As Ranuen sat on Kelsey's head he heard her begin conversing with.... someone? Sounded like a one-sided conversation to him. But they were landing shortly, so Ranuen braced himself. I'm not fully recovered from all the shit today... He thought to himself. But I've recovered a bit, at least. Maybe fifteen, twenty minutes worth of fighting time? He considered, mentally gauging his reserves. Eh. It'd do. For now, he'd have to study the gigantic monster in the center of the plaze.
"Have we got a game plan!?" He asked aloud as Kelsey prepared for her descent. "Are we going to fight that thing, just grab Percy and run? What's the deal here!?" Then Ranuen heard a gunshot ring out, and glanced in the direction of the source. "....Is that.... that's...." While he could hardly suggest that EVERY dragon had to be the one they'd discussed back at Paul's apartment.... "Isn't that crazy crowbar!?" Ranuen exclaimed. And in the other talon that's.... Ranuen groaned. "Sonnuva...."
-----
Seeker had readied his gun, and Alaric had readied his own. "On your mark." He agreed, levelling the barrel of his magnum. Seeker was aiming at the beast's eye. Alaric was testing a different theory and actually aimed for the monster's slobbering mouth. And then not even a fraction of a second after Seeker let loose his bullet, Alaric pulled the trigger, sending a bullet hurtling towards the fleshy (and hopefully vulnerable) interior of the creature's jaw. He wasn't as keen a sharpshooter as Val or Seeker, but Alaric was still pretty good, having trained his firearm skills on supernaturally quick vampires and pegging them through the heart. He'd at least get the bullet in the rough vicinity of where he was aiming, even if 100% precision was beyond him.
And then they were off into the skies, flying by a woman and her partner. Who is that then? Alaric wondered but felt it better to leave it be. For now. He was sure Seeker could handle introductions later. He wasn't a fan of flying like this, but hell. Looking at the beast they'd just shot at, it was probably better than being at ground level!

"Simple," Kelsey coolly stated as she touched down in an alleyway, setting Paul down on his feet and offering a hand for Ranuen to climb into. "I'm gonna go distract the fuzzball over there, maybe see what kind of damage I can do, while you guys take care of the slimers."
"What?!" Paul yelped, shooting Kelsey a double-take. "You're gonna face off against that thing alone?"
"No. There are other guys squaring off against it. See?"
Kelsey pointed up a little ways, directing Paul's attention towards the purple wyvern that had taken flight shortly after they had landed. The sight of the dragon caused Paul's jaw to drop. Sure, he remembered Percy and William discussing this Flint character. Sure, he had met one or two draconic folks in the past. But this was the closest the blue dragon man himself had ever been to a true dragon. It was... intimidating. He wished there was some other word he could use to describe the image before him, but all he felt was intimidated.
Shaking that thought out of his head, Paul accepted Ranuen from Kelsey and continued, "B-But... are you sure you can handle it? I'm not even sure if anyone in our party knows what we're up against."
"Paul, it's okay." Kelsey gently smiled back at him. "I've been face-to-face with demons the likes of which would make the bravest of men s*** the bed on a nightly basis. Heck, I work for one such demon. Dealing with this little guy will be a cakewalk."
"You're sure about that."
"Sure I'm sure."
"Well... What do you want me to do about these slime things?"
"Uh... Kill 'em, I guess. You can handle that, right?"
"Uhhhhhhhhhh..."
"C'mon! Get a move on, kiddo!" Tri insisted, giving Kelsey a slight nudge out into the open. "Let's have some fun already!"
After letting out a blunt sigh, Kelsey turned and cast an apologetic look at her date. "Sorry, Paul! I-If all else fails, maybe you oughta find Percy! Haven't seen him since we left your place! Just stay safe, okay?!"
As Kelsey flew off, giving him a quick, departing wave along the way, Paul tried to choke up a response, eventually settling on a weak "You too" long after she was out of earshot.
Eyes ahead, Kelsey swooped above the rampaging monster, a pitch black aura surrounding her form. She raised a hand, and from that aura, she extended a shadowy tendril, wrapping it around the beast's wing. "Alright, Drogon! Mommy says you need a time out!"
