"I'm sixteen, I can find a bathroom myself..." Bakura said.
"Actually, I think Atem-kun's right, Bakura-kun," Ryoji said, "Besides, you're as tense as Minato-kun was when I first got here. Some company would do you good."
"...alright. I'm sorry to be an inconvenience."
Ryoji sweatdropped, "You ever think of dropping some of those words? You sound like you're trying to set a record for being polite."
"Keep an eye out for him, okay Ryoji?"
Ryoji looked up. Was Atem worried about something? He smiled and gave a thumbs up. Atem grinned and headed towards Yuugi.
"Partner, we're gonna split up here."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"It'll be fine."
"Well, Bakura-kun? Should we ask someone?"
Bakura looked nervous. Ryoji could see that. Atem had asked he keep an eye on him, and Ryoji assumed it had to do with his other personality. It was a pretty severe case of multiple personality disorder from what he could tell. And the other personality considered Bakura his host. It was eerie. Ryoji was sure there was a trigger, but he didn't know it. Bakura finally gave a response via a nod. Ryoji smiled.
----------
The door gave an impressive thud as it hit the ground. The area inside was lit with a few candles. Naoto would be able to tell someone was recently in here from things like melted wax build up. There wasn't much. A highly polished round mirror with a white china border engraved in silver rested in a prominent position in the back. Grey tassles edged in black hung from either side. Obviously the goshintai to anyone who knew jack about Shinto practices. There was no one there now.
"Maybe it was locked because she wasn't here...?" Teddie suggested.
---------
Mana had been working with some men to get things set up in another area of the shrine. Asking herself is maybe she didn't need to hire some permanent help. They had knocked o the honden door nervously because they had questions. She had locked the door to help them. All of this being past tense, because she was now running through the trees mad as a grizzly.
She had felt the pulse of energy as someone broke into the honden. A quick focus had revealed some all to familiar presences. A Persona user she didn't know, but everyone else she did. Souji was of course among them, he was their ringleader. To the point the others of his little group were more than happy to sacrifice their lives for him.
She caught sight of them and let out a pissed yell that bordered on a screech, announcing her presence seconds before they could see her.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!?"

Naoto took a couple of steps inside of the honden once the door hit the ground. Someone had been there recently; those candles couldn't have been lit more than about thirty minutes ago. She had turned around to respond to Teddie when the yell came.
Souji wheeled around, and for some reason, looked incredibly nervous as he heard Izanami. Again, he didn't know why he was feeling this nervous.
"...Oh, there she is," he said somewhat calmly. Once the miko came into view, Minato realized what Souji had meant by her looking like just him. He hadn't been kidding. They had a slightly uncanny resemblance. The only thing that kept her from looking like a total genderbend of Souji were those creepy red eyes she had.
Souji took a slow step forward. "We've still got some questions for you. Once you answer them, we'll be going."
--------------
Elsewhere in the shrine grounds, Takahashi had found Adachi slacking off again, and was pulling him away for a very stern lecture on the concept of "doing your job." The direction Takahashi was pulling Adachi meant that he was pulling him toward the honden, since it was a fairly empty part of the grounds. No stands over there, so no one would bother going that way.
"...Now listen here, Adachi, I--" He suddenly stopped as he heard someone yelling near the honden, and a response from someone else. He recognized those voices. Takahashi dropped his cigarette on the ground and crushed it underfoot before proceeding closer to the honden, staying just out of sight.
"Stay quiet, Adachi. Something's up," Takahashi whispered. Adachi followed behind Takahashi a bit. As Takahashi got closer to the shrine, he stepped back a bit once he saw the open door to the honden. Standing near it were a few of those kids from before. Shit. What the hell were they doing?!

