"I see no problem with that. My purpose is defense and guidance, not battle."
Besides, your powers have intrigued me. The chance to see them in action would benefit me immensely, the thought crossed her mind, but her expression did not change.
"I suggest we get out of this area. Our presences have stirred up some of the spirits and restless souls, and not all of them are nice."
Despite her suggestion, she seemed to be waiting for Yusuke to take the lead. His little fume seemed to have bounced off her. She was not fun like Hiei. Hiei would have gotten pissed. No, she seemed to be playing Miss Stoic to Kurama's Mr. Stoic. It was enough to make one think all kitsune yokai had no sense of humor.

"Hey! I don't take orders from nobody. That being said, I've decided that we should leave." Yusuke responded, heading back for the exit. Had to keep up the facade, after all. -- Unfortunately for the boy, luck was not on his side. Although, with how desperately he wanted a fight, it could have been a good thing. Depended on your outlook.
But as he stepped towards the gate leading to the rest of Void City, he came across a man. A man emitting a large amount of dark energy. A man with a look of pure hunger in his eyes. The man known as Hi'ar Pue'rtagero. But Yusuke didn't know that. No, no. It's not that he even CARED, for that matter.
A few hours earlier, the being had wandered back to the Cemetery. His 'dark master' had informed him that they could track the boy known as Jimmy if they found any droppings, such as dead skin cells or the like. Or even just soaking in the magic he'd left behind. But a force had brought the two here. A surge of spiritual energy. It had made the demon inside of him hungry.
"Are you... the two sending out all the energy?" Already the man was beginning to change form, growing, the demon inside of him coming out.
"And what if we are?" Yusuke asked, gun hand still in his pocket. The Rei Gun would be a good start. Something about this... thing made him want to keep it at a distance.
"I'm... hungry." And then he leaped, a shield of dark magic over him. He noted that the other one had a tail. The one thought that ran through his mind was that it'd be a PAIN to clean out of his teeth.

Ginko leapt back with far too much skill for an ordinary human as the creature charged. She hadn't sensed it coming. She blamed Urameshi. His energy output was messing with her normal perceptions of energy.
She had turned back to her Ninetales... no, her true form by the time she had landed, balancing on a gravestone like some odd gargoyle. Anyone would be able to see the orbs above her tails now. She wanted to let this dark creature know she was not a pushover.
But she wasn't willing to put the energy into her spirit attacks, something she sensed the human was. If he had the energy to spare, she'd let him. But she had powers of her own. She hadn't always been a yokai, after all. She had once been a Pokemon and still retained the abilities.
Somehow, though, fire seemed a bad idea, at least for now. She'd run in front of Urameshi if the demon tried a fire attack. After all, all but the most lethal of those increased her own firepower. Literally. And the lethal ones just hurt like hell rather than equalling instant death.
Urameshi was the one in danger, she could see that. So she sent energy his way. Not "spirit" energy, but an attack her world knew as Safeguard. She could at least prevent him from falling into an unnatural sleep, being burned, or the like.
(OOC: She just used Safeguard on Yusuke, although if he freaks about it he could use his own energies to block it. If he doesn't, it'll protect him from "status effects".)

Yusuke suddenly felt... tingly. He was sure the Yokai was doing something... just not WHAT. He reacted accordingly.
"I don't know what the hell you're doing, but it better be FRIGGIN USEFUL." Yusuke called back, not turning around. He had to focus, now. His hands were in front of him, held in the familiar 'gun' position.
Hi'ar's attack began. He opened his mouth, and a blast of energy left it. He was HOPING to put the boy to sleep, or at least slow him down. It failed, however. He didn't stop, he didn't question it, deciding it was because his magic was weak in this form. Not even considering the possibility of status attacks failing horridly.
Yusuke stared him down as he approached, finally releasing the built-up energy. It went directly past the creature's ear. Yusuke watched as it entered the clouds. It was a LARGE burst of energy. He'd actually been aiming for the creature, though he had a back-up plan.
"THAT'S FOR FORCING ME INTO THIS STUPID WORLD, BOTAN." Yusuke exclaimed to the heavens.
Hi'ar HAD to pause. Was... was the boy even AIMING for him. This, however, was Yusuke's plan. He moved in quickly, energy building in his entire body. He fired the Rei Gan...
...and nothing happened. Hi'ar stood there as if he HADN'T been hit by a powerful spirit attack. And then Yusuke noticed that his skin was slightly... glowing.
"I... expected more of a... challenge. Heh heh heh. If ssssspirit attackssssss are your only move, you and your companion are dead." Hi'ar hissed in that demonic voice of his.
"Hey, Yokai. If you want to run, now might be a good time for it. This fellow seems to have a spiritual shield of some sort around himself. If you can't handle it, I understand." He was bluffing, however. This... thing. He honestly didn't think he could defeat it on his own.
Especially considering it was on the move again and his back was turned...