---------------------------
As the chaos unfolded down below, a figure clad in a white dress shirt, adorned with feathery white wings, watched the proceedings from a faraway rooftop with a look of sadness. This moment had greatly concerned him for quite some time, and witnessing it in person was wholly unpleasant. But the things that were about to take place... the choices that would be made... the damage that would be dealt not just to the island, but to reality itself...
He didn't like watching this... but he knew he had to be here. He always knew it.
"............"
The angel sighed. Saying this wouldn't make a difference, but far be it from him to display any sort of apathy. "You shouldn't be here."
"My friend's down there," the raspy voice, clearly that of a child, replied behind him. "I couldn't leave him to deal with this madness alone. Now that I know that something terrible is afoot, who am I to stand aside and just let it happen?"
"A fair point..." He wished he could agree with that sentiment. Or at the very least, not feel so horrible about it.

The beast roared at the new challenger, exhaling more of its grey mist breath. Its pupils were little more than specks against its mismatched eyes, claws digging deep holes into the plaza floor. Aiming its grey breath at the new arrival, it sound the target just barely out of reach. With a deep sound that was likely annoyance, it roared indignantly as Kelsey snared one of its wings in a dark tendril. It raised a claw, only to find that its brute strength was useless against the grip.
In-between its horns, a pink light formed, and crashed into the annoyance with the force of a sledge hammer. The blow forced her to loosen the tendril's grip, and it immediately took to the sky, chasing after the purple wyvern, a purple sphere charging between its horns.
---
"Evasive maneuvers, NOW!" Seeker commanded Flint with uncharacteristic panic, having relocated themself, Val, and Alaric to the wyvern's back, and recalling the minimal effect the bullets had on the monster.
"YOU'RE panicking and yet you want me to remain calm enough to do that?! That's a wicked tall order!!" Flint shouted back without turning back, although his keen hearing put their pursuer not that far behind.
"Fire didn't work- Maybe this will!" Somehow keeping a cool head in this situation, Val aimed her gun at the grey beast, targeting the same eye she had shot at earlier.
BANG. Their pursuer seemed to recoil a bit, more of the sickly grey-green substance leaking from the eye. "Non-elemental works."
"Hang on tight, I'm gonna get while we have the chance!" Tucking in his legs and streamlining his body the best he could, Flint made way towards a section of tall buildings that surely, the grey thing could not move effectively in.
And then the ball of dark energy struck Flint, purple sparks dancing across his body before Seeker could trigger an anti-magic field around them, although the damage had already been done. The wyvern was steadily losing altitude.
Seeker seemed the most damaged after Flint, a few stray sparks still on the eyepatched individual even after the field was up. "D-Damn.. such power... or is it just that I've forgotten how it feels...?"
Val inhaled and exhaled, seeming shaken herself. "How... annoying... Why the hell do I feel turned on?"
Even in pain, Flint managed to turn his head around to face his sister. "You have... ugh... some weird ass fucking tastes... Gonna... either revert or crash... get ready for an emergency landing..."
As they neared ground level, there was a poof of smoke, and the wyvern vanished.
---
"Oh shit, oh shit, OH SHIT!"
William was making distance between himself and the creature. Funny how fear can make a person travel so fast. He winced as he heard the sound of something crash a few blocks down; it sounded heavy, no matter what it was.
"Okay, I'm safe. I can breathe easy. I can clear my mind and HO BACK OFF I'M ARMED!"
Panicking, the blonde man found himself pointing his blade at several decidedly not-dangerous-to-him individuals.

A distinctive click of a safety being turned off and a cocking gun was heard. "Yes you are but there are more pressing matters at hand," offered a rather annoyed and unamused voice as she looked to the boy before shooting several times at a pair of green slimes. "Now who the fricking crap are you?"

Paul wasn't the only one taken aback by Kelsey's reckless decision. Although rather than the likely concern Paul was feeling, Ranuen was impressed, not merely worried. "Heh. You've done alright." Ranuen commented to Paul as Kelsey engaged the monster. "You said you weren't a fighter right?" Ranuen hopped free of Paul and returned to normal height. "So leave the mooks to me. You work on finding out where Percy is. I'll keep an eye out for her, and I'll get involved if she looks like she's in any real danger." He assured the man, approaching the slimes without drawing his sword. Magic was coursing through his veins again, and Ranuen grinned eagerly.
