"ACE!!" Patrick hastily rushed over to her, his awkward brake causing him to slip backwards. By the time he scrambled back onto his feet, Ace's illness was beyond his knowledge. "A-Are you sure you're alright?"
While Evan slowly came to a halt, he turned to the others and signaled for them to keep going. Everything seemed to be alright; no need for another stop.
"Jesus..." Darien sighed. "Two in a row? I'm gonna reach the bottom in a bloody body bag at this rate."
Evan stood next to Patrick and smirked at Ace. "I hope you don't mind me saying this after that fall, but what you did back there was friggin' awesome."
Patrick didn't say anything else. He simply brushed away a lock of Ace's hair and held her face in his hand, staring into her eyes with the tinniest of smiles.
Strange... Van murmured. Something seems... different about her.
How would you know? Ray questioned. We've only known her for, what, four hours?

"Yeah, I'm good. Thanks..." Ace breathed. "Probably got ahead of myself there. I'm still getting used to this. Uh... What say we head to the bottom and... just take a quick break?"
She just barely suppressed a cringe brought on by a sharp pang below her stomach.

"Sounds like a plan," Beth offered.
"You sure you're okay?" Chrys asked.

"I-I'm sure... there's nothing to worry about," Patrick, in a rather spacey tone, replied; he said this more so to his inner voices than to Chrys, not that anyone other than Evan could tell the difference.
Of course, he was willing to let that slide for now. "Well, now that we're all okay again, I guess a little break would do me well," Evan agreed. "So let's head on down. I'll see you losers at the bottom!" Once again, with an excited laugh, Evan sped downhill, ready to race the others on the last leg of the trip.
If one more person crashes on the way down, I swear I'll... Evan thought, unable to find something witty yet innocent enough to finish his own remark.
"Aw, Evan!" Of course, Patrick couldn't get too mad at him; it was all in good fun. He gave Ace a warm smile. "Ready?"

"Ready." Without another word and more than willing to take it slow for the remainder of the trip, Ace took Patrick's hand -rather spontaneously at that- and followed after Evan.

The girls followed them.

It was at that moment that Kendall snapped out of his trance, having looked into the timeline long enough to know that something was beyond wrong; his terrified expression was proof enough of that. Thus, he lifted himself up and flew down the mountain.
Fortunately, nothing else seemed to get in the way as the team finished their trek. The only other incident to occur was Darien falling over when he tried to brake at the bottom of the hill. Jen was helping him up just as Evan skidded to a halt next to them. "Like a boss!"
Patrick had a deep blush on his face as he boarded hand-in-hand with Ace, but otherwise, he made it to the bottom smoothly. "Whew! That was fun."
"Hey guys!" Kendall swooped down and landed next to Evan, his greeting more distressed than friendly.
"Hey... What's up, Kendall?" Jen questioned.

Ace was mostly quiet as they arrived at the bottom, only letting out a giggle as the adrenaline subdued. When she realized she was still holding Patrick's hand, she quickly let go and turned away, blushing furiously. "S-Sorry."
Swift quickly recognized Kendall's state of worry, and considering the suspicion she had been feeling for the past few hours, it was safe to say that she was fully prepared to accept whatever visions the angel had received, listening silently as he elaborated.

Both looked to him.
"What's up?" asked Chrys.

"Oh, i-it's okay," Patrick mumbled, his hand shyly retreating.
"It's just that..." Kendall hesitated when he noticed Patrick and Ace, hands joined until Ace let go, smiling and blushing at each other. Seeing this, he responded with a gentle, encouraged smile of his own.
"Dude, what's up?" Evan prodded.
"Uh..." Kendall was still smiling as if he didn't have a care in the world. "Nothing. Everything's gonna... be okay."
"Well... Alright. If you say so."

When she realized that Kendall was looking at her and Patrick, Ace frowned at him and made a cut-it-out motion with her hand against her throat.
Swift -to say the least- was not convinced, but she figured she had already been enough of a downer today. They were here to have fun, dang it. "So... Now that we're all good, is anyone else hungry? Ace said that the last one down buys dinner, and I do believe that was you guys." She cast a smirk at Ace and Pat.
Ace blushed and grinned awkwardly at that statement. "Oh... Yeah, I guess I did say that..."

"I am," Chrys commented.
"I'd be good with something warm," Beth offered.

"Hey, I can cover this one," Patrick offered, smiling up at Ace. "My treat. Now come on! I've got a serious pretzel dog jones!"
As the group excitedly headed off to eat, Evan followed with slight hesitation until he and Kendall were at the back of the group. The look he was giving the angel was almost unreadable, though concern was evident enough. "Kenny, buddy, if something's wrong, you know you can tell me."
Kendall sighed. "I can't always say that I know for certain what my visions mean in exact detail. Yes, something big is on the horizon... but all the pieces have been set perfectly in place. The way things are moving along now, everything will turn out fine."
"Do you have to be so vague? To me? Your best friend?"
Seeing Kendall cringe made Evan hastily take those words back; the topic of best friends was always a touchy one for Kendall... for reasons Evan wasn't entirely aware of. "S-Sorry."
"No, it's okay. You're right." Kendall looked Evan in the face. "You and Ace were... lying next to each other... just talking."
"Me and Ace?" Evan stared at the back of Ace's head. "I see. But what about... her and Patrick? Are they...?"
"Yes." Kendall's small grin resurfaced. "And it's a good thing they are. ...Thanks again for taking her in. I promise you that this will all turn out for the better."
His words managed to get Evan smiling again. If there was anyone Evan knew he could always put his trust in, it was Kendall.

Ace happily followed Patrick, knowing that whatever made him happy would surely make her happy too. Like Evan, Swift stayed behind so she could listen in on him and Kendall.
Though her suspicions were still present, she felt comfortable enough to let them slide after Kendall confirmed that the timeline they were on would turn out fine. And as for Patrick and Ace? Yeah, Swift could see it, and she was honestly happy for the duo.
They were good for each other. Even if she hadn't known Ace for too long, Swift could feel it.
And so the team headed inside for some well-needed comfort food. Afterwards, they would likely ride the slopes a few more times before heading home for the night and ending a perfect day. But in their joy and excitement, no one seemed to notice the strange pink fungus that had begun to grow on a tree not two feet away from where Ace had earlier crashed.
