A large battleship, floating in the skies yet resembling a sailing ship of yore, hovered above the plaza. Figures, strange-coloured men with wings, stood at guard, at the ready. The orders had been issued. This was their target. Take the island. But, as their king had always added, try to convince the local population to surrender first before you raise your sword.
"My father never liked war, and yet he has no choice but to give these orders. Because this is how we've always lived. We fight, we conquer, we live to see another day." Even as the rain poured down, the army was still ready to strike if their demands were not yet met. However, the commander dispatched for this mission had taken some time to examine the plaza. Something had crashed, and lo and behold, there was the meteor. Liderc placed a cautious hand on the space rock, only to immediately hiss and recoil. "How strange... It's identical to... It can't be from..." Running a hand through his blonde hair, the red-eyed angel glanced around, noting the strange substance on the floor, and the complete absence of any living creature...
"Commander Shamash. Commence the intimidation wave?"
"Negatory." Liderc spoke into a green crystal. "Something's not right... Redirect all troops to sector twenty."
There was a strange sound as the battleship moved towards the plaza, shadowing the area below as it moved.
---
"... Ah, that was a good nap."
William stretched his arms as he exited the building he had apparently squatted in overnight, although immediately groaning at the rain. "Oh, come on." There didn't seem to be anything he dubbed suitable as a makeshift raincoat or umbrella nearby, so the blonde took to speed to find another covered area.
There was a convenient dry patch underneath the battleship. "Ahhh, that's better..."
"... The hell are you doing here?"
And just like that, William found himself in another awkward situation; more specifically, the blade of Liderc's naginata pointed at his throat. "Gah?! The hell is this about?! I don't want trouble, I just want to get outta the rain!"
...
---
There was a screaming sound, and a burst of green flames. William, hair mildly singed, bolted through the rainy streets blindly, trying to evade the green angel.

Long, quiet nights were not unusual for Alaric Helsing. As a career monster hunter, stakeouts were hardly uncommon, lying in wait for something to happen. Tonight he was back in the Plaza, at the scene of the attack earlier, seemingly doing nothing. Sitting on a park bench, with a coffee. While it was unlikely anything would happen after the attack earlier, it was worth sticking around to see if anything came up. Alaric wasn't even bothered when it started raining. Aside from the lack of visibility, he was a professional. A little rain never hurt anyone. And thankfully it had been very quiet so far. Alaric's sixth sense for detecting supernatural anomalies hadn't actually been going off at all. Well. Until now, at least. A huge ship came into view above the plaza, attracting Alaric's gaze. "And here I thought it'd be a quiet night." He mused to himself, standing up and stretching. Rolling his neck to pop it and cracking his knuckles. His right hand went into the pocket of his jacket to close around the handle of his pistol.
Alaric had been content to sit back and wait to check things out from a safe distance, but as he watched, he saw a bystander emerge beneath the ship. Is he some kind of idiot!? Alaric thought in bafflement, as he saw William accosted by an angel, armed with a polearm of some kind. "You've got to be kidding me." As the chase initiated, Alaric took off as well, as Liderc attempted to chase William through the streets. An angel? Was that actually an angel? Damnit. He had no idea what those were vulnerable to. Unholy weapons? Well that... eliminated pretty much Alaric's entire kit. As he ran, he loaded several ordinary bullets into his pistol. He'd just have to hope that would be enough. As he rushed through the streets after Liderc and William, he finished loading the pistol, drew it up and fired a single shot, which whipped through the air to hit the street, past Liderc and William. A warning shot. "Hey! What's going on here!?" He demanded, as he hurried to catch up with them.

"ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..."
Beneath the deck of the ship, one crew member was still asleep, sprawled out on a bench, a river of drool flowing from his mouth, various metallic bits and pieces scattered about on the table next to him. The commotion outside didn't seem to stir him, and honestly, those who knew him best might've felt inclined to ensure nothing did. It was somewhat of a miracle he was even asleep to begin with, and the random bits of steampunk machinery –not to mention the soot smudges all over his face, hands and shirt– were likely a clear indicator of why.