Bakura turned around. They'd gotten directions a bathroom but Ryoji was pretty sure they'd managed to get lost. He took a step back as he saw a Bakura's expression. He looked like he was going to cry.
"Bakura-kun...?"
"...I hope you'll forgive me," Bakura said, his voice shaking.
Ryoji looked at Bakura with a confused expression. What was Bakura talking about. He took a step back as he saw Bakura's stance shift, but he couldn't react much beyond that before he was unconscious. Anpu sighed as he turned around, and then scowled as Bakura spoke to him.
"You didn't have to hit him that hard! Make sure he's alive at least!"
Anpu glanced around, "He's alive. What do you take me for?"
"MAKE SURE!"
Bakura was startled by his own force, as he often was. But he didn't flinch. He hadn't wanted to help Anpu in the first place. Now people were being hurt. Because of conditions he agreed to. He'd never be able to forgive himself if Ryoji was seriously hurt. There had to have been a different method!c
Anpu sighed, "Will you shut up if I do so?"
"Just check, please!"
Anpu let out an extended breath. He looked back at Ryoji before walking over to the teenager and holding his hand in front of his mouth. The breathing was normal. Just to make sure his host got of his back, he also checked Ryoji's pulse. He knew Ryou was as aware of the sensations as he was.
"Are you happy?"
"Just do what you wanted to do here... Bakura felt ashamed.
"It was what I was trying to do to begin with," he stated. He quickly slipped between some trees.
----------
Mana was snarling. Turned out she had somewhat accented canines. She took a step forward, "Or I could alert the police. Even if you take your complete disregard for sanctity out of the picture, this is still breaking and entering. Adachi is here, you know that right? I could legally hand you over to him."
Her eyes flicked to the side. She was more than aware Adachi was watching. As not only a Persona user, but also one with an Izanagi based Persona that she had awakened, it would have been hard for her to miss him. She refocused on Souji.
"This is despicable even for you," she stated, making no attempts to hide the implication towards Souji. This wasn't a slip.
Teddie shot in front of Souji, "Stay away from Sensei!"

Souji took another step back. That was intentional this time, he knew that. She'd called him despicable, but somehow Souji knew she was referring to Izanagi instead.
"...I have nothing to do with you and Izanagi," Souji said out loud, but he was really just trying to convince himself. Kanji took up a more battle ready stance next to Teddie. Minato and Naoto both seemed to have identical expressions on their faces, and it was pretty much a constant glare at Izanami.
"We're well aware Adachi's here," Minato said. Naoto took a step forward.
"Since you obviously do not want us around here, I will try to make this quick," Naoto stated. "One. Why did you call Souji-sempai 'Izanagi' yesterday? Two. Why did you follow him here when he disappeared from our home dimension?" She would start off with two questions for now.
Adachi tensed next to Takahashi. Takahashi wasn't taking his eyes off of the scene before him, though.

The form of the teenager known as Ryoji Mochizuki flickered several times. In another world, it had done so before without him realizing. It had taken a confrontation after waking up from one of those incidents to truly break him. It. And yet, somewhere enough of Ryoji was aware to try and fight it. The flickers began seconds apart, then fewer, than fast enough that if the they had been colored an observer might have had an epileptic reaction. And then Ryoji no longer lay there.
It was, if nothing else, the first time for it to occur in broad daylight. And even if it couldn't surface normally, even if it had been harder to do so this time around, it had managed for now. It could feel the subconsciousness that was Ryoji fighting it. It wasn't time to awaken... it could be, but there was no need. It was still early. However, if things were pressed when the conscioussness known as Ryoji came to...
It shot forward. Truly, it didn't matter if "Ryoji" died. If he were not killed by a certain former host, nothing would change. But its actions were yet still guided by the subconscious of the so called human. Somewhere he wouldn't allow himself to admit, Ryoji knew what happened if he went out. If he were killed, he also knew. Memories he had locked away, yet again, were still present. The current threat was the spirit known as Anpu. Even if Ryoji refused, it was not above it. It was, after all, its name.
--------------------
Anpu felt a cold chill down his spine. He turned around. It was something like he was being watched, but this was a feeling he remembered. Once. His host, however, was panicking. He didn't know the feeling. A cold chill like something was hunting him, and something his host didn't know? Anpu had the feeling he needed to move quickly. He couldn't put his finger on why.
He slipped further towards where he had heard the screech moments earlier. That chill was getting more intense, and he found himself retracing his memories. He had felt it... he stopped short. He had felt it when Zorc had destroyed his body. When he had died.
"What is that...!?"
"I don't know for sure," Anpu had no idea why he was answering. Maybe to hear his own voice. To confirm he was still there, "But I don't like standing here. It's far too familiar."
Anpu wasn't being as careful as usual as he went forward. Bakura noticed it. Anpu was making a bit of noise. The way he was running... it reminded him of the chills going down his own spine, all but locking him up. He had the feeling had Anpu not been in control, he would have been frozen with fear. Anpu was making enough noise that those nearby would hear him. He didn't seem to care about staying hidden, and Bakura could feel an uncanny fear akin to his own. If he didn't know any better, he'd say Death was on their heels...
----------
Izanami opened her mouth, but stopped. She whirled around and narrowed her eyes. And when she did speak, her voice was ice. It wasn't a threat, or a promise. It was a fact.
"If you value your lives you will leave this place. As mortals you can't sense it until it is on top of you, and only a select few of you can accept it until that very moment, if even then. Adachi, Takahashi, heed this warning as well," she turned towards the main group. Her stare was as ice as her voice, "Death has found prey, and I can not guarantee it will stop at one."

