The Edge of the Island...
What about this place continued to draw attention from everyone on the Island? All it was basically was a sheer cliff-face, that dropped down and down and down into the Darkness that awaited below. Null-Space, some called it. Sure it was also a good place for peace and quiet, but didn't the fact that they were so close to the edge of the world that hung over a vast blackness, scare them? Didn't the fact, creep them out even slightly?
It is with this thought we think, as two young people land on the grassy expanse, that spanned the edge before the sheer drop. The two walked up to the edge, looking out to the seemingly to empty air...
'What were two young men like Wally and Otto doing here?' Would be the question for those who knew the two young men at the edge, their eyes blank still in a trance.
The answer, like a mirage, came, not to dissimilar to a mirage.
As if out of a seeping mist, a gigantic, celestial, silver, white, grey, highly decorated temple appeared slowly. The energy it gave off was truely tremendous, Light and Dark perfectly in balance between each other. When the temple finally appeared fully, so did a bridge leading across the open air straight to the front door of the temple.
With no conversation between the two boys, Wally and Otto walked across the bridge and onto the Island where the Temple sat like a prophetic visage.
[glow=yellow,2,300][shadow=yellow,left,300]"Yes, come in, our vassals, we have been waiting for you. You have no reason to worry, your friends will be right behind you. When they come, we shall explain everything."[/shadow][/glow] The voice was clearer now; it sounded like that of a female; ringing like a bell, with a mature motherly tone.

"There they go!" Eddy screeched to a halt right at the edge of the island, watching the duo enter the suddenly-appearing airbourne temple.
"Oh, wow. I've never seen that structure before," Double D commented, hopping off of Eddy's shoulder. "Understandably, if it's been hidden in the mist."
"The voice told us to follow too!" Ed reminded. "Let's go!"

Marco merely looked at the Temple with anxiousness... "What is this place?"
The group quickly crossed the bridge, and entered the temple...
The inside was truely a sight to see. The lobby itself was a several story tall Sanctuary, with row upon row upon row of pews, that finally ended with a pulpit right in the center...
Standing in front of the pulpit was none other then Otto, whom was on his knees. Wally was revealed as well, sitting in the very front row. With both their backs turned to the group, it was unsure if they were free of their trances...

Otto suddenly shot straight up into a standing position. "Huh? WHAT THE?!? Where the heck am I?!?"
Wally followed soon after. However, he was more silent then Otto was... "Oooooooohh..." However, he was nervously shivering. "Mate... I think this place is..."

"Ooooooh..." Ed giggled, holding himself. "Heehee... the air's weird in here... tickles all over...feels good!"
"Geez..." Eddy shivered. "...I feel it too."
Double D did too, but didn't bring attention to it, noticing Otto and Wally first and hurried down the aisle towards them. "You... what brought you here?"

Otto turned to see Double D, looking surprised. "What the? Eddward?" He looked around, "Wha-What are you doing here?"
Wally at this point was looking around, seeming to be in disbelief at what he was seeing. "But... If Double D is here..." He quickly turned to Otto. "Mate... When we first woke up... I-I... I thought we were back in Arcadia Valley..."
Otto nodded. "So did I frankly." He turned to Double D, noticing the confused look. "Allow me to explain; we've been to this temple before... Back in the Valley. Bad times went down in here." He looked at Double D curiously, "Yet... We're still in the world of Dimensional Island... ... Aren't we?"

Double D nodded. "Just off the east edge of the main island. This temple is floating just within reach. It wasn't here before. Perhaps it's interdimensional." He mused for a second, then let it go for now, focusing on the task at hand. "Something unknown must've summoned you here. You left the Inn in a hurry, seemingly in a trance. So we followed."

Otto looked at Double D curiously... "Wally..." That succeeded in catching the boy's attention. "What's the last thing you remember from the Inn?"
Wally thought a moment. "Let's see... We were talking about the gem you found..." He froze up a bit, looking somewhat anxious. "I think... I can remember a warm feeling passing through me... And everything went black. All I could hear was this voice..."
"Strange... Me too..." Otto considered this a moment.
Wally looked over to where Marco was. "Courage!" Upon noticing the little fushia dog, Wally immediately ran over and picked him up. "Oh little mate, I'm so sorry! I'll bet you were scared to death!"
Marco nodded, "He had been shivering and whimpering our entire way here, kupo."
[That last part was because I noticed you forgot Courage.]

"...mm,hmm," Courage nodded meekly. He felt much more comforted in Wally's arms, though.
"Oh yeah! The voice!" Ed beamed in understanding.
"Was it of someone you recognized at all?" Double D asked.

As it turns out, Otto nor Wally didn't need to answer.
[Before I go on, I'd just like to say that two new characters will appear here; however, there appearances are purely circumstancial and the next time I use them will after I sign them up, either that, or they won't appear again after this. I hope people will forgive me for it.]

There was a bright flash that covered the sanctuary, causing everyone to cover their eyes...
Finally, when the light settled, and everyone lowered their arms...
They were taken aback to see a heavenly sight awaiting them.
Standing behind the pulpit was a woman, tall and willowy with with long pure white hair, and peach colored skin, clothed in a pure white robe. She gave the group a smile, her eyes pure blue like the skies above, and her smile seemed give off one of the kindest most motherly vibes anyone could ever see or feel.
"Hello brave ones..."
Otto and Wally were in awe at who they were looking at. "No way..." Otto muttered out; he looked about ready to faint... And that didn't even seem possible before.
"M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-" Wally was in equal disbelief. "MISTRESS YIN!!!"
When that word left Wally's mouth, he and Otto quickly bowed, their forms bent down from the waist up. Upon seeing everyone just staring in awe at the woman, Otto gave a most fearful snarl. "What are you doing you idiots!?! Your in the presence of the great Seraph of Light, Mistress Yin!! Show some respect!!!"
No sooner had that left his mouth then he felt a hand on his shoulder. Otto quickly looked up to see Mistress Yin smiling down on him. "There is no need for that Otto. I thought I had made that clear when we last met."
Wally quickly lifted back up hearing that, "Mistress Yin... Was it you who happened to summon us here?"
She giggled at the boy, "Yes it is. My brother was not too enthused of the idea, but it was I."

