Once the broken-down turbine was out of Metal's systems, Paul took it off Shulk's hands and carried it aside, letting the mechanic finish his work. As he gently set the part down, he spared a quick peak at Nora, then occupied himself with studying the old turbine.
It definitely was an odd design for an odd robot, one that he had never seen the likes of before. Heck, most of the spare parts in this room were unlike anything he had worked with back at PHASE. But Shulk seemed to have this under control, and he certainly trusted him that much. It almost made Paul wonder if there really was anything he could contribute...

The repair work was a slow-going process as Shulk continued removing and replacing parts. Something the young man would note though was that for every part removed, the more repaired Metal became the more odd that things became. Shortly after he installed Metal Face's booster and finished working with the wires, Metal Sonic's metallic body seemed to adapt to it, SLOWLY CHANGING ITSELF AROUND to it's new turbine like it was made of liquid as opposed to metal. And when it found the ideal shape, the shifting would stop and Metal would take a moment to analyze the new piece, almost as if admiring how well it fit onto him. While surprised, Shulk and Paul continued into the work, following partial instruction by Metal whom kept on pointing out parts from the pile that it thought would best fit into it's broken body. At one point, Shulk and Paul had to look into the joints of Metal's shoulders and fix them up before installing the wiring of his new arms into place. One step closer... Metal Sonic tested out his new arms once the two finished, moving them around, the metal of his body melding into the arms to better adjust to them.... Then one of them GRIPPED the fingers into a fist, the fist shaking in what almost looked like rage... One step at a time... "Now I am in need of a generator, an inner engine that I can use to process energy and keep standard unit running for longer periods of time."[ Current Reference image for Metal ]

Shulk barely noticed Nora's question as he worked, feeling a bit of sweat beading on his forehead... this robot was truly a marvel, though bizarre. Whoever initially built him must have been a master with robotics...
The Homs glanced over as he walked to find a Mechon generator from his parts. "Ah... just leave the Large Mangos, please. And... I'd avoid those raspberries in there if you don't like spicy food." With that, the blond took the part out, bringing it over to replace the robot's current damaged generator.

Nora shrugged, pulling out some miscellaneous stuff then searching for bread to make a quick sandwich. On occassion, she peeked over to see them working on Metal, somewhat impressed, and a bit disturbed by his alterations. "Wow, that's a neat robot," she muttered, going back to making her sandwich.
Outside, the odd mist from earlier only seemed to get worse and worse. Occassionally, what appeared to be an odd spectar would peer in through a window, but vanish moments later.
Something had taken a liking to that group...

As he helped Shulk with each repair, Paul curiously observed Metal's odd behaviors as he adapted to his new additions. It certainly raised a lot of questions, many of which he was starting to wonder if he wanted answered at all, but he decided to leave them for later and just work, distracting his troubled thoughts by humming softly to himself.
Every once in a while, Paul's eyes flicked over to the window, head tilting and tail twitching with intrigue. He was almost positive something was out there in that mist.

Once Shulk was finished, once more the metal body adapted to the generator.
FINALLY.
Grateful for the energy provider and creator, Metal pulled the wall outlet and let it reel back into his body automatically. Good riddance to bad RUBBISH, he thought. A plug-in was just a sign of weakness... Still he would need legs. Getting his systems functional and optimal in his top half was great, but it meant nothing if his foot boosters were still out of commission... The only part Metal WOULDN'T let Shulk touch however was his Burst Shield Generator, the part that allowed him to create his Black Shield and use his maximum boost attack. For the robot had a feeling that if Shulk ever found out he was a weapon, then all pleasantries would abruptly end. As such, the first chance he could adapt, he temporarily moved the part into his head. At least until it was safe to move it back into his chest cavity.
"Energy signatures fluctuating and normalizing, Equilibrium restored." It was a nice feeling honestly. The generator almost made him feel like a new robot...
In fact... While the generator in him wasn't designed to last more then a few years, he could tell the technology behind it was very well ahead whatever the doctor was capable of... In fact, the metal he was being given felt even sturdier...
"Question. Where did you get these pieces?"

