Shigemi let out a sigh, and it seemed to be tinged with regret, although that part was greatly overwhelmed by annoyance. He straigthened up and spun the knife around again, cocking his eye at Kuwabara as he stood there. The teenager was dead, there was no other way to slice it. He cracked his knuckles and then... closed his knife and tossed it to the side, letting it land across from Kuwabara's coat.
"Well, Kazuma, you're an idiot. But you can fight, and it's a pity I've got to kill you. Tell you what, I'll give you a little something to remember me by. For however long your soul lasts, don't think you can go on to the afterlife after losing to a shinigami," Shigemi said, a smile creeping into his features. He seemed to be speaking a bit more literally with that last statement...
...and then he begin to visibly waste away. If Kuwabara tried to dodge, he'd find his path blocked before he could blink. With Kuwabara's spirit sense nerfed, he'd never be able to see him move. His skin took on the palor of death as his eyes sunk into his head. They turne straight right and his eyelids appeared to rot away. His hair began to raise and move with the energy radiating out of him that Kuwabara would have no sense of, moving in a phantom wind like a ghost.
The clothes looked like they were doing little more than hanging off his body as he took on the form of someone so malnourished they might have well been the corpse of a person just passed from starvation. The tips of his finger bones extended and sliced their way out of the tips of the flesh on his fingers, cutting the way a dead body might with its lack of blood.
The whole transformation as it were only took about two seconds, and then Shigemi was smiling. It looked like a smiling skeleton with dead flesh spread tight over his features. He held out his arms and one could see the bones shifting from underneath the starvation level skininess of his flesh. And he'd still dodge with inhuman and untracable speed of Kuwabara tried to reach him. Large scythe like shapes of bone rippled out from his outer arms, giving Shigemi's arms something reminisicent of kamaitachi/sickle weasels. His voice as he spoke was more hollow, more dark, and somehow more authoritive, but it was still clearly Shigemi.
"And you thought the name was for sho-"
"What the fuck are you doing here?!"
Shigemi tensed up and jerked his head to the side. Kuwabara still probably wouldn't be able to hit him, Shigemi's speed would allow him to dodge an attempt at a surprise attack at the last moment.
Standing at the turn of the alley was a tall and lithe teenager with ashen skin. He was dressed in some torn and tattered jeans, a grease stained white shirt, and an open leather jacket with holes, a missing zipper, and a hood pulled up over his head. He had on cracked sunglasses that completely concealed his eyes, but the way his eyebrows were angled made it clear he was glaring. He had an arm on the turn of the alley and was snarling, revealing accented canines. Shigemi seemed just as surprised to see him as the reverse, and the anger that flashed across his gaunt features matched the new arrival's to a T.
"When the hell did they let you off your leash, Shinobu?!"

Kuwabara didn't stop his rush as Shigemi began to change. He was Kazuma Kuwabara, and he didn't back down for a fight. Even when it looked like he was going to die. Even if it was obvious that he was going to die. Wasn't like it would be the first time. Mind you, in the Dark Tournament, he was faking it. When Shigemi said his last bit about Kuwabara not being able to go the afterlife after losing to a shinigami, the lad could do nothing but smile. No matter what happened, no matter how horrible he died or how atrocious his after life was, he would die a man. That was all that mattered.
Shigemi didn't have to block Kuwabara's path, because he didn't attempt to dodge. He didn't plan on it. He ran into conflict headlong, and he didn't look back, because he was Kazuma Kuwabara. It just wasn't a thing he did, even in his death. At Shigemi's began line about the name being for show, Kuwabara considered pointing out that he hadn't, actually. At least not after their fight started. But he was prevented for doing so for the same reason Shigemi was cut short. Someone else showed up.
It was enough to stop Kuwabara. He didn't de-tense, but he dropped his aggressive pose, looking up. There was another lad standing at the turn of the alley, with ashen skin, dressed as if he'd just grabbed whatever he could to dress himself. Furthermore, the two seemed to have prior knowledge of each other, enough for Shigemi completely forget what he was about to do.
Under normal circumstances, Kuwabara would be annoyed at being ignored. Quite livid, in fact. But he himself was interested in who exactly this new arrival was. Thus, though he did give a minor frown, he looked between the two, curious.

