Otto cradled his head in his hands, leaning in as Beth prepared to begin. While he wasn't exactly bored, he was certainly lost as his face likely told. Who exactly was this John Egbert, and what was a 'sburb' if if was so dangerous enough to make a wasteland out of the Earth?

"John is our main hero in this epic tale. SBURB was just supposed to be just a game that he and his friends would play," she started before continuing on with the tale of what happened and everything.
"Last I knew they were on their way to meet up in the Alpha session." she finished.
((honestly hope you're caught up on homestuck))

Otto had to sit there for a minute or two while his brain sorted out and made sense of the whole dang mess of a tale. He shook his head as the last of the details finally fell into place.
"Wait, so...if this guy got his gut punched through on a post-apocalytpic Earth, why is here here and perfectly fine?"

"That I believe you'd have to ask him," Beth answered calmly before looking at the Dersite.
"Building book town now?" she asked with a small smile.

The Whimsical Villager stood tall and proud, boasting, "Book Town is a utopia of prosperous democracy, where all live freely under the beloved rule of a duly elected mayor!" he boasted. "No dictator shall trample their freedom while I watch over them!"

Beth gave a smile to WV's answer.
"The only thing that can bring Book Town down now is someone needing one of the books you used," she chuckled.

Otto got up from his set and went to sit on the ground near WV, watching him curiously as he fine-tuned his 'city'. The being seemed so whimsical and carefree, despite clearly having some personal demons that shown through on occasion.
"So...what's your earliest memories of being on this island?"
The pawn paused a moment, clutching an encyclopedia in his hands. After a moment to collect his thoughts, he answered hesitantly, "I remember...waking up...in a fluffy, sanitized hospital bed... I remember a peculiar avian doctor who wished to study me in curious ways...but those memories are a bit blurry as of late...
"My rags were torn to the point at which I could adorn them no more. At the very least, I know have this memory-inducing apparel for which I can wear." He looked down at the familiar shape of Breath upon his new hoddie.

Beth nodded as she watched before taking the card out of the book she had been reading and passing it to WV. "You could use this too," she offered.

Taking the wafer-thin object, the carapacian looked it over curiously. What was this mysterious object the young lady has handed to him?
WV: See what it tastes like.
Placing it to his lips, he carefully nibbled at the edges out of continued curiosity. Not enough to leave any punctures; just enough to get a sense of taste from it.
Otto cringed, frowning at this poor course of action towards an object as important as a library card. "You're...not supposed to eat it..."

Beth kringed.
"That's not meant to be eaten. It's a playing card," she managed to say with a wince.

He stopped for a moment, awkwardly, and then looked the card in his hand over. ".........Oh..."

Beth accepted the card. "Everyone makes mistakes," she said with a small chuckle.
