Someone was angry. That's how best one can bring up this story...
In the town of Lofty Ridge, it was not exactly common place for anything too entirely odd to happen here, the place was mostly empty, mostly hidden, barely anyone knew that this place even existed in the more populated portions of the island. Despite that however, the small town flourished and there was enough people to pretty much make it populated enough...
But even here, the weirdness of the world around it had finally sunk in.
Walking through the crowd, one could find the person that was mad, expressing it with loud yells that could be heard clean on the otherside of the island.
Heck, forget mad. This girl was POSITIVELY LIVID.
"DAMMIT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She continued to yell, not noticing the odd looks from the people around her. "Why in the HECK did I have to follow Risky to that stupid island of hers?!?!?" She growled furiously before finally stopping in front of a black smith, the old man inside giving the girl a weird look. "Why did I have to do it?!?!?!? GRAAAAAH!!!!! IT WAS A TRAP!!! IT WAS A TRAP AND WHY DID I HAVE TO DAMN FALL RIGHT INTO IT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" Roaring again, she kicked the metal post that was sitting next to her... ... ... Everything was quiet a moment...
"OH #$%#$!!!" It was during that time, that Shantae cursed under her breath, as she hopped on one foot, trying to massage the foot she had just used...
Meanwhile, much to the Black Smith's wide-eye disbelief, the Metal post cracked in a few hundred places... Before deforming into a formless mess of metal fragments. Shantae didn't appear to notice as she continued cursing under breath hopping on one foot.

Part 3 of Clyde's Journey
Biting his lip, the blacksmith considered his options: confront the livid girl about paying for the broken mess, or just fixing it himself.
For his own sake, he chose the latter. He reached out to try and slavage pieces from the mess, but paused when he heard a sharp squeal, slowly increasing in volume.
Not two seconds later, a little Shy Guy crash landed on that same pile of metal, mangling it further.

After a few minutes of cursing and hopping on one foot, she finally found a nearby bench and sat herself down, wincing as she took off her shoe and massaged it... She winced a little. "GREAT... I might have broke a few bones... Now that's just FAN-FRICKIN-TASTIC..."
With that in mind, she reached for her sash and pulled out what appeared to be a small vial. Popping the cork with ease, she gulped down half of it in about a few seconds; the stuff tasted horribly bitter...
She smiled to herself, wincing a little before she finally felt the pain ease away in her foot, fully healed. Bitter as the potion was, it had it's uses.
Still, it did NOTHING to calm her down any further. Her foot was healed but her temper remained. Thankfully she just took to muttering and grumbling to herself...
Well, at least she wasn't taking her anger out on anything.
..............................
It was around that time that the Shy Guy appeared causing Shantae to jump.
"What the-?"

"....nnnn....owww..." Shakily, Clyde climbed out of the wreck, his red little body cloak scuffed up and torn in a few places. He sniffled as he climbed out, falling flat on his face.
"W...w-hy did he hafta..." he sobbed, pathetically crawling across the ground. "Why'd he hafta go and blow us up like that...?"

"Hey... Are you alright?"
Clyde likely jumped at this. If he looked up, he would've beheld the gentle light blue irises of a young girl wearing Arabian clothes, and long purple hair pulled into a ponytail. This possibly surprised the blacksmith AGAIN, to see the girl that, only earlier, seemed mad enough to explode, only to see her be down-graded into the gentle visage that sat before the shy-guy now.
"You're not hurt are you?" Came the girl again, looking concerned.

Clyde sniffed. The Marx calamity was still upsetting him, but... this lady looked nice.
"I...I think so..." He shifted slightly, but froze when something didn't feel right. Afraid, he rubbed the mask on his face, finding a huge crack split down the middle jaggedly between his eyes; the mask was barely holding together.
At theis discover, new tears began to sprinkle from behind it. "Oh...n-no! No! My mask! My poor mask! Noo!!!"

