Artemis blinked as she holstered her gun once more. "I swear they looked familiar," she offered before shaking off some rogue water droplets. "Not the first time I've gotten soaked on a mission our. Diving in the Thames was much more dangerous."

Hooo.... Things were happening so fast and in such numbers! Ranuen had only ignited what he had intended to be the slimes' funeral pyre while watching the fate of the Beast as Lark arrived. Did he.... Did he say something about a buddy? "Fantastic. Just what we needed." He growled out, before spinning around at the sound of... well.... Something not burned to ashes by his pyre strike. He was astonished to find one of the slimes had survived. "This one's tough..." He remarked. "Didn't expect something like this to survive one of my flames.... Well, whatever." Ranuen's blade burned white hot. "I'll correct that." He drove in against the remaining slime, his blade a vibrant white and red blur in the air, turning his surroundings into a mirage as dozens of slashes hewed and cut at the slime, intending to slice it into dozens of pieces and then set those pieces alight where they would (hopefully) burn away into nothing. Then he could get to the matter of Lark and the Beast, despite Kaylee and Lark seeming to have that bit under control.
-----
Alaric gave Seeker a sharp look, in lieu of the man's outburst. "I understand." He snapped shortly. "We should hold back for now. We'll not lose him this time. Let's make our way to the top of a building, and wait for the opportune moment. You and Val are excellent shots, and I'm not that bad when I'm not trying to aim from the back of a jinking wyvern-- no offense." He added a quick note as he glanced at Flint. "I'm sure putting a hundred or so meters between us and the center of the commotion, while we find a decent vantage point, won't affect our ability to get the drop on Lark if it comes to it, and it may even help us stay undetected." He suggested.

"Oh, for f***'s sake, why am I doing this?" Kelsey groaned to herself, suppressing her gag reflex to the best of her ability as she dug her acid-soaked hand into the back of the monster's neck. With the claws of her other hand tightly clinging to the beast's back as it desperately fought to wriggle its horns free, she tore through its skin in a blind search for anything resembling a brain stem. Whatever it took to kill this thing now before she completely lost her mind.
But of course, it managed to yank itself out of the stone wall, shake Kelsey off and charge up another attack. Fearful that she had no time to dodge, Kelsey quickly raised a wall of shadows in self-defense, but before it had a chance to fire off its round, a dark figure landed next to them and started speaking... some sort of poem? A blessing? Kelsey dropped her shadows and stared in complete bafflement at the newcomer, stepping away as the monster writhed and yowled in pain, then seemed to calm down entirely as it absorbed the iridescent energy.
As all this went on, Kelsey just slowly shook her head, completely giving up on trying to make sense of any of this.
"Yeah, that's probably for the best," Tri mused with a humorous chuckle. "Just when things were starting to get fun too."
When the noticeably altered beast faced Kelsey again, she merely responded with a firm stance, holding her ground and bracing herself despite her apparent lack of energy, not to mention the sneaking suspicion she felt that by now, this thing didn't want to fight her either. She wasn't sure why she believed that; something about the air it gave off just seemed to convey it. Sure enough, its next move was to take to the sky, abandoning the mess it had made in the Plaza.
Relaxing again, Kelsey watched the beast depart with a heavy sigh. She felt confused, frustrated... a little guilty about how brutal she had been... Most of all, though, she felt drained. Right then and there, she wanted nothing more than to put this insanity to rest, but even without Tri's taunting confirmations, she knew that this was just the beginning of this downward spiral.
She looked down at herself. Her dress had been thoroughly torn to shreds. This thing was brand new too...
She looked at her hands as the rain washed away the blood and acid. The soothing sensation brought her at least a little comfort.
She looked around until she found Paul off in the distance. Then she started walking his way.
---------------------------
"W- Help?" Paul responded, fumbling to come up with something, anything to say to this chaos. "D-Do you know what's going on, Lark? What that- that thing is? What is-?"
Then he watched the beast be struck with some sort of blessing, effectively calming it to the point where it simply departed without further incident. Seeing this, as well as the extermination of the last of the slime creatures courtesy of Ranuen, Paul let out a deep breath and rubbed his head. This had been a really long night. It was going to take him a while to process all of it.
He had just been about to ask Lark what the frigging frig just happened when the white-haired man called out to, in his own words, some mysterious superhero that is totally not some death-ch- WAIT WHAT?!
Paul's head whipped around until he spotted a tiny speck of purple with a tinier speck of green up on a rooftop. The moment he did, he heard a faint "S***," then the figure turned and dashed away.
The dragon man scowled at the absconding superhero. He hardly registered Lark's words, let alone everything that had and currently was going on around him. He might've been despairingly confused about tonight's events, but Paul knew one thing for sure: he and Kenny were going to have a long talk when he got home.

