Today in Void City Plaza, someone was putting on a bit of a show. Standing on the sidewalk was a man with rabbit ears riding on a unicycle, juggling. He seemed to be struggling to keep even the three balls, a beer bottle, and one pet cat in the air, and he was having an even harder time keeping balance on the unicycle. Right next to him was a large bowler hat for people to throw money into.
Warren gave a small grin as more and more people started gathering near him. He still hadn't gathered much in the way of cash, but he supposed if he kept at it for a while, he might get something.
Of course, since his luck always seemed to go bad at the worst possible moment, it did. The shopkeeper's cat had finally had enough of this and let out a yowl before twisting in a way that when her turn came around again, she dug her claws into Warren's arm, causing him to flail wildly, drop everything, and fall off the unicycle. Slowly, the crowd dissipated, leaving Warren by himself on the sidewalk.
After a moment, he sighed and sat up against the wall to count his money. Barely twenty dollars... he'd done better than he'd thought, but it still wasn't good enough, and he'd still come out of it with more than a few bruises.
He groaned, and his stomach groaned in response. He was so hungry...

Sain watched the strange performance from afar. Juggling five things while riding a unicycle was well beyond his ken. He wasn't even sure he could juggle two things while atop his horse. He was enthralled by the performance, and was reaching for his coin satchel when the cat decided it had had enough of the absurdity and caused him to falter.
Somehow, the performer's failure struck a chord within him, reminding him of all the women that had shot him down over the years. But he knew never to give up at his ways. And he felt the performer could do with a similar message.
And perhaps a donation or two. He checked his satchel. He had borrowed some gold to go on an errand to the market, and he had about 250 gold coins in it. He had no idea what this strange world's exchange rate, but he figured 20 gold coins would be a good donation.
He walked to the performer and sat against the wall beside him, to talk. The rabbit ears had not put him off at all, as he was well aware of the diversity people came in. He'd met a beautiful dragon girl not terribly long ago, so his tolerance was mighty high.
"That was not a bad effort," he said in as kindhearted a tone as he could. "Could not have done any better myself. In fact, I might've hurt someone else instead!" He tried for a joke.

Warren gave an eep as Sain sat down next to him, scooting a little away from the knight. He looked a little nervous as Sain spoke, and Sain's attempt at a joke just made him look more depressed.
From his sitting position, Warren was gathering up the balls that hadn't rolled into the street and the unicycle. He really wished he had a real job, instead of having to perform on the streets for money.
At that moment, he caught sight of a glint of gold in the hat. Confused, he reached forward and picked it up, looking inside. There had to be at least twenty pieces of gold in there that weren't there before. Warren looked shocked for a moment before looking at Sain with a questioning look.

"I rather liked your performance," explained Sain, realizing a calming tone was needed. The nonhuman performer was clearly timid. He'd dealt with timid people before, and all it really took was patience and understanding.
Sain made sure to keep his sword and its sheath on the other side of his body from Warren, in case he wouldn't take too kindly to a weapon.
"Those are for you. It's not much," he said, "but it's something that I can give."

Warren looked extremely pleased as Sain spoke. He hugged his money full hat for a moment before putting it down on the ground and beginning to count up the money. Twenty pieces of gold, plus the twenty dollars, give or take, he'd made earlier... this was more than enough to pay for his food and lodgings. He placed the hat back in his jacket.
He looked over at Sain, and suddenly hugged the man tightly before drawing back and shaking his hand several times. Right now, Warren looked like the happiest person on earth.
He stood up and gave a few ecstatic hops before looking around the Plaza. He'd have to find something cheap to eat, something simple... maybe he could buy some carrots at the market, or something. Make a carrot stew...

Sain didn't expect Warren to be so ecstatic, but he hugged him back warmly.
He watched the excited one hurry around the plaza, as he stood up, happy with himself. "Well, look at him go," he commented, wondering if it would be unwarranted to follow him. Since he didn't know for sure if that would be wise, he waited.
Sain looked down for something to occupy himself and found some small objects to juggle. He picked them up and tried to juggle them, but he couldn't manage the coordination he needed, dropping the things (one rock landing square in his eye).
"Ouch!" he cried out and clutched at his eye.

Warren finally managed to find a stand selling carrots. Not one to skimp out on an opportunity, he'd bought around two dozen. The timing of things meant he walked past where he'd been practicing just as Sain hit himself in the eye with a rock. Realizing what Sain was doing, Warren sighed and placed the pack of carrots in his jacket before walking over to the man.
Warren took hold of Sain's wrists and placed one ball in his hand. Slowly, Warren guided Sain's hands so that they'd juggle the ball as it came around. After a moment of guiding the man, Warren let go to see if Sain could do it on his own.

Sain calmly allowed Warren to assist him. The rabbit-eared performer helped him to get a single ball juggling. This was easy enough on his own, but this way, Sain was able to get the proper motion down. He caught the ball.
"Hey, thanks!" said Sain, ready to challenge himself with two. Two was the same essentially as doing two ones at once, he figured.

Warren smiled as Sain managed to get a hang of one ball. He pulled a second ball out of his jacket and waited for an opening before tossing it to Sain.

Sain began tossing the ball to himself, ready for the second ball.

Warren nodded before tossing the ball to Sain.

Sain caught the ball, and integrated it into his juggling pattern. He struggled, and one of his juggling balls went wide to the left. "Oh, no! I've got it!" He tried to keep the first ball up as he ran after the second, also doing his best not to hit any bystanders.

A small girl stared on at the hustle going on, watching as the knight began juggling like some clown. she saw the whole event, even at the beggining when it was just Warren, but now she started to enjoy this new supply of action. She started to laugh, unable to hide that she was there.
"Hah! That's the funniest show I've seen since ever!"

Sain became distracted, and he slammed into an innocent bystander, dropping the balls. "Ouch!" he exclaimed.
Fortunately, the other man wasn't hurt, but he muttered obscenities under his breath and fumed away.
Sain sheepishly apologized, and picked up the balls, turning to the small girl. "You... thought it was funny?" He was disappointed, he was trying his hardest, and missed the innocence of the remark.

Warren jumped as he heard a little girl speak. As Sain slammed into the man, Warren had moved into a nearby alley. He cursed under his breath. He'd never been that timid before.
He carefully looked out from the alley out at the scene. Sain was now talking to a little girl.
