"Yes! Celtic music was a favorite of my late mother's," Todd offered before joining in.
Beth smiled as she hummed along.
"Thanks," Yang replied before climbing on. "I have to get away from my room mate. So what do you recommend first?"

Mickey sighed and slumped his head into his paw. He might've been amused at first, but as far as he was concerned, no good came from that midget guitar that Rio called a mandolin. This was even a song he liked! Of course, it wasn't the same without the guitar. He was effectively bored halfway through, standing up and walking off without a word. Time for plan B...
"Whatever you want! We've got fun out the wazoo!" Cat declared as she climbed up the ladder of a slide. "Not like that Rio, with his weird lute thing and his... lack of a shirt. Seriously, I can never get used to that."

As he and Todd finished the song, Rio smiled with pure bliss, only to frown again when he noticed that Mickey had left. "Typical. Some people just don't know real music when they hear it."
"I don't see why not. Guys go shirtless all the time," Paul snickered before turning to greet Yang. "Name's Paul, by the way."

"Yang." she offered quickly as she scrambled on. "This is pretty darn cool."
"I could play more haunting tunes if he wants morbid stuff. I have a viola for that," Todd offered in a dead pan tone.
Beth watched the guys quietly.

"Yes, yes it is," Cat purred smugly. "Took me weeks to reprogram this thing. Great timing, too, considering last time I-"
The blaring music cut Cat off as she turned to see Mickey walking back onto the beach, equipped with Cat's pocket-sized surround sound MP3 player.

Rio cringed, then slowly turned to scowl at Mickey. Really should've seen this coming.
"Oh hey, I love this song!" Paul cheered.

Beth and Todd both glared at Mickey.
"Really?" Beth replied as an over-sized paintbrush that looked like it belonged in a Dali painting appeared in her hand.
Yang sighed. "This is still really cool," she offered as she bounced about.

"Yeah," Mickey said rather bluntly. "Yeah, I brought my own tunes. Whatcha gonna do about it? Huh? Come at me, bro!"
Seemed that Cat was the only one not complaining. She liked this song. A lot. "Yeeeeeaaaaah! WHOO!" Down the slide, arms raised, Cat was finally back in a partying mood.

Rio turned away and sighed with contempt. It wasn't even the music that bothered him so much as Mickey's attitude about it. Still, the last thing Rio wanted to do was cause a scene -not that he was happy with the alternative- so he sat down on his towel, set his mandolin aside and pouted to himself.
Much like Cat, Paul was quickly put in a good mood, racing down another slide, then swimming about in an upbeat, synchronized fashion.

Todd watched Beth's actions.
"Some of us enjoy something with an understandable rhythm. Besides, what you did was kinda rude. You could have asked them to stop," she commented with the paintbrush still in hand.
"Hey, Mickey, right?" asked Todd. "What about a song battle? You and someone else verses your friend and myself? Let the three on the metal thing decide who wins?"
Yang soon joined in. "Bull's eye!" she called happily.

Mickey shrugged off Beth's quip. Those who knew him best knew that chivalry was not his strong suit, at least not to any sincere degree. Todd's proposal, however, at least got him to tilt his head a bit. "I'm not much of a musician myself. Plus, who else is there to team up with me, wise guy?"
With a mighty splash, Cat threw herself off the slide and into the water. She then began backstroking in circles around Paul. "What're they talking about over there?"

Rio looked up at Todd with a slow nod and an uncharacteristic smirk. "Sounds interesting, if I do say so myself. Not that anyone would willingly partner with my accomplice here."
"I think they're challenging your raccoon friend to a musical battle," Paul explained. "I don't know, but I like the sound of it!"

Beth gave a deep sigh. "I sing and that's about it," she sheepishly admitted.
Todd sighed. "Maybe Yang. If she heard," Todd offered.
Beth backed off. {Yeah... I'm always the odd one out....} she thought.
Yang smiled. "You two want to go watch this?" she asked. "The only option he has is that weird chick."

"Hmph..." Mickey's ears flattened. He was rarely one to resist a challenge, but he could already tell that this one was unfair. Losing to Rio was unappealing enough, but he wasn't too keen to the idea that this girl was his only possible partner. "Can I have a second option here?"
"Yeah, sure, why not?" Cat chuckled. "I'm always game for Rio and Mickey's measuring contests."

"You could always go play your music somewhere else," Rio offered bluntly, his next statement dripping with sarcasm. "But nah, that would be a stupid idea. Any idea that's not yours is stupid. So what'll it be, Mr. Crimson Bandit?"
Paul simply went along with Cat and Yang, eager to see what this was all building up to.