But as they say, all good things must come to an end...
"ZZZZZ... GCK... SNRT... TESLA COIL-!!!"
SLAM
"OW!!! Ow...! Ow...! Ow...! Ow...!" Mic flopped back down onto the bench immediately following his violent awakening, rubbing his head where he had smacked it on the underside of the table.
Once the pain had been adequately soothed, he swung his legs over the side of the bench and sat up, still a little dazed. He wiped the slobber off his cheek, creating a new smudge in the process, then he felt around for his glasses until he realized five seconds in that they were still on his face.
"Wow! Guess I dozed off. That doesn't happen often..." Mic mused to himself, tapping a finger to his chin. He glanced back at the mess on the table, then he looked ahead again with an ecstatic smile. "I wonder if we've reached our destination yet!"
At that thought, he hastily scrambled to his feet and dashed up the nearest staircase to the deck, eyes wide with pure, childish excitement. "HEY FELLAS! WE THERE YE-ACK! PFFT! RAIN! WET!" Clearly caught off guard by the downpour that awaited him outside, Mic stumbled a few steps back and wiped the cold water from his eyes. At least he was a little cleaner now...
Quickly adjusting to the weather, Mic dashed over to the edge of the ship to get a bearing on their surroundings. His eyes brimmed with wonder as he took in the silhouette of the city through the rain. The unfamiliar skyline, the strange people wandering the streets below, the overall change in the very atmosphere around him...! Or maybe that was just the humidity. Either way, the environment he found himself in simply captivated him.
"OH MY WOW! THIS IS IT, ISN'T IT?! WE MADE IT!" Mic was practically bouncing in place at the thought of what was to come. He had come a long way, but finally, he had been given the chance to do something real. Something important.
"I have no time to waste!" he giggled before whipping back around and scurrying below deck again. "I GOTTA FINISH! GOTTA FINISH! I'M COMIN' FOR YA, PERDIX!!!"
---------------------------
"So..." Paul warily stared at Kelsey as the two huddled beneath an umbrella, steadily making their way towards the Plaza. "What're you gonna do about that?"
"I don't know..." Kelsey sighed, staring down at her feet. "I hate to leave him all alone in there. So I guess... the only solution to that is to absorb another soul. But whose? I don't wanna subject just any random person to that kind of existence..."
"Yeah, that's... definitely a dilemma..." That was really all Paul could say on the matter. He understood how Kelsey felt about having to essentially kill someone, but he also could see how much she sympathized with the lone soul she had already consumed. It was sort of a lose-lose situation she had found herself in.
Of course, he was mostly trying to keep the conversation on this topic to avoid the elephant in the room. Said elephant being the giant airship hovering over the Plaza. Missing it was impossible. Trying to ignore it might not have been the same, but it was still difficult in its own right.
"Well... maybe... we could find some villains around here for me to beat?" Kelsey awkwardly suggested, not that she was especially keen on the idea. "Once their soul has been absorbed, they have no choice but to submit to my will anyw-"
Paul and Kelsey both came to a halt when they noticed something else out of the ordinary, and a bit more of an immediate concern than the floating ship. A young man was just up ahead, running like crazy from a green, fire-spewing angel. The man's mop of blond hair was almost instantly recognizable.
"OH FRICK, WILL...!"
"What the...?" While Paul's worries were naturally directed at their new friend, Kelsey's attention landed on the angel, her mind quickly piecing two and two together. "Wait... I know that prick!"
Instantly, Kelsey bolted into the rain after the two, an aura of shadows surrounding her form. Paul jumped in place and let out a guttural exclamation, then hastily followed her.

"Can't we just talk this out?!" Glancing over his shoulder and shouting, William's panic was obvious as he ran, even as the green angel began to gain on him. This prompted a snarl from the red-eyed one.
"I suppose we could, but this is better intimidation tactics..." For whatever reason, Liderc slowed down, only to pick up the pace when enough distance was put between the two. A green and yellow fireball formed in his hand, before being launched at WIlliam. The blue-clad man yelped as it got too close, only to find that the green flames diverted themselves upward. "What's the matter, demon boy? Are you going to give me a show?"