[Hey NN1, do you know what's behind a Shy-Guy's mask? I know I don't. XDDDD Interesting funfact; In Mario Power Tennis, Luigi got to see what was behind a Shy-Guy's mask, his reaction? (Continued on the bottom)]
Shantae honestly didn't see why he was crying so much about one little mask. "Hey, hey, don't cry. No use crying over something you can't change." She reached a hand for the boy's face. "Sides, why would you need to wear this thing around anyways?" Before Clyde could stop her, she lifted the broken mask to take it off.
..................
Her eyes bugged out comically, her jaw going agape. Faster then Sonic the Hedgehog himself, she slapped the mask back onto the Shy-guy's face, and crawled a few feet away at almost warp speed.
"HOLY MARY MOTHER OF--!!!! WHAT THE HELL WAS-?!?!?!?!?!?"
[(Cont. From top.) Luigi's reaction was pretty much the same as Shantae's here. XDDD]

(hahah, yeah, I remember that XD)
"Eeeeee!!" Clyde clamped his little hands one the mask, drawing away. "D-don't look! Please don't look...!"
Over the course of their evolution, many Shy Guys forget the reason they wear masks in the first place. A few of them only learn why when their mask is lost, broken, or otherwise removed... the greatest shame for one Shy Guy to endure.
Learning this was so, so very painful for Clyde. He was turned away towards the wall, trembling.
"I...I'm....ugly...!"

Shantae was reasonably freaked out by what had been behind that mask, I mean who WOULDN'T be freaked out by it? That had to have been more disturbing then when she caught Mimic trying to woo a girl that was almost half his age... Heck SCREW THAT, that was more disturbing then even that!
However, Shantae was brought out of her panic when she saw poor Clyde start crying again. Looking at the boy, she instantly started to feel bad. How unfeeling of her to react that way towards him, especially since he was so sensitive about it...
After a moment to bring feeling back into her legs, which had trembling like jelly when she saw that odd sight, she got back on her feet, and walked over to the tiny shy-guy.
"Hey..."
She got down on her knees saying that. "Hey there... Little guy." She went through her head a moment to try and think up what to say. Finally she came up with, "I'm... I'm sorry about panicking back there, and removing your mask... I should've realized that you was wearing it for a good reason..." She sighed, looking a bit saddened. "I'm so so sorry."

Clyde was far past sniffling at this point, crying into his cracked mask. "Th-th-th...the elders always s-s-said to treat your mask w-w-w-w-well...c-c-cause without it..."
He burst into harder tears. "What am I gonna dooooo?? I-I-I'm just trying to go home, and now I CAN'T, cause if they found out I broke my mask, I'll be in so much trouble!!! WAAAHHHH!!!"

Shantae was quick to try and shush the little boy, so to prevent his crying. "Hey, shh, shh. Don't cry little guy, don't cry..." She took a moment to think of something, as the shy-guy continued crying. "Shh, it's okay, shh. Don't worry we can get someone to fix the mask! It's not damaged to badly, and it's salvageable."
She looked to the blacksmith. "This is salvageable right?"
The man nodded, "Uh... Yes... But if you want someone to repair the mask, your better off talking to the carpenter then me. He knows how to fix accessories and such better then I do."
Shantae smiled; that was good! "See? Did you hear that? We can have this mask fixed. It's no biggie!"

Slowly, very slowly, Clyde dragged his gaze up. He set his broken mask on his head as best he could, drawing his hands away and sniffling. "R...really? Good as new?"
As Clyde remembered his encounter with Marx, he wanted to be more careful. Was it okay to trust this lady? Then again, looking back, Marx did seem pretty nasty and rude even before he revealed himself to be evil; this girl was being much, much nicer.
It...was probably okay to trust her. He didn't have anyone else, now that the cool bandicoot had been blown away. Clyde hoped he was okay.
"O..okay..." he eventually replied, walking next to Shantae shyly.

Shantae smiled kindly down to the little guy as they walked. "Just so we get the technical stuff aside," She stopped a moment before bending down to the boy's eye level. "My name is Shantae [Pronounced; Shan-tay]. May I have your name?"

"...um..." he wringed the fabric of his cloak shyly. "I...I'm Clyde." He averted his gaze a little sadly. "I'm...trying to find my way back home."

A nod was the response Clyde got. "I see..." Having said that, she lifted back to full height and motioned for the Shy-Guy to follow her. "You and me both kid."
