((OOC: Myself and Mugen for now. Knowledge of Katekyo Hitman Reborn not REQUIRED, I'd think, but it would be a plus. Ask one of us and we'll discuss it over IM if you want in))
-FLASHBACK- It had started as an otherwise normal day for young Tsunayoshi Sawada. After the event with the battle for the Vongola Rings, he'd assumed things would more or less quiet down. Then again, when Reborn was involved, things were NEVER quiet. This was a lesson he would soon learn.
He and his vertically challenged home tutor had gone to give a farewell to Lancia and Basil. Both were, of course, returning to Italy. Each for their own reason. The trouble started, however, when Lambo decided to make an appearance. He and Reborn got into their usual antics, all culminating with Lambo, as usual, pulling out the 10-year bazooka to fire himself into the future. However, oddly enough, Reborn interrupted him, hitting Lambo square between the eyes with a VERY large rock. This threw his aim completely off. So, instead of LAMBO being fired into the future... Reborn was.
Tsuna, of course, expected Reborn from the future to return. Oddly enough, though, no one was left in the spot Reborn had just been. He'd just... disappeared. Tsuna wrote it off, however, assuming he'd be back in five minutes, as per the course. It was not until the following day that his panic reappeared. Had Reborn wandered off somewhere?
The following day, he, Haru, and Gokudera decided to search for the home tutor. Maybe he'd returned and just hadn't... returned? It was then that Tsuna got an idea. If Lambo used it on HIMSELF, maybe FUTURE Lambo would know something.
Unfortunately, Lambo claimed not to KNOW anything about the 10 year bazooka, prompting Tsuna to drag it from the boy's outrageous hair. They got into a scuffle over it, when Lambo accidentally pulled the trigger. But hey, maybe if he was sent 10 years into the future himself, he'd find Reborn, right?
...too bad the future wasn't where he'd end up.
-PRESENT- Tsuna opened his eyes for the first time since he'd been hit by the 10 year bazooka. It was awfully dark. And what was that STENCH? Wherever he was, it smelled AWFUL. He put his hands forward and felt a... ceiling perhaps? A slight nudge, though, confirmed that he COULD push it open with enough force...
Wait, that actually didn't take much force at all. Where the hell was he? He sat up, eyes adjusting to the light, and realized he was in a DUMPSTER of some sort. That explained the smell, at least...
He had a mild freak out that ended in him LEAPING from the dumpster. Just had to get a hold of himself... which he would have done, had he not looked around. He was in a... back alley, of some sort? What the hell was his future self doing in a place like this?

"You can't kill me, someone's here!"
Just to the left of the dumpster, concealed due to the time of night and the position of the moon not shedding any light into the alley, a man was pinned to the side of a building. The man probably wouldn't be the first thing Tsuna would notice, despite the voice coming from him. If Tsuna wasn't freaking over the entire situation at hand, he'd realize the voice was... not scared. Almost taunting, really. But in all honesty, even if the teenager was skilled at reading tones of voices, he'd probably be quite a bit more concerned with what was holding the man against the wall.
What, and that was the key word because it seemed more what than who, held him against the wall was humanoid at least. Said humanoid had charocal black skin and dark purple bordering on black braided hair. His ears were highly pointed and two blood red horns came from his head, curving around his ears a bit. The outfit was rather outlandish, seeming a cross of Egyptian and Roman, and the eyes were anything but human, the slits being red and the sclera being yellow. And then, of course, there was the giant scythe he had pressed against the man's throat...
...and then pressed through it. The humanoid creature pulled the scythe to the side and back with a swift flick, and the head went with the momentum and rolled onto the ground. The eyes of the now quite dead man were wide open, a clear reaction of the shock that had hit in the seconds his death took. The body just sorta stood there, as if it didn't have the sense to fall down. The humanoid spread the palm holding the scythe that was almost twice his size and the thing vanished in a swirl of black mist.
"A demon doesn't care about an audience," he stated, almost but not quite as if he were speaking to Tsuna.