"I've been able to rest up thanks to you guys. Not as long as I might have wanted, but I should be able to fight for fifteen or twenty minutes. Should be good enough time for you, right?" He suggested, then took a fighting stance against the slimes.
Ranuen hadn't drawn his weapon. Against slimes that could prove to be relatively useless. Slicing and cutting weapons.... they'd probably just regenerate. Blunt force trauma on the other hand.... while going after these things bare handed could be dangerous, Ranuen wasn't worried, and the swordsman, launched himself forwards with magically enhanced speed and strength to start containing the slimes to the plaza. He was a blur of motion, as he flickered from one side of the plaza to the other in an instant, and engaged the enemy.
"ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA!" Ranuen let loose a raging warcry as his arms turned into a veritable machinegun of blows, while Ranuen strafed around the plaza, blasting back slimes with dozens of heavy impacts. Even if the slimes had some manner of absorbent quality that would try to consume Ranuen's arms, it wouldn't help. The speed and power of his attacks would keep his arms safe for now.
-----
Even though Alaric was on Flint's back now, the wild motions of the wyvern were a real challenge for him to get the hang of. Keeping his balance atop the moving beast was not something he'd ever had experience with. And evasive maneuvers were just going to make it worse. Forget following up his original shot with additional attacks, it was all Alaric could do to keep his balance right now. He knew he'd adjust, but for the moment, he acknowledged he was deadweight. ....Or was he? If I can't aim properly, then..... Using his hand clutching his gun, Alaric returned the weapon to the inside of his jacket, and withdrew a small oval-shaped object.
Before he had a chance to use it, Val got her shot in. Alaric was impressed. "You're an excellent shot." He complimented, an instant before flinging the oval shaped object down at the beast's head as well. His aim was nowhere near as good as Val's especially atop of a wildly flying lizard, but he could get close enough. Down below, the flashbang, blasted apart in a dazzling flash of blinding light and deafening sound not far from the Beast's head. If it had sensitive eyes and hearing, this would definitely disorient and hurt it for awhile. Either way, without the ability to take careful aim, this was the best Alaric could do at the moment.
And probably all he was going to do after the pulse of dark energy struck Flint out of the sky. Alaric lurched, and it was all he could do not to fall off of Flint at that moment. Flint had taken some damage as well, and even Alaric had suffered some burns to his left arm. "It's not just you, Seeker. That was quite an attack. Flint? How are you do--" Then Flint gave his warning and Alaric braced for impact. He was grateful for the warning, because when Flint vanished, Alaric was ready.
Training or no training, a fall from that height sucked for Alaric, lacking any kind of magical or superhuman defenses to it. But he was able to roll as he hit the ground, absorbing the brunt of the impact, albeit with a gasp of pain. There were gonna be a lot of bruises there. Pushing himself, the man began to find his footing. "S-status everyone?" He asked, slowly staggering to his feet, momentarily dazed and blind to what was going on around him.

Kelsey let out a hard grunt when the beast's blast of pink magic slammed into her point-blank, her shadow tendril retreating back into her aura as she tumbled in midair. She quickly regained enough balance to float down to the nearest streetlight and perch atop it, where she watched as the creature took flight in pursuit of the wyvern.
Opting to take advantage of its distraction, Kelsey turned to the astral projection hovering next to her. "Alright. I'm open for suggestions."
To her great relief, Tri's first response was a cooperative one. "Well, the chick with the guns that your new buddy is hard for tried using fire. Didn't help much."
"Right, so fire is out... Shoot, that's my best offense too."
"A little brute strength probably wouldn't hurt. You, anyway. Probably would hurt this little guy a whole lot."
Kelsey nervously gritted her teeth, not exactly comfortable with that prospect. If she was going to waste time just kicking this monster around, she at least wanted to be certain it would be effective. "Will that be enough to kill it?"
"Probably not, but you could always bait yourself and feed it some acid."
"Ugh..."
"Or, y'know, let it kill some folks and then eat their souls so you could acquire some stronger, better powers!"
After shooting a hard scowl at her master, Kelsey spread her wings again, figuring she had procrastinated long enough. "I'll think about it." Then she took flight again, speeding after the beast.