"... Hey! They got here, too! They were at the bar too! ... I just hope they're not too mad at Lark."
William walked over to the dragon man and demon girl, disappearing his sword, as it seemed Raunen had taken care of the slime creatures. He frowned at some of the gunk that had nonetheless picked up on his clothes. I just got these boots. Genuine crocogator hide too. Waving a hand and trying to not set off any tempers, he tried to look friendly. "Hey, Paul, Kelsey, Raunen! You guys holding u... Well, I can draw some conclusions," he said, getting a look at Kelsey's dress. "Sorry about getting you tied up in our mess... I'll see if I can't replace that dress (if I get paid again.)"
"Ain't you courteous." And William jumped, somehow having missed Lark. "Always lookin' out for the girl and that other junk. I bet you can even remember every detail of the girl you followed into the seedy part of Ode!"
The blonde's face went beet red for a moment. "I was chasing a known criminal! And yes, I can remember her- short, brown hair, grey eyes, completely unassuming! And the vending machines! Ugh... Those weren't snacks at all." he shuddered, as his face regained its usual complexion. "Gah! When the hell did you get here anyway, Lark?!"
"Just a few minutes ago. Heard about the shit that was going down... Never thought I'd see such a creature with my own eyes. Wish I coulda fought it." The white-haired man seemed unafraid, almost curious, raising a hand to his chin.
The taller man raised an eyebrow. "You know what that thing is?!"
"Draconic head, long neck, three-clawed feet, mismatched eyes... Flight, super strength, and magical power... According to the ancient texts, that's what's known as a Protostar Beast."
"Anything else we should know about?!"
"Temper." Lark actually seemed uneasy as he continued. "I'm afraid that's all I know. Most of the texts are indecipherable or contain contradictory details, so... Just this one thing. If it can't find a way back home, it will likely claim this place as its own territory." His cape started changing colours, shifting between red and blue. "Oh, yeah. You may wanna find your buddy. I can help."
A pale green flame burst in Lark's hand, and the mage seemed to stare into it. "Hmm... hmm..." The flame turned a bright shade of blue. "Looks like he made it back to dragon man's apartment. You may want to hurry before he eats all your f... wait..." As Lark seemed to notice something odd about the flame, it changed colour again, turning a dark red. "... Or he's passed out in the alleyway. How strange..." As the flame reverted back to the pale green, the white-haired man clenched a fist, extinguishing it. "Up to you. You may want to check both places."
---
"I dunno about you, boss," Flint said, dragging Seeker along. "But I feel completely at peace. Like, even if I could transform, I doubt I'd be able to actually fight."
At this, Seeker sighed, sounding defeated. "I feel the same. That's something beyond magic, hm... We get him later."

Artemis noticed this before a chuff was heard over head. "And it looks like my ride's here. Never thought I would be saying that about my boss," she offered. "Good luck with which you check, William. This sounds worse than a Schrodinger's Cat Paradox. Shoot me a message if you need some help again."

