Koda tilted his head in confusion; such a thought seemed so odd. "What do you mean?" he aked her. "The Northern Lights are where the Great Spirits live, and they're good. They watch over us and make all the changes in the world from up there."

Courage gulped. One of the main things he DIDN'T like. "Um... vampires are... ummmm..." he shivered; better to not offend a real-life vampire standing right next to them...

Remilia sighed. She didn't want to have to explain her heritage to an animal, but why not? "Vampires are simply blood drinkers. We drink the blood of humans," she said. "Though some vampires are stupid enough to kill every human they drink from. There are some limits one has to follow."

Koda thought for a moment, seeming to remember something. "Hmm... sometimes, birds tell me about animals called 'vampire bats' they meet while they're down south for the winter," he said. "They say they drink blood from generally all mammals, but they never sounded like anything that could kill someone..."
((I used the power of Wikipedia to look up the dietary habits and habitats of vampire bats for an accurate response from Koda. True, he doesn't exactly have the right blood-drinker on the mind, but mythological vampires don't exactly exist in his world. XP))

"No, no, humanoid vampires drink it from humans, not from other animals... usually." Remilia grimaced, remembering the day Patchouli lent a certain book from another library. It resulted in Remilia having to pay the library quite a bit for destroying its whole collection of the series in a pride-induced rage. "But I have a light appetite, so I don't kill my 'victims' as they call themselves."

By now, Koda finally took notice of how uncomfortable of a conversation this was becoming for everyone, and he started to realize they wouldn't be able to help him find his way back.
After a long, awkward silence, Koda finally blurted out to break said silence, "So who else here likes salmon?"
