Zero watched as several emotions flicked past Kaito's data. It was easier to read here, where in all technicality they were pure data. Unlike the Vocaloids, who had always seen themselves as "people", Zero remembered the time before his human form. He remembered the time before becoming sentient as well, although it was all rather hazy. The point was that he could read the subtle shifts of data that indicated emotion. The fear at the attack had indicated Kaito wanted to be able to fight.
"Right. We need to take a pit stop before we get to the ice cream place," he paused, realizing there might be an objection, "Don't worry, it won't take long."
In the almost blink of an eye that data can transfer, Zero was rematerializing inside the closed mall. But not in the ice cream shop, as had been his original plan. He'd materialized in a weapon store. Once the physical forms solidified, he let go of Kaito's hand. He walked over to a sealed knife case and shorted the electronic lock, gesturing inside as he opened the door.
"Take your pick, as many as you want. You prefer to fight with these, correct?"
It was entirely possible Kaito would balk at the idea of theft, but Zero had a plan for that. If the young man insisted on paying for the merchandise, he still had the card he'd used at the ice cream place. He made sure he was out of the way of the display, and leaned against the wall. He was rather interested on seeing what the Vocaloid picked.

Kaito had blinked, and suddenly he was inside a weapons store. He gaped at first at all of the guns, since they weren't so readily available where he came from. Once Zero had walked over to the knife case, though, he didn't show as much surprise. In fact, he didn't even protest much to the idea that he should be stealing from the store.
He looked over the various knives the store had for sale, pulling a few out of their cases to better examine them. There were mostly switchblades and pocket knives, which he ignored, instead heading over to the combat knife display. There was a bowie knife he particularly liked, so he pocketed that. Other than that, though, he didn't really see anything else.
"Is that all?" Kaito asked.

Zero grinned. And for once, it wasn't pure psychosis. The virus was actually experiencing an emotion he generally didn't show. He was genuinely pleased.
"Not quite," he said as he walked over to the shuttered gate of the store. He placed his hand against the lock on the inside and the loud noice of the gate being lifted filled the mall.
A night security guard looked up and cussed under his breath. How the hell had somebody gotten inside a store? He looked up and paled. The weapons store. He tried to rationalize it as someone from the business. After all, the locks there were all electronic, one would need to know the code to get out.
Zero ducked under the gate as it pulled halfway up and motioned to Kaito, "The ice cream store is this way," he glanced to the side, "But we're about to have company, it seems..."
Zero had seen the flashlight of the nightguard flick directions. This could be rather interesting, depending on how it played out.

Kaito turned his head at the appearance of the security guard, and nonchalantly kept walking toward the ice cream shop. "I just want some Haagen-Dazs. We should just keep going." He had a feeling that the security guard wasn't going to let him do this, but he came here for some ice cream, and he was going to get it.
As it was, he was fairly aware of how to get to the food court; he'd spent about an hour wandering around the mall after arriving on the island. It had been an enlightening experience to say the least.

Zero glanced at the guard, who had already made it to the still escalators. He nodded and turned to walk with Kaito, keeping enough of his peripheal vision on the guard as he began running up the steps, "Hey! You! Stop!"
Zero rolled his eyes and held his hand towards the closed ice cream shop, making sure that Kaito wasn't in his way. He pulsed with his virus programming, and if Kaito brushed against him would feel the pain Luka had felt when the virus had bumped into him earlier that day. He had dropped the seal on his powers.
The ice cream shop gate began to slide open, making the same loud noise as the weapon shop had. Zero turned to the guard. He was further than the ice cream place had been, "Go ahead if you like, I'll deal with him," Zero's lips curled up into a cruel smile as he waited for the guard to get closer. There really was no guarantee he could delete him, but he wanted to let Kaito do what he wanted. Zero wasn't completely useless in normal combat, either.

Kaito shrugged, and continued walking towards the ice cream shop. It seemed there was someone still there, since there was a rather confused reaction from someone on the other side of the grate.
"Huh? How the..."
The Vocaloid walked up to the counter of the ice cream place, and smirked, putting his elbow on the counter. "Oh, hello there. I didn't expect to see you still here... 'Bob Stevenson?'" Kaito said as he read the name off of the man's nametag. "So, give me a triple scooper pistachio flavor, with a scoop of blueberry."
The man backed away from Kaito, who stood straighter. "What? You think I'm not serious? I want some ice cream, and I broke into here in the middle of the freaking night to get some ice cream! Is that too much to ask? Huh? I don't need this crap on top of everything else!"