And then it was Minato's turn to take a few steps back. His knees had started to shake, his eyes had gone wide, and his skin had turned pale at Izanami's words. Naoto turned to Minato, who seemed to be frozen where he was standing. And then Minato freaked.
"No, no, no! Not now, not here! It's too soon, why!?" Minato looked around at the others, and then screamed at Izanami, "Who's he after?! I-I might be able to stop him, just tell me where he is!"
Souji had started to panic by this point. He turned to Kanji and Naoto. "There's more than a slight possibility Ryoji's awakened. We have to find him, but whatever you do, don't kill him!"
Takahashi had taken a few steps back as Izanami told them to run. "What the hell... is this some kind of sick joke?" Takahashi mumbled.
"Takahashi-san?" Adachi asked.
"We're listening to her, and we're running away from here," Takahashi growled. "NOW!"
Adachi jumped, but he didn't look like he was moving fast enough, so Takahashi grabbed him by the arm and started getting as far away from the honden as he could.

An expression that Souji likely wasn't expecting was in Mana's eyes. Pity. She held her hand to her chest and closed her eyes. They were trying to fight Death. She knew Souji's world had almost come to an end about two years prior to their encounter, a result of Death. She hadn't kept tabs on it, but it had ended without result. She was a goddess of the underworld, of the Shinto Yomi. It was the only reason she even had a chance to help them. Suddenly her head shot up, her eyes wide.
"Two will die if it succeeds. One who should have gone long ago and one whose fated time will at this rate be altered. I can't get a fix, but they are both approaching this location quickly. It's foolish to try and fight the change of destiny and the occurance of the inevitable, but if you feel you must I can sense it from that direction," Mana pointed behind her and quickly stepped to the side. Her voice was not panicked, but immediate, "Any chance you might have is a quickly closing window! Go!"
----------
"...w-w-wha"
"....Death."
Anpu was backed against a tree. Here he was, staring down Death. He'd said the word to convince himself everything was really happening. The rising of adrenaline of his host was not helping him in the least. This wasn't the same. He'd felt Death before, why the hell could he see it? The manifestation in front of him drew its sword. Bakura was screaming something about death not being like this. Anpu wasn't in the mental state to argue. This was wrong, he just didn't know how.
Something unexpected happened next. The form of the apparation flickered. Anpu stopped and stared. It was some kind of morbid curiosity. He needed to run, not stare. He realized with nothing short of shock that the form that was vying for dominance was that of Ryoji. His host was shocked too. What the hell was going on? The flickering began to get slower, and it seemed Ryoji was winning. The group would probably find him about the time he fully materialized, and collapsed as if he'd been knocked out.
In either case, Anpu's pulse was trying for some world record. He stared at the unconcsious form of Ryoji along with his host.
"What the fuck just happened...?" Anpu said, almost breathlessly.

The moment Izanami moved out of the way, Minato broke off into a run. He had to find Ryoji. Izanami had said he was going after two people, one of which was a person who should be dead. Considering the group's current company, that could only be either Anpu or Atem. Which meant that the other was either Bakura or Yuugi.
Souji, Naoto, and Kanji started running after Minato. Minato ended up crashing through the trees and making it to where Anpu and Ryoji were after Ryoji fell unconscious once more. Minato looked over at Anpu for a moment before crouching down beside Ryoji and lightly shaking him.
"Hey! Ryoji! ...Come on... wake up..." Minato said. He was actually kind of afraid of what response he might get if Ryoji regained consciousness.
Souji, Naoto, and Kanji came out behind Minato. Souji looked down at Ryoji. Whatever had happened, Ryoji appeared human now. He looked over at Bakura, and realized it wasn't Bakura, it was Anpu.
"What happened?" Souji asked.