Gunshots rang out, causing both men to jump, one more so than the other. "Are you TRYING to shoot me?!"
"I don't try to kill people, dipshit." And Liderc was getting a bit too close to WIlliam for comfort. "I actually do kill people."
Realizing he was steadily losing room to maneuver, a blade hilt began to form in William's hand. The slightly taller blonde skid to a halt, facing his pursuer. "Alright, you want a fight, you'll damn well get a fight... I really don't wanna do this thou- AUGH?!" His moment of courage was short-lived, however, as one of the bullets impacted his thigh, causing William to yelp and collapse, a small but growing hole visible on the pant leg...
Liderc cringed, then frowned, lowering his naginata slowly. "Okay, I know none of my men have such weapons..." A swat of the naginata was enough to force the blade hilt to disappear when William tried to slash at him. "Listen, idiot. I'm going to get your leg healed." His free hand had a soft, cobalt light covering it. "Now, hold still, I'd rather not leave this half-ars- EUGH?!"
But before the healing spell could be applied, Liderc suddenly found himself blasted by a dark spell, sending the green-skinned angel flying a short distance.

Agh, damnit! One of Alaric's warning shots must have gone wide and hit one of the people in the leg. That had only been meant to hit next to them. "Sorry about that." He assured William as he tried to approach, reloading his gun. Ammo capacity was not a strength of this pistol. Stopping power was. He saw Liderc attempt to heal the man, and raised an eyebrow. "Let me repeat... what's happening here." He was slightly out of breath from sprinting to make up for lost time. Alaric finished reloading and gave the bullet chamber a spin.
And then Liderc was blasted by a dark spell, and Alaric actually lurched aside to be certain he wasn't hit by Liderc's airborne body. "What the--?" He glanced around, seeing another two people approaching. One of them, trailing behind, the other charging forwards with an aura of shadows. "That's much more my speed." Alaric growled, putting his hand into his jacket, and holding a flask of holy water inside. Would it work? Who knows. But it'd be worth a try if this turned violent. For the moment, things were chaotic. Alaric attempted to approach William, trying to get between him and Liderc, but watching Kelsey and Paul as they came rushing in. His gun barrel was pointed downwards, in a non-threatening manner, but its presence was an indicator that Alaric was prepared to defend himself. No... No wait. His eyes narrowed. Wasn't that the woman he'd seen fighting the beast the night before? "You." He addressed Kelsey. "This a friend of yours?" He looked over toward Liderc to see if the angel had recovered.

"Alright. Okay. Alright. Okay." With steady hands and deep breaths, Mic screwed the back panel onto the small, handheld device he had spent the entire trip building. Once everything had been clicked into place, he flipped it upright and gave the compass-like dial in the center a flick, causing the needle to gyrate a little until it pointed up and settled.
"YES!!!" Mic raised the remote high into the air like its completion was the greatest accomplishment of his life. "THIS IS THE ONE! I know I've said that fifty-seven times already, but THIS TIME I KNOW I GOT IT RIGHT!"
Pleased with his good work, Mic grabbed his jacket off the corner of the table, threw it on, then tucked his remote into an inner pocket along with the envelope he had been carrying with him. After stuffing a few other bits and pieces inside his jacket, he took a couple seconds to inspect the junk still scattered and piled atop the table, eventually coming to the logical conclusion. "I'LL CLEAN THAT UP LATER!"
With that said, he scurried back upstairs, buttoning up his jacket as he ran. Upon reemerging on the top deck, he cast an eager grin at the assembled army of angels. "Well, gents! It's been a pleasure travelling with you! BUT IT'S TIME FOR ME TO GET GOING! MY MISSION AWAITS AND THE ISLAND BECKONS ME! UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!!!"
After giving an overdramatic salute, Mic turned around, spread his wings, sprinted to the stern of the boat and leaped over the edge, letting the wind carry him into the rainy, grey abyss.
A few seconds later, an angel near the back let out a low, prolonged groan. "Thank Faravahar he's gone..."