Ginger was annoyed at his complete disregard for her help, let alone the fact that he was oblivous to it having saved his butt. She saw the demon heading towards Yuu. Some detective, not even capable of watching his own back. But as the case was, she didn't think she could fight the demon on her own. And the human suggested she flee!?
You had better appreciate this... she mumbled as she launched into the air.
Her speed would have rivalled Hiei as she used Quick Attack to shoot across the grounds and into the demon's side. She used it as a launching post and vaulted off. She hoped it would distract the demon away from Urameshi.
"Urameshi-san, how well can you avoid a hit?" she shouted. She didn't have time to explain why. She had a power that would allow her to confuse the opponent but it would double his physical attack power. Meaning if Urameshi got hit afterwards, it could very well kill him.
She didn't know how stupidly stubborn Yusuke could be. So she couldn't take that into account. But if she could use Swagger to confuse the demon, it might cause him to drop his spirit guard. All of that could be explained after she pulled off the move. Which depended on Urameshi's answer to her question.

As Ginger vaulted off of Hi'ar, he actually skidded to the side, missing Urameshi by an inch or so. He was even forced to stop his move forward. The sound he made, and the Yokai rushing past the boy's head, alerted Yusuke to it's presence. He leaped back a bit. What a bad idea it would've been to have just stood next to the raving demon.
"Hey, thanks for saving my ass, Yokai. I appreciate it."
...is what Yusuke SHOULD have said. Instead of what he ACTUALLY said.
"YOU COULD'VE TAKEN MY HEAD OFF. WHAT THE HELL? ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT EVIL?!" Yusuke exclaimed, going into another fit, waving his arms around and whatnot. He, actually, saw her next statement as a challenge.
"Good enough to dodge the next attack you use, I'll tell you that." Yusuke responded, a scowl on his face.
He didn't have time to say more, however, as Hi'ar was getting back to his feet.

"I guess I don't need your permission then," Ginger mumbled as she launched forward again.
The point of this attack was to piss the opponent off so much they put more effort into their physical attacks but payed less attention to what they were doing. So when she landed, she landed on the demon's back and said something particularly nasty. It was like a spell, no true translation, and did have a 10% chance of not working.
If it worked, Hi'ar would be very pissed, and twice as strong. Noticably so, even. But he would be as likely to punch himself in the face as hit Urameshi. And keeping concentration on any shield of his would be near impossible.
Of course, it could fail and Hi'ar could send her flying backwards in a very painful sort of way. Just saying.

"Heh, how disappointing..... it has passed 5 minutes and they still haven't defeated him." Bashton said with a chuckle as he was sitting on a tombstone next to Yusuke with a small silver watch ."You feeble creatures are getting weaker and weaker." he commented coldly as he jumped back behind the tombstone he was on and disappeared.

Instead of going all uber-angry-pants at first, Hi'ar simply fell over. In an attempt to crush the creature on his back. This didn't mean that he wasn't majorly pissed off, though. The demon found himself unable to control his thrashing extremities as got back to his feet. Every step he took, every punch that accidentally hit the ground, actually caused a small tremor.
"DAMMIT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU WERE TRYING TO KILL ME!" Yusuke yelled out, leaping back from a punch that had managed to hit near him.
He didn't know why, but... he felt the need to attempt the Rei Gun again. He felt like... like he had more than the four limit he'd always speculated. Was it this strange island? Did it empower him to send out another full-powered Rei Gun?
He didn't have time to think about it, Hi'ar seemed to be getting even MORE violent, if that was possible. He fired it at the being, his shield down. It connected, forcing him back. But still... still he lived. If ANYTHING, the Rei Gun had only served to piss him off even more. In fact, it had almost seemed like he'd PUNCHED IT away.
"DAMMIT." Yusuke could ONLY say this at this point. From the looks of it, nothing short of a full powered Rei Gan could kill this guy.
"HEY, YOKAI, IF YOU'RE NOT DEAD, D'YOU THINK YOU COULD DISTRACT HIM FOR ME?!" Yusuke yelled out. Sure Hi'ar was rapidly thrashing, but as long as he was facing Yusuke, it wasn't NEARLY safe enough to try for the Rei Gan.
That, and the fact that Hi'ar had punched himself in the face numerous times. Laughing in the middle of attempting the Rei Gan? He couldn't risk it.

