It had been a few days since the foursome of Tree, Snowy, Todd, and Ark had arrived on the island after an experament gone wrong on Tree's part, but she'd already begun studying the island's layout. Supposedly, there was no ocean surrounding the island, instead it just dropped off into a void. Upon learning this, Tree immediatly began heading for the nearest edge to the ITS. She now stood looking over the edge, careful not to trip or let her glasses fall off, as she was yet to find another optometrist on the island.
"Remind me again why we're here, Tree?" Snowy said. "Yeah, foo, it be just a bottomless pit." Todd said. He was flopping around on the ground near Tree, and she kept having to grab him to keep him from going over the edge.
"Because, I think this island is the end of a black hole. No one knows what's at the end of those, because anyone who goes in there is never seen again. My personal theory is that black holes are gateways to another dimension, which I believe is this island." Tree said. She tossed a rock down just to see what happened, but it fell down too far for her to see where it went.
"Tree, you're thinking of wormholes." Snowy said in the same bored tone as before, and absent-mindedly chewed on some grass.
"Not really. Wormholes don't absorb in light, I think. Besides, I'm pretty sure that wormholes don't grab random objects from different dimensions and deposit them in one place." Tree said, and continued staring at something over the edge, now down on her belly so she could look at the thing that was over the edge without falling.
"What are you talking about--" Snowy asked, then looked over the edge and realized what she meant.
"That machine in the side of the island, I think it's fontech."
"That stuff from that game you're always playing, Tales of the Abyss?"
"That's the one."
"Sort of looks like that flying machine from the game."
"Yeah. I think it was pulled out of Auldrant during the Dawn Age and deposited here by a miniature black hole. And if you look closely, under it there's an apricorn Pokeball from the early days of Pokemon Training."
"How do you know all of this stuff, Tree?"
"Video games."
