Whoops. Chief really had to remember he wasn't in some training area or war zone-- he couldn't simply swing sharp objects around. It had been too long since he'd been out in polite--civilian-- company. "Sorry. Anyway, where's the counter in this store?" He swung around, searching. There didn't seem to be anywhere you could buy the swords from, no desk, counter, or automated storekeeper-- how was he supposed to buy this claymore? And for that matter, would his credit chit even work here?

"This way," she offered as she looked around. Her mind was on other things. "And I can cover it if you need me to," Beth offered as they came to the counter. A few blades caught her eyes.

Chief followed her as she made her way through the store. Obviously, she had been here before and knew where the counter was-- A diminutive alien popped out in front of him, somehow unnoticed on his motion tracker, as he jerked in involuntary surprise and his hand went to his pistol.

"NO! That's another customer!" Beth shouted as her eyes landed on a blade. "Perfect." She picked up the blade set.

Chief relaxed sheepishly. He couldn't just assume any alien was hostile, he berated himself. Experience had taught him otherwise, though, and his hand never strayed far away from his weapons.

Beth only sighed before approaching the counter. "Ease up. Honestly you're more bound to be seen as a criminal if you keep going for your weapon," she offered over a shoulder.

Chief made no reply, simply stepping up to the counter and peering over it. There was no one attending it. He looked left, and then right, trying to find anyone who could be an employee. No one. "Hello?" he tried. "Is there anyone here?"

Beth sighed and rang a bell.
"Coming!" came a masculine reply. It's keeper shortly followed. A leonine figure that seemed to be made of a blue star-like mass in a plain white tunic and tan pants. "Sorry for not being out here. Working on an order for a client in the back."

Chief glanced at the alien-- just how many were there, he wondered-- and nodded slightly. "I'd like to buy this claymore," he said, and took out a credit chip and laid it on the counter. "Do you take UNSC creds?"

"Yes. 1 UNSC credit is equivalent to 3 of our currency," the leonine shop keeper replied taking the chip. "So a finely made claymore like that will only cost you about 100 UNSC cred." He scanned it and returned it to Chief. "Repairs for all blades are guaranteed for life and for the lives of the ones that your blade is passed on to."
"And this set of blades? I have boons," Beth offered setting her set up.
"A set of 3 Leonine Scimitars. Direct replicas of those found on Mirrodin. $400 here. With the Boon conversion rate at 1:2 you'd only pay 200," the leonine replied.
"Fair enough. You're Orion aren't you?" she asked as she got out of the correct payment.
He nodded. "A Lunari of Aywa," he added.

Chief nodded happily at the news that his credits were acceptable here-- wait. That meant that they had contact with the UNSC. How had he not known this? He had the highest level of clearance there was... Unless it was another one of ONI's "Oh, wait, there's another level of security so classified you can't even know it exists" levels. Intelligence spooks seemed to be overly fond of those. He swiped the credit chip and scooped it back up.

"Something up sir?" Orion asked. "You're acting like you've seen a Phanto pass through a wall."
Beth chuckled at the mental image.

"Just a thought," Chief said, brushing it off. "Do you know of anyone else that uses UNSC credits?" he casually questioned.

"Not that's come in here. You'd be the first," Orion offered.
Beth watched the pair chat.

"Do you know where a currency exchange would be, then?" Chief questioned.
