Strange Turn III (FEFD, closed)

"I'm not sure if it's just because I lost my pants, but... It got colder. No, Felicia, I know you can't really tell..." Corrinne said, hand on Yato as they descended down the stairs to the next floor. "... How long have we been down here?"

Kaze looked around, frowning at the decrease in light, even with their torch. "We've been down here for a few hours. I'd estimate this staircase took us about twenty minutes."

At last, they had finally reached the bottom of the staircase. As Corrin and Silas prepared to take the lead, Felicia backed off to the backline, as Kaze took a look through the keyhole. "Alright, Kaze," Corrinne said. "What are we up against?"

A pause, then... "I hear flapping wings... sky knights?" One could just hear the raised eyebrow in the ninja's voice. "Even though they will likely not have much in the way of mobility, be ready."

"Duly noted. Let's go."

[Pit of 100 Trials: Floor 21]

Kaze's assessment was accurate; a group of rather uncomfortable-looking Sky Knights greeted the group.

Jakob and Silas were the first to act, weapons glinting in the limited light as two were felled, Corrin transforming to strike down a third.

"Not too bad. Still, I'm starting to see a pattern here..."

In the sudden increase in space, one of the Sky Knights lunged for Corrinne, only to be swatted down by a newly-transformed tail. "What are you noticing, brother? Because I don't..."

A Flame Shuriken from Felicia froze a second in its tracks, and a pair from Kaze fell it. "I believe Lord Corrin's onto something," the ninja said, turning to face the next floor. "... I can just about make out some Spear Fighters."

There was a grumble of annoyance from one of the dragons. "Please tell me- actually, no. Don't say anything else."

It didn't take long for the group to finish off the remaining fliers, and the group continued on. "It started with the last set of floors, really, but there's enough of a pattern that I've already noticed it a bit. The set of ten floors seems to have a pattern to what we're facing. What is this... floor 22 now?"

Corrin struck at the first Spear Fighter with a claw, roaring out. "I'm predicting that in two floors, we'll have a group of opponents with Dual weaponry. If that's the case then I think my prediction will be correct."

Silas clashed weapons with another Spear Fighter, gritting his teeth. "We'll see. If that is the case, though..."

"...Then we can plan accordingly," Jakob finished.

Corrinne's horns clashed against a third Spear Fighter's weapon, allowing Felicia to finish it off. "C'mon, let's go! ... But what's on the next floor? Oh gods, I really hope we don't have any more of those... things..." Felicia said, glancing nervously at the axe attached to Corrinne's back.

"I don't know... Kaze? Please tell me it is anything else."

A pair of Shuriken stuck themselves into a spectral soldier's back, freeing it up for Azura to finish off. Kaze glanced in, straining to hear, see...

"... I sense magic." A small smile. "Lord Corrin, be careful."

As the last soldier was downed, the group proceeded to the next floor, sparks and flames lighting up the room...

[Pit of 100 Trials: Floor 23]

"Remind me to ask you how you do this."

Corrin shifted out of his dragon form, stepping back as Azura stepped forward. "So the third room uses unique weapons... interesting..." he mumbled under his breath.

Jakob flung a Barb Shuriken, taking down another Butler wielding a Flame Shuriken. "I imagine that that takes years of specialized training... I'll admit that I'm rather curious, myself."

Azura evaded a Bolt Naginata's strike, felling the lone Sky Knight in the room that was wielding it with her own Blessed Lance. "Watch yourselves!"

A Knight raised its Bolt Naginata, but the resulting electric blast did not seem to cause the ninja any harm. He ignored the heavily-armoured for for now, instead choosing to attack a spectral Maid, which left its Flame Shuriken behind when it vanished. "I believe you will make more use of this than I can, Jakob..." And there came the intrusive thoughts again.

"I'd also like to learn how to do that..." Felicia said, tossing her flaming weapon at the Knight from earlier, blinking when its weapon seemed to vanish out of its hand.

"I have this hunch that we might need this later..."

