In the few days Twilight had been living on Dimensional Island, she found herself growing quite used to the chaos and negativity that was going about...
The case that most caught her attention was the group's direct meeting with a maniacal clown by the name of Kefka, whom seemed to know magic that Twilight herself was completely unfamiliar with. She supposed that made sense; While she was a typically well known magic expert, she never once tried studying magic used for fighting. The only spell she ever really learned that COULD match that description was her Telekinesis, which could be used for attacks resembling rays as much as it could be used for everyday purposes.

But knowing Kefka knew battle based spells was more then enough to catch her attention; and ever since then, she had Aya fly her to the Void City Library a few times a week to sample it's magic books. Sometimes these books were filled with runes and were often archaic in nature, but she often had Patchouli help her decipher them. It paid to have a friend who was similar in nature to her in a sense. Did she look up these spells maybe because she smelled a challenge? No, that's stupid you idiots. She was genuinely curious by nature, and, when it came down to it, she understood that she might need to learn fighting spells.
Rainbow had her new Danmaku abilities, Fluttershy knew healing magic... And she was going to learn attack spells.
Thus why we find her today in the Void City Library, looking up spell books of various kinds. A few of the librarians found themselves quite impressed by the number of books Twilight had been looking through, and the number that was on the desk she was sitting at awaiting reading.
Hmmm... This looked interesting.
"A shape shifting spell?" She said to herself as she lowered the book from her face, held aloft with magic. "That sounds interesting... Might even come in handy..." She made sure to make note in a piece of parchment she brought with her (Which was ALREADY filled to the brim with magical ideas), and continued looking at the spell, making the slightest note that the book might clue her in on.

Said Tengu was sitting in a chair next to Twilight, perusing a few magazines from different worlds (She had been quite pleased to note that her own Bunbunmaru had been among them and Hatate's Kakashi Spirit News had not) with a coffee in her hand from a kiosk that had been in the mall. "Anythin' new and interesting this time, Twilight?"
Meanwhile, a little ways away from the Library, in another part of the mall, a portal appeared, a white-coated unicorn stallion stepping out... and promptly falling flat on his face, the portal not quite at ground level. "Oof!" Shaking the stunned feeling off of him, Shining Armor looked around. "...Is this the place?" He began walking around the area, careful to avoid the strange-looking humans. Fortunately, the part of the mall he was in wasn't too crowded. "...I hope I can find her..."

Twilight looked to her new avian friend with a somewhat starry eyed expression. Apparently her new book had revealed to her some rather new and rather interesting spells indeed. "I will tell you this much Aya, this nexus never ceases to amaze me! Just when I think I know all there is to know about it's magic, it surprises me again with something so new! So innovative!" She magicked the book over to Aya, page still turned to the page it had been on previously. "I mean, just look at this! A Shape shifting spell! Just wait till everypony back at the base hears about this!"
After showing Aya, she pulled the book back, "With something like this in mind, me and my friends could walk around the island without drawing too much attention to ourselves. All I would need is some time to study this and poof!" She held her hooves out to emphasize this. "I could have us take whatever form we need to!"
She took a moment to catch her breath... A moment later she continued. "True this spell does match another that I know... But it's really complex too. It might take me a while to learn it. Even longer to perfect it."

Aya looked at the book. "Huh... this is all Korean to me, Twilight. I don't know magic." (Since Gensokyo is Japan, I figured instead of Greek, they'd use Korean for that phrase. XD) She chuckled. "I barely understand how my Maple Leaf Fan works besides 'I swing and it causes gale-force winds.'"
Meanwhile, outside, Shining Armor still wandered the mall. He got a sandwich from a kiosk nearby because he was hungry and munched on the sandwich as he walked. He walked past the library and glanced inside. "Hmm?"
Aya glanced outside. "...Huh. Hey, Twilight. That a friend of yours?" She pointed out at the white-coated unicorn.
Shining Armor, on the other hand, nearly dropped his sandwich. "...Twily? Twily!"

"Oh! I see." She chuckled a bit, basically sweatdropping at Aya's sentiment. "I'm sorry Aya, I didn't know... I just assumed- well I guess I can always explain later." She looked rather embarassed at this; at this point and time, she sort of wished Spike could be here. At least he tended to understand her magical babble from time to time-
Wait... Friend of hers? What was Aya talking about? They didn't come here with anyone from Ponyvi-....
Oh.... OH... OH SWEET CELESTIA'S MANE... ... (She made a mental note to apologize to Celestia after that thought)
"I... I... Shining!!!"
The books very quickly became LOOOONG forgotten as Twilight ran clean across the library and over to her older brother.
Oh how could she have been so thoughtless to not consider her older brother in her plans? Sending a letter telling him what was going on would at least been appropriate. Maybe not exactly the most polite form of communication (when compared to telling him personally anyway), but Shining Armor had other duties to attend to. One of his most recent being his marriage to Cadence.
When she reached Shining Armor, her trot slowed to a stop as she recalled her lack in communication. She took him in a moment giving him a nervous little smile... "Umm... Hi big bro..."