Ginger limped away. She was bleeding a bit, and quite thankful she had four legs right now. The attack had worked, but the damn thing had gone off balance backwards. Even with her speed she had gotten one paw caught under its weight.
And then the good for nothing human had decided to say she was trying to kill him? Was this really worth the hassle? She hated to admit it, but it was. Humans rarely had signfiicant spirit abilities, and this guy was off the charts. That beam of his remarkably resembled one of her own attacks. But she couldn't risk the recovery time needed for it.
So she opened her mouth and shot out a beam of fire. As it rushed towards the opponent it took a shape that anyone who knew anything about kanji could recognize. It was the symbol for "fire" that shot towards Hi'ar. She hoped it would draw its attention to her... although with only three good legs, her speed would be drastically limited.
(OOC: One of the strongest fire attacks in the game. Fire Blast. Problem: Not all that accurate. XD 15% chance of missing. Of course, Hi'ar might just walk into it right now. XD)

Hi'ar merely had time to turn around before BAM. He was hit with a blast of fire. More of a LETTER of fire, really...
...and it hurt as bad as reading that pun did.
"GAH. IT BURNSSSSSSSSSSS." HI'ar yell-hissed. And so he changed course of direction, his back now to Yusuke.
The boy took this chance, charging at him, gathering spirit energy in his entire body. And he released it. A full-powered Rei Gan, point-blank range. And you know what happened? Guess. Go ahead. Guess.
IF YOU GUESSED NOTHING, YOU WIN THE PRIZE. Sure, Hi'ar was knocked a couple of feet forward and slightly singed, but other than that he didn't seem to even NOTICE the Rei Gan going off. Perhaps it was because of the move the Yokai had used, but... that didn't comfort Yusuke any.
And it seemed to be wearing off, anyway. His punches were becoming more well-placed. Not aiming for Yusuke, mind you, but the Yokai. He hadn't yet hit, but he had at least stopped punching his own face. And then suddenly the beast noticed the hit. And what it said sent chills up Yusuke's spine.
"Is that all you've got, Urameshi?" It didn't even HISS this time.
It reminded the boy too much of Toguro... he froze up on the spot. He was currently BEHIND it, so that was an okay place to freeze up, but... still...

This was not going well. Not in the least. Maybe if Ginger had grown up in your world, she would have realized that she had to get beaten to a bloody pulp to win a fight. That was the price of being on Yusuke's team, after all. But guess what? She didn't.
And of course being a spirit creature she was absolutely convinced she was better than Yusuke. She decided this had to be ended now. Surely it couldn't have that much more in it.
She planted her feet, using her claws to grip the ground. The orb on her middle tail pulsed, creating a ripple effect with the orbs of her other tails. This would kill her ability to use spirit based attacks for the next nine hours, but she had to try.
All the orbs transferred to the orb in her middle tail and a gigantic burst of spirit energy rather comparable to a rei gun shot out from her tail. Well, if reiguns looked like some kind of Godzilla light beam. Then the comparison totally fit. She wouldn't have time to dodge a return hit, so if the demon attacked her after this she'd be flung to another side of the field like a rag doll.
And Yusuke, being Yusuke, would likely call her an idiot. One could tell they were going to be SUCH good friends.