Tsuna was just slowly beginning to get over the mind screw of the 10 year bazooka firing him into a dumpster in a back alley. He was just getting ready to call out for Reborn and hope the arcobaleno was close. Maybe he could clear some things up for him. And then he heard someone scream, something about not being able to be killed.
And then he noticed a humanoid with charcoal black skin with a MOTHERFRIGGIN' SCYTHE. Tsuna paled, and he hoped the gentleman was right. Maybe he wouldn't be murdered since Tsuna was there, maybe Tsuna wouldn't be left with a deep scar, maybe...
And then said charcoal black humanoid pressed his scythe through the dude's throat. Tsuna was at first merely slightly pale, but now? Now he was white as a sheet. His eyes were dinner plates for a brief moment before he started with the freaking out.
"GOKUDERA-KUN! YAMAMATO! SOMEONE HELP!" Tsuna called out, completely forgetting that he was, you know, in the future.
...or at least he THOUGHT he was.

The humanoid narrowed his eyes as Tsuna began to freak. To be honest, he hadn't quite expected that reaction. Running was the usual reaction to something like this. Some humans might not have been terribly bothered, but this one hadn't struck him the type. But he hadn't really expected the teenage boy to just... stand there and freak. The one who called himself Hades looked around, agitation slightly present but hard to obsere.
He then launched forward, his scythe rematerializing in his hands by the same black mist as before. He had no intentions of killing the overly vocal human just yet. A scare might be plenty. Providing Tsuna didn't react, Hades would have him knocked down and the scythe blade hovering about a centimeter above his throat in all of five seconds, tops. Dodging wasn't impossible, but probably not that likely...

You know, when you're freaking out, dodging is nearly impossible. At least, it is when you're Tsuna. He was still staring in disbelief and entirely unable to move when the dark skinned humanoid practically TACKLED the boy. Reflexes were one of the things he'd have to work on before becoming the 10th Vongola. But that was beside the point. The point was, he was currently on his back with the blade of a SCYTHE about a centimeter from his throat.
"I'm sorry! I won't tell anyone, I swear!" Tsuna called out, doing his best NOT to move. Right now he was terrified of what would happen next and he didn't want to make any sudden movements and prompt the demon to kill him. If you die on Dimensional Island, you die in real life, after all.
...unless you're hit with the Dying Will bullet but young Reborn was absent at the moment.

The demon stared without words for a solid minute. Tsuna wouldn't be able to move too much without brushing his throat against the blade. That would equal blood and pain. The height difference made it rather interesting. Even though Hades had one foot on either side of Tsuna's midchest, Tsuna's body still came up to just past his knees. Hades was only 3'10", after all.
After that minute, his eyes narrowed and his muscles tensed up. Tsuna probably knew what was coming, the expression left little to know illusion about what was about to happen. The distance between Tsuna's throat and the scythe's blade vanished, and a cut about as deep as an average fingernail was left before the scythe suddenly vanished in a swirl of black mist, the demon looked almost as if something was yanking him off Tsuna's body, and a rather loud thud was heard as said demon hit the dumpster Tsuna had climbed out of.
By the time Tsuna saw the demon again, he wouldn't be there. Where the demon should be was a boy who at first glace would appear ten or so. His hair was light brown and rather unkempt, but short. His outfit consisted of a brown t-shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes. All rather plain. He was wincing pretty badly and holding his left shoulder with his right hand. There was a dent in the dumpster, and the way the boy was positioned meant it kind of looked like he had crashed into it...

Tsuna looked up. The second the blade of the scythe had brushed his neck he'd started panicking again. And then the demon had been yanked off of him. That was quite the turn of events, and Tsuna rubbed at his neck a bit. Only a couple of beads of blood, okay. But even if he'd been yanked off, that demon would still be there, and most likely pissed right the hell off.
...except that he wasn't. When Tsuna looked up he saw a human male, maybe around ten years of age. He looked around erratically, not seeing the demon. He noted the fact that the boy seemed to have hit the dumpster where the DEMON should have, but that wasn't important right now. That demon was still out there somewhere and this boy would be SLAUGHTERED, Tsuna thought, if he came back.
"Run! There's a... a... scary man here!" Tsuna called out to the boy, rushing to him. He couldn't exactly say 'THERE'S A DEMON RUN I'M NOT CRAZY JUST RUN', so he went with the next best thing.
Tsuna looked around. He didn't SEE Hades, but that didn't mean he wasn't there. And in a way, I suppose you could say he WAS...