Teddie was clueless what Sensei had mean by "awakened". But Naoto and Kanji's reactions, coupled with Souji's flat voice and Minato's complete freakout, told him whatever he meant wasn't good. He glared at Izanami again as he ran past along with Kanji and Naoto, but she wasn't focusing on him. Her mind had already shifted to Minato. She had looked into the events of two years ago, and from what she could tell one person had been pivotal to stopping them. She glanced as the teenagers went into the bushes. If he was what she thought, this Island really did attract those tied to the ripples of fate.
--------------
Anpu nor the presence of Bakura were even aware of anyone approaching. Anpu was still breathing rapidly. It sounded like he was trying to hyperventilate himself. He jerked as Minato burst out of the trees and fell to his knees next to Ryoji. He was panicking, which meant to Anpu he at least had an idea what had happened.
Minato had brought Anpu down enough to earth he heard the others. He turned, trying to calm himself down the rest of the way as Souji, Naoto, Kanji, and Teddie came through. Souji addressed him, and it wasn't laced with venom. Concern, and Anpu realized some of it was for... well, his host.
"How the hell should I know," Anpu spat, pointing at Minato and Ryoji, "Why are you asking me? You obviously know way the more about this shit than I do."
Anpu wasn't a polite man by any means. But his voice was strained. He was always rude, but his words were down right vulgar. He muttered something under his breath after turning away from Souji. The silver haired teenager wouldn't have a chance of understanding him. Ancient Egyptian was a very dead language, after all, and differed from its modern counterpart.
There were enough similarities that one who knew a bit of modern Egyptian would know what it was... but that wasn't exactly a skill of anyone in the group. The one who did was always with the one who could have given a full translation. Considering Anpu's current mood, virgin ears wouldn't want a translation anyhow.
Ryoji twitched and let out a groan. Anpu quickly took a step to the side. He was running if he had to, and making sure he wasn't blocked off. This was Anpu. And he looked ready to piss himself. Yeah, something had definently gone down.

For once, Kanji didn't attack Anpu about his attitude. From what Souji had told them about Ryoji, Anpu was probably justified this time. But only this time. Any other time, Kanji wasn't dealing with that kind of shit when it came to Souji-sempai.
"Just tell me what the hell happened, Anpu!" Souji yelled.
Anpu? Naoto looked toward Anpu. I thought his name was Bakura... Something's strange with him. He's holding himself differently, and he's using a ruder tone.
Ryoji's groan reassured Minato a little bit. "Ryoji, are you alright?" Minato nervously asked. He looked over at Ryoji's forehead. When did he hit his head?

Teddie glared at Anpu as Souji skirted the edge of panic again. What had happened!? Anpu glanced towards Ryoji again and took a step back. He still had adrenaline racing through his veins and his pupils were still rather dialated. But he didn't take any more steps. He spoke keeping his eye on Ryoji.
"Either that kid is seriously fucked up, or he's got something not human possessing him. Hell, I wouldn't be expanding on this to most people, but I think you know already. That kid is either Death itself or Death is using him as a host," Anpu shuddered. He wasn't aware of it, "And for some fucking reason I can't pinpoint, it was about to attack us. Even if it thought it had reason to claim me, I doubt it was unaware Ryou would die too," Anpu scowled, "That the answer you wanted?"
Ryoji opened one eye, throwing his hand up over it due to the angle the light was streaming through the true. He winced and felt the lump on his forehead and his other eye opened. They cleared up quickly enough
"I think Bakura-kun's other personality has it out for me..." he muttered in a joking tone.

Souji glared at Anpu, and then when Ryoji spoke, he glared even harder. "I think you provoked this. It wouldn't have awakened without a reason; it's too soon." He was avoiding referencing Death directly now that Ryoji was awake. He didn't need to cause another headache, or cause something to awake once more.
Naoto had finally caught on to things. It wasn't a split personality issue like Ryoji had been thinking. They were two different people in one body. She had no idea how that was possible, but it was entirely possible that whatever Bakura was wearing under his shirt had something to do with it.
Minato was watching Anpu now. Ryoji had woken back up, but he didn't seem to be aware of whatever he had done when he went after Anpu and Bakura. That was a small blessing... but it still meant that Anpu had attacked Ryoji, from the looks of things.