This was just a fanfuckingtastic follow up to a absolutely smashing previous night. His attempt at escape had been cut off with what should have probably ended with his death, but he'd turned into a - he paused as Shigemi asked who let him off his leash, and his glare turned into a bit of a smirk. Kuwabara would probably recognize that sort of expression. It was hard to be sure without seeing the eyes, but Yuusuke wasn't that unknown for it. In regards to Kuwabara, actually. And it was aimed at Shigemi.
"Oh, they didn't tell you?" The new arrival said. He took his hand off the wall and stepped to the side, positioning himself as far from any wall as possible. He crossed his arms and tilted his head, allowing the damaged glasses to slip down his nose a bit. The distance was really too much for Kuwabara to get a good look at his eyes, though, especially with the angle and the way his hair was hanging down, "Well if you're not in the know..."
Shigemi made a tch noise. He glanced at Kuwabara for a moment, letting the human teenager know he knew he was still there. He gave a shrug and smirked, "You don't know shit, Shinobu."
"More interestingly..." Shigemi smirked, "No one's here to save you this time. Don't forget, I know how to kill you. And unlike you, I've graduated."
The one Shigemi called Shinobu frowned, "A clown college graduate is still a clown. What the hell is going on here, anyways? And you still haven't told me how the fuck you got here."
"Who knows, maybe I'm a Key?" Shigemi shrugged with a widened smirk. He nodded his head sideways towards Kuwabara, "And what the hell do you think's going on here. He's a human."
Shigemi lifted up his thumb and sliced it across his throat to punctuate his point.

Kuwabara's eyes scanned the scene. From Shigemi, to the one known as Shinobu, to his fallen jacket, to Shigemi's fallen knife. He took in all of the events the entire event around him... and he chuckled. A soft, knowing chuckle. A tired chuckle, the chuckle of an old miser. This Shinobu individual reminded him so much of Yuusuke. And so he remembered. He remembered why it all started, why he was here. Because Yuusuke Urameshi was missing again. Because he refused to sit around and watch his rival's mother cry herself to sleep in front of a photo of him again. Because he refused to watch Keiko go through another ordeal like Yuusuke's first revival. Because in the end, they needed him. All of them, even Kuwabara. And he refused to just stand around while Yuusuke was out there picking fights with anyone and everyone.
At Shigemi's motion towards him, Kuwabara turned and crouched down to pick up his jacket. By the time Shigemi dragged his finger across his throat, Kuwabara had his jacket slung over his left shoulder, holding it firmly in his fist. His right hand was in his right pocket, thumb out. He looked down, face being overtaken in shadow. When he looked up again, it was as if the very air around him swirled in a righteous fury. A swift breeze picked up, blowing Kuwabara's jacket behind him in a beautiful display. He smirked. That one facial expression was enough.
"Sorry, but that doesn't work for me. Kuwabara Kazuma isn't going to be shackled down and killed by some low rate banchou." Kuwabara began, expression unchanging. "No. You can kill me. You can break my body into pieces. But I won't let you take away my freedom. So if you think I'm just going to stand here and let you do as you please, you're wrong." At Kuwabara's statement, the wind stopped, the alley falling once more into silence. Until he loosened his grip on his jacket, stance loosening ever so slightly.
"So take this. My fighting spirit!" With that, Kuwabara tossed his jacket to the side once more, another swift wind carrying it to a stop upon a small light. The energy Kuwabara radiated wasn't reiki, wasn't youki. No. It was energy.

Shinobu laughed in response to Shigemi's comment about being a "Key".
"Oh come off it, there's not fucking way that wouldn't have been all over the school in less than a day. Who the hell do you think you're kidding?" Shinobu said between gasps for air. He didn't even seem to be acknowledging Kuwabara's presence.
The annoyance was rolling off Shigemi in waves. He narrowed his eyes at the newest arrival for a moment before jerking his head towards Kuwabara as he wrapped up his little speech, "Then how about you take your pathetic little life and scram? You aren't worth my time."
"Still can't keep the bravado up when someone points out you're a waste of space, eh Shigemi?" Shinobu smirked.