Problem solved? ...Ranuen guessed, anyways. He slowly walked towards Kelsey as he saw the Beast take flight. "What... just happened?" He asked her. "I was a little preoccupied so I might have missed something important... scratch that. I definitely missed something important." He muttered. Though this didn't take as long as I thought it would... I might still have five or six minutes left at this size. He thought briefly. Lark was there and William quickly joined them as well, as Ranuen looked at them and listened to Lark's explanation.
"Protostar Beast huh? It was certainly ferocious. But..." For as fierce as it was... how had it been calmed so quickly and easily. "What was that then?" He asked Lark. "How did it just..." A loss for words, apparently. "Wait... When you say "claim this place as its territory.... Do you mean this plaza? This city? ...This island?" He asked, curiously, and in a tone of slight concern. Ranuen loved a good fight. What he didn't like, was when defenseless civilians got mixed up into it. But Lark seemed to keep moving along, mentioning the location of William's "buddy". "Bugger all..." He looked at William. "Your call. We can head back to the apartment or try to comb the alleys around here. But I don't have much longer at this size, so I don't know how much use I'll be in a search party."
----
Alaric joined the collective sigh amongst his own little party. "...Next time... Yes. I've no doubt there will be a next time, in any case." He said quietly.

"Don't worry about it..." Kelsey sighed, staring solemnly at her thoroughly ruined dressed. "This thing wasn't worth much anyway."
She found Paul looking just as exasperated as she felt. When he noticed her, he offered Kelsey a reaffirming nod and a pat on the shoulder. "That looked... brutal. How're you holding up?"
"I've had worse fights," Kelsey answered honestly. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Didn't get much done, but at least no one got hurt." Paul frowned at a nearby rooftop. "Gonna have to have a talk with Kenny when I get home."
Catching on, Kelsey awkwardly clicked her tongue and shook her head, then took a deep breath and inspected her present company. William, Ranuen, Paul... She felt more or less at ease around all of them, but Lark still made her feel uncomfortable. His knowledge of the Protostar Beast didn't exactly assuage any doubts she had about his character, even if he knew considerably less than what Tri was willing to pass on.
And then Lark revealed Percy's location. Or at least two possible locations.
"Um... That seems like a pretty big 'or,'" Kelsey warily stated. "Are we really going on another wild goose chase? 'Cause let me tell ya, this has already been one of the longest nights of my life. Feels like I've been restraining psychopaths and searching for friends and fighting monsters for months."
"A justifiable argument," Tri snickered.
Paul sighed. "We might as well. There's no telling what Percy might know by now or what sort of danger he's in. After all we've been through tonight, I'd feel kinda lousy if I didn't try to help the guy out."
"That... That's fair." Kelsey ran her hand through her hair, trying her best to remain positive for Paul's sake. They'd gone this far together. Might as well continue to put her talents to good use. "So... where to?"
Tri grinned deviously and rubbed his hands together. Looked like he was wrong. The fun was just beginning.

"Dammit. As if I wasn't in deep enough s***."
Mysterion dashed across the rooftops, hastily making his way towards the hotel. Not only was he miffed that he never got a chance to go toe-to-toe with that behemoth, but now he had to face the wrath of his surrogate older brother figure for trying to help. It wasn't fair. What was the point of being let in on this grand adventure if he wasn't going to be a part of it? It wasn't like he couldn't take care of himself. He didn't even die this time!
Well... if Paul was really going to commit to this... then maybe he would get his chance to shine. When, where and how, the boy didn't know.
"Where are you off to?"
Myterion stumbled to a halt, whipping around to find himself face-to-face with the same angel he had spoken to before. After shaking off the surprise, he responded, "Sorry, no time to talk. Gotta get home."
"Believe me... there is plenty of time, Mysterion." The angel stepped closer to the child and got down on one knee. "I know you're worried about your friend. I can get you home quickly if that's what you want. Or... if you feel so inclined to help this cause, you could come with me. I need your help with something."
"You need my help?" Mysterion questioned skeptically. "With what exactly?"
"I'll explain when we get there." The angel offered a hand. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kendall, the Angel of Time."
Mysterion tilted his head. "Kendall?"
"Don't worry. It won't get that confusing."
"Why would that be confusing?"
"I think you know why. Now tell me..." Kendall smiled warmly. "What would you rather do? Go home or help placate this threat? It's your decision."
Granted, it really wasn't much of a decision. Kendall already knew exactly what Kenny was going to do.
The boy took the angel's hand...
