..........................
.... 0100 hours, morning...
.... His inner systems let out a soft beep when his engine once more reached it's optimal self-sustaining status... Slowly, the robot lifted it's head, powering up as it's eyes once more turned on... The room was dark inspiring confidence that everyone was still asleep... Making as little noise as possible, he switched to night vision.
The room was empty. Meaning that either his saviors had left or were somewhere else in this establishment...
He switched to Infrared...
There were some heat signatures in the other rooms of this place, but they were relatively cool, non-active.
....
GOOD.
The energy from his engine spread to his entire body, reactivating his limbs... Fwoosh... clink!
Metal Sonic was back in action. Looking around, he silently clinked as he walked, looking around for his next objective... In his head, he could remember everything he had been told about the metal that had been used to rebuild him. Supposedly unbreakable was it? Then why was it here in PIECES? IT seemed like such a waste of good material... Oh well, he'd be FIXING that problem soon enough.
After a moment of looking about with Night Vision he finally found it. A pile of the Mechon Metal all situated and ready for usage... Metal made a note to himself to clean out any other supplies this human had, if indeed he had any more at all. The way he talked, it seemed safe to assume that this small pile was not all he had.
Slowly, Metal touched the metal..
Positive charge...
.... Okay then.
He switched his body to a negative charge, causing electricity to course out of him, it created a light that lit up the room...
But as the parts flew at him and started melding into his body, he found he could care LESS.

Vrak.
Paul was fast asleep in one of the apartment's spare rooms. At Shulk's offer, he had opted to stay for the night, if only because he wanted to keep close to the robot long enough to learn more about it and see how it would react to its upgrades. Given his decision, and with further approval from Shulk, he insisted his new friend and roommate stay with him. It just didn't feel right leaving a ten-year-old alone at the hotel, even though he knew the kid was experienced enough to take care of himself; what were friends for, after all?
For now, the duo slept. Paul was curled up with the bed sheets covering about half of his shirtless, blue-scaled torso. His blond-haired buddy was nestled on the other side with a blanket and pillow, his orange parka lazily strewn out at his feet. Despite both of them being deep in relatively sound sleep, Paul seemed... distressed. He dozed with a permanent grimace on his face, as if he were in a perpetual state of worry.
Rocen, sia vrak.
Paul had to wonder why his dreams had been like this ever since coming to the island. In this slumbering void, he was alone... but he didn't feel alone. It always seemed as if something was watching him, something powerful yet benevolent. He felt this even disregarding the warm, booming voice that spoke to him in a bizarre tongue that he had never heard before, and yet he understood entirely, perfectly, like a second language that he never knew he could speak.
Lleisgar, ghergo ir. Dout thurirli re persvek korth.
Danger...?
Wer kovgam ir. Pok wer kovgam ir!
With a jolt, Paul sat up in bed, startled by the urgency in his visitor's tone. He panted for a bit and gripped the sheets, taking a moment to pull himself together. He cast a quick glance at Kenny, who was still sound asleep, then he turned and looked towards the bedroom door.
The metal one... That could only mean one thing.
Slowly and cautiously, Paul dragged himself out of bed and tiptoed over to the door. Taking the warnings to heart, the light and clanking noises coming from the living room were not a good sign.

"H...Hhnn?" Shulk grunted, hearing clanking and crackling as well. The Homs tossed on a t-shirt and pants, heading by his bedroom door... this didn't seem right, at all.
And he didn't have the Monado with him. It was in that room. Shulk carefully cracked open his door to look out...

Sleeping on a bed in another guest room, Nora simply slept through all the goings on around her, the girl seemingly oblivious to the fact a rampant robot was waking up and assembling new pieces of itself. No, she was trapped in dreamland. Thinking about delicious pancakes and candies and other insane sweets.
However, not far from Metal, keeping herself on the couch, was the tiny sprite. Her icy cool body temperature might have tipped off his heat sensors, but she was cold enough to most likely appear as a lump of ice- not really a threat. She stirred on the couch, looking up to realize she'd been moved there with a blanket.
All she really knew was that something was happening, but she really just wanted to sleep.

Both Shulk and Paul looked out to the living room...
The light was building as Metal phased more of the Mechon metal parts as time went on. As they did, his body would... Shift... and the more it shifted, the more powerful the robot felt. He felt his engine start whirring even stronger then ever before. He felt his body thicken and become empowered. As if the very metal itself was granting it's gift unto him. He felt stronger, swifter, more durable. LIKE NOTHING IN THE WORLD COULD POSSIBLY EVER TOUCH HIM AGAIN. Not these scientists, not that HEDGEHOG...
Not even the good doctor...
What was strange though was that the more Metal absorbed, the more he didn't really get clunkier so much as his body ITSELF started to change. The simplistic blue robot was turning from that into a taller and more intimidating figure with larger spines and wearing a metal plate behind his waist, his wrists extended outwards like he was wearing armor, His fingers became defined claws, the trackshoe like design of his feet extended transforming into armored greaves, with metal plated shoes underneath.
In short... Shulk and Paul watched as a seemingly innocent looking machine slowly transformed itself into something much more monstrous.

