Zero was actually surprised as Miku screamed, dropping Kaito's chin and turning towards the teal-haired Vocaloid. He glanced sideways as Kaito vainly tried to get out of the situation and let a smile tug at the corners of his lips as first Miku, and then Rin and Len ran off. He stepped next Kaito, who had taken a step towards Miku as he tried to protest.
"Isn't it? You just said you'd rather be honest with yourself, correct? Trying to patch up a non-existant friendship isn't really that honest, is it?"
The other interpertation of the scene had flown right over Zero's head. In his defense, he was just a computer program. He was looking at Kaito, waiting for the young man's response. His actions earlier had proven the worst he could do would be to punch him. With that thought he continued to keep his virus sealed so as to not spread if Kaito were to impact. The obstacles that were his friends had been removed, he was one step closer to turning the man into the homocidal maniac he had seen at the mall.

Miku backed up from Kaito, before running away as well. Kaito stepped forward to go after her, but not before Zero spoke, and he stopped in his tracks. The virus was getting through to him after all.
Everyone knew about the real Kaito now. He couldn't hide it. And in truth, he'd been lying to them the whole time. A friendship built on lies was no friendship at all. Zero was right. It was better to be honest with himself than to keep this up.
But what could he do to be honest with himself? The only way he could think of was to get a master... and that had lead to him nearly killing someone. But if that was the only way...
"Zero, what would you suggest I do, then?" Kaito asked. He hadn't used an honorific. It was like he considered Zero his only friend now.
-----------------------
Luka finally caught sight of Miku, who was crying again.
"Miku? What's wrong?" Luka asked. Miku came up and hugged Luka.
"Kaito, he... he..." Miku seemed unable to form words.
"Miku, what did Kaito do?" Luka asked. This didn't sound good at all.

Rin ran all the way back into the van and continued to cry, she just couldn't believe that Kaito was friends with that monster. Len soon reached the van and jumped on to see Rin still crying, he tried to comfort her the most he could.

The van was conspicuously missing the Vocaloid manager, Harmona Seishuku, or Seishuku-san as the Japanese Vocaloids tended to call her. The driver was there, sleeping, but he started awake at Rin's crying, but kept quiet. Harmona had given him a glare that could have exploded him had her programming been capable, and he figured she had things under control. -----
Harmona was indeed in quite the huff. She had talked with the doctor at the hospital, only to find Luka had wandered off. She had gone to the van to find Len looking rather dejected. He hadn't noticed her talk to the driver or her glare to turn a city into ash. She had spent about five minutes wandering around the town, but her glare had prevented anyone from talking to her.
This past day had been hell. She was going to have to pay the mall for the DDR machine, as they insisted it was Gakupo's fault. Then Gakupo had gotten deathly sick. It had come on so suddenly. He'd been unwilling to touch anyone or accept help into the van. Kaito looked like someone had killed his puppy and the silence had been terribly awkard. Luka had freaked when Gakupo passed out, and she had to yell at the woman to shut up. She'd been trying to call ahead to the hospital, but somehow doubted Luka realized that was why a stretcher had come out so quickly.
Gakupo seemed stable for now, but with her clients running off, Len's crushed look, and... she shook her head. The PR issues this were going to cause were showing potential to be too much for even her business sense to handle. Then she spotted Miku's tell-tale pigtails. She stormed up to the group, not even seeing Luka's concerned look, and yelled at her ambiguously gendered voice loud enough people outside the town probably heard. Rin and Len probably heard it, in any case.
"WHAT ARE YOU GOOFING OFF HERE FOR!? WHERE THE HELL IS KAITO, A-" she paused as Luka glared at her. She looked down at Miku's pose and concern flooded her eyes. It looked more like exhaustion, especially with one eye partially concealed by her bronze hair and the small scowl she had, "H-Hatsune-san? Are you okay? Hey, Kamui-san's going to be okay, I'm sure..."
The shift of voice tone and volume was rather uncharacteristic for the ironically named Vocaloid manager... -----
Zero raised an eyebrow at the lack of honorific. He never used them, but Kaito seemed Japanese enough that it was odd he wasn't. Apparently he'd done better than he realized with his ploy. He shrugged and waved his hand in a dismissive manner.
"What do you want to do? I've got my purpose, and I'll tell you right now I'll delete you if you get in my way, but there has to be something you want, right?"
His voice had softened a bit. The fact that Kaito hadn't used an honorific... it was time to switch to the carrot. His eyes showed he wanted Kaito's answer, and he did. He had a few suspicions, but he wanted to make sure before he continued towards his goals.

Luka didn't just give Harmona a glare. No, this was a glare of the ages. The glare of a thousand centuries, so to speak. On the way up, Luka had put her arm around Miku's shoulder so to help comfort her somewhat, so the two of them were rather close to each other at the moment.
At the mention of Kaito, and then Gakupo, Miku just started sobbing even worse.
"Ixnay on the Aito-kay," Luka warned Harmona.
--------------------
Kaito looked away.
"I... I don't know... my friends don't trust me anymore... Hell, I don't even trust myself. You're the only one left, and you're the one who put Gakupo-san in the hospital..." Kaito mumbled.

Rin cried more at the yell hearing the name 'Kaito', Len reacted by just hugging Rin trying to comfort her."Shh.... It's okay Rin please stop crying, it'll be alright." Len said in a comforting voice as Rin just grasped onto him and continued to cry, though slowing a bit.

