Patrick blinked, startled by Ace's sudden movement. "Uh... Are you oka-?"
Then she was demanding to know where Jack was. Something about him had clearly set her off. Hopefully this next bit of information would ease her nerves.
"Well, after my friends and I defeated him, I stuck him in a binding orb, then we stuck that orb in a blood herdron, then I stuck that hedron in my personal void inventory. So... yeah. I don't think he'll be bothering us."

"And you're certain he can't escape??" Ace questioned. "You're sure he can't pass through the binding orb and hedron and start roaming around your pocket inventory?? Oh God, how did he even find this island in the first place?! I though Kendall banished him!"

"Y-Yeah, I'm pretty sure..." Patrick stuttered, somewhat disturbed by Ace's panic. "I put all my effort into making that binding spell permanent, and I trust Beth's blood-based weapons and stuff."
His eyes widened at Ace's next comment. "Wait, Kendall? Do you two know this guy??"

Ace inhaled sharply through clenched teeth, then she exhaled, slumped and turned away from Patrick. She had been coming clean for a while, so no sense in stopping now.
"Jack... is... my ex. He's... pretty much the whole reason I fell." She reached under her hat and tugged at her hair. "But now he's here and I thought he was out of my life and... gyaaaaahhhhh...!"

Patrick was stunned silent.
What the f***?! Ray protested.
That is one incredibly concerning coincidence, Van awkwardly mused.
No seriously, what the F***?!
Ray, this doesn't mean anything between her and us.
It just means this girl has s*** taste in dudes!
"Hey...!" Patrick whined inwardly before standing up and turning his attention back to Ace. "Okay... so... you guys do know each other. B-But you have nothing to worry about! Like I said, he's bound and gagged! You just leave that snotty little has-been to me, babe!" he declared in a playfully manly tone.

"I know... I just... don't know if I feel safe knowing he's here." Ace rubbed her arms. "The guy's a monster. I'm sure you've figured that out. And the more distance I can put between me and him, the better."
She looked up at Patrick and nodded. "But I guess all I can do is trust your word. And if Jack rears his ugly mug again, you can bet we're socking it to him."
Having said that, Ace decided to push any thoughts of Jack aside for now for the sake of her own sanity. There was still the almost-naked feral boy on their couch to deal with. "So you say Evan's been like this ever since you exorcised Jack?"

"You got that right." Patrick pumped a fist and nodded once. Then he looked down at Evan again.
"Yeah... Van did take a quick peek into his mind a while ago. All we know for certain is that he's connected to some kind of hive mind or pack mentality or something like that. We're not sure what exactly it traces back to." He awkwardly rubbed his neck. "We were hoping to regain some of the energy he'd need for this kind of divination. The- The battle with Jack was pretty tiring. We did get a little sleep, but I still don't quite feel in peak condition."

"Hm..." Ace cringed slightly, finally noticing that Evan was stretching the skin of his lips in an attempt to open his mouth. Not wanting him to hurt himself, she simply rearranged his cells again to give him his mouth back. Loud as he might've been, at least Ace and Patrick were out of harm's way.
"I guess the best thing to do would be to build up some strength, then. Want me to cook you something?"

"Aw, I don't wanna force ya..." Patrick chuckled over the incessant roars of his now-vocal best friend. "But I guess some food would do this body well!"

"It's no problem! Honestly, I've been bored brainless for the last few hours," Ace laughed as she glided into the kitchen. "Besides, I'm kinda hungry myself. How about some eggs?"

"Sounds like a plan!" Patrick chimed as he bounded after her, leaving Evan to screech and holler at their backs as if demanding their attention.
In the kitchen, Patrick paused as he listened to a suggestion from Van, one that actually wasn't that bad. As Ace prepared to cook their eggs, Patrick grabbed a large bowl and filled it with water, carrying it with him back into the living room. He set the water bowl down on the floor next to the couch, then he raised his hands and, with a quick swipe, expanded the blue light that bound Evan so that, rather then restrain him against the couch, it formed a bubble that encompassed Evan and the entire couch. He then quickly retreated back into the kitchen while Evan proceeded to throw himself against the glass-like surface and try to smash and slash his way free.
The spell would not comply. Now Evan could only pace and rage as he found himself caged in an even tighter spot. Partway through his screams, however, the water caught his attention. It hadn't occurred to him until that moment that all of his screaming had greatly dried his throat out. He inspected the water, not fully trusting it, considering it came from these strange creatures that had imprisoned him. It looked alright. It smelled alright. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it. Thus, tentatively, Evan leaned his head into the bowl and started lapping up the cool liquid.
Relief... Must become stronger... Must be free... Must... Must... Must what? Strange creatures... Different... Not us... Captors... They hurt... They... make better...? Don't understand... Can't be different... Must be same!

"Well, that was awfully nice of you," Ace mused once Patrick returned. "I think it actually calmed him down too."
As she heated up the skillet on the stove and grabbed some eggs, something else crossed Ace's mind. "So... there's plenty of weird stuff out there, I take it. I mean, the way I look doesn't bother you, does it?"

"No, of course not!" Patrick insisted as he popped some bread in the toaster. "Pardon the cliché, but isn't it what's inside that matters? I mean yeah, plenty of people I came across out in the city had undergone physical changes but still acted like their normal selves. For the most part, anyway."

Ace shrugged as she cracked the eggs and emptied their contents into the skillet. "I guess. Really, I'm only asking because... well, like I said, I've been sitting in this apartment alone for I don't know how long. I... I think having nothing to do is wearing on my nerves."

"You..." Patrick scooted over to Ace, smiling childishly and playfully leaning against her. "You... You wanna... go out and explore the island? 'Cause I'd be okay with that! Just you and me, out on an adventure on a creepy, cursed island!"
He looked over his shoulder at Evan, who was still messily lapping up water and getting most of his surroundings wet in the process. "Or... well... it sounds like a cool idea. There's just the issue of..."
