The first thing that happened was the light swords drawing to a single point just in front of Atem before vanishing. Atem drew a card and spoke, "Our realities handle monsters differently, it seems."
Again with the not lie but not truth business.
"We seem to be lost... I can't keep this going up forever," Atem said. He was referring to the fact that once he ran out of cards, the game would be "lost". He didn't know how much time the dimension required him to "rest" between "games". "Black Magician, how is it going with finding a way out?"
"The disturbances seem to be focusing on a room over there," Black Magician pointed with his staff.
Atem nodded, "Right. Black Magician knows his magic. You might want to stick close, I'm still not sure what the rules on this hotel are."
Rules. Leave it to Atem to use a game term. He held up a card, face foward. It read "Ikkakujuu no Hôn". The light moved to the Black Magician and its helmet shifted shape. A horn now rose from the area roughly in front of his forehead.
(OOC: Translated, the name is the same in the dub and Japanese version. "Horn of the Unicorm")

"Joy," K1 said with mock enthusiasm. He turned to Jack Frost. "Hey, Jack Frost, keep on guard, okay?"
"Hee-ho! Will do, hee!" the demon responded.
The two of them stood behind Atem and waited. It took a few moments, but at that moment, K1 finally realized that they were from different Japans, because Atem had let slip that they were from different realities, from the comment he made. Oh. That explains a lot, K1 thought to himself. Well, that was stupid of him to think. No wonder Atem kept playing with his cards. He was from a reality that didn't have COMPs, but from a reality where playing cards had power.
Midori would still probably understand what the heck was going on here a lot better than K1 could.

Atem drew a card and then motioned to Black Magician, who opened the door.
"There's something in here all right, and more than just a disturbance..."
Something Atem couldn't make out leapt at Black Magician, who held up his staff. He pulsed with energy, getting a boost from the horn on his helmet. Atem didn't worry about the magic user. In terms of the game Black Magician as at 3200 ATK, nothing to laugh at.
(OOC: Okay, what I have in mind is there is a malfunctioning COMP thingy in the room, causing the demon to attack anything that enters it. I don't know if this can work in your character's setting as I don't know it.
Chances are BM can defeat it, but if you want to make it REALLY strong, go ahead. 3200 is, as Atem thought, nothing to laugh at and an attack on two ATK Positioned monsters would compare their attacks. If they are equal, its a standstill. If its greater, have BM destroyed, Atem will be hurt. If its less, have the random monster sent back to its computer thing. XD)

((OOC: That actually fits quite well with DeSu, as the malfunctioning COMPs DO summon demons randomly in game. Hence if Black Magician can take out the demons guarding it, K1 can get to the COMP and shut it off, thus stopping the onslaught of demons.))
A large, yellow demon jumped out at Black Magician, snarling madly. The demon was a large yellow beast of sorts, with the body of a dragon, but with the torso of a man. Its head was that of a boar, and it wore royal regalia not unlike that of a king. K1 automatically recognised it.
"That's an Orcus!" He realized, and looked past the giant monster, while the Orcus tried to attack Black Magician. The Orcus' attack power was nothing to laugh at either, with having amazingly high attack power for a monster of its level, though with horrendous defense AND a weakness to physical attacks. Past the demon was a malfunctioning COMP. K1 turned to Atem.
"Yuugi, take that guy down while I deactivate the COMP," K1 said.

Atem nodded. Black Magician's eyes widened and it disappeared in flash of light. The Orcus continued on and smacked into Atem. He managed to tighten his hands on his cards not to drop them, but the arm not holding the cards was bleeding. He pushed himself up and threw two cards down in front of him, only one face up.
The kanji on the face up card read ”Þ•û‚©‚ç‚̉r¥ and a light appeared out of nowhere, flew to the card, and it burst out. Atem and the presence beside him were surrounded by the light swords from before.
The face down card vanished and formed another "presence" near Atem.
(OOC: Okay, the Orcus can't attack for the three turns. Atem used a card called "Aria from Beyond" but I don't know if that's the English or Japanese name, hence the pasted kanji. The card can take the effect of any removed from play spell card, hence the Sealing Swords of Light effect.
However, if the Orcus considers K1 a seperate opponent, it could always go after him instead. After the Orcus' next action Atem can go again. He currently has four cards in his hand.)

Unfortunately, the Orcus spotted K1 too, and attacked him, hitting K1 with a move that could only be described as "brutal," breaking his arm. Pulling himself off the ground, K1 kicked the Orcus, while Jack Frost used an ice spell to attack the Orcus, which, unfortunately, didn't do much damage. The Orcus snorted and looked between K1 and Atem for a few minutes.
"Ow," K1 mumbled. "Jack Frost, use Dia, please."
"On it, hee-ho!" The ice demon moved towards K1 and held his hands up to K1's arm. Jack Frost's hands glowed, and K1's arm snapped back into place with a sickening crunch.
"Ugh, I always hate that," K1 said before running up and snatching the COMP. "Finally. Alright, just take out this guy and we're done."
((The ingame move is literally called Brutal Hit, and IIRC, it's a high power attack move. Either that, or it's a critical hitting move. However, it casts from HP instead of MP, which means the Orcus should be close to death by now\.))