He pulled his little sister into a big hug, a few tears running down his cheeks and dripping onto her shoulders. "Twily... I was so worried about you! I come back from a mission with the Guard and the Princess tells me you've gone off with your friends on a mission to some crazy place... She told me about this letter from this person that said how dangerous it is... It's been almost a week and we haven't heard anything from you... I couldn't take it anymore. I was so worried..." He was doing his best to keep himself from crying in relief, but wasn't doing very well.
Aya just smiled slightly, watching the siblings from the library's table.

Twilight felt the tears drop from her big brother's eyes, and found herself tearing up herself. She hadn't meant to make anypony worry about her and her friends. In fact, she had planned on sending a letter once she returned to Patchouli's home. But, she supposed she waited too long...
Now her brother was here, apparently having come to look for her.
She hugged her brother back, tearing up herself. "I'm sorry for making you worry... I missed you BBBFF..."
It was a very cute little moment. Sweet in fact. Heck I'm getting diabetes just watching it.

Shining Armor pulled his little sister a little closer to him, tears still silently dripping down. "I m-missed you too, Twily..."
Aya put her fingers to her neck, feeling for a pulse; she was sure that the siblings were going to give her a heart attack from how sweet it was. After making sure she did not, in fact, have a heart attack, she continued to watch the two; she cleared a little space and pulled another chair up to the table so Shining could join them.

Twilight and Shining stayed where they were for a few moments, before they finally pulled apart. Both were silent a moment more as Twilight wiped her tears off on her fore legs, and took a breath. "You... Uh... You wanna take a seat? Might as well make ourselves comfortable. We apparently have a lot to talk about."
She looked back to Aya and saw that she had pulled up another chair for Shining Armor; a motion that she mentally thanked her for. "We can sit at that table over there. You sorta caught me in the middle of studying this island's magic."
Boy would THAT be something to explain. After all, many of the spells she had learned this past week were elemental spells that could be used for battle. How would her brother react to that?

Shining wiped his tears as well, nodding. "S-sure..." He stood back up. "Lead the way, little sis."

And indeed she did show him over to the table, taking a seat in one of the wooden chairs. If Shining found himself looking at Aya, she was quick to rectify the situation. "Oh! This is Aya by the way. She's a friend I made here when I first landed. She was the one that helped me locate my friends from Ponyville." She supposed that didn't answer too many questions, but it was still a good start.

Aya waved to the other unicorn. "Pleasure to meetcha."
Shining Armor sat in another chair, nodding. "Same. ...Okay, Twilight... what's this island's magic like? The Princess said this world isn't like ours at all..."

Twilight sighed, before putting away one of the books. "She has THAT much right. Many of the spells I've found here are spells directly meant for confrontational purposes; a farcry from our magic in Ponyville where any of the magical types can be used in everyday life." She magicked another book to herself, this one she had read previously, and floated it over to Shining, it turning to a certain page. "Here are some of the basic spells of this world. Apparently these allow you to use elemental magic out of thin air, by tapping directly into the element they represent."
She magicked up a pen, and used it to point at one spell in particular. "This one is the most baffling to me. I mean, people in this world can control LIGHTNING? The pegasai can do similar in a way, but not like this." Said spell she had pointed to had been the ever familiar 'Thunder' series of spells; classics from the original Final Fantasy series. "I've already figured out that this world is a lot darker then ours is and this kind of touches on that factor."
She sighs a bit. "Now I know what your thinking; 'why would I look up spells like this?'... Well... I've gotten the chance to encounter some of the villains here and their not pleasant. Rainbow Dash has already taken on a form of magic to better defend herself."

"This place really is that crazy, eh? ...I can see why the Princess has extra security through the kingdom now..."
He looked over the book, absolutely baffled. "...Unbelieveable..." He flipped through the book to another page. "Hm..." The page had the basic Protect and Shell spells on it. "...Can use these..."

She looked to her brother already figuring out what spells he was likely looking at....
Oh wait... Hold on here!!
Twilight face-hoofed, looking mildly embarrassed. "Oh but listen to me, going on about magic and about this world when your here with me! There's a lot more to talk about then what's going on!" She smiled a bit as she put away the book she was looking at. "How have you and Cadence been doing? It's only been..." She thought a moment. "Three weeks since the wedding. How have you two been doing? Go on tell me!"
By this point, she had changed from the number 1 student of Princess Celestia, to the nosy and cute little sister that Twilight could often be. She had good reason to be too, since her older brother had married her old Foal-sitter Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, or Cadence as she was known to her friends. The thought had made her happy as a little filly when she discovered this. After all Cadence was, in Twilight's opinion, the best Foal-Sitter in the history of Foal-Sitters.