Thane was rubbing his shoulder and wincing. He'd hit that dumpster with quite a bit of force. He'd had to put that much force into it. As fast as he had. He didn't even know if the teenager was okay. He looked up at that thought and saw Tsuna was looking at him. The teenager began to panic. Thane didn't move. He just shook his head.
"He won't attack you here. I promise."
He was oddly mature. His eyes looked far older than ten, as a matter of fact. More mature than most adults would have, rather lacking in the childlike gleam a ten year old should have. His voice was rather stable as well, and there was a night and day difference in regards to the reactions of the boy and Tsuna. He looked towards Tsuna's throat.
"You're okay, right?"

Well that was... odd. The boy in front of him seemed to know quite a bit about the creature from before. To be fair, he'd not given Tsuna any indication that he didn't believe the teen's fabrication. So perhaps this area was supposed to be crime free or some such? The other option would be that the boy had seen the creature from before, but Tsuna was PRETTY sure he'd been attacked.
Notably, the boy looked quite a bit more mature than would be seen as normal for someone his age. For one thing, whether or not he'd actually seen the demon that had attacked Tsuna, he was sure speaking rather... calmly, that was for sure. Even more, he seemed more worried for TSUNA'S safety than his own...
"Er... yeah, yeah, I'm... I'm okay. But you might want to get that shoulder looked at..." Tsuna trailed off for a moment, glancing around. They seemed to be in a back alley of some type, but that didn't exactly narrow things down.
"Where.... where exactly are we, anyway?"

Thane's eyes widened for a moment as Tsuna asked where they were. It hadn't even occurred to him that the teenager was new to the Island. He glanced down at the shoulder Tsuna had indicated and gave a sort of nervous smile. There was no way Tsuna could know he would be fine. He was not so easily killed. If Tsuna was the type to notice body types, he'd notice the kid was also rather lean. The sort of lean an athlete might have, really... Yamamoto would be a good comparison if they'd been the same age.
After flexing his hand a bit, he pushed up with the one that hadn't looked to ram into the dumpster. He wobbled a bit, but shook his head and managed to get to his feet. The calmness flickered for a moment when it seemed almost as if the boy... wasn't really there. He was there in the physical sense, but his eyes seemed to go elsewhere for a moment. He shook his head, his expression firm. He finally looked towards Tsuna again, the smile making him look more like his age than he had before. At his current expression, he seemed to match Tsuna's age more than anything else.
"You just arrived, right? This is Dimensional Island," Thane stated, waiting for the inevitable question. It wasn't exactly a common name, and 'Dimensional' was the kind of word that caused double takes.
It was worth note the boy was speaking in Japanese. There was a slight accent, common for Americans speaking the language. It wasn't heavy, and the fact that he seemed to be using the most common dialect and a bit on the polite side of things would come out more strongly than the accent. Even those were traces of Americans speaking the language as their second. As for his features, the boy seemed European. To someone such as Tsuna, that would likely simply seem American.

Well, the name threw Tsuna a bit. Dimensional... island? But maybe... maybe it was like those amusement parks with odd names. Yeah, that had to be it. He had gone ten years into the future, he'd just... landed in an amusement park. That had to be it. There was no other explanation that he would accept.
It would also explain the boy. And... and the dark figure from before. Tsuna noted his slight accent, and he was rather lean... perhaps because he was a park caretaker or... or a janitor. Yeah, that had to be it. And the dark figure from before was obviously part of... part of the haunted house. And... and Tsuna wasn't in a back alley, he was really in a haunted house. Yeah. Totally.
But unfortunately even Tsuna knew his delusions held no water. The man from before had been KILLED, and he, Tsuna, had been ATTACKED. With a SCYTHE. And it was DARK.
"Uh, what's... what's Dimensional Island?" Tsuna questioned. Maybe he was right, maybe today was going to be a good day after all...