At the very least, she'd managed to push him back farther than Yusuke's spirit attacks. However, he was still standing, and very much alive. He, in fact, still had enough energy to fire a RETURN blast out of his mouth. One of pure electricity. One fired a quarter of a second after he was hit with the spirit energy. Yeeeaaahhh...
"YOU IDIOT! IF MY REI ATTACKS DIDN'T WORK, WHY WOULD YOURS?" Yusuke exclaimed from his position. It was when he didn't hear a response the he began to panic a bit. He COULD HAVE just been out of earshot, but... still...
He began to run to where she'd seemed to have been flung, when he felt a claw slash his back. It hurt like hell. But he couldn't focus on that, right now. He was aware that the beast was behind him...but for some reason, he couldn't have a dead Yokai on his hands. Even if she was annoying. Perhaps it was because of Kurama.
And then he felt a foot connect with his abdomen as he was flung forward. It sent him flying. He didn't take the fall too well, either.
"Guh... Yokai?" The boy called out. He looked up. There was a large, large blast of fire heading his way. With the position he was in, dodging was out of the question. His arms were locked down at the moment, he couldn't use is Rei Gun.
"Heh... good fight..."

Ginger had blacked out momentarily. And if anyone had stumbled upon her they would have said she was dead. A pool of blood was forming at her head. The shining silver fur had splotches of a sickening red to them. She wasn't actually bleeding in that many places, but the way she had quite literally bounced after getting hit by the electric attack had caused the places she was bleeding to hit other parts of her fur.
No, she wasn't bleeding. On the outside at least. She had internal bleeding going on. She woke up as Yusuke finished his little shout. She was instantly aware of the situation, but jumping to her feet was out of the question. So she carefully worked her way up. Her hurt arm... it was shattered. It bent in all sorts of disturbingly wrong ways. She felt her tails brush against something and looked. What the hell?
A sword was sticking out of the grave. If she had been in less pain she might have thought it odd. But what was the oddest was that one of her tails still seemed to have power. Combined with the sword...
She felt a surge of energy and carefully turned her head. Fire. Large fire. Headed straight for the boy. She wasn't able to sense humans, but she had the feeling it wasn't his time to die. And when people died wrong, Arceus wasn't happy. Something to do with the paperwork she never had to see due to her post. All of this flitted through her mind in a second. Short sword. Tail working. Front left arm hurt.
She didn't really have any other choice, did she? She focused her energy and felt the immense pain at draining power she technically didn't have to spend. She grabbed the sword with her good arm and ran forward. She was in human form... spirit attacks didn't work. But maybe... just maybe...
She leapt into the air. Her back legs corresponded to her human legs and they were fine. She used a gravestone to launch off and let gravity do the rest. She was going to try and drive the sword between the shoulder blades of the demon. And hold on for dear life.
A spirit stirred where she had pulled the sword...
(OOC: I'm making a new OC ASAP for that sword she just disturbed. XD)

At this point, there was only one thought flashing through Yusuke's mind. One thought that summed up how he felt. Why?
"...why? Why do you... why are you so adamant on protecting me? This... stupid human? Why is it that when my life was on the line, you were willing to put YOURS in danger just to help me? Why, with a broken arm, did you just jump at the thing to save ME of all people? Why... why do you have to remind me so much of all my friends back home?" Yusuke thought, forcing his arms free. He wasn't completely able to stand, however, and fell forward this time.
"Why... why did you... why won't you... WHY DO I CARE SO MUCH, DAMMIT?! WHY?!" By this point, Yusuke was at near hysterics. He didn't know WHY he cared so much. He just DID.
Hi'ar wasn't having the best of times, either. The more he thrashed, the more the sword seemed to dig into him. The pain was intense, more than it SHOULD have been...
And then there was a bright light. He'd forgotten the boy. A burst of full powered Rei Gun struck him. He forced his arms up in an attempt to block it, but... he couldn't defend against the sword stabbed into him AND the Rei Gun. He was good, however, in this stance. It was troublesome.
Yusuke forced another arm forward. Hi'ar, for the first time, widened his eyes. Was he going to? No... NO. He couldn't! There'd be no way for him to...
He wasn't able to finish his thought, however, as another Rei Gun fired from Yusuke's free hand. It struck the beast. He was no longer able to block. It enveloped him. He felt as if his body was being ripped apart, and then... then it was over. Hi'ar Pue'rtagero collapsed, seemingly dead...
"...why? Why is it... that I... didn't die?" Yusuke asked aloud, pretty much out of it. He wasn't completely passed out, just in a state of being half-conscious.
