"Yeah, like that." K1 said. "Your COMP should be operational now. Alright, hand it to me; I'll register my COMP in yours so we can contact each other over distances. You can send me mail and stuff using it too."

Yuugi gladly gave the machine to K1. It really was a lot like Duel Monsters, at least with the Duel Disk improvements Kaiba had made. Well, without the Ancient Egyptian roots.
"Do you know who came up with this and how?" asked Yuugi.
It was more than a matter of comparison. He loved hearing about the roots of games. He remembered Ryuji coming up with Dungeon Dice Monsters and how Pegasus had worked with him to make it a reality.

K1 thought about it. "I don't know who made the originals, but my cousin Naoya made the altered COMPs. He was the one who figured out how to make them summon demons."
He didn't go into more detail than that. It was a bit of a sore point, and it was Naoya's fault in the first place that Tokyo got locked down. Or rather, it was the Shomonkai's fault, because they were the ones who had asked him to make the altered comps in the first place.

Yuugi heard the slight shift in K1's voice and decided to leave it at that. He certainly didn't want to prod. He flipped open the belt pouch and held the deck up.
"Industrial Illusions made Duel Monsters, although Kaiba Corporation has helped make a lot of improvements. I2 is owned by a man named Pegasus J. Crawford. He got the idea for the game from Ancient Egypt. Seto Kaiba runs Kaiba Corporation." said Yuugi.
He put the cards back in their pouch after he was finished introducing the game, "Its really popular in Japan even though it started in America. I think the tournaments had a lot to do with that."

K1 nodded. "Do they have magical powers there too, or did they only start doing that when you got here?"
At least K1 was finally warming up to Yuugi. He usually didn't talk to people, but there was something he liked about the spiky haired boy. It took his mind off things, too. Like how he was supposed to die in two days.
Speaking of which, he couldn't see Yuugi's Death Clock, which meant that he wasn't going to die anytime soon. That was a relief.

"They're all run with computers and holograms and stuff back home. I was really really surprised when my.. I mean, they acted like that.
Yuugi had almost said "When my other self got them to act like this" but he caught himself. He quickly looked away. Atem didn't want to be revealed, and he wanted to respect his friend's wishes. And Yuugi tended to wear his emotions on his sleeve, so he knew he couldn't look K1 in the eyes at the moment.
(OOC: Nuuu. ;_; Don't kill him. ;_;)

(The Death Clocks can be changed. In fact, it's the whole point of the game: to survive when your Death Clock runs out.) K1 didn't say anything else. It was probably best not to pry. He could tell that Yuugi was hiding something, but if he pried, he'd probably never find out what it was. Yuugi would probably reveal it in due time. Finally finding the stairs, K1 looked down them. Hopefully the place wouldn't screw up again like it had.

Yuugi walked down a few steps before turning back and gesturing to K1. He was back so smiling. K1 hadn't seemed to notice his slip-up, so things were okay.
Atem knew otherwise, and was a little surprised K1 hadn't figured it out. But he had never been one to hand an answer to people, so he let both his partner and K1 keep their current thoughts.
There was a number at the stairs indicating they were on the 3rd floor and going downstairs woudl take them to the 2nd.
(OOC: If you wanna insert more action, feel free. I like these "slow character growth" sections just as much as the battle scenes. X3)

K1 had decided that Yuugi was possessed by some sort of demon, or at least was in coexistance with one. Which worked out, as the demons typically left the body once they were finished with what they were trying to do. Most likely, this "other Yuugi" (which would be the best thing to call it for now, since K1 had no idea what kind of demon it was) was benign, and wouldn't hurt anyone.
Hopefully.
As he climbed down the stairs, K1 noted how quiet the hotel was. "It must be pretty late, if no one's out of bed."

(OOC: I hope you don't mind me abusing Atem's observational skills a bit. XD)
Atem turned his head towards K1. Something in his eyes indicated some kind of click. He had to smile to himself, and even though he was fully aware K1 couldn't see him, he gave a slight nod. It wasn't really meant to be a confirmation, but more like Atem's version of an "atta boy".
"It was dark when I got here," Yuugi caught himself yawning, "And I'm not used to staying up that late. You're probably right.
Yuugi pushed open the door at the bottom of the flight of stairs, revealing a hall full of doors with the the number two in front of each one.
(OOC: Demon... well, kind of. Bakura had more of a demon problem going on than Yuugi. I had some ideas for how the Sennen Items should work in the RP, maybe I'll sign up for Bakura and use those ideas. X3)

K1 looked at all of the doors. "I guess our rooms were on the second floor anyways." He looked at the closest door. It was Room 275. It looked like it would still be a bit of a walk to the hotel rooms.
He looked back, and noticed Jack Frost was still following behind. I guess I have to manually return him to the COMP here, K1 thought, and pulled out his COMP.

Yuugi was almost dizzed by how long the halls were.
"This is one of those places that's bigger on the inside than on the outside, huh? Hey, what are you doing?"
Yuugi just noticed K1 pull out his COMP. He looked back at Jack, who was just floating there. It must have been cool being able to talk with a summoned monster the whole time you knew them.

"Returning Jack to my COMP. I can't have him wandering around without me knowing," K1 explained, and pressed a button. With a "Hee-ho!", Jack Frost disappeared back into the COMP. K1 sighed and moved to close the COMP, when he saw his reflection in the screen.
The death clock above his head read 1. And it was 23:30, meaning that in about thirty minutes, his death clock was going to read zero.
...I thought coming here changed my fate? Uh oh... K1 thought to himself.

Yuugi wasn't one to pry. He hated making people uncomfortable and forcing them to say things when they didn't want to. However, every once in a while people would get this look in their eyes that said something had to be said. K1 had that look now, with his COMP half closed and his eyes on some distant place, even if they were facing in a nearby direction.
"What's wrong?"
Atem walked over and looked at the screen. He didn't see anything unusual, at least not that couldn't be explained by everything that had occured so far. But he was picking up on the concerned pause just as much if not more than Yuugi. He did pick up on something that Yuugi hadn't. A feeling of resignation or hopelessness? He couldn't pin it down but it wasn't positive.

K1 closed the COMP and looked away. "It's nothing. Forget about it." He looked back at Yuugi. He couldn't get anyone else involved, then. If Yuugi started travelling, or even hanging out with K1, then it could change his fate too, and Yuugi's Death Clock would go down to zero too. And whatever it was that was going to kill K1 the next day, he had to fight back, at least. But he couldn't get anyone else involved.
He wondered how he was going to die, then. The COMP hadn't been recieving Laplace Mails since he arrived on the island, but maybe one would arrive tomorrow. If K1 at least knew how he would die, then he could try to prevent it. But if he didn't, then he was just a sitting duck.