Shulk stepped back, eyeing the robot over to see what parts were necessary to repair... he spoke, a hand on his chin. "These were parts that I've saved from various Mechon I've faced and scrapped. Their parts do make for good replacements, I've found... What else is still damaged?"
The Homs didn't seem uneasy... Shulk was figuring that if something bad was going to happen, he'd have gotten a vision by now.

"Sorry for interupting, but what's a mechon?" Nora asked, slurping the sandwich into her mouth seconds later. "I take it you've fought a lot of them, if they're even something to fight."

Paul kept quiet, considering the question was directed at Shulk and he was somewhat curious himself. In the meantime, he opted to examine Metal's legs and the boosters in his feet, noting that they were all that was left to repair.
He couldn't help but constantly cast quick glances at the window.

Metal meanwhile made sure to record this data.... Then record the data regarding Shulk's physical characteristics... Particularly his wavelength and the potential world he could have come from... It sounded like going there would be an interesting enterprise. Well whatever the case, he needed only one last replacement... One last NECESSARY REPLACEMENT... Then after that... Perhaps....
"Leg units are all that is required along with new jet boosters. After that, I merely require a night in sleep mode to charge." That would give him just enough time to adjust to any new features he may have gained in his repairs... Plus he would need time to scan whatever parts were in the pile in the corner of Shulk's apartment. He didn't need ALL of the scrap, just the necessary, working and repairable pieces....

Shulk shook his head slightly. "No need to apologize. They are indeed; Mechon were mechanical living weapons that were created on a titan that lived opposite the one I lived on. They constantly attacked my people and we didn't really have a good way to deal with them, since they were very durable against normal weaponry."
The Homs nodded as Metal spoke, going and getting a pair of Mechon leg parts out... and a few leg boosters that had come from a Mass-Produced Face unit, the ones based off of Xord. "There we are... that ought to do it, then." The engineer lifted his goggles, eyeing his repair work over.

"So... we'd need something as tough as a Mechon to fight a mechon?" she asked, curious.
The tiny being in the mist eventually stopped ducking, leaving an imprint in one of the windows. It mostly seemed to be scribbles on the fogged up glass, scribbles that made no sense. ...Almost like the user was mostly playful.
(OOC: Is magic useful against Mechon?)

Still finding himself with nothing to say, Paul simply handed Shulk the tools he would need for this last repair and moved over to the window. His curiosity had finally gotten the better of him when he noticed the scribbles on the frosty glass. Someone or something had to have made these random markings, and Paul was anxious to figure it out.

Everything was now back to complete working order... All Metal had to do now was let all of the parts properly adapt to each other and allow his new generator to fully charge up to fullest capacity. Thankfully, he had at least had the means to do so now... Still, with the scientists all looking at him, he supposed it would be good to continue enforcing the thoughtframe that he was non-harmful, a simplistic machine... "Repairs complete. Entering sleep mode until fully charged."
His lit eyes appeared to turn off as he entered a kind of rest mode...
What no-one would've realized however was that Metal was still listening. Intently.
It was time to gather some information....

(OOC: Ether, the closest thing to Magic in Shulk's world, does damage, but only 50% as much to Mechon without Monado Enchant or an Anti-Mechon weapon. I don't know if Magic would be quite the same, but I'd imagine similar principles apply for the most part.)
Shulk exhaled as Metal went into sleep mode. "Well, that takes care of that..." Not paying attention to Paul's looking at the window, the Homs nodded. "Indeed... well, sort of." He went over, picking the Monado up. "My sword, the Monado, coalesces Ether into a blade, and it can cut through Mechon easily. It also can enchant other weapons to damage Mechon the same way. I also do have some leftover Anti-Mechon weapons that were developed during the conflict against them; those work perfectly fine as well."