Harmona covered her face with her free hand, her other hand gripping onto her briefcase rather tightly. If she couldn't bring up Kaito, something had happened. Which only left Len for the fangirls, which quite frankly disturbed her a bit. Oh yeah, contracts were going to have to be renegotiated. And at a loss. She sighed, "Okay, okay. I've arranged with for lodging. You two wanna head there?"
If Luka took the time to look past her hand, Harmona definently had a mix of emotions. Exasperated, more exhaustion than usual, worry, and concern. The last few weren't emotions she clearly showed very often. She seemed aware of this as she turned away, not facing the Vocaloids as she spoke back up, "I need to go check on Kagamine-tachi. Take your time."
She finished her half turn and walked off. So much for sleep tonight. She had hoped to get some, too. But all the chaos, which seemed to have started with Miku's concert... she sighed once she felt she was far away from Miku and Luka to be heard. ----------
Zero thought for a moment, and the truly amazing part is he was actually thinking, "You can come with me if you like," he glanced toward Kaito, "You don't have to worry about getting the virus. I can prevent that when I need to."
He honestly couldn't come up with a better response, but it worked as well as anything else. Zero had never had anything in the way of identity crises, maybe the confidence in his purpose would give Kaito some ideas.
Zero's smile could have been taken as reassurance, even with the slightly creepy bent to it. However, it was at a thought that crossed his mind. Perhaps Kaito would decide what he had done in the mall was what he wanted to do? Wouldn't hurt to have a bodyguard, even a psychotic one. Thehe psychotic "jump in front of a bullet" type was better, anyhow. It would be amusing to run into Mandark again with that.
(OOC: Dramatic irony. Can you SEE Uno vs Kaito? XDD)

Miku gave a nod, and hid her face behind a hankerchief she had just pulled out. Luka sighed.
"I'll explain later..." Luka said. "You make sure Rin-chan and Len-kun are alright." Once she did that, she led Miku on down the street to the hotel.
--------------------
Kaito's face seemed to brighten just a bit at this. "Really? You mean it?"

By the time Seishuku-san arrived Len had successfully calmed Rin down. Rin just stayed where she was looking at the sky, while Len stayed beside her holding her hand.

Harmona let out a sigh of relief at the scene with Rin and Len. At least some of her clients seemed calm. She gestured to the small hotel, "Megurine-t... er, Megurine-san and Hatsune-san are headed to the hotel. You two know where it is, right?" she glanced towards the hospital, "I need to check on Kamui-san's condition..."
She seemed more muted than the Harmona Len and Rin would have known, and it was odd that she had cut herself off earlier. She had started to say "Megurine-tachi", or "Luka's group", but with the unknown status on Kaito she had chosen to switch to referring to the two women individually. She seemed a bit impatient, but it was clear she was concerned about things. She also looked exhausted, far more than usual. It was clear she was stressed. -----
"I wouldn't have said so if I didn't," Zero replied, "If you've got anyplace on the island you wanna go, I've got access all over. Pretty complete network and all. You'd be amazed at the surveillance cameras set up. You'll need to stay in contact, though."
He extended his hand to emphasize what he meant. Once in the system, he could probably let Kaito wander a bit. But with some of the protective systems, it wouldn't be a good idea. Kaito's programming didn't seem as protected from anti-virus systems as his was. And computers tended to view anything that didn't belong as a virus.
At that thought, "And listen to me at all times. It can get pretty crazy in there."

Kaito nodded. "O...okay then. As it is, I just want some goddamn Haagen-Dazs, though... You know where to get to one through the network?"
He was taking all of this rather well. It was most likely the depression speaking.
----------------------
Luka and Miku ended up walking down to the hotel in silence, Miku always looking around. It seemed she was looking around for Kaito, though she couldn't see him anywhere. Luka felt worried for her friend as it was. This whole day had been just one thing after another, and even Luka was feeling exausted by everything. The hotel was what they needed at the moment.
It didn't take long to actually reach the hotel, and after a few minutes, Luka and Miku checked into their room. Luka was sitting on the end of the bed, examining the knife she'd taken from Kaito.

"Yes, okay Seishuku-san thanks. We'll go check in now." Len said as he nudged Rin to follow as the two jumped out of the van and toward the hotel.

Zero got a rather dark glint in his eyes, and the grin might have worried Kaito a bit, "You want revenge on that man from earlier?"
Oh yes, Zero knew of a Haagen-Dazs restaurant. As well as Kaito did. His grin widened a bit as he took a step forward, hand still extended. Kaito had given him the perfect place to start. ----------
Harmona waited until Len and Rin were gone before letting out another sigh. She walked into the hospital and introduced herself to the woman at the front desk. It took some goading , but she managed to get access to Gakupo's room. A nurse was just coming out with a barely touched tray of food as she walked in. Gakupo looked up and opened his mouth, but Harmona held out her hand.
"Don't strain your voice. Yes, I need to know what happened, but there are ways to do that without speaking," with a rather impressive flourish, she flipped open the laptop and set it on Gakupo's lap, pressing a few keys before stepping back, "From beginning to end. Everyone else is too upset to talk, but I need the full story if I'm going to sort this mess out. The machine'll speak for you."
Gakupo looked concerned for a moment but nodded, and typed into the machine. It read out in a voice that would sound mechanical for even the earliest Vocaloids and was reminscent of Hawkings' program, "It started shortly after I arrived on the island..."

Kaito looked down at Zero's hand. "Well, actually, I just wanted some ice cream..." Despite this, he still took the virus' hand. As it was, Kaito was still feeling nervous about the whole deal. There wasn't anywhere else he could turn now.
----------------------
Luka pocketed the knife, and turned to Miku, who had taken out her hairclips, and was currently brushing out her very, very long hair. Luka supposed it would be better not to disturb Miku at the moment, and lay down on the bed.

Len opened the door to their room. "Well, we better get settled down a bit." Len said with a small smile hoping to cheer Rin up a little. Rin still didn't respond and only shook her head as she sat on the bed. Len gave a small sigh before sitting next to Rin.
