Flight to the Caves

"About that...why DID you start dragging me?" Pir had to ask. "It was a little unexpected. Don't get me wrong, I really don't wanna deal with that Walrus guy again, but..."

Marco was more then sure he was growing to dislike The Walrus more and more with each passing second. "Riiiight... And asking you who you are, is punishable by a hit on the head, WHY exactly kupo?"

Wolt paused and blinked for a moment.

"...You know, I'm not quite sure about that myself. A knee-jerk reaction?" He smiled. "Besides, I really do like you, Lord Pit. I'd rather stomp off from The Walrus with you then stomp off alone."


"Well you all jus' deserve, now don'cha? 'Sides, 'ow's a bloke gonna 'ntertain 'imself otherwise, eh? Cricket my arse..."

Pit blinked a bit, then smiled. At least he was still appreciated. Not in the way he wanted, but still, he didn't want to seem needy. "...thanks, Wolt. That means a lot, really."

Marco was now looking at The Walrus with a confused expression. "........ What's Cricket kupo? Never heard of THAT before now."

Wolt smiled back and laced their fingers.

"Now, let's go explore these tunnels, hm?"



"Wot, nevah 'eard o' crickets?? Now I know all thems yankee schools ar' good fer are molestin' our dear an' near littluns." The Walrus shook his head in a mocking gesture of sadness and dissapointment, before setting about informing the unfortunate moogle in front of him. "Now y'see, the lil' buggers are a bit loik grasshoppahs, but a million times more annoyin'--really, guv'nuh, y' don' want one 'er those stuck in yer garage all summah, y'know wot I mean. Any way, if y' ever catch un an' 'appen t' 'ave one o' those microwaves 'round, yer in fer a lot o' fun indeed, I kid you not. Now, wot y' do her, sir, is..."

Comforted by the touch, Pt nodded eagerly. "Yes, let's!"

The moogle listened a moment as The Walrus explained the finer points of making a cricket blow up in the Microwave, before pulling away, gagging. "BLECK!! Now that's just WRONG, kupo!!" He spat a little bit before turning back to The Walrus. "For crying out LOUD, I didn't mean that kind of Cricket, kupo! The way you said it, you made it sound like some kind of game or something, and not a little bug."

And with that Wolt took off smiling, leading Pit by their still-joined hands.

"Oh, that Cricket." The Walrus rolled his eyes. "Why'd yew wanna learn 'bout that, ya daft bugger? 'S this bleedin' limey ball sport tha's almost twice as borin' as baseball, but without 'alf the over-compensation."

Pit's heart lifted considerably. Maybe... maybe with time...

Marco wasn't sure WHAT to make of that explanation, so he shrugged it off. With that done however, he took notice that Pit and Wolt were now gone. "Hmmm... Looks like those two I came across earlier are gone." A look at The Walrus reminded him as to why. "Though given the circumstances I understand why they would." With that said, he continued picking at the wall with his pick-axe, finally picking off a big chunk of crystal, which the moogle, with a wide smile, pocketed. "That should cover food bills for a year or so, kupo."

So far this trip had turned out pretty profitable; two small crystals to use for his friends wedding bands, another small, and another moderately big one to cover his own expenses. "Hmmm..." With that in mind, he picked up his Pickaxe and continued picking. "Probably just a few more kupo-po."

Wolt turned a right, following the dark passage until they reached a fork.

He scratched the back of his neck and gave the tunnels an annoyed look.

"These caves don't ever end, do they?"


"Yer' a greedy lil' bugger, intcha?" The Walrus remarked, leaning again one of the caves walls as he watched the small creature work. "Wot if this 'ere crystal were cursed, eh? Wotchoo gonna do then?" He then started to mutter about sadistic authors and boobytraps.

Needless to say, The Walrus enjoyed muttering quite a bit as much as he liked mumbling and hitting people with his cane, and went on for a while. Eventually he stopped after breeching the topic of hookers and meter-maids, but he still held a sullen look.

"Maybe... but I seem to remember the path sloping down as we went further. So if we ever get lost and need to find the exit, I'm sure if we walk uphill, we'll find our way out."

Marco was about to drop all pretenses of sanity and pull out his guns to fire off at The Walrus as he prattled on about stuff that didn't even make SENSE to him half the time, before he finally chipped off two decently sized crystal shards. "FINALLY kupo..." He picked up the two shards and pocketed them. "That should do it. Now to get back to my friends, we can have two of these crystals cleaned up for wedding rings, and the rest can cover our expenses until we can find some decent work."

His eyes traveled to where Pit and Wolt had disappeared a moment... "I wonder... Should we go after them? I agree that this place could be full of traps kupo... It never hurts to be too careful..."

"Onward, then!" Wolt joked, and took and arrow out of his quiver. He smiled at Pit.

"Shall we go where ever it lands?" he asked.




The Walrus looked over at him.

"Oh, yeah," he said. "If yer inta voyeurism, then yeah, le's get after 'em. If we hurry, Guv', we moight catch th' foreplay."

My new job's dragging me by the nose through the fucking mud, and this is literally the first day I've had were I wasn't working from 10:30 am until one at night. I have Tetris Syndrom, but instead of blocks falling I hear the voices of Americans who can't activate their radios ringing in my ears. now that training's pretty much over I should be getting back on a decent schedule, so please bear with me! <3 ]