Oh xsio...
Rather than race out to confront the robot, Paul retreated back into his room, dashed over to the window, opened it and swooped outside. He perched gracefully on the catwalk, shuffling along it with his body pressed against the building, quickly and steadily as a ninja. He made his way over to the living room window, slipping a claw between the panes to pick the interior lock. Then, slowly and silently, he slid the window open and snuck in.
Metal's back was to him. If he could act quickly and quietly enough...
While that was going on, though, Kenny was waking up. The clanging was enough to stir him, but Paul's hasty actions right within earshot promptly got the kid to open his eyes. "P-Paul...?"

Shulk's eyes widened. This wasn't good. At all. That robot was shifting, adapting... And he didn't have the Monado with him. He needed to get that blade. Carefully, slowly, Shulk cracked his door a little further...

The small sprite shook a little, Metal's rampant energy build up causing her to wiggle in result to all of the heat going on. She was getting... pretty angry with Metal Sonic causing all of that light and energy to float about, and honestly just wanted him to quit it. Generating frost in her palms, the sprite lunged toward Metal, swinging them up to smack the beast with several shards of ice.

AAAAAAAH~ ALL OF THIS DATA. ALL OF THIS FORWARD PROGRESSION. IT WAS AMAZING. THE NEW METAL FORMING AND MELDING INTO HIS ARMOR WAS TRULY AMAZING NEW ADDITIONS. THEY MADE HIM FEEL GREATER, STRONGER. As he continued draining away the metal and melding it however, his advanced hearing picked up sounds behind him, an increase in the breeze as if someone had just opened the window... Then...
"Paul?"
A VOICE!
Metal turned around quickly to see Paul trying to sneak up on him. Faster then Paul could react, the machine pulled out it's machine gun functions and took aim-
Then he sensed more movement, something zipping right at him with a type of energy that didn't catch onto his heat readings but still picked up regardless on his chaos sensor. He looked to find the sprite from before rushing at him, attempting to slam him with ice shards. Letting out several beeps, Metal, almost looking AGGRAVATED, aimed and FIRED at the sprite with absolutely no warning whatsoever.
Hit or miss however, the bullets were loud and panic inspiring, ripping through the apartment's furniture and walls like it was tinfoil.

Paul froze, rooted several feet away from Metal, rigid like a startled cat. Fight or flight was taking a while to kick in, but it took full force when the robot suddenly opened fire on the sprite.
"AAH-!!" Without much thought, Paul charged at Metal and slammed into his side with a great deal of force. He might not have been strong enough to completely knock the robot off his feet, but it was a descent enough push to throw him off balance, and Paul's skin was tough enough that the collision barely hurt.
All the while, in the spare room, Kenny sat up in bed and tensed up, eyes wide with panic as the sounds of commotion suddenly commenced. "HOLY F***!"

Aaaaand now there was gunfire. Fighting down the urge to scream, Shulk grit his teeth. He needed to get to his weapon... but how?
Then it hit him. "Of course..."
Shulk crouched down, drawing what Ether was in the area to him, shrouding himself. "Shadow Eye." With that, he began sneaking into the other room, looking... there was the Monado. If this robot was hostile and had... assimilated, for lack of a better word, the Mechon parts... well, he'd definitely need the weapon.

The fae flew backwards, giving a shrill screech as she smacked into a wall. She flopped onto the floor, completely knocked out.
Nora stirred in her bed. "Five more minutes," she sighed, stretching out.

Metal's rain of bullets was re-aimed with a SMACK, as Paul tackled Metal. With some more disjointed beeps, the robot looked to Paul...
ZIP! Whoosh!!!
He was right in front of Paul before the man knew what happened.
BAM!!!!!
The punch sent Paul blasting backwards, crashing into the wall... What had increased the sheer force of the blow was a number of small jet repulsors that was now built into Metal's knuckles, which unleashed a powerful sonic blast upon impact.
All this power, all of the new features... And he was still absorbing more and MORE...
At that moment however, Metal's heat signatures picked up another signal in the room.

Paul scrambled away from Metal, quickly regaining his balance and bracing himself for a counterattack. He had expected a hard hit, sure, but... God, not THIS hard. Before he could even begin to process Metal's actions, Paul was plastered against a dragon man-shaped imprint in the wall. His body might've been tough enough to take such a hit, but nonetheless, the force of the attack was undoubtedly formidable. "Ahh... God dang."
He pried himself away, casting a glance at the sprite. She didn't look too good...
In the meantime, Kenny jumped out of bed and over to the door, anxiously listening to the commotion going on one room over. His mind reeled as he tried to determine a course of action. He might not have had his Mysterion getup on him, but darn it if he didn't at least try to help his friend.

As the fight continued, Shulk sneaked further into the apartment, closer, closer... he could practically feel the Monado's weight in his hands already.
The Homs reached out, his fingers just about wrapped around the blade's grip...