---------------------------
After summoning a shadow tendril to grab Liderc and yank him away from William, Kelsey dashed over to the downed angel and skidded to a halt, spraying mud beneath her shoes. From there, she gripped her fists and scowled down at the green-skinned man, her black aura still active. Up close, she could clearly confirm that this was the same jerkoff she had encountered the day she arrived on the island. Couldn't quite place a name, though; she only remembered it being something really nonsensical and stupid.
"Well, hello, Mr. Greenleaf. Been a while, hasn't it?" She acknowledged that he probably wouldn't understand the Talented Mr. Ripley reference or the subtle insult weaved within the more obvious one, but hey, it was funny to her, at least...
In the meantime, Paul ran up to William, falling to his knees and holding the umbrella so they were both shielded from the rain. "Will! Will, what hap-? Oh, cripes...!" He quickly noticed the bloody bullet hole in the young man's leg, leaning in to inspect it as gently as possible, not that he had much of an idea what to do about it...
Kelsey only briefly glanced back at Alaric, opting to keep her focus squarely on Liderc. At the very least, she responded to his question in a monotone voice, "William over there is. This guy's just some twerp I met on my first day here."

"Nnrgh... Thanks, Kelsey, Paul... Uh, weren't you at the bar and plaza last night, too? Don't think I got your name, though... As for the bullet..." William groaned as he slowly got to his feet. "Don't worry about me... I've taken worse..." Despite the blood running down his pants and boot, he managed a grimace of a smile. "Sorry you're getting caught up in our mess again. ... Though I don't know this green guy."
"... Beg pardon? Do I know you?" Liderc tilted his head to the side in confusion. "I don't believe we've met. Then again, there are so many unfashionable people in the world, and only one of me." He shook his head and made a 'tsk' sound, seemingly genuine on his ignorance of Kelsey. "The hell is this for, anyway? I was attempting to mend this buffoon's leg after that made gunman shot it."
"Dude." William seemed unamused. "Calling people buffoons is not exactly a way to get released. And if you're gonna insult me, can you at least call me something my kid sister doesn't call me half the time?"
"Alright, I didn't come for a manners lesson, and yet here I am anyway." Liderc seemed to be struggling against Kelsey's shadow tendril. "I'm here on an official mission. You seem like a reasonable person." He motioned to Kelsey. "And my boss isn't one for wanton violence. So, under the authority of Caladrius II Ukko Serapis- may Faravahar on above bless him and his glorious reign- I offer these generous terms. Surrender immediately, and no harm will befall your little island. We'll even let you keep self-rule, so long as your recognize Caladrius II Ukko Serapis- may Faravahar above bless him and his glorious reign- as your ultimate sovereign, and pay tribute every rotation cycle."
"... The hell kinda deal is that?!"

Alaric frowned at Kelsey's answer. "Well, I apologize for wounding your friend. I meant to only fire a warning shot, but his erratic movements caused me to hit his leg instead." He looked at William in response to his comment not to worry. "Even if you say that, I must apologize. I don't normally harm humans." He commented, glancing back over at Liderc. "I'm hardly mad though. As I saw, you were the one pursuing him, brandishing a spear."
Alaric allowed events to develop further with no added statements or questions for a few moments. Riiiight up until Liderc demanded the island's surrender. Alaric raised an eyebrow. "Someone has a rather high opinion of themselves." He noted. "I'm in agreement with this gentleman-- Will was it?" Alaric inquired, remembering what Paul had called William. "Ah. I can treat your injury if you like. It was my fault after all." He wouldn't proceed further if William refused, however. But it seemed that William's friend didn't quite know what he was doing, and Alaric was well trained in first aid. "In any case, that's quite the demand you're placing upon us." He said, now returning his attention back to the angel.

"One way or another, I'm gonna find ya, I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha..."
Mic sang under his breath as he soared above the Plaza, effortlessly riding the wind in spite of the rain, not even perturbed by the weather. He was just too excited to let a little storm bring his spirits down. He was here, in a brand new world, finally called upon to put his talents to good use and help his people, and nothing was going to stop him.