Under normal circumstances, Kuwabara would have been livid. He was being dismissed like a simple pet, an unruly one at that. But he just couldn't be angry right now. The other young man reminded him so much of Yuusuke, he just... he had far more important things to attend to than a petty grudge brought on by an overconfident banchou. He had a rival... no. He had a friend to save. So he simply grabbed his coat as it floated down to him, pulling it onto his shoulders and allowing it to stay there.
He began to walk out of the alley, footsteps echoing as he went. He shoved his hands into his pockets, smile never leaving his face. As he reached the end of the alley, though, he stopped, talking back at Shigemi without turning. He didn't expect the Neo Death God to listen, but he honestly didn't care. This was for him.
"Shigemi. I'm enough of a man to admit that if it wasn't for our new arrival, I'd be dead by now. I understand that. But there's someone I'm here to find. Urameshi Yuuuske. Sarayashiki's number one. If you want a challenge, he's your guy. But if you don't want to die... then I'd suggest you stay the hell away." Kuwabara called back, tone even. Then he was gone.

"Just get the hell out of here!" Shigemi barked at Kuwabara. It still remained somewhat creepy, given the older teenager was still in his demonic form. He spun back towards Shinobu as the teenager shook his head, chuckling. And then Shigemi's flesh tightening grin was back. He pointed towards Shinobu, "We both know I'm the better fighter, Shinobu. I've defeated you once, and nothing's to stop me from making it permanent this time, now is there?"
Shinobu gave him a puzzled look, "That bullshit again? We both know if you'd been able to kill me you would have decades ago! That's how the program worked!"
"You seriously have no fucking clue, do you?! If you're too stupid to figure it out, I'm not enlightening you!" Shigemi snarled. He lifted up both of his arms so that his wrists were crossed. He smirked, "Well if you're so confident, let's go. I will see you dead this time."
Shinobu was already rolling his eyes by the time Shigemi was lifting his arms. As the corpse-like teenager threw his hands down and sent two waves of sickle shaped energy flying at Shinobu, the roughly dressed teenager casually stepped to the side as simply as if he were taking a stroll. He shrugged as the blades of energy sliced into the wall behind him, leaving thin slices in the bricks with enough cutting force that they didn't even flake.
----------
"Sheesh, could you be any slower?! You won the Dark Tournament for Enma-sama's sake! Move!!" the spirit guide shouted from her perch above the top of one of the many city buildings. She'd been flying in a straight line, circling back only to pester Yuusuke and his ground-based need to wind through the alleys.
Suzu was above the buildings as well, leaping from building to building. As the yet to introduce herself spirit guide yelled at Yuusuke again, he leaned over and frowned at him, "You still expect me to believe Kurama didn't destroy you?!"
The spirit guide lifted her head and blinked at him before looking startled, "Now is completely not the time! Move move!"

Yuusuke glared up at the spirit guide as she rushed him. Well, that was just fanTAStic. If anyone could make him miss Botan, it was this... this... this whoever she was! Also, Suzu wasn't making things any easier on Yuusuke's nerves. Today seemed to exist purely to upset the young rekai tantei, honestly. He was about to yell up at the two when he rammed into someone. He went rolling to the side, the individual landing in a heap next to him. He quickly pushed himself back to his feet and pulled the other individual by the collar, preparing a rant. That is, until he got a good look at the fiery-headed lad he'd just bumped into. He looked very familiar...
"Kuwabara?" Yuusuke asked, surprised.
"Urameshi?" Kuwabara asked in synchronization with Yuusuke's question. Before the two could hug it ou--I MEAN PUNCH EACH OTHER IN THE FACE REPEATEDLY, Yuusuke jerked his head up. He looked up to Suzu and the unidentified spirit guide for a moment, before nodding. He released Kuwabara's collar, breaking into a sprint.
"No time to talk, Kuwabara!" Yuusuke called back, heading in the direction he felt was the source of the youki he'd sensed.
Kuwabara took a moment to pull himself back together. Yuusuke had knocked him down pretty hard there. Once he did, however, he frowned, crossing his arms. This couldn't be a coincidence. Yuusuke had to be going after Shigemi. Kuwabara seemed to battle something out with himself for a moment, before following the headstrong teen at a slowed pace.

