It was a quiet afternoon in Bonsai Village.
...........................
......................................................
.................................................................................
Too quiet.
...........................
......................................................
.................................................................................
In the calm of midday, with the sun shining brightly and warmly with nary a cloud in the sky, the villagers went about their business without incident. Whether it be selling their goods, tending to their gardens, grabbing a drink and a snack from the local tavern, or simply relaxing in their homes, it seemed like a perfectly uneventful day, a pleasant change of pace for such a chaotic realm.
There were oh so many ways that it could've gone wrong, yet strangely enough, the interruption to the village's tranquility didn't come with a big bang. It arrived serendipitously and rather nonchalantly in the form of a black speck noiselessly falling from the sky, a silent phenomenon up until it crashed into a patch of forest, flora cracking and shaking, birds screeching as they took flight in alarm.
One brief moment of commotion, then all was calm again.
...........................
......................................................
.................................................................................
Slowly, shakily, a hand rose out of a bush, fiercely clinging to the foliage for support as it hoisted the man it was attached to into an upright sitting position. He let out a soft grumble of discomfort, brushing his black locks out of his face before taking a moment to observe his surroundings.
Okay, so it seemed that he had landed in some sort of antiquated village, primitive but still displaying clear signs of a basic civilization. He supposed there were worse places he could've wound up. Someone here was bound to have enough common sense to tell him what was going on.
As he forced himself to stand, the man in the black and green armor looked to the sky, sternly but anxiously, his mind still reeling from the madness he had just been through. How long had he been drifting? What was he to do now? What was she up to back home? Where had... he landed?
He sighed. This was not how he expected this day to go...

The commotion is what had caught the attention of the pair.
"You sure it came from this direction, Pet?" commented an older voice as twigs were carelessly snapped.
"Yeah. And what have I said about calling me Pet?" commented a younger one. This one seemed more on edge than anything. "Not that you're going to listen to a lowly worm of a human like me."
"Not to but I love seeing you squirm when I call you that." The owner of the first voice towered over several trees in the forest, a tall and rather proud looking greenish bronze dragon was sweeping his head along to look for disturbances. The horns seemed to curve back into a false halo like form with a large ovaloid bauble hung between them with no effort on the part of the dragon. "Anything down there?"
"Other than the fact I'm thankful for your shadow, not- scratch that! We got a lost one!" shouted the second. The keeper a feminine figure in a black hooded coat with what seemed to be tight fitting black clothing underneath. Bits of purplish toned hair stuck out from under the hood. The smaller making a beeline for the newcomer.

"Stuff fallin' from the sky, monsters lurking about, innocent bystanders at the mercy of the strange cosmic phenomenon of the week... Just another day on beautiful Dimensional Island!"
That declaration, spoken with plenty of sass but without even a trace of sarcasm, chimed for exactly no one to hear as the voice's owner soared above Bonsai Village on her jet boats, eager to investigate the object she had just witnessed crashing onto the island. The sight itself was nothing new, but nine times out of ten, it was a precursor to something new, some strange person or discarded object that had been drawn to the island's gravity, waiting to be recovered, and Elsa wanted to be there when it was.
As she approached the forest, she quickly took note of the dragon lurking amongst the trees. It was kind of hard not to notice the big guy, after all. Seemed he was curious about the new arrival too. She could deal with that. Given the nature of investigating the unknown, she was well and truly prepared for any sort of funny business.
"Helloooooooooo, nerds!" Elsa cheerfully hollered as she slowed to a halt, hovering several dozen feet above the ground for a moment before deactivating her jets and gracefully dropping to the forest floor next to the young woman accompanying the dragon. Once she was on her feet, she anxiously rubbed her hands together and cast a wild smirk at the impact sight of the unknown figure like a treasure hunter greedily inspecting her find. "SO, what do we have here today?!"

The man in the armor turned around, watching with a deadpan glower and an air of skepticism as he was approached by a rather odd group. The first thing he noticed, rather obviously, was the dragon. Seeing this enormous beast lumber towards him hardly seemed to faze him. If anything, he just looked annoyed by the dragon's presence. He then turned his attention on the human-looking woman in the black coat, questioning why such a tiny thing would arrive in the company of this creature. Soon enough, she was joined by another woman with striking, sparkling skin, who had dropped down from above after flying in on some sort of propulsion system.
As the figures moved in to examine him, the tall, armored man silently stood his ground, firm, unflinching, chin held high in defiance of anything they might be planning. He saw no sense in causing any trouble while he still had no idea where he was or what he was up against, but if trouble did rear its ugly head, he would be ready to dish some back twofold.

"Need some help into Bonsai Village, stranger?" the hooded woman offered. "I'm sure Bolas could give us a lift."
The dragon huffed. "My charge will certainly be walking if she continues to think along those lines."
"Says the dragon who can't navigate the streets without an insider."
Another huff.
"Forgive Bolas. He's been stuck on this world for a while and I think it's finally getting to him," the woman offered before lowering her hood. Pale skin and dark blue eyes seemed to cling to her figure. "Names Artemis. Big guy is Nicol Bolas and I have no clue on Sparkles over here...."