His eyes scanned the landscape below, watching intently for anything suspicious. Sure, he could've tried out his new invention right out of the gate, but he at least wanted to do a traditional sweep first. Besides, it never felt right when he used his creations only for himself. Maybe he was just a showoff –he was willing to admit that– but he also appreciated the constructive criticism his peers gave him during his test runs. When they weren't insulting him, anyway...
Wait... What was...?
Mic slowed down slightly to take in the scene just up ahead. A small group had gathered. A couple of them were on the ground, and one such party member had a distinctly green tint. Could it be...?
No... It wasn't him... I couldn't be, at least not this soon... But then who could it...?
"GAAAAAAAAAAAASP..."
---------------------------
"Hey, come on, don't apologize..." Paul anxiously, breathlessly murmured as he examined William's leg, grabbing it just gently enough not to make the pain that much worse. "Okay, it doesn't look too bad. Think it just grazed you. But still, we should get this patched up." He looked up at Alaric. "I-If you know how to help, yeah, that would be great, actually..."
Kelsey shot a deadpan glare at Liderc. Not so much out of anger as much as disappointment. "Of all the adjectives you could've used, you went with 'unfashionable.' What, was 'lame' just not lame enough? I wanna say that I've heard better comebacks in this or that or whatever, but I've already given this insult more attention than it deserves. But seriously, you met me when I first arrived on the island? I'm the demon girl who killed that degenerate monster or whatever it was for you?"
She slightly tightened her shadow's hold on Liderc when he insisted he was going to heal William. "Oh, where you now? And I suppose those giant-a** Luigi-colored fireballs were healing flames, huh? You just chasing him 'cause you wanna be his friend?"
"Kelsey, you are adorable," Tri snickered, earning a mumbled cuss in return.
When Liderc sat up and offered his terms, Kelsey just stood there in silence, an almost thoughtful expression on her face as she frowned at the ground. Then she took a deep breath and turned back to the angel. "Well, thank you, I guess. I'd like to believe I'm reasonable, at least. You know, when someone's offering me a reasonable deal."
Remembering what she learned from their first encounter, Kelsey raised two shadow tendrils dangerously close to Liderc's wings. "Are you really so full of yourselves that you see claiming an entire island of free people and demanding their worship as an act of mercy? Do you honestly think we're just gonna fall prostrate before any on-high dictator of the week who feels entitled to whatever land he lands on just because he has fancy powers?"
Paul was noticeably curling inward as he watched Kelsey chew out the angel. "Uh... Kels?"
"Buddy, I've gone toe-to-toe with an oppressive the regime the likes of which would make you s*** your nest on a nightly basis. You really think I'm intimidated by your little flock?"
"KERUV!!!"
Kelsey looked up to see a yellow angel swooping in her direction, his fist reeled back and covered in flames. Considering the massive gap between them when she noticed him, she barely even flinched as she reached for the attacker with a shadow tentacle, grabbed him, flung him over her head and slammed him back-first into the earth.
Lying there prone, Mic stared into the grey sky with a blank, utterly dumbfounded expression. "Well... errors have been made."
Hardly deterred by this brief interruption, Kelsey turned to Liderc again with a hard scowl. "So let me offer this as a rebuttal. Take that ship of yours, turn it around, and sail back to whatever patch of dirt you already own. Because, little angel, I have ARCHDEMON blood flowing through these veins, and I can and WILL wreck your s*** if you even TRY. As long as I can help it, I'm not letting innocent people be controlled by any gutless, heartless, dickless, self-entitled monster with delusions of grandeur. And you can take that straight to Caladrius II Ukko Serapis, may Faravahar jump up his own a** and DIE."
...........................
......................................................
.................................................................................
"Is there a word for someone who's simultaneously bada** and adorable?"
Shut UP, Tri.
"I guess 'bada** adorable' is already a thing, but I'm talking a single word..."

