Beth smirked.
"Trust me when I say this. Weird for me is normal," she commented as the hooded carapace came into view.
She turned to it before saying, "Cool hoodie!"

WV stopped when one of two humans sitting at a table hailed him. "Oh... Hello, girl," he piped up, waving and showing a smile full of worn-down teeth. "Thank you for your kind words."
Yes, he was remembering his human etiquette. Good...
Otto looked him over curiously. "You're a new face to me," he said. "My name's Otto. What's your name?"
"M-M...My na...name...?" The carapace faltered for a moment. He never really had a real name. After all, pawns were just spawned to be thrown out there on the battlefield and die by each other's hands.

"He means what do you like to be called sir, and you're very welcome. It's not every day you see any one wearing a Hero of Breath hoodie where I'm from," Beth offered. "I'm Beth by the way."

The carapace shuffled awkwardly. "I, um...never really had a name, Beth girl... I'm just a pawn," he said. "Hero...of...Breath...?" Musing for a moment, he remarked a bit more quietly, "That John boy...who could do the windy thing... He wore a garment much like this one..."

Beth tilted here head as the gears in her mind turned. "By chance are you formerly a Dersite?" she asked softly.

He looked between the two humans Otto and Beth curiously when the latter brought up Derse. "What do you know about the Kingdom of Darkness?" There was no suspicion or hostility in his voice, only benign curiosity.
Otto just shrugged and glanced Beth's way. "She probably knows more than me." For the first time in as long as he could remember, he was feeling a little out of the loop.

Beth sighed.
"You might want to sit for this explanation," she offered to the carapace. "I know of Derse because I've read and somewhat seen it through the eyes of another. Where I'm from, Derse and it's twin Prospit are the twin moons of Skaia and are part of something that I had- how I hate saying this- read."
"The twins of Skaia, locked in combat's hold; One a shadow of fate, one a heart of gold. Watch as we see the children who dream, of worlds so unlike anything we've seen. Now, listen to the sound that has been rehearsed. The sound of dreams... of Prospit and Derse," Beth recited softly. "At least that's what I can recall. Derse's skyline is made of blacks and different darker purples where as it's twin is of golds and lighter yellows. Even the people are different from each moon."
((And I feel like an idiot for this))

(( [shrug] I kinda liked it.))
WV: Try to remember.
The carapace thought long and hard to the old days, years back before the war and his exile to the desolate landscape. The Beth girl's description seemed...pretty accurate. "It's...been so long since I've seen Derse..." he mumbled, albeit just audibly enough that the humans would've been able to hear. "After meeting one of the heroes and attempting a journey for him, I was exiled to a barren world where I had nothing to do but count my steps as I traversed..." Deep in thought, he almost looked as if he were in a trance.
Otto glanced awkwardly between Beth and the former pawn. He still didn't really understand any of this. "Um...do you remember how you got here?" he asked curiously.

Beth tilted her head.
"I'm actually not sure on that one Otto. I think I fell through a portal and ended up here but then again I'm not quiet sure about that either," she replied with a shrug before turning back to WV. "I'm willing to bet that the hero you met is still alive. His type never really die."

"I...don't remember much..." he mumbled He just stood there blankly, and he started shaking as if his very memories were a trigger to him. "I saw the boy...I saw him murdered through the terminal of the prison my own rude behavior locked me in... I remember...trying to escape...remember sleeping...then then..."
He covered his face with his arms as the trigger drove him to full panic. "There he was! The archagent in his demon form! RIGHTINFRONTOFME!"
An irritated "Shh!" came from somewhere else in the library.

Beth took a breath.
"It's okay. The Devilbeast isn't here now. Her Postal Majesty is seeing to that," Beth offered.

WV remained silent as he didn't really know what to say.
"Um... Does anyone mind filling me in on all of this?" piped up Otto. He quite honestly didn't really like being left ignorant on matters at hand.

"It's a long and complicated story," Beth answered. "Are you sure you want to hear it, Otto?"

"Uhhh..." Otto side-glanced the carapacian's way; the latter had sat down next to a bookshelf with a pile of books he'd pulled off, and he was starting to build a little town out of it. He quickly turned his focus back to Beth. "Sure."

Beth let a sigh escape her lips before starting to talk.
"This all takes place on a parallel Earth. Similar to my own but at the same time not. Everything started on April 13th, 2009. It was John Egbert's birthday and the start of SBURB. He got his friends- Dave Strider, Rose Lalonde, and Jade Harley- to join him not knowing that the version of Earth he lived on would be come a desolate wasteland," she started before pausing to make sure Otto wasn't bored with the tale.