"Well, that's racist," Elsa chuckled, though it was clear from her playful tone that she wasn't actually offended.
She stepped forward and grinned at the newcomer, hands on her hips and head slightly tilted as she casually took him in. Intricate armor that seemed to hint that he was from a noble, mystical warrior race. Long black hair and cold eyes that gave the impression that he was trouble. An air of dominance, coupled with a silent threat not to screw with him. Clearly this guy meant business. This could be fun.
"Call me Elsa. Welcome to the island, bucko. Who might you be?"

The man looked between the purple-haired girl, the diamond-skinned girl, and the dragon looming over both of them, remaining completely indifferent to them all. For one, the village was just ahead; he didn't exactly need help finding it, and he was by no means keen on the idea of riding this brute there or anywhere. Moreover, the women's casual tones on this matter were not helping his already sour mood. To be fair, he'd probably be even more annoyed if they had panicked at his arrival, but something about the lackadaisical nature of this first meeting was just irritating him.
He may have been unpredictable himself, but all these unforeseen circumstances within the span of one day were admittedly wearing him down.
Still... might as well see how useful these three could be...
"Thank you for the offer," he grunted in his smooth, British baritone as he coolly brushed a leaf off his jacket. He then straightened back up, boldly and dignified. "I am Loki of Asgard, and I..." He hesitated, then he let out a long, disgruntled sigh. "...have had a very long day, so it would do you well not to add to my increasing list of grievances. Perhaps you could start by telling me what realm this is."

Artemis blinked. Bolas raised an eyebrow as his charge spoke. "Welcome to Nexus Island. We're in the middle of the multiverse.... Though it seems to be like a bit of all nine realms... I'm going to go over there for a few seconds... Never thought I would meet one of the cooler deities from legends..." she offered before pointing to one of Bolas' feet. She soon moved to sit on one of the claws.

"Loki, huh?" Elsa tapped her chin, eyes narrowed as she studied the Asgardian. "Feel like I've heard that name somewhere before, but I can't remember off the top of my head. That tends to happen when all your friends are huge nerds..."
Deciding not to dwell on that and to simply get to know this guy up front, Elsa shrugged, stuck her hands in her pockets and asked, "So, what brings ya here, Loki? Just passing through or a cosmic accident?"

In all fairness, Loki wasn't particularly surprised to hear that these people recognized him, if only by name in Elsa's case. What did surprise him was the fact that none of them reacted to the reveal of his identity with hostility. He was so used to being antagonized and mistrusted everywhere he went, but Elsa was being particularly laid-back with him and Artemis even described him as "cool." It was a little strange.
Not that he was complaining. If anything, this was a very welcomed change.
While Artemis stepped away, Loki turned to Elsa with folded arms and a calm, calculating expression, pausing to decide how much he should tell her. "My presence here is by accident, I can tell you that much... though I suppose serendipity has its perks. Prior to my arrival, I had been cast out of my home and pursued by a sorceress of immense power and strength. I barely managed to escape with my life, but it the process, I was ejected into the void."
He looked to the sky, a glint of curiosity in his eyes. "You say that this realm is at the center of all realms. If this is true, then this could be an ideal location to start over."

"My charge is on her new start as well," Bolas offered before shifting into a smaller more humanoid form. His eyes were still much like that of a dragon's and he still had his horns on a smaller scale and Artemis now seated on his boot. "Artemis."
"Fine," she commented before getting up. "Kinda new start. But yeah. The village is a good place to just relax and gather your thoughts. Boss here thought a portal opened to let him get off the world, guess not."
"I had schemes to finish!" Bolas commented.

"Yeah, I'd say that's an appropriate decision," Elsa mused. "Plenty to do around here if ya got nowhere else to go. If you wanna head somewhere new, there's a travel station that can take you to just about any known universe out there. Either way, a fresh start awaits ya..."
She twiddled her fingers together, casting Loki a playful smirk. "...as well as multitudinous opportunities to get zany."
Then she shrugged and started a casual stroll towards the village. "But hey, ya gotta start somewhere, so why don't we start with a drink?"

So the dragon had motives to escape this place. Interesting. He'd have to bear that in mind if he came to the decision to leave for another realm, which apparently he could do with ease, but it couldn't hurt to explore first and figure out what exactly this island had to offer. Loki needed a plan, after all. He had no intention to wander aimlessly.
As he pondered this, Loki turned and shot Elsa a curious expression. "Excuse me, a drink...?" It was clear from his tone, calm as it was, that he was simply confused by the offer and how... out of place it seemed in this scenario. Then again, the more he thought about it, the more he realized that given the sort of gravity this realm undoubtedly possessed, spontaneous new arrivals must've been common enough not to warrant a great deal of alarm. Which, again, was very welcome.
If they were so willing to trust him, then after everything Loki had been through, a drink started to sound like the best idea anyone could've suggested. "Fair enough. I could go for a drink. Lead the way, Miss Elsa."

"Do you mind us joining you two?" Artemis asked. "I know of a rather nice tea house near by."
"I'd rather find a decent wine personally," Bolas offered.
Artemis rolled her eyes. "They might have sake."

"Right on!" Elsa shot the group two thumbs up, then faced forward again, hair whipping and shimmering as she turned, and continued to march towards the Tiny Dragon. "Time to get smashed and kick a**! And I'm all out of a**!"
She might not have been too sure who any of these people were, but she was willing to meet them halfway and see where they ended up. Whatever happened along the way was bound to be interesting if nothing else.
