When he'd awoke earlier that day, Yusuke Urameshi had not expected to find himself on the dimensional island. Nor had he expected a fight with 'demons' mere moments after he'd stepped out of the portal. Nor had he expected to be forced to flee. But a meaningless battle wasn't what he needed at that moment. Not at all. So there he was, wandering through the Cemetery, fuming.
"Dammit. Why the Hell didn't Botan at least tell me what my case WAS before warping me here? The LEAST she could've done was tell me the place would be infested with Yokai." Yusuke spoke aloud, arms crossed in a huff.
And that's when he saw it. An eerie light of some sort, emanating from the graveyard itself. He was, currently, at the outer edges of it.
"Ah, what the hell? Can't be any worse than what I just left..."

The light Yuusuke had seen flickered a bit before flashing with the color of a loose soul. It was an extremely bright flash, comparable to staring down the "barrel" of a reigun.
For a split second, anyone that handed been blinded would have seen what could easily be described as a shining silver kyuubi. The tip of each of her nine tails pointed upwards just a tad, and a dark blue orb surrounded by lighter blue flame hovered just above each one. As the kyuubi stepped forward, the orbs faded from sight to all but the most spiritually sensitive. But the sleek silver fox remained.
In fact, Ginger was a shiny Ninetales. But not just that. She was also a kyuubi. One could have easily called her a yokai, although once upon a time she had merely been a shiny Ninetales with more spirit sense than usual.
The hairs on her back stood on end. This was not where she should be. It was a graveyard, yes, but it was not Mt. Pyre. She had guided a spirit to the land of the dead. She had bid it farewell on the next leg of its journey. She had known it was not of her world, but it had been the kind she was bound to guide, and she had fudged the rules a little bit by helping it. And now... she was in this world.
She looked up and saw a human boy. But he radiated a strange power... it was similar to the kind she sensed from spirits. Not quite the same. Possibly more powerful. But she had no doubt he could sense she was more than a Ninetales. She took as step foward and spoke, her voice slightly haunting. Gentle, yet firm.
"Human..."
She didn't want to scare the crap out of him, so she waited for his reaction.

Yusuke's eyes widened. Okay... so this was a BIT worse than what he'd just left... but it wasn't attacking. That was... that was new. The not being attacked bit.
"It... it's not attacking... what are my protocols for FRIENDLY spirits?" The boy thought to himself, staying firmly planted in the spot.
"Er... yeah, I'm human... and you're a THING. What of it?" A thing with a very high spirit energy emanating from it, at least.
"I'm... Yusuke Urameshi... spirit detective." Right. Better to at least let the thing know who he was, so it WOULDN'T attack.

Spirit.... detective? Ginger's stance didn't change a bit, but her mind was trying to figure that one out. She'd never heard of such a thing. But she knew the meanings of both words... was it possible her superiors had sent help?
"My name is Ginger. If you are a detective," she began to slowly walk forward. Her grace was of the same level as a certain youko Yusuke knew quite well, "Then are you here to help? This is not where I should be..."
Ginger was unsure how much this "detective" knew. But the mere fact that he had stood his ground... he wasn't a normal human. She believed him. She was still trying to figure him out, however. Until she knew more of him, she would not drop her guard.
About five feet seperated the two now. She stopped there. He may have been brave, but she had spooked too many humans in her life to accept what could be an excellent facade. He did not smell of fear, however. Baffled and annoyed, sure. Cautious, definently. But not fearful. It was as if he was trying to figure her out as much as she was trying to figure him.

"I'm... not entirely sure, actually. That idiot Botan... er... that 'spirit guide', Botan, sent me here. I wasn't briefed on my mission by her OR Koenma. Nor was I told that the place would be crawling with Yokai..." Yusuke mumbled the last part under his breath, standing as firm as he possibly could.
He had to admit. The ninetails was quite intimidating. He wasn't AFRAID of her, just... slightly intimidated.
"You... do know Koenma, right? Son of King Emma?" It was an odd question, yes, but it was possible that this strange creature had no idea who Koenma was.
In which case Yusuke would go into attack mode... bad idea was bad.

Ginger paused. Botan? Koenma? King Enma? What was this human babbling about? But it made her think more than ever she was in a world seperate from the two she knew.
She softly shook her head, "I know not of who you speak. But if this Botan is a spirit guide, I work under a similar office. So this King Enma and his son must be low ranking. My class may very well make them beneath me,"
Ginger had no idea who or what she had just insulted. Not in the slightest. It was a logical assumption from her standpoint. The spirit realm directly opposite of her world was different than the one opposite Yusuke's world. They were linked, as all spirit worlds (and as a result human worlds) were, but it was really a manner of paperwork at that point.

Yusuke paused. A long, long pause. Full of eye-twitching and mouth opening and closing. He wasn't so worried about Koenma, but KING ENMA, oh gosh King Enma. He could've killed them both NOW if he'd felt like it.
"You... do you REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE?! It's not so much the kid, but KING ENMA." Yusuke was beginning to freak out, now. It wasn't something he USUALLY did... but this was King Enma they were talking about.
"Wait, YOU insulted him, not me. DID YOU HEAR ME?! IT WASN'T ME THAT DRAGGED YOUR NAME THROUGH THE MUD, IT WAS THIS YOKAI." Yusuke pointed his face to the sky and exclaimed. Had to make SURE King Enma heard.
"Similar office to Botan? Oh lord... not another one..." The boy thought to himself after his freakout was finished.
"You... actually think Botan, BOTAN, has a higher position than... pffft... BAHAHAHAHAHAHA, OH, THAT'S RICH BAHA." He couldn't help himself. It was too... too FUNNY. BOTAN. Higher than KING Enma. Yusuke nearly DOUBLED OVER from laughter.
Hell. The author of this post nearly doubled over from the irony.

