K1 shrugged. "I have no idea. That's just--"
"Welcome, welcome! We're having a sale on Yu-gi-- er, 'Duel Monsters' cards today! 50% off per booster pack!" called the shop owner. He whispered something to Yuugi, though it was likely the spiky-haired teen didn't hear it. "75% off for the King of Games himself."
K1 looked over at the shop owner. "Yuugi, I think that old man's talking to you."

Yuugi felt rather overwhelmed by the attention and took an unconscious step back. He didn't like being swarmed like this. He looked mildy terrified at the man, and indeed didn't hear the man's whisper. The only people in his world that were this interested in him... well, it didn't ever end well. His mind thought first of Kaiba, then Yami Bakura. Malik as well. Okay, it basically came down that if they wre this obssessed with him, it was a bad thing.
Of course, this was conflicting with his interest in the store. And he'd seen his grandfather act like this on occasion towards potential customers. He swallowed hard and was about to attempt to ask a question when his eyes widened.
"The other me...?"
He'd thought... but... was it just his imagination? Those outside of Yuugi's mind would see the boy had seemed to disconnect from the world, and K1 might be able to piece together the reason for the wide eyes and sudden abandonment of the situation around him.

K1 caught that look, and stepped in front of Yuugi. "Alright, give the kid a break. Just because he happens to look like the guy on the poster doesn't mean he actually is."
"B-But we're having a tournament today!" the shop owner stuttered out. That I just added to the schedule. he added in his mind. "It could boost sales considerably!"
K1 groaned. "What do you think?" That question was directed toward whoever was in control now. It was possible Atem was awake again.

As K1 talked, Yuugi's expression changed to one of pure relief. It took a few moments after K1 asked his question for the teen's eyes to clear and look up, "I do know tournaments can help sales... But I don't know about the rules,"
It was definently still Yuugi, but it was as if some kind of ten ton weight had been lifted off his shoulders. But he had a point. This was another world and it was pretty clear that the cards differed here. Midori had mentioned something about GX, and with how quickly Industrial Illusions and Kaiba Corporation were known for releasing cards, it was possible there were many he didn't know about.
"Don't forgot the logo on that poster. I don't know any company by the name Konami," Atem, who had indeed surfaced and gotten his bearings thanks to the conversation only he and Yuugi could hear, had taken the opportunity to look at the poster.
"And I don't know the logo. Mine are made by Industrial Illusions..." Yuugi said as he trailed off.
(OOC: Also, I'm not that great at the game, especially releases past the Duel Monsters anime. So yeah... this will require a lot of fudging if it occurs. And a constantly open Yuugiou wikia
If you're concerned about the cards, I think they can be willed into not being truly summoned, and only ones from Yuugi's world can even be done in that manner.)

((OOC: I'm not that good at the game either. D: ))
K1 looked back at the poster. "That's a good point. These cards seem different from the ones I've seen you use."
He looked back at the shop owner. "I think we'll pass on the tournament."
"B-But... the sales..." the shopkeeper stuttered. "We've even got a special card as a prize!"

"He's trying to manipulate us..." Atem spoke to Yuugi's mind.
"I know, but I do want to see that card... and I don't want his business to suffer or anything..."
"Partner, I don't think this is the time for being polite. He's the sort that would capture one of our friends to get what he wants. However, I can check out the situation of you are that interested,"
It was likely a good thing that K1 stood between Yuugi and the shop owner. It meant said shop owner at least couldn't see the shift in the stance of the spiky-haired teenager as Atem took dominance. The first thing the did was look at K1 and give a thumbs up. It was small and the shop owner couldn't see it, but the Pharaoh was trying to reassure K1 that he was alright. He then stepped past K1 so he could look the shop owner in the eyes, which was probably a bit intimidating.
"I'll be the judge of that. I assume we're allowed to see it?"
(OOC: Okay, you wanna go for one that would have been out at the time of the Duel Monsters anime or something from GX or 5Ds? If we want Atem or Yuugi to be able to read it easily, it'll need to be Japanese.
If you want to avoid the tournament, make it something like a Konami Release God Card. Atem'll know its not "real" in that sense (legit from our world and real in his are two different things) and move on. I say we go for Ra if we go that route, as its the only one K1 hasn't seen.
Course, we could always foreshadow Seto and make it a Blue Eyes, White Dragon - 1st Edition Japanese, but Konami release so it doesn't have the "power" beyond being a rare card. If you want me to decide for you, just have the shop keeper agree to show Yuugi. XD)

((OOC: You can decide. I was actually thinking Exodia earlier today. XD That way it would most definitely be rejected.
And in advance: SHORT POST AHOY!))
The shopkeeper flinched when Atem glared at him. It seemed he'd made the teen mad, or at least that's what he'd thought. He didn't even watch the show these cards were based off of. "O-Of course! Just let me go back and get it." The shopkeeper waddled off behind the desk.
K1 stayed silent and watched the shop owner.