(OOC: Yay for conflicting franchises. XD It works for now)
Atem closed his eyes for a moment and drew a card. K1 was in trouble, he needed something good. The cards had always come through for him before...
And this time was thankfully no different. He threw down a card face up. The kanji read, "Shisha Sosei". It lit up and Black Magician materialized. He threw a card in Black Magician's direction, and the magician seemed to pulse with a new energy.
"Take care of it!" shouted Atem.
Black Magician pointed his staff at the Orcus, who all but exploded into nothingness by the force of the energy shot from the staff.
(OOC: Atem used "Raise Dead" aka Monster Reborn to bring back Black Magician and "Pump Up" to double it attack.)

K1 switched off the device, and let out a sigh of relief. "Phew. That's done for." He was still wondering why there was another COMP in the area, but that wasn't important at the moment. He was about to pocket it when he noticed Atem, and instead held the COMP out to him.
"Here," K1 said. "I've already got one anyways."

Yuugi, although not visible to anyone but Atem and his monsters, seemed very excited about the item. Atem wasn't sure, but to satiate Yuugi's interest and not arouse too much suspicion, he accepted it. No thank you, however.
It was then that whatever forces allowed Atem's cards to function in this world decided the game was over. The cards vanished from his hand, as well as all spells and monsters active on his "field". If any attention was being paid to his deck pouch, it was suddenly at full capacity once more.
Since both teens sensed the danger was over, Atem let Yuugi return to the dominant personality. The visible effect of this was a personality shift that made it seem like "Yuugi" got shorter, he held himself more reserved, and his eyes softened.
"Thanks!" Now the thanks came, from the softer voice of Yuugi.
Seeing as how the effect was from a powerful artifact that had required many deaths to create and as a result qualified quite well as "dark", it would not have been out of the question for any demons active in the area to pick up on something shifting.
(OOC: Aka Jack. XD)

Jack Frost definitely picked up on the change, but didn't comment on it, other than a "Hee-ho!"
"No prob. Do you want me to explain how it works?" K1 asked. He also noticed Yuugi's voice changing too, but he didn't comment either, mainly because he, again, had seen weirder things already. It was probably a case of demonic (or angelic) possession.
"Well, we should probably find our way downstairs," he said, and started walking.

"It's like a game right? Or does it always hurt you?"
Yuugi had to admit, as much as he liked games he'd experienced enough life threatening ones for two lifetimes. Atem wanted to facepalm over the bad joke inherent in that thought.
(OOC: Well... demonic possession kind of fits. Especially early on when Atem is running around causing people's minds to figuratively implode. Mind Crush, wheee! XD)

(XD Mind Crush.)
K1 raised an eyebrow. "No, it doesn't hurt you. I mean, in a way, it can, but it's indirectly, and only the modded COMPs do it anyways. But, it's basically a sorta cellphone, sorta email, and sorta internet browser. First, open it up and put in your username."

Yuugi went to flip it open with his non-dominant hand and winced. He looked over at the cut in his sleeves and saw the dried blood from when Atem had been hit by the Orcus earlier. He hadn't even noticed it! Atem hadn't let on and Yuugi was so concerned about K1 that he had missed it. He felt terrible.
As tends to happen with wounds, now that he knew it was there it hurt a lot more. While still keeping ahold of the COMP, he covered it up and winced.
Atem looked concerned as he looked at his own torn sleeve. Sometimes he forgot that they shared a body. He hadn't even thought about the pain Yuugi would feel when he resurfaced. The wound wasn't really that severe, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a doctor to look at it. The rules of this world functioned differently. Life Points were a matter of life, not scorekeeping.
As for outside interpertation, it could easily be passed off as the adrenaline from the encounter finally fading.
(aka I forgot I hurt Atem. XD)

"And then, using the Demon Auction, you can-- Oh." K1 took a look at the injured arm. "Jack Frost, could you fix that?"
"Hee-ho! Sure thing, boss!" Jack Frost said, and ran over to Yuugi before using Dia on his arm to heal it.
"You doing alright?" K1 asked.

Yuugi stumbled backwards a bit as Jack's over enthusiasm rushed at him, but a huge grin replaced the surprise.
"Yeah, I'll be fine! Thanks!"
"That's certainly useful..." Atem told Yuugi.
Yuugi flipped open the COMP, "I'm not all that great with computers, really. I've had a few bad experiences with them."
Like Noah. That was scary! thought Yuugi.
Yuugi inputted Mutou Yuugi in kanji into the computer, "Like this?" he asked as he showed the screen to K1.