Thane caught the glance towards the head that remained on the ground. Or to be more precise, he could tell Tsuna was making a point of not glancing at the head. He took a few steps forward and positioned himself between the teenager and the head so Tsuna wouldn't be able to see it. The position of the dumpster nicely blocked the headless body. Worth note was that the boy hadn't reacted towards either, but his movement rather strongly implied he was aware of at least the head. He gave a smile, dropping his apparent age by a few years. He seemed to be trying to relax the situation with his expression.
"It's a dimensional crossroads... Um, that is to say.... there are a lot of different worlds. You know things like manga and anime? All those worlds are real, all those worlds are dimension. This place is sort of a central hub, and people get brought here from time to time... You came from a Japan, right?"
Worth note was how the boy had worded that final part. A Japan. He glanced past Tsuna for a moment. Was the teenager so concerned about him he didn't intend on leaving? For about half a second, the boy's eyes went distant again. He shook his head in a manner resembling trying to shake off an unpleasant thought or headache, looking back towards Tsuna when he was done.

Tsuna had to do a double take for a moment. At a couple of things, really, so perhaps it was more of a... quadruple take? Whatever. In any case, Thane moved himself in front of the head. That obscured its view from Tsuna, which did make him feel infinitely better, but at the same time, it meant that the boy was at least aware of the head. Who was this kid, to not react at a DISEMBODIED HEAD? And then there was Thane's smile, which made it seem like he was trying to relax the situation.
Did it make Tsuna feel better? Perhaps a bit. But at the same time it raised more questions than it answered. And then Than explained Dimensional Island. All the manga Tsuna had ever read, the anime he'd ever watched... it was real? All of it? This was getting to be a bit too much for Tsuna. His head was spinning, he was getting dizzy. The world was moving too fast, slow it down, he wanted to get off...
And then Thane asked if Tsuna was from a Japan. Not just Japan, A Japan. He supposed it made sense that there would be multiple Japans, what with the multiple dimensions. It didn't make the revelation any easier on him, but it did at least present an internal logical consistency.
In any case, Tsuna felt it would be rude not to respond to Thane's question, so after a few seconds of looking slightly panicked, he gave a nervous smile before responding.
"Y-yeah, I'm from... a Japan, yeah." Tsuna responded, taking a noticeable pause before 'a'.

Thane nodded to himself. He seemed to be running through something in his head. He glanced past Tsuna for a moment. If he walked right, it shouldn't be too hard. He took a few steps towards Tsuna, his angle keeping the head concealed. He reached out and grabbed the taller boy's hand, pushing it forward and pointing with his free one.
"If you're from a Japan, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It's one of two places that seems to draw the most people. But..." Thane glanced back towards the head. His eyes went unfocused and his grip loosened. Before Tsuna could react the boy was looking back at him, "You should really try to forget what happened here. This isn't your fight, okay?"

Tsuna was confused. Tsuna was UTTERLY and COMPLETELY confused. The boy had just basically told him to run while still struggling to keep the head concealed from Tsuna. It raised a question. If he knew it was there, why was he handling it so calmly? And furthermore, he'd instructed Tsuna to forget what had happened. Told him it wasn't his fight. Whose fight was it for the boy to have seemed to be involved?
These were all pressing questions, but another thing occurred Tsuna. Thane seemed like he intended to stay. Tsuna wasn't sure of his intuition was wrong this time or not, but that's what it seemed like. And it made the teen worry. No boy Thane's age should have to be around a headless body OR a disembodied head, Tsuna felt. So he decided to pose a pressing question, perhaps the most important question he could pose. Because he knew where he was... in a sense, at least. Dimensional Island, or something like that. What he didn't know was where he was going.
"W-where are we going? I-I mean, where's the closest city?" Tsuna asked, struggling to keep his cool.
