Jeff lead Ana to the food court at the mall. There were all sorts of restaurants there and he was starving. He wasn't sure where he wanted to go, and for some reason he'd rather go where Ana wanted to go anyway. So he turned to her and asked ", Um, is there anywhere in particular you'd like to eat?"

"Ummm... Maybe the Chinese place... I've always wanted to try Chinese food," Anna said. Then she grimaced. "Ummmm... I don't have any money," she said.

"Oh...right," he dug into his pocket to see if he had any. He pulled out a $50 bill, a bit surprised. "I can pay for it," he offered.

"It's n-nothing, hehe..." He approached the Chinese food counter. The employee luckily didn't find it odd that there were two kids between 10-12 years old there without parents, he'd seen his fair share of strange things. Jeff ordered what he wanted then turned to Ana ", Um, your turn..."

Jeff ate in silence for a few minutes. He wasn't sure what else to say, it was very awkward. He hoped that she would say something first because he wanted to talk.

Jeff looked up from his food and stared at her for a moment, thinking about it.
"Um...I'm not sure, I haven't seen my Mom for...I don't know how long. Never really knew what happened to her," Jeff answered ", And my Dad...he sent me to a boarding school and I never saw him for ten years. Other than that not really."
