Shantae looked around the multiple masks that hung on the walls, “He’s got a point, there’s a lot of them here…”
Looking among the many masks, the Mask Maker thought to himself a moment. “Hmm Indeed there is… Let us see here…” The many masks lined the walls, from traditional Japanese Masks, to masks of various worlds and dimensions… “Ah-Hah!” He then plucked off the wall a mask that looked like that of a yellow fox with squinty eyes, and pointy ears. “This one here is the Keaton Mask, created in the honor of a clever spirit named Keaton… I believe this one came from a land called ‘Hy-something or other’.” Handing the mask to Clyde, he smiled a little. “Will this one suit you?”

"Keaton?" Clyde took the mask into hand and looked it over, giggling. "Teehee, it's so cute! Sure, I'll take this one!"

The Mask maker giggled at this. "Good good! That's very good!" Holding out his hand, he gave the Shy-guy an odd look. "Now, if you'd be so kind? I'll have that mask of yours fixed up before you know it!"
When Clyde reached up to his face to take off his mask, Shantae and the Mask Maker quickly averted their gazes. Shantae because she had seen that horrible sight before and wasn't too keen on seeing it again (Though she would never say this outloud for fear of hurting Clive's feelings). As for the Mask Maker... Well, it was very possible he's had a Shy-guy in his shop often with how he's handled this job thus far.

Clyde looked up and noticed them turn away. He was a little saddened at the reminder, but let it pass quickly as he switched masks. At least they understood.
"Okay, you can look now," he told them, facing the mirror and giggling at his new look. "Eeeheehee! So cute!"

Shantae chuckled at the little boy. "I think it suits you sort of." Leaning down to the boy's eye level, she grinned down at the mask. "Anyways, be sure you give the broken mask to the nice man now, little guy."
The Mask Maker walked up and took the mask as Clide gave it to him. "You know... how about this? I can fix this mask for you... But if you want that one you have now, it's always open for you to buy. You never know when a spare mask may come in handy."
Shantae cast a quick look at the man. "You're just trying to push more of a bill on us aren't you?"
The man only giggled. "Well, you never know, and besides, it appears the child really likes the mask." Shantae got a little angry that he neither confirmed nor denied that that was his intention, but she let it go after a second.

Clyde glanced back and forth between the two as they bickered. He had to admit, the shopkeeper was right; he really liked this mask and he'd love to keep it!
But... he also had no money.
"...." suddenly, he was afraid to perk up. He didn't want to take MORE of Shantae's money... it wasn't right...

Despite this however, Shantae appeared to notice the Shy-Guy's expression. Frowning slightly, she pulled out a few gold pieces and set it on the desk. "That's for fixing the mask."
The Mask Maker appeared to take in the gold pieces for a bit before looking to the half genie and the shy-guy... ... Suddenly, he snapped his fingers. "Hmmm... Tell you what, you two." That caught the two's attention quickly. "I've been running low on customers recently, for reasons I'm not completely sure." Shantae rolled her eyes, though the shopkeeper didn't notice. "Fixing this mask may take an hour or so. But until it gets done, why don't you go out on the town? With that mask on, you could serve as a good promotional stunt." He smiled a little. "If you do that, you can have the mask for free. How's that?"
....... Well... That was kind of him. "What's the catch?" Came Shantae with a raised eyebrow.
"No catch. I just want customers to come back, and letting the little one run around with one of my masks seems the best way to do it." He chuckled to himself. "Sides, I'm sure it'll be no trouble just to walk around town with that mask while I fix the other one."

"Oh!" Clyde understood, he understood well! People would ask where he got the cute mask, he'd tell them, and then the shop would get more customers! The shy-guy thought that was pretty smart!
"Okay! I can do that!" he nodded vigorously, giggling in delight.

The Mask Maker smiled at the little boys enthusiasm, before taking a closer look at the mask. "Anyways, you go enjoy yourselves now. I'll have this mask done soon enough."
Once that was said, Shantae and Clyde left the shop, before walking off. "Hey Clyde." The Shy-Guy looked up to the woman when he heard this. "You know, it just occured to me. I've told you about my home, and I haven't heard you mention your own. What's your home like?"

"Mine?" Clyde's bright chippiness dimmed a little. "Oh... it's just a big jungle where all the Shy Guys live..." He sighed and began to sway in rememberence. "There's a buncha huge treehouses in the deepest part, next to the stream that leads down to a pretty waterfall over a spring..."
The spring... he missed that place. "...that was where I went to get away from all the meanie Shy Guys who teased me."

Shantae popped into attention at that. Raising an eyebrow, she appeared to look confused; or concerned, whichever you think fits better.
“Teased you?” That made Shantae stop walking and crouch down to the Shy-Guy’s eye level. “Who would want to tease you? And why?”

Clyde slumped a little. "...I'm not like other Shy-Guys..." he admitted. "Most Shy-Guys play jokes, mess up towns, cause all kinds-a trouble... but I don't wanna do that. It's mean!" He sniffled. "...so they call me a yellow-bellied wimp a lot."

Listening intently, Shantae felt her emotions spike. “That’s… That’s horrible!” growling to herself, she calmed down after a moment, before looking to Clyde. “I’m no expert when it comes to stuff like what the Shy-Guys do, but listen to me Clyde. If all those guys do is cause trouble, you’re right in staying away from it.” She smiled a little, trying to comfort the little guy. “If there’s one thing I know, you should always do what you feel is right, and don’t do something that will get you in trouble just because your bullied into it.”

Slowly, Clyde nodded. "O...okay...I-I wish the other Shy Guys were as understanding as you..."

The girl smiled a little at that. "Who knows? Maybe they will be someday." Standing back up, she held out her hand for the Shy-guy's hand. She had noticed him do it before, and honestly? She didn't see anything wrong with it, if anything, it would keep her from losing him in a crowd.
"Shall we keep moving? Let's have a look around town. I hadn't got to do that myself since I had just got here myself."