She watched as Val shot the creature in the eye and Alaric subsequently disoriented it with a blast of light and sound, the latter potent enough to even make Kelsey's ears hurt from a distance. Shortly thereafter, the struck Flint with another magical attack, sending the wyvern and his passengers on a slow descent. Kelsey looked between them and the beast, finding it still flummoxed and recovering from its most recent wounds.
Sensing her opportunity, Kelsey shot straight up into the sky, rapidly ascending until the monster was the size of a quarter in her eye. Then, situated directly above it, she arced downward and began a dive bomb, quickly reaching such an intense velocity that she soon became little more than a whistling blur to anyone watching. At the last second, she turned herself upright so that she slammed into the beast feet-first, kicking it to the ground so powerfully that it left a devastating impact in the asphalt.
Flipping away and landing on her feet, albeit with a slight, graceless stumble, Kelsey powered up her shadow aura again, standing there in a firm, dangerous stance. The moment the beast got back up, she wrapped a shadow tendril around its neck, swung around and landed on its back, tightening the shadow's hold, gripping it with both hands.
"I suppose a 'yee-haw' would be a little corny, BUT WHATEVER, LET'S DO THIS, BIG BOY."
---------------------------
Paul was panting as he watched the commotion unfold in front of and above him, doing everything in his power not to panic for Kelsey's sake. He turned to Ranuen as the swordsman assumed a natural height and offered to cover the slime creatures for him, on top of keeping an eye out for Kelsey. Knowing Ranuen, he could handle it; Paul didn't doubt that.
Checking his surroundings again, this time with a much calmer expression, Paul considered what he had been asked to do. Finding Percy sounded simple enough, hopefully. And while things were absolute chaos out there and he was ill equipped for combat, Paul was at least more than capable of natural self-defense. How much damage could these little things do to him?
With a look of determination, finally confident that he could be of at least some use here, Paul turned to Ranuen and gave him a nod. "Right. Thanks, man."
The two charged off in opposite directions. While Ranuen began a devastating round of physical attacks against the slimes, Paul raced into the center of the Plaza, eyes peeled for any signs of Percy, screeching to a halt every couple of seconds to inspect the immediate area before leaping back into a sprint. So far, he was having trouble finding even the tiniest hints that Percy was there, and Paul's mind quickly started racing with concerns. Where was he? What was he up to? Was he hurt? Was he seeing any of this? Did he just bolt on them? He wanted to believe the latter wasn't the case, but by that point, he really couldn't rule anything out.
"PERCY! PERCY!!! DUDE, WHERE ARE- WHOA!!!"
Paul stumbled back, maintaining his footing after nearly tripping over a hole in the ground. A hole that, he noted as he caught his breath, couldn't have been naturally occurring. Sure, it was small, but it was also clearly very deep. Maybe a smile creature had burrowed into the earth? Maybe... someone was hiding down there?
"......?"
Something... smelled familiar around here.
---------------------------
The group riding on the wyvern's back tumbled to the ground when he was forcibly reverted to human form. Slowly but surely, they picked themselves up after their hard fall.
As they did, after quickly checking up on each other, they became aware of a newly arrived fifth party member...
A boy was standing a few yards away from them, staring up at them with a look of scrutiny and grit, dressed in a makeshift superhero outfit: a lavender shirt with a green M, a hooded purple cape with a green question mark poking out of the top, a black mask, brown boots, a pair of tighty-whities worn outside his matching pants...
"Well..." the boy spoke up in his raspy, prepubescent voice, taking a good, hard look at the motley crew before him and the general chaos occurring around them. "Looks like you guys are in some deep s***."

The beast let out a pained sound as Alaric's weapon exploded near its head, releasing a display of light and sound. Blinded and deafened, it did not pick up any signs of its attack hitting the flying annoyance. An almost pitiful noise escaped the sensory-deprived monster, as it could no longer detect its targets, or anything above it.
Its sense of touch was still unharmed, however, as it felt Kelsey's feet slam into it, sending the monster into a downward trajectory with the pavement below, skidding and leaving a sizable impact. It slowly got to its feet, its hearing and sight slowly starting to recover after the blast. However, they recovered too slow, as shadowy tendrils ensnared its neck, and something was on its back now...