(OOC: Hmm, foreshadow or freak K1 out... XD I say no to Exodia as it consists of five cards. I think I'm gonna go with Ra, merely because its a quicker turn down that Blue Eyes, White Dragon would be - And I see fans tend to covet the God Cards more. Its a promo as opposed to an Ultra Rare, for that matter.)
Atem turned to K1, "I'm sorry, I think I worred both of you. I'm not sure myself why I was out for so long." The fact that the Pharaoh was apologizing meant he was more concerned about the development than one might have otherwise thought. At least he didn't say "sumimasen".
The teen turned back towards the shop when the owner came out. He held a hard plastic case, the type used to seal and often value rare cards. He flinched a bit when he saw the teen was still upset. It was actually Atem's opinion of the collecting but not using of cards in the game. However, he seemed to get angrier when he saw the front of the card.
"Is that...?" Yuugi's eyes were wide.
"It's merely a copy, I have the only one in existance. However, it's enough to turn him down," Atem told Yuugi in his mind, but the outside world saw him getting rather mad.
"You can forget it," he said as he walked off. He hoped K1 would get the message and follow after him. He'd need to explain the reaction if K1 saw the card.
For it was a Japanese promo card, often coveted by fans and not allowed in real world Tournament play. In fact, most players outright disallowed it altogether, the proper rule as indicated by the text saying it was not to be used in the game.
The kanji and kana on the front read "Raa no Yokushinryuu" or "Winged God Dragon of Ra". The name would probably set K1 on edge too, and while he wouldn't know this for sure, he had now seen all three of the God Cards. At least in one form or another.
If the shopowner pleaded, Atem made no indication of hearing him. The man had a lot of inner darkness and if he still did that kind of thing, would have considered coming back later for a Game of Darkness. The man was lucky Yuugi's personality had rubbed off on Atem so much over their time together.

K1 felt somewhat nervous at the card, but it did look like a normal card, and didn't look the same as the ones Yuugi and Atem carried, as well. It was minor differences, but they were enough. Plus, there was Atem's reaction to the card. In any case, he followed the teen outside the store.
"Well, that was a..." He sighed. "That was odd. In any case, it's good to see you awake, Atem. Why did you leave so quickly, though?"

Atem looked up. Inwardly he was a bit surprised K1 was asking about the God Cards, but he realized it was probably because he didn't know he was asking about the God Cards. He realized it quick enough to prevent a reaction.
"It was a copy of one of the God Cards. It's possible the world it originated from doesn't have the same rules in relation to their power, but those that copy the cards have been known to be smited," Atem stated. He waited for K1's response from there.
He knew it was possible K1 would clam up over the issue of gods being brought up again. Let alone things like smiting. Atem thought of the question of "if its not from your world is that a risk" being brought up as well. He could put the pieces together and come upon that if the God Cards were in this world, their powers could be accessed and they could rage on those that tried to duplicate them. He wasn't sure K1 could, however.

K1 flinched at the word "smited." Well, at least Egyptian gods weren't prone to killing with floods, right? Well, no one said K1 had ever payed attention in Geography class. Especially considering the flooding of the Nile and all of that fun related to it.
"In any case, we should get going," he said. "We were on our way to get some new clothes, since we both really, really stink." K1 wasn't completely sure Yuugi had filled Atem in quite yet, so he figured that he might as well explain why they were at the mall.

Atem noticed K1 flinch, but chose to leave it alone. He nodded when K1 mentioned the clothes. Yuugi had been trying to fill him in, and still was. About the event with the COMPs, which had worried Atem a bit what with the cards almost being lost, and other things. At some point Atem knew he was going to have to corner K1 into talking about his world. It was fairly obvious any problems there weren't effecting thie Island.
Atem noticed K1 was walking right past the clothes in his inward thoughts, and cleared his throat and pointed. Once he got K1's attention the stance shifted, indicating a shift in dominance. There wasn't really a need for Atem to be active right now, and while it wasn't obvious he was still a bit worn.

K1 looked back, and realized he'd passed the store. "Oh. Right. Let's go, then."
The inside of the shop mostly contained old, used clothing, which made sense, since it was a thrift store. Most of the clothing was things that, despite looking rather large for the teen, would fit right into K1's wardrobe, and would look rather out of place in Yuugi's.
K1 himself had gravitated over to a rack filled with sweaters, which, amazingly enough, all resembled the one he was wearing at the moment, which said more about his wardrobe than it should have. The fact that he was wearing a sweater in the middle of summer (though it was nearly fall now) was bad enough. The fact that he was about to buy a whole bunch more? Insane.

Yuugi nodded quickly, and was picking through the children's section of the store. As he expected, they had anime and cartoon characters. T-shirts and shorts. Not generally in his range of style.
And as if things weren't bad enough, a store clerk came up to him, "Is your mother here? We don't like children being unescorted in the store."
Yuugi felt like facepalming. Anzu would have ripped the clerk a new one while giggling. Jounouchi and Honda would have sweatdropped. As it was, he was isolated from K1, whose reaction to this kind of situation he wasn't quite sure of. Probably try to defend him seeing at how he acted at the store. Yuugi was digging in his pocket, and he knocked out the pouch with fifteen cards, scattering them on the ground. He sighed as he leant over to pick them up, holding up a wallet with his Domino High Student ID displayed.
Most of the kids at his school didn't bother carrying their school ID, but Yuugi knew from experience it was often the only way to prove he was sixteen. The woman blinked at the kanji on the card, but saw what appeared to be the age. She pointed, "Is this fake?"

K1 held up a couple sweaters, which all looked identical to the one he was currently wearing, when he heard Yuugi's plight from across the store. He quickly put the sweaters back on the rack before running on across.
"Something the problem here?" K1 asked.