Corrinne rolled and attacked a Spear Fighter. "Are you secretly a seer, Kaze? Because I'd like tomorrow's lottery numbers..."

Azura nodded. "Felicia, may I hold on to that? My magical power may not be the best, but I can still use that if need be." Azura evaded another Flame Shuriken, striking down the Ninja wielding it.

Jakob took the offered weapon, utilizing it to strike at a Knight. "A tempting proposition, Lady Corrinne, but I believe we'd be better off focusing on today, wouldn't you?"

Corrin just laughed a bit. "At least we're keeping our spirits up!" Evading another bolt, he partially shifted his form, striking down another Knight with a Dragon Fang strike.

"Of course, Lady Azura." Passing the Bolt Naginata to the songstress, the Maid only winced slightly when another bolt struck her.

The offending Soear Fighter was struck down by a Flame Shuriken and a blow from Yato. "C'mon, let's go! We don't know how long this good mood will last!"

Hurrying along, yet more enemies waited them on the next floor...

[Pit of 100 Trials: Floor 24]

"I think we're getting a slight break if I'm correct. Kaze, are these Dual weapons?"

"Affirmative."

Corrin just folded his arms with a small smirk on his face. "As I thought. Okay, you know the drill, everyone. Silas, sister!"

Silas drew his blade, moving up alongside Corrin. "Right!"

Jakob chuckled wryly as he prepared his Barb Shuriken. "A bit of a breather indeed... it seems Lord Corrin's prediction was correct."

"Felicia, Kaze, we'll handle the dagger-users. Brother, Silas, Jakob, I'l leave the lancers to you. Azura... Well, you're smarter than most," Corrinne said, nodding to the maid and ninja. She rolled into one of the invisible ninjas, striking it with her blade, effortlessly dodging the counterattack and two shuriken struck it.

"You think some of these drop, or... And you're off. What's gotten into you, Kaze?" Felicia said, noting a Dual Naginata vanish from the hands of a Spear Fighter on the opposite end of the room, the same weapon suddenly in the hands of Silas, and a green blur/

Jakob flung his weapon at the nearest Spear Fighter. "I do believe he's taking advantage of his ability to steal weapons. Quite useful, really..."

Silas holstered the newly-stolen weapon on his back, taking down a Sky Knight with a shout. "Thank you!"

Corrin couldn't hide his grin as he dueled a Knight, a bolt from Azura's Naginata aiding his fight. "This is going well." He mused to himself as the armored opponent faded away. "Next should be... a few rooms with mixed types of warriors, I think..."

"Are you still testing your theory, Lord Corrin?"

"I am, Jakob. I need to make sure it's correct."

"If this is correct, you're telling me all the lottery numbers when we get out," Corrinne said, swatting a ninja to the side with a transformed hand, not even bothering to draw her weapon out. "Also, if there are any tomes, Kaze, you need to steal me some."

A Dual Shuriken vanished from a second ninja's grip. Felicia downed the now-disarmed figure with her Flame Shuriken up close. "Keep it up, Kaze! Maybe you could steal everyone's weapons?"

Silence. "... That's not plausible, I think."

"Be sure to remind me." Corrin flipped out of the way of a dagger thrown his way before cutting down its wielder, the room slowly clearing out. "Let's see..."

As they continued to the next room, the manakete nodded again. "Mixed units... Cavaliers, Spear Fighters... ...Is that a Basara?"

[Pit of 100 Trials: Floor 25]

"...Oh, damnation, it is." Corrin stepped back as Jakob stepped forward.

"I'm not sure if they're wielding any magic, but we'd best stay alert."

"I don't see a tome nor scroll, but..." Kaze seemed to vanish. "I'd keep an eye on its lance, Lord Corrin. I cannot tell, but it appears to be magical in nature."

"I'll challenge it. Felicia, Azura, if you would." The maid nodded, and got into position behind Corrinne, as the manakete princess made a jump at it...

She felt a singeing sensation, but not much actual damage. "Gah! ... Kaze's right! Leave the Basara to us, brother!"