It let out a thundering roar of annoyance, rearing up on its hind legs and bucking, trying to get this insect off its back.
---
"Uh..." William lowered his sword as the girl before him shot the green slimes. "Nice shot... I'm William Lowe, and hey wait weren't you at the bar earlier??" Taking advantage of the opening Artemis's shots had created, he charged past the first two slimes and sliced a third one, as green as the other two. Its body was split in half, and a strange sound came from the fallen slimes.
"By any chance, do you know anything about these? Because I certainly don't. Also, have you seen a skinny kid with messy brown hair and purple eyes?"
---
"Ha... ah... I'm getting old..." There was a distinct cracking sound as Seeker slowly got to their feet, rubbing their back. "I'm not made of what I used to be... Val, Flint, Alaric, how are you holding up?" The eyepatched individual seemed genuinely concerned.
Val was using her gun to support herself to her feet, grateful that she had it made in a cane shape. Impact wounds covered her chest and thighs, cape slightly torn and a few cracks in her armoured parts. "I need to find a blacksmith and a tailor after this if we live... And I need some ointment..."
A new gash covered Flint's exposed torso, revealed as the half-dragon slowly got to his feet. "Shit, this is gonna be permanent if we don't heal it soon. I wanna look rugged, not deformed, dammit!" His breathing seemed laboured. "Damn thing knocked most of my juice out. Sorry, guys, but I can't fight like this... Those are human weapons for humans only."
"You do realize you're half human, just like me, correct?"
"You know what I mean, sis."
"Quit arguing, you two," Seeker commanded. "We have... company." The eyepatched individual raised an eyebrow at the strangely-dressed child.
"... Well. I thought Flint dressed ridiculously." Val responded, not sure what to make of this new arrival. "Should I shoot it?"
"No. And no, Flint. You cannot eat our guest either."
Huff. Whine.

"Yes I was. It's my night off from my boss. Artemis Faire," the woman offered as she looked around, "And clearly we're outnumbered. As to what the flying dragon scat is going on- I have not the slightest idea. As for that friend of yours- I haven't. I know Greens can be shot but not sure about these other colors. And I'm on limited ammo at the moment until I find an armory. Heck that was the reason I came to the plaza."

Alaric dimly heard Seeker asking if everyone was alright, and gave a slow groan of affirmation. "I'm fine. A bit bruised up, but I don't think anything is broken." He told the man. He glanced at Flint. "Thanks to a certain someone's warning. I appreciate that, it could have been bad if you hadn't given the heads up." And Alaric meant that completely sincerely. Flint had saved his bacon with that warning. But now... Now.... Flint mentioned he was out of the fight and Alaric shrugged it off. "If you say so. You've done your part anyways. Besides it looks like the cavalry's arrived last I saw." He stated, referring to the newcomers who'd attacked the beast.
That left the newcomer. Alaric watched the boy hesitantly. Was this kid some wannabe superhero? "It's not safe here, boy." Alaric stated. "You might want to get out of here now." He urged, taking a glance back to see if he could see any details of how the battle was progressing.
------
Ranuen seemed to be doing well at containing the slimes, but he had not stopped for a moment, focusing on Kelsey's fight as well. He told Paul he'd look out for her, and he intended to keep that promise. He might not be able to protect her from getting any scrapes a bruises, considering that.... thing she was fighting. But he could get in there if it looked too dangerous. "Hell of a kick there!" Ranuen complimented Kelsey as he delivered a powerful kick to send a slime hurtling back toward the center of the square. He was starting to corral them further in. He wagered if he could get them all close enough together he could take them out with one shot. At full power, Ranuen could generate an inferno that could have covered at least a city block, but he was not at full power, and an attack like that probably would wipe him considerably. Besides they were in a habitable area, and setting the nearby buildings on fire could upset quite a few people.
Still, Ranuen was intensifying his attack. His fists now ignited the air as he punched, flaming blows driving back any slime he could get near. He decided to add his fuel to the fight with the beast as well. A distraction, nothing more. As Ranuen delivered a spinning kick to another slime, he drove a fist in the direction of the monster, launching a forceful, and colossal plume of flame that greedily devoured the space between Ranuen and the goliath. A plume of flame the size of a pickup truck that is, and packing at least as much force. While he doubted that'd kill the beast, or even cause it significant damage, if that kick from Kelsey only annoyed it, it'd at least be a distraction, splitting its focus and confusing it further. Giving Kelsey more openings to exploit and hopefully lessening the threat to her, in its wild thrashing.