"Woooooow!" Ed cooed with big eyes of awe. Courage sighed, happy to see a nice face for once.
Reverently, Double D approached with a small yet respectful bow. "For what purpose did you summon all of us, Mistress Yin?"

Mistress Yin took in Double D, before nodding. "Ah, yes. Double D, correct?" Seeing his confused face made her giggle. "No need to look surprised. I know quite a bit about you, your friends, and your exploits. You are Super Children, native to the Planet Earth. In your lives you've faced challenges that very well equal that of mine and my brother's vassals."
Marco walked up next, bowing reverently. "No disrespect, kupo, but why did you call us here?"
Mistress Yin thought a moment, before snapping her fingers remembering. "Ah yes." She turned back to the group before her. "You see..."
She took a breath before continuing. "From this great temple, I have taken notice of your exploits brave ones. You are heroes in the truest sense. You're symbols of what heroes could be, yet often times, are not." She smiled. "I am often times called the Seraph of Heroes, alongside my brother Lord Yang, and it is my job to keep the peace where-ever I'm allowed too...
"HOWEVER..." Silence came at that word. "I have taken notice of an evil energy gripping this world come to be known as the Dark Insects. Powerful and terrible creatures, they destroy whatever they can find. However, for the sake of destroying these creatures, powerful gems were made, purposing to seal these insects away..."
Otto seemed to wince at this. "What... What do you mean?"
"The Nest Jewels." She kindly reitterated. "That's what they were created for, isn't it?" A frown appeared on her face. "But yet... Among us... One of us has been lied to about their purpose; severely... and purposefully."
All was silent...
Before every eye turned to Otto.
Otto looked at Yin questionably. "Are you saying that... The guy who lied to me... Did it on PURPOSE?"
"It is my thoughts," She nodded to this, "That there exists a being whom would want to destroy the Nest Jewels, just for the sake of letting the insects continue to exist. A being who's evil is well known in many lands, and his lies are like syrup and honey, shortly before being revealed to be poison."
[This has to do with a new character I will sign up for coming soon, so don't worry about that.]

"Wow!" Ed beamed at the compliment.
"Sweet."
Double D nodded. "That's what I was trying to tell you earlier... when I was, you know, a dog." He turned up to Mistress Yin. "In all due respect, Mistress, the jewel piece Otto currantly possesses... is mine. I know, because I recognize the rope it's wrapped in. I made it into a necklace to keep it on my person at all times and protect it. I was entrusted to it by a companion when we rescued a friend of mine..." he trailed off shyly.
(The thread I'm refering to is Psychic Investigation, btw, which is an older thread at the Fog Temple. It's in History>Complete now, just in case you wanna check it out.)

(Yeah, I figured that out on my own. Read the entire thread too, so I know what happened.)
Mistress Yin nodded. "Yes, I am aware of that also..." Thinks a moment, "Something about a friend losing his brain to a bunch of people with X's on their uniforms?" Seeing the surprised looks she was given, she giggled, "Sorry, if I surprised you... Very little escapes my attention, these days."
Otto looked down at the gem in his hand, his face shaded out, his expression unreadable. However, one could tell he was deep in thought...
Marco walked up to the boy, "You heard him, Otto. The gem is his kupo, you might as well give it back."
Only silence followed... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
"Wally..." came Otto finally, catching said boy's attention.
"Yes?"
That was the only thing said before something very surprising happened.
His face still unreadable, Otto turned to Wally, a chucked the jewel clean over to him. Eddy might have been able to catch it mid-throw, but the surprise of what had happened was too great for any of the present company.
Wally, being his reflexes were almost as fast as his element, caught the gem in his free hand, used to strangeness such as this.
This caught Mistress Yin by surprise most of all. "Otto!! What is the meaning of this?!?"
[Bare with me, Nintendo-Nut1, the answer will come. I warn you though, the next few posts will be something of a test on Double D's character, it will, and will also, of course, lead to that final struggle for the gem, just as I said.]

(don't worry, I know! ^^ Double D's trying to be diplomatic, but it'd be boring if they just handed it over. XD)
"What!?!" Eddy exclaimed, Ed gasping and Courage making a whine of confusion beside him. "Why you..!!"
"Relax, Eddy," Double D held him back, turning to fully face Otto. "...I think I know where he's going with this."

Otto readjusted the collar of his jacket and turned back to Double D... He was now giving the boy a stern glare. With scant a look, he pointed to Wally "Hold onto that Gem Wally, got it?" Wally nodded, before pocketing it.
With but a few moments, Otto crossed his arms. "Before any of you say anything... 'Yes'. You've told me your entire story, and yes, I understood everything said to me." He scoffed slightly. "Rest assured, any and all plans to destroy the gem has been thrown out the window, and I don't intend on bringing them back."
... ... ... ... ... ...
"HOWEVER..."
Otto's frown widened. "Riddle me this, Mr. Eddward... How come the gem in question; which YOU were supposed to guard, unless I'm mistakened... Find it's way out of your attention and into mine?" His frown turned into a thoughtful grimace. "You've got to admit, that factor does NOT help your case very well."