The security guard's hand was shaking. He could see the data rising off Zero, and the grin was nothing to scoff at, "Do you want to press this?" Zero stated.
"I-I-I... hands up! Just hands up!"
Zero chuckled, his insane dark nature coming out, "Where do they hire you people at? You're all the same..."
Suddenly Zero was rushing foward and had his hand around the security guards' throat. He reached into the man's holster and pulled out the gun, tossing it away. He let the virus pulse through his being. For a moment, a precious moment to the guard, it seemed whatever strange attack Zero was using was going to fail. Even Zero thought it was, but suddenly his squeezed had snapped shut as the man vanished. Clothes and all.
Zero narrowed his eyes and grinned. He was gaining power it seemed. The smirk was the stuff of nightmares, but he dropped his arm and glanced over towards Kaito. He wanted to see what the Vocaloid would do, having heard Kaito's thinly veiled threat. So he stayed quiet.

The red-shirted manager continued backing up, heading for something in the corner. It took a moment for Kaito to see what it was in the relative darkness, but once he did, he jumped over the counter and pulled out his shiny new knife. "No need to get violent, Mr. Stevenson. No need to grab the shotgun. I just want some ice cream."
The manager kept backing up until he finally got to the shotgun, and fired it at Kaito. In his panic, he ended up missing and only clipping off bits of Kaito's hair.
"...Fine then," Kaito said, and ran close to the manager before slicing open his jugular. A very precise cut as it was. The manager was dead within a couple moments.

Zero grimaced a bit at the mess the man was making on the floor. He had expected blood, but that had been a rather... well, the throat tended to squirt. He walked behind Kaito, making a point of stepping around the flowing liquid. It should be noted that he hadn't jumped at the gun shot.
He glanced at where the bullet had shot into the wall, "You're pretty good with that," was all he had to say. He was still feeling out the situation. It was extremely entertaining, probably the most fun he'd had since coming onto the island, but he knew it was possible Kaito might be regretting his action...

Kaito looked down at the man he had just killed, somewhat stunned at how easily he'd pulled that off. On the other hand... the man had pissed him off all day. Somewhere, deep in his horribly troubled mind, he believed that man deserved it.
And so, Kaito stepped over the dead man and to the ice cream freezers, taking out an ice cream scoop. "Ice cream?" He asked. "I've got every flavor in here."

Zero didn't have to eat. Let's point that out first. He would do so to blend into areas, but it wasn't really a thing he did for fun. The only time he could recall was at Internet Cafes, merely because people looked at you less oddly than if you just sat at a table and watched those working on the computers. And when your idea of fun was wiping hard drives or deleting important files off USB drives, blending in was a good thing. He wasn't even generally that fond of food.
But he didn't want to seem rude. Not for purposes of being polite, oh no. For purposes of keeping Kaito's trust, "Sure," he nodded, "I don't really know anything beyond the basic flavors though. Any suggestions?"
Zero looked in the air. They had about five minutes before they needed to leave. The man at the shop had hit the silent alarm. While Kaito's data wasn't the type that could pick up on that kind of thing, the signals being sent were running through Zero's mind. He'd wait a bit before saying anything. If he'd focused earlier he could have picked up on how many units they were sending, but as it was he only knew they were sending someone.

Kaito reached into the freezer, and pulled out a few different kinds. "I'll just give you chocolate then. Everyone loves chocolate."
He scooped a small scoop of chocolate into a cone for Zero, and handed it to the virus before continuing onto his own ice cream. He scooped four scoops (three pistachio, one blueberry, just because) onto a cone before heading on out of the ice cream shop. Halfway through one of the scoops, he turned to Zero.
"...Do you think the security cameras are on?" Kaito asked. If they were, they would need to find where the footage was being recorded and delete that footage.

Zero took the ice cream cone, but raised an eyebrow at Kaito's observation. They were, and he had known, but he'd stopped considering it important to cover his tracks in this world quite some time back. They were used to things his world would call "monsters" and "paranormal". He nodded, "I can scramble the systems if it's that important to you. However, there is this teenager on the island whose systems I don't think I should take you near..."
Zero's face visibly soured and he had a rather nasty glare on his face. It was't directed at Kaito, however, "At least we don't have to worry about him giving them to the police," he muttered before shifting posture, "We'll have to do it quickly and take a back entrance, however. That man hit a silent alarm."

Kaito's eyes went wide. "He hit an alarm?! I didn't even see him do that..." He groaned. "Yeah, let's hurry."
It was amazing how well he was taking all of this so well. Maybe it was because he probably thought this was all a dream?
Yes, that was most likely.

Zero nodded and walked over to the wall, eating some of his ice cream as he went. It was just ice cream as far as he was concerned. He placed his hand on the wall and seemed to be feeling around for something, although the wall seemed normal and flat. Finally he paused and sent a surge of viral information inwards.
One by one the security cameras in the place sparked, popped, and otherwise died. However, Zero had to throw out his hand again to brace himself, it was obvious that had taken effort. Okay, maybe going for the whole system at once hadn't been a good idea. It still shouldn't have drained him that much, though.
Something's changing... he thought to himself, narrowing his eyes.