Had she made a mistake? Or had the human's mind just flipped? She paused. Perhaps this "King Enma" was his world's version of... it was a good thing she was silver. It meant that the blood draining from face, turning her skin bleach white... it meant it wasn't visible. If King Enma was the equivalent of Arceus... or worse... just another name for the god...
"P-please tell me... that isn't the name of the ruler of the spirit realm..." Ginger wasn't one to lose her cool very often.
As if to add cosmic irony to the situation, a thunderbolt clapped in the sky. Ginger, the normally calm and stoic Ninetales, practically jumped out of her fur.
"Forgive me!" she winced as if she expected the lightning bolt to come down from the heavens and smite the blashemer where she stood.

Yusuke himself had leaped from the burst of lightning. King Enma wasn't the type to take insults lightly. He backed away from the Yokai a bit. It would be rather horrifying if not for her response. It made him chuckle harder than it should have. He just HAD to milk it for what it was worth.
"Oh... oh yeah. He's the ruler of the spirit world. BUT DON'T WORRY. He punishes blasphemers by... making them lose all of their hair, though, in your condition, fur... that blast of lightning could've been a warning shot." Yusuke had an almost cat-like look on his face.
He was having much, much more fun than he should have been. Much more.
"He may even decide to leave you stranded here..." His last phrase, however, was in complete seriousness.

Well, Ginger's first reaction was utter terror. We're talking cornered animal jaw on the floor "omigodimgoingtodie" here. We're talking stick up your butt serious to total blank "huh" expression...
At least until the events surrounding the situation clicked in her head. He had been scared to death. Then he laughed. Then he jumped at the lightning. Now he was making threats in place of Arcues? Or King Enma? Or whatever!?
She was now glaring at him. Two could play at this game, "Well what did you do to piss Arceus-sama off? You say you got dropped here without any instruction? How do you know you weren't dumped here yourself?"
Of course, it wasn't the "haha" teasing Yusuke had been doing. No, it was a calm "rage" going on. And she was as serious with it as Yusuke had been with his. How dare this human, "spirit detective" or not, think he could insult her. The spirit energy that was inherent in her nature was flaring a bit in sync with her anger.

"Perhaps because I didn't insult the ruler of the spirit realm himself? Because I didn't assume that spirit guides were higher rank than King Enma, or even KOENMA, because I hadn't heard of them before? I have, but still." Yusuke still chuckled to himself.
"Although, I have to admit. I'm glad you're FINALLY ACTING ANTAGONISTIC. I thought this would take FOREVER. My fight with HIEI went faster than this."
Flaring of spirit energy. That wasn't exactly a good thing. But the boy had one Rei Gun left in him if he required it. And if push came to shove, he could substitute the Rei Gan for the Rei Gun. His gun hand, stuffed into his pocket, contorted into the usual shape. He had to be prepared.
"I didn't WANT to fight, by the way, but if you FORCE me to, however..." Yusuke trailed off, starting into the clouds for a moment. Watching as lightning flashed across the skies.
"...I won't hesitate to kill you." A clap of thunder followed his statement.

The whole world really was out to get Yusuke tonight. Here he was, all raring for a fight. But Ginger wasn't stupid. She felt his surge in energy just as much as he had felt hers. In fact, she looked away and closed her eyes, willing her flare up to go down.
"I don't want a fight... " With the energy down, she turned back to Yusuke, "I don't appreciate being insulted, but getting into a fight isn't going to be productive to either of us. And I must apologize. I took you for a normal human. But you obviously have more power than any I have ever met."

Yusuke was slightly disappointed, actually. He was so hoping for a fight. But it would seem that this Yokai had stolen a few leaves from Kurama's book...
"Don't abuse the words 'normal humans'. We humans are very good fighters. Except for maybe Kuwabara..." Yusuke trailed off for a moment, thinking.
"You wouldn't happen to know a guy named Kurama, would you?"

Ginger would have likely "tsked" at the good fighters line. But she knew she was walking thin ice with this human. So she held it in. The comment about this "Kuwabara" threw her, but she realized it wasn't important as he mentioned another name. Kurama?
She thought, "No, I can't say I do,"
She concentrated for a moment, and one of the concentrations of energy above her tail flickered. Of course, now the claim to not know Kurama wasn't going to fly very well. Because where the kyuubi had been standing was well-dressed woman with the same exotic oriental beauty of Kurama's youko form.
And while the woman had no fox ears, one of the tails from her true form remained. Complete with flickering orb of spirit energy, "I would like to come with you, Urameshi-san, if you will allow it. I go by Ginko Rei in this form."

"...Rei? REI?! Are you TRYING to make fun of me or something?" Yusuke quickly left rant mode, however.
He weighed his options. He could travel with this spirit guide with the mildly insulting name, or he could go it alone and possibly be killed. Of course, for the same reason he'd decided to team up with Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama, he chose the latter.
"Alright, fine. But if we run into any demons, evil villains, WHATEVER, I get first crack." Elaborate hand gestures and insulting names aside, this could work out well.
...or not. Either way.