"Not safe?" Mysterion questioned harshly. "What is safe on this island? 'Cause lemme tell ya, I've explored this place pretty thoroughly, and it seems to me like just about every other minute, something's trying to kill you here. I'm not scared of this thing. I've looked greater monsters in the eye without breaking a sweat. I've faced death more times than I can count. More times than I honestly want to. If you think I'm gonna go running home to mommy just 'cause this bastard's throwing a tantrum, you got another thing coming."
He turned around and shrouded himself with his cape, casting a determined glare into the distance. "My friend is here somewhere. I'm not leaving without him. And I'm gonna do whatever I can to make sure I leave with him in one piece."
---------------------------
As the beast began to thrash and buck, Kelsey held on tightly, her shadows and her legs still firmly wrapped around its neck. She tugged on the tendrils one at a time, shaking its head back and forth at a dizzying rate. After a few prolonged seconds of this deranged rodeo show, Tri appeared on the creature's back behind Kelsey and casually asked, "Sooooo what was the plan here?"
"SHUT UP, I'M WORKING ON IT!"
"Working on your plan or working on coming up with a plan?"
"BITE ME, SQUIDWARD!"

The beast felt its head jerked in many uncomfortable ways as Kelsey yanked on the tendrils that bound it. It tried to roar and buck the annoyance off, to no avail. Its low growls became a constant mumble, before its jaw tore open the tendrils that muzzled it shut. Its senses were returning, and despite the constant jerks on its head distorting its sight, it could see the world again.
With a loud roar, it turned to face the annoyance on its back, a swirl of multicoloured energy forming in its gaping maw. Stardust Crusher. Within seconds, its attack had charged, and it fired the powerful attack at Kelsey before the pitiful thing could react, the impact releasing it from the tendrils as it reared up, tossing the annoyance from its back. It charged in the direction of the fire spell that Raunen had launched at it, only slightly slowed down by the fire. It lowered its neck, intent on goring the caster upon its horns.
A wall of earth rose out of the ground, and the beast failed to stop in time, colliding with the soft earth, its horns stuck in, temporarily stunned. Its roars could be heard from some distance as it tried to free itself. A hand made of earthy materials caught Kelsey as she flew through the air after the beast had tossed her off it, although the stones within the hand lead some debate as to whether or not it was exactly comfortable. The creator of both of these constructs glided down, forming a silvery bow out of apparently thin air as it landed close to Paul.
"You ain't gonna find nothing but a gauntlet or two there, buddy."
---
"Oh, geeze. That thing sounds terrifying from here alone." William said, trying to hide his obvious fear, delivering a slice to a green slime. "Please tell me it's going to die soon. Or at least go away. I'll fight slimes and humans any day. That thing? Uh. No."
---
"... If he dies, it's his own damn fault," Val said, sighing. "What I would give to be younger and have a head full of wool."
"I wouldn't. So, what's the course of action now? Flee?" Flint said after giving his sister an odd look. "I'd say our odds of a foot getaway are pretty good now. Hell, we might even be able to take advantage of this chaos and loot a few stores."
"We leave. If it isn't nailed down or in a shop, take it." Seeker said, looking around the corner to ensure there was a safe way out. But, just out of the corner of their eye, they spotted...
There was the distinct sound of a gun locking in place. "On second thought, we need to- UNHAND ME!"
To prevent Seeker from blindly charging after Lark, Flint had grabbed Seeker by their free arm, trying to drag the eyepatched one back. The half-dragon turned his head to the other two present. "A little help here?!"
"Don't look at me."

Well that had definitely gotten the Beast's attention! ....Ranuen grinned as he saw it barreling towards him. Perfect. He thought as he positioned himself in front of the slimes he'd been herding into the center of the plaza. Gotta time this just right.... But before Ranuen had a chance to even get out of the way, an earthen hand stopped the attack in its path. "...Huh." He mused, as the attack came up short. "Damn. Guess I gotta do this myself then."
