Staying close to Kendall, Lagola shyly smiled back at Ace. "H-Hi..."
Kendall chuckled softly. "Yes, things have been quite eventful lately... I hope you don't mind if Lagola joins our little group. She could really use some friends."
Alex's dumbfounded expression hardly deterred Evan. He just smiled at the thief as if he hadn't a care in the world, tilting his head and asking in a cutesy singsong voice, "Penny for your thooooughts?"
"You know this guy?" Patrick asked, elbowing Evan.
"Yeah! He went with us on a little trip to Bonsai Village the other day! And HOO BOY, what a day it was! I'll tell you all about it later! Haha!" Evan's off-putting cheerfulness seemed profoundly excessive, even for him. "And HEY, good to see you've picked yourself back up! Things did get a little heated back there, huh? But hey, those troubled waters are all under the bridge and whatnot! We're like Simon and Garfunkel up in here and- PFFT, I don't know where I was going with that! HAHAHAHA...!"

"Kendall, any friend of yours is a friend of mine!" Ace beamed at Lagola again. "We'd love to have you on board! You're just so cute!"
She stood back up and warily looked at Evan, though her voice was still directed at Kendall and Lagola. "Now, uh... is he okay? He seems a bit... high."

.................... Alex was thoroughly tempted to smack Evan. This behavior was just starting to creep him out a tiny bit. Alex looked past Evan and looked to Kendall, giving him a confused expression. Kendall only just shrugged. He then turned to look at Ryan; poor confused Ryan that seemed completely clueless as to what was going on. Curious... Well whatever the case, he'd have to get to that in a moment... He held up a finger to Ryan, asking for a moment before he started explaining.
First things first, it looked like he'd need to take care of business.
Talking to Evan like this just felt cheap. Would he really understand ANYTHING going on if he went on?
Maybe it would be better to test this first... Still... He pulled out a bottle of ice cold water as he walked up to Evan, looking at the man oddly. "Do you even remember what happened back on Bonsai? Any sort of details beyond things getting heated? At all?"

Instantly, Ryan summoned forth a thick looking sketchbook in the blink of an eye, peeking out from it as he shook. "C-can we not have fighting? Please?" he asked. "I-I'm not afraid to open the Pop-up Pain Bringer...!!" If he wasn't still shouldering his losses, his threat wouldn't look so laughable. Especially considering he was shaking like a leaf in a blender.

Lagola's smile widened, her cheeks flushing deep a deep brown. Kendall just shrugged to Alex before explaining to Ace, "Well, you must understand that he is essentially dreaming right now. As such, mentally, he's in a very hazy and dreamlike trance right now."
In response to Alex's question, Evan also shrugged, his smile relaxing ever so slightly. "Well, yeah! I remember the trip to the garden and talking to Sanuta about the island's history. I remember checking out the quest bed on the mountain and... you and me getting kinda upset about... stuff. Then that Clockwork douchebag showed up and you and Swift flipped your respective lids and... now she's gone and..."
As he spoke, Evan's over-the-top smile slowly drooped into an equally over-the-top sad puppy dog stare. "...and I was... kinda wondering if... maybe... you could let me know if she's alright??"

Ace's eyes widened as Evan recapped his story, quickly dashing up to the boys to fully insert herself into the conversation. "Whoa, whoa, what? W-What happened to Swift?! Whadya mean she's gone?!"

"Ryan put the book down." he said to the Seer calmly. "This is my mess. Let me clean it up." That definitely caught Patrick's attention as well. Letting out a sigh, the thief crossed his arms and looked down. ".... Things... Definitely got heated. I got short with Evan. However, much as my behavior was uncalled for, at the time I believed I was in the right. And I wasn't wrong for thinking so."
Ryan definitely looked confused as this went on.
"Evan's plan, going along with a plan by another friend of mine, Beth. Was to unpause this planet and the events about to take place here. Which would have put Dimensional Island, it's population, and the rest of us at serious risk." ....... "I got short with Evan for wanting to proceed with this plan and spoke out my frustrations... He did the same... Though not before USING THE KEY ON ME TO FREEZE ME IN PLACE..........
"I couldn't move... So I got mad. I got frustrated. Then another attacker came into the picture and things got REALLY out of hand... In the end, the other attacker was scared off... But Swift, whom had flown into some kind of unnattural rage, attacked me, threatening to kill me and everyone in the immediate area... So I locked her up in the void... Then, in a moment of rage, I stole the Paramount Key too."

".... Evan. Rest assured Swift is safe... But she's definitely NOT calming down like I hoped she would. If anything she's only getting worse.... And as for the Paramount Key. I already gave it to Kendall..." The thief seemed to take a moment to consider this, thinking and rubbing his head trying to recall.... "You'll have to forgive me, when I go Grimdark, my consciousness tends to drift in and out... I vaguely remember you saying something about Swift's condition... But it sounded like you were really far away and I couldn't make anything out..."

Ryan's face went stone white. He tried thinking up something to say, but was drawing blanks... "Well... If I were thrown in a void, I'd be mad, too," he offered. "Though... this mad seems a bit... different... Also, I don't see why it's a good idea to freeze someone in place..."