Sigh. "I knew bringing that idiot along was a mistake..." If Liderc was unnerved by how close those shadow tendrils were to his wings, he didn't show it. Rather, he just seemed annoyed with the yellow-green angel. "Mic, you're not a fighter. You failed the coming of age test for a reason. Also, I know you had another mission." His unamused gaze returned to Kelsey, shifting into a defiant glare.
"Ouch..." William winced as Mic was tossed casually to the side, momentarily forgetting the pain in his leg. "I think I felt that one more than I did... ow..." He turned to Alaric and Paul, a grimaced grin on his face. "If you wanna patch me up, go ahead, but I think we've got bigger issues than my bloody leg." He motioned up to the sky, pointing out figures with wings, looking quite large and brandishing various weapons...
"... Ah, I remember you now. The one who would be nothing without the parasite within." The blonde angel made a strange, dark chuckle and shook his head. "It was only because of my advice that you killed that pathetic excuse for an angel. Without that, would you have known? Or would you be relying on that parasite to tell you what to do?" Even as the shadows drew closer to his wings, Liderc didn't seem scared. "Go ahead, kill me. Would my death please you? Would killing me make you the better person? I'm willing to even overlook your blasphemous comments about the king..." His hands seemed to be moving, even within the grasps of the tendrils...
The hairs on the back of William's neck stood up despite the rain, his grip on his blade tightening. "Kelsey... I think he's gonna try some sort of magic attack... Be careful..."
"Oh? Are you reliant on this half-breed as well? Well, in that case, I need not disappoint you..."
[HYPER BURST!]
A burst of grey magic, slightly tinged cobalt, was blasted at Kelsey, clearly the handiwork of the entrapped angel...

Both Paul and William agreed to let Alaric help, and he nodded. "Thank you. It's the least I can do." He admitted, approaching William. He reached into his coat to pull out a bandage roll and some gauze. "This isn't really proper disinfectant, but it's better than nothing." He noted, as he procured a flask as well and poured some whiskey onto the gauze. He rolled up William's pant leg, to check the injury. "We lucked out, your friend is right. I only grazed you. It'll hurt for awhile but you should be fine. Doubt there'll even be a scar." Alaric then applied the gauze and bandage, wrapping William's injury tightly and securing it with a knot, before pulling out a silver knife to cut the bandage off. "There. Won't say good as new, but at least it's disinfected and you won't be bleeding out."
Having assisted William now, Alaric's attention was turned back to the situation at hand with Kelsey. He'd overheard some yelling or something behind him, and it seemed another angel was set up here. "Wonderful. More company." He glanced at Liderc. "A friend of yours?" He made sure to check the sky figures as well, where William had been pointing. "I don't suppose either of you have any experience fighting angels? My specialty is vampires and werewolves." He snarked, with a pit in his stomach.
And then they were attacked. But at that moment, something unexpected happened. As the Hyper Burst spell flew towards Kelsey, it didn't make it to its destination. Seemingly out of nowhere, a fiery explosion erupted in mid-air, intercepting the attack, and hopefully stopping it or at least deflecting it away from its intended target.
----
"Morning everyone. Yawn. I see today's off to a great start." Behind the flame, a human form had suddenly appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.
Ranuen looked around the group. "So uhhh..... I have no idea what's going on. Someone mind filling me in? I was sleeping in a wall crevice, heard some arguing, and some gunshots, and poked my head out to see us all in a fight. And I thought: "Damnit, how could you guys get into a scrap without me." He glanced around at the potential adversaries. "But anyways, who's this asshole?"

"I know, but..." Mic awkwardly, meekly whined, a strange oxymoron that he managed to pull off surprisingly well. "I couldn't just leave you at the mercy of this demo-! Ooooooooooh...!" His eyes, still locked on the sky, started to glisten as he watched the goings on above.
Paul took note of this as well, albeit with less enthusiasm than the diminutive angel. "Uh, Kelsey? Seriously, I don't think we wanna be here..."
Kelsey paid no mind to Paul's anxious murmurs, sparing only a brief glance at the army of angels above before turning her attention back on Liderc. Her scowl seemed to tighten ever so slightly the longer he went on, and clearly she wasn't the only one made livid by his taunts.