Ranuen spun around and delivered a cut of his sword, which blossomed into a pillar of fire that light up the night sky, in an attempt to ignite and burn away most of the slimes gathered in the center. "Now back to the problem at hand who was that!? Kelsey was that your doing?" He asked, regarding the attack, before seeing the source. "Oh no, it's you again." Ranuen muttered.
----
Alaric's eyes narrowed at the kid. "...Fair point, but that's not reason to seek out trouble." He argued. Val brought up the simple comment that Alaric sadly sympathized with. "You're probably right, but it would leave something of a bad taste in my mouth to let him go and die for it." He answered. He was then rather interrupted by Seeker and Flint's freakout. He glanced into the plaza to see what was going on. "...Oh. Yes, I see." He looked at Flint. "Hmm. Is there a reason we should stop him? It would certainly create more of a distraction for you, we just have to make sure he doesn't get himself killed."

The moment the beast looked over its shoulder at her, the air around it thick as magic coursed through it, Kelsey had a feeling she knew what was coming.
"S*** S*** S*** S***...!!!" She tried to yank its head forward again, but she had barely had time to give her tendrils so much as tug before she was hit with the full force of the colorful light the creature fired from its mouth. The shadows quickly dissipated as Kelsey was propelled off of its back and high into the air, limply flopping back as she drifted into a freefall.
Despite her daze, her mind ordered her body to turn upright. To spread her wings and glide to safety. Her body did not comply, remaining in a weary, limp descent, falling in what felt like slow-motion, her skin reddened slightly as if burned by the magical light. All Kelsey could do was crane her neck to face the projection of her master as he mimicked her involuntary crash position, albeit with a snarky smirk and a mocking showtune...
"When you're falling in a forest And there's nobody around Do you ever really crash Or even make a sound?"
Eventually Kelsey mustered a little energy. Just enough to flip Tri off, but no more.
When she finally landed, she did so within the grasp of what appeared to be a hand made of the earth beneath her. With the world around her moving at its normal pace again, Kelsey let out a soft yet sharp whine, reaching under her to rub the shoulder she had landed on. Tender and sore, but at least more aware of her surroundings now, Kelsey wriggled free of the stones' grip with minimal effort and shakily sat up. "You know... if your goal was a soft landing, I think rocks are kinda counter-f***ing-productive!"
"Maybe, but they are useful as another brick in the wall," Tri mused, directing Kelsey's attention to the monster now trapped by its horns in a wall of stone.
Kelsey blinked at the sight, confused but nonetheless intrigued. "Okay, not sure who's responsible for this... but hell, I'll take it."
Now that she had calmed down significantly, Kelsey found that she had a much easier time thinking clearly, allowing her to come up with a course of action fairly quickly. After snapping a few joints back into place, she shot to her feet and cautiously approached the flailing beast, once again summoning tendrils from the darkness to restrain it further. Using one hand to maintain the shadows' grip, drenching her other hand in a coating of acid slime, she climbed onto its back again and set her sights on the back of its head...

Paul flinched slightly as he whipped around to face the new arrival, finding himself immediately struck with a multitude of emotions. Mostly relief, confusion, worry, discomfort, and a whole lot of WTF. "Oh, hey, Lark..."
He looked down into the hole in the ground, then back up at his company. From there, his eyes flicked between Lark and Kelsey as she seemed to reach for the base of the monster's skull. "Uh... Gauntlet? W-What do you mean? Do you know where Percy is?"
---------------------------
"Wool?" Mysterion questioned, narrowing his eyes at Val. "Troubled childhood, I'm guessing?"
Then he nodded to Alaric. "Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself. If I were you, I'd worry about getting myself outta here with the right people in tow."
With that said, the caped preadolescent charged off into the nearest alleyway. From there, he bounced off a trashcan, shimmied up a pipe, leaped onto the rooftop and resumed his search, scanning the plaza for even the tiniest specks of blue. Okay, if I were a six-foot dragon man with no combat experience and higher defense stats than offense, where would I be?
Anxious as he was to find Paul, he remained wary of Paul finding him. If that monster didn't kill Mysterion, Paul probably would if he knew he was here.