"Whoa, you say what now?!" Patrick anxiously looked back and forth between Evan and Alex. "When did-? How-? Swift was-? Yokai- Lids flipping-? Nat said- I don't- WHAT??"
Evan took a deep breath and sadly stared at the ground. "Yeah... Yeah, Swift's yokai blood took over. I-I had her ring; I was gonna use it to balance her out again, but... I dunno... Everything just went to craaaaap..." He fondled with the Paramount Key beneath the fabric of his pajamas. "You were yelling, then I wanted to talk, and I just got upset, then Clockwork showed up and I couldn't unlock you... All I wanted was to speak my mind before you took off on me, but... yeah, that wasn't cool of me. So..."
He then offered a hand to Alex. "For what it's worth... Is it too late now to say sorrrrrrrryyyy?"

Ace couldn't help but facepalm, partially at Evan's choice of song but mostly at Alex's explanation. "You threw a raging yokai Swift into the void. Of course that's not gonna calm her down! I think anyone in that situation would just be even more ticked off!"
She then pulled her hand away and added, "And to be fair, no one really told us what we were getting into. Most of us here were just trying to figure that much out."

All that earned him was an unamused look from the god-tier as he unscrewed his water bottle...
Evan soon found the ice-cold liquid splashed in large quantities in his face. When he regained his wits, he noticed Alex drinking down the rest of the water in the bottle before trashing the bottle into a void portal. "You're not forgiven. Do you have ANY IDEA what it feels like to be incapable of moving? BARELY ABLE TO FUCKING BREATHE? ONLY BEING CAPABLE OF JUST LYING THERE WHILE SOME JACKASS TRIES TO KILL YOUR FRIENDS AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING? UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE FROZEN BY THAT GODDAMNED KEY YOU CAN FORGET IT."
Before Evan could get all teary at this or whatever, this was followed up. "I WILL HOWEVER BE GIVING YOU SWIFT BACK. If all we need is this ring, we just need to come up with a plan to get her out of the void without hurting anyone nearby. Skaia is a good option for a setting, but we still need the ring, which I'm sure only your waking self actually has." He shrugs and lets out a breath. "At the same time however, we should be careful... We DO need Skaia in one piece for the game."

Ryan raised his hand. "For what it's worth, I might be able to make a cage for her," he offered. He looked doubtful still clinging to the book. "Um... Though it may not be very sturdy..." Since Alex was the one to witness Ryan's use of his first Sketchbook of Life, He no-doubt was fully aware of what Ryan meant by 'not sturdy cage.'

"Hey now!" Patrick suddenly stormed up to Alex and grabbed him by the ear. "Young man, I am very disappoint! Evan apologized! He knows he made a whoopsie! It's fine if you're upset, but don't go spitting in the face of a guy who didn't mean no harm!"
While Patrick defended him, Evan kept still and quiet. The water in his face just seemed to confuse him more than anything. He did at least nod when Alex talked about getting Swift back, but without her ring, there wasn't much they could do for her here and now. What was really on his mind was Alex's stubborn refusal to accept his apology. He didn't know what he was supposed to do about that. He knew he screwed up, and he had stated that he had fully intended to unlock Alex before Clockwork suddenly factored into the scenario. He just wanted to put that behind them somehow. Was it really just a matter of empathy? Would Alex really not warm up to him because he didn't know what it was like to be locked?

"OKAY!"
With absolutely no regard for consequences, Evan happily pulled the Paramount Key out of his shirt, jammed it into his own chest and turned it, locking his entire body where he stood.
"OH FRIG!"
"AAH!!!" Lagola stumbled back, horrified by the sight. "EVAN!!!"
"Oh, for goodness sake..." Kendall held a hand up to Evan, fast-forwarding the hour-long lockdown and freeing Evan from the key's hold within a matter of seconds.
Evan blinked and pulled the key out, once again just looking vacantly confused. "Oh, wow. That sucked."

"Didn't have to hole her up in there is all I'm saying..." Ace muttered under her breath, scratching her head beneath her hat.
She too jumped a foot or two back when Evan locked himself out of nowhere, her tension ebbing when Kendall instantly released him. "Dude, don't do that! Freakin' me out!" Ace then folded her arms, lowered her eyelids and shrugged at Alex. "You have to admit, the guy's going to great lengths to prove he likes you. Gotta appreciate that, at least."

Alex swatted the hand aside irritably. "I'M SORRY BUT HOW LONG HAS HE HAD THAT FUCKING THING??? IF HE'S HAD IT VERY LONG THEN I SHOULD ASSUME HE WOULD KNOW BETTER THEN TO USE IT ON THE PEOPLE HE'S CALLING HIS FRIENDS-" He wasn't able to say much of anything else at that moment when, suddenly Evan's voice rung out over his own. 'Fine'? Fine WHAT-?
He wasn't able to turn and shout out his question however when he saw Evan thrusting the key into himself and turning it, freezing himself in place... Alex... Actually had to admit, the desperation in the movement was about as stunning as it was exasperating... Of course, the feeling was SLIGHTLY cheapened when Kendall stepped in and fastforwarded Evan's time up until the key's effect wore off, allowing Evan to pull it out and regain time... Well... he could at least say that he got to feel what it felt like. He got to feel what Alex himself felt... He lets out a breath when he heard Ace offhandedly commented on Evan's dedication to earning that forgiveness. He did have to appreciate that...
That didn't make him any less stupid though...
"..... Yeah. It DOES suck." He shook his head. "So maybe next time you'll think twice about using it on someone that ISN'T trying to kill you. Because if I have to steal that key again, I can assure you, you are not going to be getting it back again for a VERY long time. Get the picture?"