"PARASITE?!" Upon appearing next to her in full astral form, Tri shot Kelsey a hard frown. "Yeah, okay, ice this motherf***er. I wanna try something anyway."
Kelsey gritted her teeth, though her glare seemed to take on a sort of nervousness. Her fingers twitched, much like the shadows that tensely brushed against Liderc's feathers. As the angel prattled on, his words sinking in, Kelsey found herself genuinely questioning her actions. Was she... really that close to killing him? What for? Sure, he was at the forefront of something horrible, but... what would this actually accomplish? How was she this blasé about her actions up to this point?
Seeing the position she was in now, seeing how easily she could take this man's life, this man who had done almost nothing to her personally other than be a jerk... it almost made Kelsey's stomach churn to imagine how far she had gone.
She started to come back down to reality just as Liderc charged up a spell, barely providing her with the opportunity to brace herself for it. What she lacked in preparation, though, was made up for by a blast of fire from Ranuen. The sheer force of the collision was enough to knock Kelsey, already thrown off balance in her hasty attempt at dodging, onto her hands and knees, the shadowy tendrils releasing Liderc and retreating into her aura.
Paul whipped around, exhaling a stiff sigh of relatively minimal relief at the sight of the swordsman. Happy as he was to see him, it didn't exactly alleviate the situation as a whole. "Ranuen, hey... Th-This guy... The angels... They're..."
Mic leaped to his feet, rushing over to his liberated superior. "Keruv, are you alright? She didn't hurt you, did she?? How're your wings?! I brought my Exgenerator if you want it! I FIXED IT THIS TIME, I SWEAR!!!"

"Mic, remember what it did last time?" Liderc just seemed annoyed with the shorter angel at the moment, disregarding the other individuals present at the time. "You turned me, and nine other elite troops, into goo. Remember? We had to get Hansa and Gagana to do some gooey shit to get us solid again?" Sigh. Clearly that was not a pleasant memory. "If you're going to use it, point it at the enemy, not us. Somehow, I'm sure that even... whatever it was intended to do will be better applied on them rather than turning us into goo again."
As the winged figures descended, one of them scooped the prince back to his feet. "Commander Shamash. Injuries reported?"
"Negative. Thanks for the concern, Falcon." Liderc seemed to mean that, softening slightly for a moment. His face hardened again, returning his gaze to the other beings present.
"Raunen! Nice to see you, dude, just that... You're waaaaaay too peppy in a situation like this." William was considerably less optimistic than the sometimes-tiny swordsman, especially as more of the winged figures landed. His visibly gulped. "Okay, a fight before breakfast, this isn't the best situation for me..." There was a low grumbling sound. "Ugh, dammit, I really need to get that under control..."
"This is almost embarrassing to watch." Liderc was tempted to smack his forehead. "Again. I gave you the option to surrender. I really don't want to be here either. This isn't fun for me. Unless, of course, you're willing to put up a fight like the host over there." He summoned his naginata, spinning it idly on the ground. "Or do you require a show of force?" He pulled out a green crystal, speaking into it like a walkie-talkie. "You know what to do."
There was a shaking sound as the ship moved from its spot above the plaza square to the street. A swift's head was visible on the prow, its beak opening up. Its shadow cast over the would-be combatants, a beam charging in the swift's beak.
A spiraling beam of energy, cobalt with black swirls, was fired into the distance. A warning shot, a display of its true power.

"Good to see you all too." Ranuen noted, moments before the force of the attack staggered him, even through his flame. He was shunted backwards, legs skidding over the ground with a harsh grating sound, though he managed to avoid being knocked down. "But why shouldn't I be peppy? I just woke up and shit's already hit the fan! Today's a good day"! He barked cheerfully. "Besides, it's looking like you could use an extra arm in this fight." He added. "Seeing how we are outnumbered.... ah well. I'm sure I'm worth at least two or three of these guys on a good day~" He boasted at Liderc, flicking his sword in a figure eight and then readying the weapon.