Wait... Was that him? Definitely looked like Paul. What was with the hole behind him? Who was the freaky guy next to him?

Whistling, Flint dragged Seeker away from the scene to the best of his ability. "Chill! M-Maybe he'll be so badly wounded that we can jump him after this mess is settled!" The angry sounds coming from the eyepatched individual indicated that they had no intentions of listening to Flint. "I know he's there, but c'mon, man! We need to cut our losses and leave while that damn thing is preoccupied! The snow-haired bastard always seems to show up anyways!"
"Let me go, or start praying to the old gods..." Although talking normally again, Seeker clearly still wanted at Lark. Flint sighed, and turned to look at his companions.
"You SURE you can't h- Oh, wait. It's just you. I see how it is, sis..." The half-dragon mumbled noting the sudden disappearance of Val. He groaned. "Listen, trusted meatbag, I could use some help here. I'm getting some power back, but I can't transform until we're in the clear."
---
"I was afraid you were gonna say that," William said, trying and failing to hide the anxiety in his voice. "Hey! It looks like most of them are all rounded up! Is he gonna set them on f-"
And then the thing roared, tossing Kelsey off its back after blasting her with some powerful magic. As the girl flew through the air, he mumbled nervously. "Oh, shoot. This is bad. This is very..." And then the earthen wall and hand materialized, trapping the beast and catching Kelsey. "... Not as bad?" He took in the constructs, realizing...
"Oh, it's probably Leanne's batshit teacher. That guy scares me."
---
"'Sup, Paul, Raunen?" Lark asked in a casual manner, even as he drew a bowstring and arrow, composed of a silver energy. "So, did anybody miss me? I was only gone for a few hours. Had to wrangle some help in..." He winked. "You'll see in a few minutes. I'm sure she'll be effective, but you and your buddy ain't got nothin' to worry about with both of us around."
There was a deafening roar from the beast as Kelsey's acid-covered hand burned into the back of its skull. Even with its mane blocking some of the attack, it felt pain. It thrashed in agony as her hand burned deeper into its skull, freeing its trapped horns in the process. Although its magic stores had been drained, there was still one attack...
It whipped its head around, forcing Kelsey's hand from its pain-rattled skull. A cloud of grey mist formed in its mouth, smelling of death...
But it never got to fire its attack off.
---
A small figure with dark mustard yellow wings landed beside the beast, hands glowing with a blue energy.
"The sea is a mighty force, It can be a source of life, And yet it can turn."
At these words, the beast let out a horrible noise, but not one of anger. Rather, it sounded like it was in pain.
"Today I bring its blessing, I confer to you purification."
Although the night sky was clear, rain began to fall. The energy around the figure's hands swirled, resembling spirals of water going up its arms.
"Remember your true nature, and receive the blessing of the sea."
The figure extended their hands towards the beast, and the blue energy swirled around the thrashing creature, muffling its cries. The energy began to turn white, illuminating the night, even if only for a moment...
The beast closed its eyes. It loosened its body, and inhaled as the white energy entered it. A strange sound, presumably a contented one, escaped its maw.
Loba turned, and winked at Kelsey. "You'll sea what this does. I gotta go now."
As the dark-winged angel extended her wings, the beast took a look around the plaza, at Kelsey. It unfurled its wings, changing from a galactic sea to a simple black-to-white gradient. Its body tensed up, as if ready to fight again...
But it just turned away, and flew into the night sky, not looking back. A tear fell from its eye.
---
"... Well. That happened."
To say William was shocked was an understatement. "Ugh... I'm all wet. And this shirt tends to shrink in cold water." He pulled at his upper shirt, frowning at the dampness. "... Hey wait isn't there gonna be a fiery blast soon? Wait, I'm already drying?!" Pat pat pat. "Yeah, I'm like, already drying..."
---
"... I feel... Oddly at peace..." Seeker said. "I can't even get the strength to lift my weapon up."
Flint gave a sigh of relief, even as his hair hung over his eyes. "Well, I guess that wasn't just pretty. Let's get outta here so this doesn't stick."
---
"Hi, mysterious superhero that is totally not some death-cheating kid," Lark said, vanishing his weapon, not changing direction. "Pretty neat, huh? Oh, don't give me that look. You guys should already be drying!"