The blond spirit guide had zipped off and was maybe half a building from the scene of the fight when she realized Yuusuke wasn't following her any more. She let out an annoyed moan and spun around, wobbling in mid-air before zipping back in time to see Yuusuke and another teenager glaring in surprise at each other. She tilted her head. He really seemed like he should be familiar but... she blinked and jerked her head. Oh great, another youki flare. The reiki glow from the blade of her scythe had shifted from dull pulses to a strong buzz... although oddly enough to those that could sense it, it appeared to be weakening in sporadic flashes?
Suzu had continued forward as soon as Yuusuke had, and had honestly picked up the youki before him. Say what you wanted about Yuusuke's abilities, no matter what Suzu's strength he would have likely picked it up first. You didn't survive in the Makai without your senses constantly being on guard for such a thing. It looked to him like he hadn't been wrong about the human's idiocy.
----------
Yuusuke would have to move very fast to not get barrelled over by a fricken flying body. Whether he managed to avoid it or not, the projectile that was Shinobu would smash into the wall - the only difference would be whether or not Yuusuke was hit. What Yuusuke would probably not, in either case, was that what had smacked into him was most definitely a yokai, although the damn guy really did look straight out of some western picture book.
...because Shinobu had at some point taken his true form. His skin was dark grey, like ash, and he had rather pointed ears. His long draconic wings had folded forward and a bit around at the impact. The only piece of his clothing now in one piece were the pants (tight and torn) and the shades, which were on the ground. His hair was long and crimson red, respectively darker than Kurama's in human form. It was more the color of drying blood than a red rose.
Across the alley was Shigemi, still in his human form. If Yuusuke wasn't too busy being in pain or trying to process what the hell was going on, he'd notice that... there was something off about Shigemi. Almost as if a spirit or something was tied to him. A ghost? The fight had taken out a good portion of the alley, chunks were everywhere and not even the trash bin was in good shape. Shinobu leapt up, a snarl revealing canines, but he jerked over to look at Yuusuke whether he was on the ground or not. He blinked at the new arrival, and Yuusuke would be treated to the fact that Shinobu's eyes were straight black in this form as well as more pointed than any human would have naturally. Shigemi, on the other hand, jerked his head straight up to see the spirit guide above him. He snarled at her.
"He's mine, so why don't you get your pretty little ass the hell out of here before I take both of you down?!"

Yuusuke's headstrong nature was the only thing that kept him from getting barreled over here. He'd gone into the alley completely ready for a fight. So when a body came in his direction, he instinctively rolled to the side, quickly getting back to his feet and balling his hands into fists. It was only the oddity of the situation that kept him from leaping at the individual that had come barreling towards him. The other individual... something was off about him. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. But, whatever it was, it unsettled him. So instead, Yuusuke placed his hands in his pockets for a moment, surveying the scene. Shinobu's appearance, though odd, currently took a backseat in his mind. He was brought from his musings when the other individual yelled up at the spirit guide. Definitely who they were here for, then.
"Sorry, but that's not going to happen. I don't know what the hell's going on here, and I honestly couldn't care less." Yuusuke punched his right hand with his left then, popping his knuckles. No reiki flare yet. Best not to waste it on a random cockfight. He was here for business.
"I mean, my ass isn't as pretty, but it looks like it'll have to do." Yuusuke called out, smirking. A confident smirk. One not unlike a few looks Shigemi must have gotten from Shinobu.

Suzu dropped down from the top of one of the buildings as soon as Yuusuke made his threat. His sword was hooked through the cloth wrapped around his waist, having it serve as a makeshift sheath. He gave a dull look between the two fighting yokai, obviously assessing them with a glance each. He had a slight frown and a hint of confusion on his face. Something about them felt a touch off, and something about them felt... shielded? Almost as if there was far more strength just under the surface. He didn't like the lack of knowing if they could bring it up on command or not. He rested one hand on the hilt of his sword and addressed Shigemi.
"I could care less about some inane territorial dispute, but you've gotten yourself on the wrong side of this idiot," he jerked a thumb towards Yuusuke, "So why don't you just give that spirit guide whatever the hell she's after and we can leave you two to your stupid feud?"
"He is not yours! I know the politics of this world as well as any shinigami should and they do not allow us to drain a soul out of existance for some stupid petty little fight! If you don't give him back to me right now I'm gonna sic the cops on you!!"
Shinobu steadied himself on his feet, ready to open his mouth to object to the newcomers, when he narrowed his eyes and looked towards Yuusuke with a tight frown, "...cops?"
Kuwabara would probably still be catching up.