As for Paul's comment, Ranuen gave him a reassuring nod. "Paul it's fine. You just... I dunno... Get William somewhere safe? Where he won't get caught in the crossfire? Same for you." He suggested gently, before returning his attention to the unwanted visitors.
---
Alaric for his part, was still focused on Liderc's words. His gun was in his hand, and he was ready to open fire at a moment's notice... not that he was certain it would do a lot of good, but hey, it was better than nothing. Still, he was more focused on the negotiation angle. Seeing the demonstration of power from the ship, Alaric swallowed. Great... Well, how to proceed from here. "Do you even know who you're supposed to be talking to? How can you expect a handful of the first people you encountered on the streets to be able to speak for the entire Island?" He asked Liderc. Unless it was for the group's very specific surrender? Either way, Alaric was slightly cowed by the show of force. Alaric wasn't a coward. Far from it. But he excelled in situations where he could use his wits and guile against an opponent and these enemies seemed to be holding all the cards.
---
Ranuen for his part also seemed a little starstruck by the cannon. "Reminds me of the Jupiter Cannons back home. Imagine that'd leave a mighty big crater in place of a city block or two." He commented to Liderc. He glanced at his company though. Ranuen wasn't much of a leader. He was the muscle, or the spy, depending on which of his sizes was more useful. A scout? Sure. A front liner or a meat shield? No problem. But he didn't have the initiative to take call for the entire group in a major decision like this one. For his part, he'd have kept fighting to the last, but he acknowledged that his friends were probably less keen on the idea of kill or be killed methodologies. "Well Paul and Kelsey? What do you think? I'm all up for trying to find a way to board our friend's big air boat, right after we finish up here. But it's your call. I can get over my head sometimes, I know." But hey, you only got stronger by pushing yourself to your limit and past, right?

Mic smiled sadly up at Liderc, embarrassed yet somewhat grateful that he had only told half the story. Sure, he jellified a few angels, but there was no need to mention how the exgenerator subsequently blew up, right? Right??
"But I really have it down this time!" he insisted, reaching into his coat and whipping out what could only be described as a steampunk cross between a syringe and a laser pointer. "I even tested it! Fixed up a hopping hirsutistic beast's frond with it! IT WORKS NOW! LOOK!" He pointed the device at Kelsey...
KRA-POOF
"I CAN FIX THAT!!!"
Well, at least it skipped over the goo phase and went right to the explosion this time...
Kelsey only briefly recoiled at the sight of Mic's short-lived machine, then she straightened up and offered him a deadpan frown, quickly deducing that this absent-minded professor was not a threat. Or at least not an intentional threat. After shooting another scowl at Liderc, Kelsey looked up at the ship as a swift on board charged up some sort of attack... and into the sky, it fired a laser similar to Liderc's burst of magic, generating an audible thunderclap amongst the dark clouds.
Paul choked down the lump in his throat. "Uh... William? You're more familiar with these angels than I am. Should we go? Because I don't know about you, but I really feel like there's no way I can alleviate this situation."
"Yeah... Okay..." Kelsey took a deep breath, steeling her nerves as she looked Liderc in the eye again. "I might not be able to speak on behalf of the entire island, but I can at least muster an appropriate reaction on my own behalf. I'm not about to let you touch a single hair on anyone's head. But... I'll try to be fair. I'm not above handing out advice now and then. And if I could offer my opinion for just a moment, I can think of better places for your army to direct their efforts."
With a definite RIP, a pair of fleshy wings erupted from Kelsey's back. Her fangs and claws sharpened. A pair of horns grew atop her head. Her eyes turned ice blue with snakelike pupils.
"UP YOUR A**!!!"
"K-KELSEY, WAIT-!"
Then, with a beat of her wings, Kelsey took to the air. Fire engulfed her arms, the orange tongues writhing in spite of the storm. Her skin turned ruddy, emitting steam as the rain mixed with the acidic slime she had begun to sweat out. She rose higher and higher into the sky, carrying herself above the airship...
Eventually, she arced downward, speeding towards the ship's sail at a forty-five degree angle...
