Yang nodded. "You distance yourself from people you're unsure of or fear you'll hurt but are actually one of the warmest people to those they trust. Sure Blake still has her trust issues and tends to over work herself but she means well," she offered in response.

.... Alex looked down.... He actually had to admit... That had been the first time someone had said something nice about him in quite a while... Or rather, that had been the first nice thing someone had said to him that he was willing to, WANTED TO, believe. Far too often, back in the days of the game, he had heard kind commentary from his fellow players, assuring him that his past screw-ups had been beyond his control. Something he couldn't stop. And all too often he recognized those comments as lies. Far too often, he just felt that their commentary helped him grow more fearful of his powers. Because with them, he became more and more able to hurt those that cared for him, more and more able to put them in terrible danger...
Maybe it was becuase Yang had already proven herself durable enough to survive his full wrath, maybe it was the fact that she had been among the first new faces he had met outside the game... All he knew was Yang talking so highly of him just made him feel both bigger and smaller... And yet made him feel it was a pleasant kind of confusion.
".... Thanks..." He turned away, feigning continued looking around. "I'm... Flattered that you think so highly of me honestly..." He had good reason to be, even if he failed and was likely doomed to fail, he still tried to kill her in his Grimdark form. "I'm... Not really used to that..."

Yang nodded. "Honesty isn't a terrible thing and you're a good guy with one heck of a bad side. I'd rather have you as an ally than an enemy I know that for sure. Also you can keep up with me of all people- Dad would probably love to meet you," the blonde offered as she picked up a few figures. "I might also have a discount card here...." she admitted.

Alex had to admit, it was almost hard to hear such praise. Particularly from Yang of all people... He looked down as he put away the Songbird figure.... Then he second guessed and picked it up anyway... Then he grabbed a Garnet figurine quickly after. "Hehehe... Meet your dad huh? Yeah, I dunno about that..." Still, as he said this, he finally noticed another shelf nearby. "Oh hey! Comics!" He rushed over and started digging through them. "Hmmm, issue...60-?? Christ I am WAY behind. Looks like I'll need to special order the others."
Yang would have likely noticed, with now small amount of amusement that he was looking at and talking about the stack of My Little Pony comics. So the big bad Thief of Void was into that kind of thing?

"There's a used book shop that has all sorts of comics cheaper than here," Yang offered with a smile. "So... have a favorite villain in that series?" she followed up as she peaked over his shoulder.

Alex looked up to her, face aflush, but looking pleasantly surprised. "You read these too~?" He looked a bit excited at the prospect. "What else do you read?"

"Todd has a collection of comics and I typically read what ever I can. Still a student by technicality remember? But mostly combat related things..." she answered. "I watch the show. It's cute and rather nice."

Combat related eh? It sounded like he and Yang would have a lot to talk about in the coming days. Still with the bookstore being so close by, there really was no reason to buy comics here. He grinned as he put the comics away. "In that case~, let's pay for our stuff here and head on over! I've got to see what all the bookstore has~."
He was actually starting to enjoy this trip now. At least now they subject had drifted from clothes to geek stuff. Incidentally, Alex had no idea that the jockish Yang had such an interest in some of the shows he had seen. Sure she was geeky enough herself if the bad puns was anything to go by, but the discovery of such was a really nice find.

When the two walked into the bookstore, Alex once more led the charge recognizing that he could find the most recent comics from the Magazine rack. Once he had the most recent, he could travel back to the back rows and locate the issues he was also missing. He went through various Sonic and Megaman comics before moving on to the manga and graphic novels. "One Piece, Pokemon, Fairy Tail~. It's official, I have died and gone to heaven~!"

Alex had to take a moment to consider all of the good ones he knew. "Well Magi comes to mind... Then there's the two I mentioned before, One Piece, Fairy Tail. I hear Toriko is good, as well as Hunter X Hunter... AH and of course we can't forget the Dragon Ball franchise and recent newcomer Akame Ga Kill." He looked through the manga section and found that Akame Ga Kill wasn't such a newcomer anymore... It was a number of issues in... "Or it's.... Not so very new anymore." A sweatdrop was present as he browsed through the books some more. "But of course, there's plenty of other good stuff aside from manga, there's Marvel Comics with the Avengers, Miss Marvel, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Doctor Strange... Then there's DC Comics with Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, the Suicide Squad, Green Lantern..."
There was likely a game now playing in the background with a counter just counting up how many comic series Alex was naming and using THAT to determine just how massive of a dork he was.
"Oh but we can't ignore other comic series either. Dark Horse Comics in particular has been churning out some pretty cool gems, like the Adventure Time comics, Regular Show, the My Little Pony Comics you saw back in the other store, Avatar the Last Airbender-" He stopped when he passed by one particular shelf. "DEVIL IS A PART TIMER~. WITH LIGHT NOVEL ISSUES 2-6 NOW AVAILABLE. HELL TO THE FUCKING YES PLEASE~." He started grabbing up the aforementioned books in spite of the already growing pile in his arms.

Alex turned to her with a grin as he just kept on collecting junk to buy. At this point it was definitely clear he was buying in bulk. "Honestly, either or works. Marvel always delivers some pretty cool stuff... OH! But I do suggest the most recent Thor stuff." When Yang checked why, she found that the Thor on the cover was a woman as opposed to the man in chainmail. "Yeah. Marvel's was on a representation kick when I first started reading their stuff... And judging by all of the cool new issues of Ms. Marvel with the Muslim protagonist, it looks like their still ongoing with it." He continues collecting books.

"I'll say~. Anyways, I'd better cut myself off here... It's probably going to take me months just to read through a QUARTER of these..." That was indeed true, Alex had collected a large number of books, comics and manga.

To think that the massive buying spree in the bookstore hadn't even put a DENT in his account. It was simply amazing. Chuckling to himself, Alex stored away his multiple bags full of books into his void modus. "Well that was fun~. So let's see, where should we go next?" Yang quickly noted that his eyes were just glazing over various clothing stores nearby in favor of finding something more fun to do with his time. "Let's see let's see let's see... AH! Movies! That's always a good thing to keep track of! New releases! Come on! Let's go get some!"
